Roy Case needed to return to Kogane strong enough to lay claim to the Coldblood Crew's leadership, or with the answer to the power outage problem. Only through those two avenues would he be readily accepted as the gang's new captain. It seemed like the next logical step for him. After gangster, gang captain seemed the only real place to go. He could bring the Featherweights into the light of day and exterminate them to take a full monopoly of the city.
After that... Roy had no idea what he would do. He was sure he'd do something memorable and important, though. For now, he was more worried about the past than the future. Somewhere from Kikyo, a tremor had knocked out power in what was quickly becoming known as the Dark District. With no power, and no one ready to help the crime infested streets, it was up to Roy to figure out what was going on under the earth as well as above it.
The trainer had no real clues as to why the Dark Cave might hold his answers, but he'd already done quite a bit of investigating everywhere else he could think of. Roy only just descended into the subterranean landscape when he realized how greatly he'd underestimated his coming task. It was dark and wet and honestly a bit frightening. Roy couldn't see far in front of his face, but heard constant skittering and the cries of pokémon. This was a setting that practically smelled of danger. But, he couldn't turn tail.
"C'mon..." he muttered, "they're stuck in the dark too."

Okay so maybe wandering a bit too far from Fusube Blackthorn had gotten him into this mess. Great.Cursing to himself because honestly, how he even ended up in the Dark Cave was something even he couldn’t fathom; he strained his ears to listen carefully just in case he ended up stepping on something, or worse: attacking him. Caves mostly don’t bother me, but when they’re dark, damp and incredibly…well, dark like this… that’s where we have a problem… he thought to himself, and for a few moments his thoughts wandered back to his Sableye back home. Wonder how he’s doing right now. Hopefully he’s not driving my siblings up the wall… nasty little prankster he is… he continued to reflect on himself, a hint of a smile crossing his face. Due to the surroundings being mostly dark, he could barely see more than five feet in front of him, let alone beyond the range his sight and hearing could pick up on. He was definitely bound to crash into someone due to the place being so dark, damp and—and that’s exactly what happened. Thank hell he didn’t bump into whatever—or whoever—he’d bumped into with his hair, otherwise he’d have poked it out and made things even more awkward than they already were. “Sorry ‘bout that…” he muttered in the general direction of whatever (or whoever) he’d bumped into. Hopefully he didn’t send them butt-first to the damp cave floor or something. Whoops. MADE BY ★MEULK

Roy Case had hardly started his journey through the cave when he heard a voice apologize to someone or something just a few feet away. "Hey! Who's out there?" Roy would bark his question, walking steadily over towards the voice, careful not to trip over any rocks or cracks in the cave when something ran over his foot, and Roy jumped in fright. He couldn't catch sight of the creature, but he was more positive than ever that he wasn't alone out there. "Don't mess with me! I'm Roy Case... rising star of the Coldblood Crew! You'd better-!" His threat was interrupted by the return of the first creature, some bug that crawled across the ground.
"Skarmory, scrap!" Roy's skarmory appeared in a flash of light and immediately squawked in disappointment about the darkness. "Use Swfit! Shed some light on us!" Skarmory gentled used the move and it briefly illuminated the dark cave, each star shining light in a different direction. Roy got his bearings quickly, finding the exit, a tunnel that headed deeper into the cave, taking note of some other guy not far off, and finally a bug pokémon that was scurrying very close to Roy and his pokémon.
The gangster smiled wide, "We've got our target!" Roy said, figuring they could worry about the boy later. "Swift again!" The attack, fired blindly, still managed to partially hit its mark, earning the nincada's attention. She scurried towards the skarmory and absorbed her health from the safety of the dark. Roy's pretty bird hardly noticed the nominal attack. "Find it, use Metal Claw!" Roy ordered excitedly. There was a certain exhilaration to fighting in such consuming darkness. It wasn't very efficient, but it was a bit more fun than he might've otherwise thought.
Skarmory lashed out into the darkness with her outstretched talons and felt something on the other end, which quickly flung backwards and struck the cave wall. The wild pokémon done with, Roy turned his attention to where the stranger had been a minute ago. "You still there? Who am I traveling with in here?" he would ask, ready to pounce on the person if they turned out to be a threat.
Nincada defeated! Skarmory gained two levels! Lv.21 Wild Encounters 1/3

