Roy Case had only just returned to Kogane when he felt it proper to leave. A power outage near his home had apparently been caused by this tower falling. He vaguely remembered visiting the tourist attraction when he was far younger. Some time before the Coldblood Crew became his life. Seeing the rubble in the middle of Kikyo just seemed surreal. It felt as if only some unthinkable force of nature could have felled such a building as if it was some flimsy tree alongside a route. Roy had heard plenty of rumors, but nothing concrete about what had transpired.
Seeing the disaster up close, it wasn't surprising that its shocks could be felt as far as Kogane. It looked as if someone had popped a mountain. There was nothing Roy could do there to actually fix his District Gone Dark and help the rest of the gang, but if he could find out who was responsible, then that might be a suitable substitute. However, so far, his investigations hadn't garnered much of any real information. This was the third time he'd returned to the site of the rubble. There were some feeble barriers up around the rubble, meant to keep nosy people out, but Roy hadn't been interested in following rules like that in a long time.
The gangster wasn't sure precisely what he was looking for among the crushed stone, and as the sun was setting, his search was only going to become more and more difficult. He tossed aside rock after rock, but continuously came up empty. After a few minutes of this digging, an older woman approached him to chastise the young man.
"Get out of there!" She demanded, "That was a sacred spot for our city, don't trample on its ruins!"
Roy stood up from the destruction and looked over his shoulders. "Don't worry, ma'am. I'm just looking for buried treasure. If you don't have anything to tell me about what happened here, then you can move along!" Roy recognized her as one of the women he'd interviewed, but she'd been quite cagey about the event.
"I'm going to get the authorities!"
The gangster waved a goodbye, "Tell 'em I said 'hello,' for me," he remarked casually. She walked off and Roy was left just as lost as he started. Who was he supposed to punish for sticking his gang in the dark?

[attr="class","foreign"] [attr="class","dust"] [attr="class","gold"]PLAYER: VICTORY [attr="class","gold"]BADGES: 0 [attr="class","gold"]POKEDEX: 1 ulla [attr="class","sun"]i'm a champion of people who don't believe in champions VICTORY stared down at the man with glowing, judgmental eyes. she was still behind the yellow tape, as all good children were bound to be. after all, apparently, this place had all sorts of hazards; broken glass, shards of wood and concrete and steel. dried blood. they'd managed to haul out any bodies, as far she she'd heard, but otherwise, this place was still ruined. she supposed she should feel bad for this place, but... she didn't. not really. she didn't feel anything. it was like hearing about someone in a car crash from some other grade in school. you should care, but you simply don't, only because you didn't know anyone in it or anything about it. she watched the man listlessly as he dug like a dog beneath her, in the crater of rubble. she felt a strong wind hit her from behind, blowing her hair forward as she simply looked on curiously. "... ..." what was he looking for, anyways? treasure? there was nothing here, this place had been full of monks or whatever. what treasure would there be? prayer beads? statues or shrines, perhaps? offerings? donations? if any of that was the case, then... ...well. this man really was the worst of the worst. he looked strong, though, so she doubted she could fight him head-on. she only did just begin, after all. give her a bit, though. just a little bit of time. suddenly, the cry of a pokemon echoed in the distance, and her almost-incandescent eyes trailed away from the man and towards the source. another battle? another fight? another victory? another win? she hoped for all of that and more. Roy Case's search was still coming up mostly empty. He overturned a particularly large piece of stone only to find some wooden planks splattered with crimson. His hand went to his nose, but there was little stench left over. It had been quite a while since it had happened. He was going to continue his search when one pokémon seemed to rise like violet mist from the rubble, and another came swooping down from the early evening.
The hoothoot looked like he was flying towards Roy, and he pulled out a pokéball in defense, only to notice another young girl was doing just the same thing. The hoothoot's cry brought his mind back to the battle, and he summoned one of his newer pokémon. "Skarmory, scrap!" The metal bird appeared from a flash of light, screeching loudly. A creature of the sky needed something that could fly to tangle with. At the appearance of another bird, the hoothoot's eyes seemed to glow with a strange, mystifying light that Skarmory evaded. Roy thought he recognized the Hypnosis, and returned the move with what he thought was the same one. "Leer, Skarmory!"
The sharp look seemed to frighten the hoothoot, who shook a bit in the sky, managing to stay in the air with a furious flutter of his diminutive wings. He dove down towards the Skarmory, and Roy did his best to do the same thing, "Peck! Don't run away from the fight!" Skarmory had a knack for getting in and out of trouble, but on her trainer's orders, she collided with the hoothoot, and the two dealt nasty damage to one another, which looked about even at the end of it. The hoothoot recovered and tried to repeat the tactic, diving for another Peck, so Roy elected to switch up his. "Sand-Attack trap!" Roy ordered.
