Welcome to Victory! This is a guide on the character creation process, as well as to give a new person a quick run down of the site, and finally guide them on a strong path to success. If you still have questions, feel a bit lost, or overwhelmed, be sure to speak up in the discord and some of our veteran players can point you in the right direction.
Before you dive too far into the character creation process, you should know that Victory is a pokemon based forum roleplay and while it isn't necessary that you are familiar with the game/setting, there are many references in threads and even rule posts that require some knowledge of Pokemon.
[break][break]
You do not have to play any of the games or watch the anime adaptation of Pokemon, but google may be your biggest friend when it comes to the character creation process -- mostly in the pokemon department. Remember that if you have questions, you are allowed to ask any staff member; however, we ask that an attempt be made to find the answer before hand. This is due to the busy lives our staff members have, and we encourage our players to go beyond in solving their riddles.
[break][break]
Beyond that, the first step to creating a character on Victory is registering.
[break][break]
You can use the same email for multiple characters thanks to proboards, and we ask that usernames be relevant to character names. Please do not take a canon character name unless you are reserving that canon character and they are not already taken. Display names need to be your characters firstname at minimum.
You can find the step by step process on creating a character via the template HERE, and instead we will be talking about the mindset of creating a character on Victory.
[break][break]
On this forum there is little digression between playing a wide array of characters; we only ask that they are above the age of 7. You can play older characters, however everyone starts their journey the same and you can only start with a level 5 pokemon. We currently do not allow players to transfer teams from other sites or allow players to start with full teams or pokemon in the PC.
[break][break]
Another thing we do not allow is Gijinka or shifters as they are not an aspect in the canon games or anime that we are based on. Any other types of experiments, or half breeds, or even fantastical beasts, are not allowed as well. If that is something you are interested in, please talk to staff and discuss just how much is allowed.
[break][break]
Also be sure to stop by THIS forum and give a formal hello to your fellow site members!
We allow 1 starter pokemon that begins at level 5 for every character; unless you're creating a Gym Leader, as they have a slightly different set of guidelines for character creation which can be found HERE.[break][break]
You are able to choose one pokemon from your group listing, -- see more HERE. You can find other information on pokemon, such as moves, types, and etc, HERE.[break][break]
At the time there are no players that have legendary pokemon, and we do not allow prior claims. We also do not allow characters that ARE legendary pokemon but in a human shape, or for legendary pokemon to have an influence over their character. This makes it easier on staff to create events and interactions with said legendary pokemon without worrying over a member's particular history with that pokemon.[break][break]
After you have created your account, you can go into the profile to place in your AVATAR aka an ICON. To access the profile settings, click on 'PROFILE' at the top of the home page and hit 'EDIT PROFILE'. Take a moment to become familiar with the different tabs, and you can see which one is for the AVATAR and which is for personal info and the like. You do not HAVE to fill out personal info if you do not wish to but we ask that players take the time to at least put in links to their character art for the mini profile.
[break][break]
After you put in your preferred avatar, (WHICH SHOULD BE 100x100 AT MINIMUM) head over to the Personal Tab and scroll down to see the 250x350 Hover field. You can paste in a direct link to an uploaded image for this.
[break][break]
The mini-profile also has fields for an MP3 link, player alias, personal, and fields for character links that will to their application, team, plotter, and tracker.
Congrats, your character's accepted! But your journey doesn't start just yet. After you have made your trainer card and team template, please head over to the PLAYER DIRECTORY to make sure you are being placed in, and to check out the other members characters! Rping is a very social thing and staff encourages players to plot and thread with each other to interact with other characters. This makes the most out of the exp and who knows, you might develop into some juicy plots.
[break][break]
This time might be great to think about creating your own plotter as seen HERE in the COMMUNICATION board. You can either create one for yourself or answer other players or even check out our Open Thread List for some action!
[break][break] Also don't be afraid to chat in discord, All of our members are here to RP and will be looking for threads too! Lastly, Have fun and once more welcome to VICTORY!