So apparently, crashing around in the dark was a bad idea.Even more so when it turned out he’d bumped into yet another stalagmite and was now dealing with a rather painful nose that had resulted into him walking right into said cave rock formation. Oww.He heard someone shouting not too far off, and thanks to a flash of red light accompanied by an attack—sadly it wasn’t a Fire-type, he should seriously at least get one of those if he wanted to poke around deeper in this place—yell some kind of introduction. As it turned out they were some distance apart, and he was about to shout back in response when he felt the ground trembling not too far away from where he stood. “Let me get back to you on that,” he said in the general direction of where he’d seen the other person as he quickly spun a small marble to full-size and sent his derp-ass of a Mudkip out of its confines, watching as the thing hit the ground with a yawn before looking back at him with this completely spaced-out look on its face. “Sui. You’re not a Slowpoke. Get cracking, I felt the ground trem—” he began to say when the Diglett came charging right at where the Mudkip had landed, Growling as threateningly as it could manage in the Water-type’s direction. “Sui, follow the source of that noise! Aim a Whirlpool at it, if you can!” he barked out a few moments later; having recognized the noise to be that of a Diglett’s. Thankfully he didn’t end up stepping on the thing, because not only would that be terrifying, it would’ve ended badly as well… considering if the thing knew some powerful Ground-type attacks. Thankfully, this one wasn’t as powerful, and the Mudkip then sent out a vortex of water in the rough direction of where the Diglett was scuffling around, letting out a cry of surprise as the Whirlpool trapped it head-on. “Alright, we found the target! Keep it up and use your Hydro Pump once the other attack wears off!” he added, not wanting to waste another chance—seeing as the Ground-type was apparently trapped in the swirling wall of water the Mudkip had called up. Lars could tell the small one was frustrated, trying to angle and find its way out of the watery trap—and at the same time he braced himself, because who knew if the thing was going to use an area-attack and potentially cause the entire cave to collapse on itself. Now that would be very bad, on all fronts. Once the vortex of water had finally disappeared, the Ground-type continued to charge forward—this time landing a successful Scratch attack on the Mudkip, who yelped out of surprise at the sudden move the Ground-type had done. Wait, what?No time to get all philosophical! Get rid of it first and ask yourself those questions later! Lars chastised himself in the back of his mind as the Mudkip growled before blasting out a powerful jet of water; which was more than enough to knock the Diglett flat on its back due to the sheer power of the Water-type attack. Unfortunately, though, it also brought the after-effect of a slight flooding in the area where he stood, and Lars could only groan internally— thank hell he was wearing his climbing boots this time around.Once the Diglett had been dealt with, he then grumbled before squinting a little farther in the darkness, trying to pick out where the voice had come from. “You got some light there?” he called out tentatively into the darkness, before he felt something slam into his foot—thankfully it was just Suijin, looking very pleased with himself at having driven off the Ground-type so quickly. +2 to Mudkip, Diglett KO'd MADE BY ★MEULK

Roy Case couldn't do any investigating like this. Skarmory's brief Swift attacks were nice, but they weren't nearly enough for any serious travel. He recalled the pokémon, saying, "Hold on a minute, stranger," and instead summoned his marshtomp from a pokéball. He then examined what he figured was a cave wall behind him. Roy knocked against the stone, eventually finding a point he was satisfied with. "Water Gun, right where my voice is, Panchax!" Roy's partner didn't hesitate, launching the attack a little too closely to Roy's face, soaking the boy's face before following his orders.
"Can't you just do as I say for once?!" Roy scolded his pokémon harshly, but Panchax's Water Gun eventually broke through the thin section of the cave wall, creating a few small gaps to the outside world, inviting in some light from the cloudy day outside. It was still dim, but Roy could at the very least get his bearings, and make out what this stranger looked like. The guy was probably a bit older than Roy himself, but his pokémon looked almost like a younger version of Panchax, who was clapping and laughing at the sight of the mudkip. "Nice to finally get a good look at you, stranger."
Apparently, not every pokémon in the cave was very keen on the light. A pair of creatures flew towards the trainers and Roy took to action. "Panchax, pummel!" The marshtomp took his position more seriously than normal. It seemed like he was trying to impress his junior. Some spinning pokémon approached Roy, headed straight for Panchax. Roy decided to experiment a little, and use a move he hadn't yet tried with the partner, "Bide!" Roy had no clue what the marshtomp would do, but he wasn't expecting his partner to do nothing at all. The baltoy crashed into Panchax, using its Rapid Spin to continuously attack Roy's pokémon.
The strike didn't seem to do much, but Panchax stayed immobile. "You've gotta do something! Water Gun! Use Water Gun!" Roy switched his order, but the marshtomp stood still, perfectly vulnerable to the wild pokémon's Confusion, which attacked Panchax and sent him to his knees. The baltoy was happy to find an easy target, and dove forward for another series of Rapid Spin. The attack buffeted Panchax, and Roy had given up on throwing out orders. This pokémon must have had some weird ability that prevented Panchax from using any moves. The gangster was about to step into the fight when a flurry of action overtook the baltoy and put it onto the cave floor for good. Roy couldn't fathom what had just happened, but wasn't going to question it.
Assuming the stranger was through with his fight, Roy would extend a hand in greeting, "I never caught that name, stranger. Not sure if you heard, but I'm Roy Case, member of the Coldblood Crew."