The technique was something Roy had devised when fighting with Arti, but it seemed to work even better with Skarmory, who was unaffected by the Sand-Attack. Him devoting some time to strategy had actually been going well. When the hoothoot got close, Skarmory's talons crushed up small pieces of debris, and created a large cloud around herself, that would've blinded both pokémon if it weren't for Skarmory's ability. Hoothoot's Peck missed, and he went careening into the rubble of the tower. "Peck while it's down! No mercy!" Roy ordered, though it seemed unnecessary. The devious pokémon knew it was the time to strike, and plunged her steel beak into the hoothoot, who escaped back into the air.
The owl pokémon switched tactics, attacking Skarmory with a confusion to keep her at bay. She struggled to stay in the air under the duress of his psychic attack, but was able to power through just inches away from where Roy was standing. "Don't hold back now, Skarmory, Peck that thing until it doesn't get back up from the rubble!" Skarmory complied and got up to her tricks, flying towards the hoothoot and engaging in a sort of aerial dogfight with one another. But, between hoothoot's smaller frame and diminished eyesight, he eventually couldn't take the heat any longer, and tumbled into the treeline, down for the count. Skarmory returned to Roy, and he pet the pretty bird with a gentle touch.
Assuming the girl had finished her own half of that strange battle, Roy would say, "You're not those authorities are you? Any reason I've got a secret admirer all of a sudden?"
Hoothoot defeated!
Skarmory gained two levels! Lv. 7

VICTORY's battle was fairly mild, if anything. she knew that gastly were made of gas, and that they could be blown away by strong enough winds. it's why they normally hid in forests, or abandoned areas, where winds weren't a factor. that being said... the trainer started out with using hurricane, and immediately, the gastly was battered around by the wind, struggling to keep all of it's fumes together in one piece. PIDGEY simply kept up the offensive, whipping up even more wind using tailwind. soon enough, the gastly used it's trump card. using ghostly energy, it sacrified it's own health in order to lay a curse on PIDGEY-- but gastly promptly fainted, and the curse didn't have any time to take effect. it had used the move without realizing that PIDGEY had done a number on it already. wild pokemon were strange, indeed. once the battle was over, VICTORY looked down in disdain at the man, the effect emphasized by the tailwind behind her, her ragged hoodie, skirt, and hair whipping in the wind as her blue eyes reflected moonlight perfectly, beaming menacingly at him. "... ..." in any case, he mentioned authorities, and she figured that somebody had already went to contact the police. that was good. perhaps she could keep him here, while he still had his attention on her? VICTORY decided not to say anything, still watching him and anticipating his next move. Roy Case scowled at the girl's silence. Clearly she and her bird could fight. What was this sense of superiority that girl thought she felt? Who was she to stay silent in his presence?! It took a moment, but Roy thought of what others in the Coldblood Crew might think and do in this situation, working himself into a bit of a rage.
"Hey! Little girl!" He yelled to get her attention, but the arrival of even more ghost pokémon distracted him from his scolding. It seemed their fights had summoned spirits up from the ruins of the tower. Perhaps it was these ghosts that had worked to destroy the tower. Roy had never heard of a pokémon doing such a thing, but he couldn't figure out a reason why it'd be impossible. Roy did think that such a thing was kind of disappointing though. He couldn't really exact vengeance against all ghost pokémon. But, at least there was one more he could take down.
Roy's partner was already flying circles in the sky when he shouted once more, "Skarmory, Scrap!" and his partner responded with a return to her fighting position. "Peck!" Roy gave the command, but it seemed the skull ghost was too fast to be caught like that, appearing suddenly to Astonish Skarmory. She recoiled from the shock, but was able to retaliate with a confident Peck that threw the ghost back. His floating wasn't exactly on par with Skarmory's flight, but it meant the two were having some of their battle in the air.
The duskull shimmered with some strange energy that seemed to affect Skarmory, but Roy couldn't place what the move had actually done. "Peck once more!" Skarmory strafed her prey, cleverly bobbing and weaving into the ghost's blind spot. But, even when she'd arrived at her target, the skarmory was unable to Peck, as if she'd forgotten how. Roy didn't identify the Disable, but it had presented a clear challenge. The duskull took advantage of the mistake, launching an arc of black energy that sparked and scratched against Skarmory's steel exterior. "Did you forget how to fight, pretty bird?" Roy shook his head and shook things off. "Assurance instead!"
Skarmory ascended swiftly and then dove back down on top of the duskull, landing the Assurance with talons that glowed with a dark, malicious energy. The duskull didn't take the attack lightly, violently spooking Skarmory to attack with another Astonish that clearly threw the girl off her rhythm. Roy was having more trouble than he would've liked with this little ghost. He didn't want to have to get into another messy tangle, but the ghost's deception and wit matched Skarmory's. It would have to become another dogfight, this one at much lower altitude. They traded Assurances and Astonishes for roughly a minute before Skarmory finally dropped the duskull to the rubble. However, it looked as if Roy's partner was about to collapse herself.