Apparently, it wasn’t just him who had a troublesome Mudkip for a companion. No sooner had Suijin plowed into his foot the young Water-type began to run circles around him, trying to chase his tail—at least until another flash of light not too far ahead had caught the Mudkip’s attention and made it stop to effectively stare at the other newcomer. While the other ‘mon was definitely older, there was… some kind of kinship between them. Like, Sui had an instinctual feeling towards the older ‘mon that had appeared in their midst. The little beam of light was much helpful, but before Lars could get to shouting out another reply, he was beset upon yet again—this time by a Gligar that had come swooping down from the ceiling and attempted to land right on his face. “Suijin! Need a little help here?!” he yelped, throwing up his hands as the Gligar began to accost him, flying around him in annoying little circles and taunting him with that huge-ass tongue that was sticking out of its mouth. “Suijin!” he barked once again, now doing a wild chicken-like dance as the Gligar continued to pester and annoy him; while the Mudkip was watching its older incarnation in silent awe as it dealt with the other wild Pokémon that had come out of nowhere. Now that the little show was over, only then did the Mudkip turn around to face Lars, who was now squawking all manner of angry noises at the Gligar, who was trying to land on his face (much like a certain fictional creature that brought nothing but destruction and death wherever it went) before the Water-type kicked up a stone, using Rock Throw in an attempt to get the wild Pokémon away from his companion’s face. About time you noticed my problem, Sui… he thought with a bit of a huff as the Gligar then did a 180 in midair and faced the Water-type, before zooming in down low and launching a Poison Sting attack. “About time you started moving, Sui,” he grumbled as he wiped his face down with the back of his hand—who knew that Gligar drool was absolutely disgusting? “Alright, use your Rock Throw on it again! You already saved yourself some trouble when you used the move earlier to get its attention away from me,” he added with a sigh as he backed away to give the two more room. Another rock came hurtling towards the incoming Gligar’s face, and both Mudkip and owner were surprised to see that not only had the Gligar let out a surprised yelp of pain the moment it had flown right into the rock. Well, what do you know… it actually works? He thought to himself as he regained his footing once more. “Okay, Sui, let’s try a Whirlpool on it, trap it and wear it down, okay?” he continued, watching as the Water-type called up another vortex of water and sent it right at the incoming Gligar, who was decidedly stubborn and was attempting to use Poison Sting again. No sooner had the wall of swirling water smacked right into the Gligar did it let out another painful yelp, before being effectively trapped by the attack. As it tried to get out, it continued to fly right into the swirling wall of water, stubbornly trying to make a getaway; but that wasn’t going to be doing nothing for it. Once the wall of water had gone down, the Gligar had crash-landed to the cave floor, but the Mudkip wasn’t going to have none of that and quickly released a much more powerful blast of water, knocking the Gligar clean past the other two, down and back into the darkness of the cave. “…and I didn’t even say anything about you using Hydro Pump, but you went ahead and did it,” he muttered, smacking both hands to his face out of sheer exasperation. Anywho… now that the little scuffle was over, he finally managed to catch the name of the other individual who’d also decided that crashing through a dark, damp cave without Fire-types was a good idea. “Name’s Lars, but I can’t say I heard of the Coldblood Crew. Only got here to the region quite recently,” he called out in the direction of where the light was coming from. “Also, these wild ‘mons are being peskier than usual. You know anything going on?” he asked a few moments later. +2 to Mudkip, Gligar KO'd MADE BY ★MEULK