The gangster recalled his partner. Having to retreat wasn't the most intimidating image. Honestly, he could probably coax a decent answer out of the girl if he tried to be a bit nicer. Maybe the edge he was trying to adopt had been keeping people away. Roy would try to be a bit more honest. He cleared away a few pieces of jagged rubble, and took a seat stop a level stone amidst the collapsed tower. He'd wait for the battle to conclude, and then say, "Sorry if I'm a little loud. I got a lot of people without light back home, and apparently the tower had something to do with it," he raised his hands casually, struggling to swallow his pride, "I could use any help... I guess... or whatever."

[attr="class","foreign"] [attr="class","dust"] [attr="class","gold"]PLAYER: VICTORY [attr="class","gold"]BADGES: 0 [attr="class","gold"]POKEDEX: 1 ulla [attr="class","sun"]i'm a champion of people who don't believe in champions ever so thankful for the appearance of the wild pokemon, VICTORY grunted as her pidgey fluttered into battle a second time, her eyes trained on the new ghost, eager to battle. as it stood, she didn't know much about this pokemon. it looked like a ghost, but not quite; honestly, it reminded her of a cloth, or a hand puppet, but otherwise, she had no idea. still, she'd seen gastly around, and, of course, just fought one, so she had a vague idea of what to expect from this pokemon. asl handsigns flashed like lightning, and just like that, PIDGEY tried to blast the ghost-type with a hurricane. the move missed; for how powerful it was, hurricane really did telegraph itself, being the giant burst of swirling wind it was; and shuppet let out a shriek that lowered the bird's defenses. this came in the form of the pigeon losing altitude, having been taken aback from the screech attack and forgetting to even flap. PIDGEY recovered, but not before shuppet smacked it's body into the bird, as if trying to disarm her. PIDGEY let loose an air slash, this time, landing cleanly on shuppet's body and causing it to reel back in the air. now with more distance between the two, PIDGEY used hurricane once more, this time hitting the ghost head-on and knocking it into the rubble. the bird, having gained the upper hand once more, let loose another air slash, really and truly knocking the shuppet to the ground, rendering it dazed, flinching from the damage wrought from air slash. seeing her opportunity, VICTORY threw a poke ball, judging the shuppet to be strong enough, since it could take on pidgey without too many problems. surely, a pokemon like that would be really helpful to the gym battle she was going to have, soon. ah. the man begun talking to her. Roy Case's hair was normally messy, but with all the wind this girl's bird whipping about it was an absolute murkrow's nest. He felt a strange feeling of happiness in seeing the girl catch one of the ghosts, but felt nothing beyond confusion for a few moments after seeing the girl waving her hands about. His eyes would soon go wide in understanding. He pressed his hand into his eye socket hoping to feel something other than embarrassment.
This whole time, Roy had been yelling at some girl who couldn't even speak. No wonder he couldn't hear her during her pokémon battles. Things fell into piece for the boy. "Oh..." he was able to say, "Uh... sorry I suppose. I'm just trying to help my friends, I didn't mean to go full Coldblood Crew gangster mode on you, shoot." Just because she couldn't talk didn't mean she didn't know anything though, and Roy got to thinking how he might still be able to get some answers out of her. Before his brain could come to any conclusions however, another ghost rose up from the destruction of the tower.
"Ah! Don't fret, little girl! I've got this one. My hair style doesn't need any more punishment," he fruitlessly tried to sweep some of it out of his eyes before throwing out a pokémon to fight the approaching misdreavus. "Arti, assault!" The trapinch was happy to appear for a battle, snapping about excitedly. The misdreavus didn't waste any time casting some sort of move through her eyes that seemed to trap Arti in some way or another. Roy wasn't fully aware of what the Mean Look did, but, he wasn't going to waste time trying to figure it out. "Bulldoze!" Roy ordered the attack, but Arti's attempt was avoided rather simply by the ghost floating over the attack.
Roy was feeling even more embarrassed. If he couldn't live up to his words that'd be a truly sorry sight. The misdreavus attacked with some psychic wave that caused Arti to fumble and lose focus. When the Psywave let up, Roy took a surefire retaliation, "Feint Attack!" After baiting his foe with a fake shadow, the trapinch had a clear shot at tackling the misdreavus and taking her by surprise. The misdreavus returned the favor with a rapid Astonish that seemed to beat up Arti almost as much as his Feint Attack. Roy may have underestimated this last specter. "Rock Slide! Don't get left behind, partner!" Arti was doing his best to keep pace in the fight, swinging with some of the scattered rubble and pelting the misdreavus. She reeled from the attack, struggling to fight back. "Feint Attack once more!" The misdreavus picked herself back up from the flinching and lunged towards what she thought was her foe, only to be deceived and brought down by the sneak attack.
The trainer let out a deep breath of relief. "Way to go, kid! That's the way, Arti!" His relief was cut short when he remembered the girl's phantom eyes nearby. Roy cleared his throat and recalled his partner. His mind returned to solving his problem and the solution came through to him. "I know! Do you have a cellphone or an e-mail or something? One of the nerds in Kogane set me up with that stuff. You can text me to tell me what you know about the tower and the power in Kogane!"Roy's tone was much more excitable than threatening when he spoke. If the offer was accepted, he would happily give over his contact information expecting a straight answer from the mute girl.