Roy Case shook his head in disappointment. Lars, as he'd introduced himself, was another dead end in Roy's search. A newcomer to Johto wouldn't know about the power problem. "The Coldblood Crew is a gang in Kogane," Roy casually explained, "Where we live has lost power because of some tower collapsing in Kikyo. It caused some weird earthquake that might have royally pissed off all these critters."
On cue, another pair approached, these pokémon were significantly larger than Roy was expecting to find in the cave. "Of course it could be me lighting up the joint too," Roy said. The trainer recognized the gray creature, but had no experience with its partner. "Panchax, pummel!" He took fighting positions in front of the hippopotas. Roy liked this more responsible version of his partner. He was excited to fight a new enemy with a new partner. "Let's see what you've got in the light of day, Lars!"
"Panchax, Foresight!" It was clearly a day of new discovery, so Roy used another move he had no experience with. All the technique seemed to do was heighten his marshtomp's attention though. As the hippopotas approached, it kicked up an enormous mess of sand. A miniaturized sandstorm was produced between Panchax and his new opponent, obscuring their vision and constantly attacking Roy's pokémon. A more focused clump of sand struck Panchax in the face as well, and his accuracy was brought down even further. "Mud Shot! No more games!" Panchax struggled to launch the attack, and it swung wide, missing his target.
The hippopotas took the opportunity to Bite down onto Panchax's arm before recoiling into the safety of her sandstorm. "Water Gun!" Panchax tried to make out his opponent and land the attack, but it wasn't even close. Between the darkness, the Sand Stream and the Sand Attack, it didn't look very likely he was going to nail his opponent any time soon. "When I tell you to, launch a Water Gun towards my voice!" Roy ordered, and Panchax agreed, fighting just to stay inside the storm.
Roy broke through the sand and ran towards the wild pokémon, seeking it out. The hippopotas tried to Tackle Roy, but he deftly avoided the slow pokémon. The hippopotas had revealed herself from her hiding spot. "Towards me!" Roy ordered at the top of his lungs. Panchax got the message and fired off a full force attack, washing away the hippopotas along with Roy himself. The boy was sore, but at least the wild pokémon had been cleared out of their location.
After a moment, Roy would stand back up from his on the earth and address Lars after his fight. "What do you think then, tourist? Do you wanna do some investigating with a criminal?"
Hippopotas defeated! Panchax gained two levels! Lv.25 Wild Encounters 3/3 Lars Anderson

He still wasn’t used to everything being called by another name, and it took him a few moments to translate Kogane to mean Goldenrod; while Kikyo he figured out to be Violet—if he was going by what he could remember with the map he’d tried to memorize before eventually arriving in the region to start his journey anew. So of course, since he’d just arrived a few weeks ago, he had absolutely no idea about what had been happening locally—and would take the opportunity to learn from a local living in the area about what had been going on prior to his arrival. “Earthquakes can do that,” he called out before letting a bit of a smirk cross his face at the dry humor the other had cracked in an attempt to lighten the atmosphere. While the other ‘mon was deftly taken care of by the other’s Water-type, Lars was left to deal with the large, incoming… “Suijin! Hydro Pump, now! Stop it in its tracks!” he shouted as he heard a loud, distinct galloping noise that let out a roar which he vaguely recognized to be a Rhyhorn that was intent on ramming the Mudkip head-on with a Horn Attack. While the Mudkip turned to face the outline of his owner in the semi-darkness, the noise that was getting louder and louder drew its attention and a sudden blast of water quickly erupted from its mouth, hitting the Rhyhorn full-on in the face. “Okay, that’s a good start, but it’s not going to stop! Use your Hydro Pump again when it comes closer!” he continued as he heard the Rhyhorn skid to a stop before changing directions and eventually coming in with a Fury Attack—intent on gouging out the Water-type’s face in the process. Before it could even do something of that sort, another powerful blast of water hit the dual-type ‘mon right in the face, causing it to yelp out in surprise and getting completely drenched in the process. “Don’t be afraid! Show what you’re capable of, Sui! Use your Whirlpool and trap it!” Lars continued as the Rhyhorn then shook its head and then attempted another Horn Attack while charging at the smaller Mud Fish ‘mon. Now that it wanted to show its older…well, incarnation what he was capable of, the Mudkip held his ground and waited until an incoming shadow that came way too close signaled its arrival before a sudden vortex of water suddenly surrounded the Rhyhorn, catching it by surprise. “Keep it up! Once the Whirlpool falls away, use your Hydro Pump and drive it away!” he continued, watching and waiting as the Rhyhorn continued to try to escape the watery trap it had gotten itself into; screaming bloody murder all the while as it tried to use Fury Attack in an attempt to escape the watery trap. Once the Whirlpool had fallen away, the Rhyhorn then tried to charge forward again—but a third blast of water from the Mudkip had driven it back, causing the other to retreat back into the darkness. Now that the battles were all done… “Alright… now that everyone’s been dealt with, is it fine with you if we meet outside the cave to properly talk, Roy? It’s too damned dark and damp in here…” he said with a grumble before feeling a small force bump against his foot once again—an exhausted Suijin attempting to cuddle up to his companion. +2 to Mudkip, Rhyhorn KO'd MADE BY ★MEULK
