Thomas would slowly make his way along the route, one hand close to his belt of Pokeballs. Rustling foliage caught the attention of the Kalosian. It was then that something jumped out from the bushes nearby. A large, green mantis-like Pokemon came at him, blades extended out and practically roaring. The trainer would quickly respond to the attack by rolling out of the path of the lunge. Upon getting a look at his attacker, the trainer would not respond with rage or fear, but a grin of audacity.

This was the one he wanted to encounter so badly.

"I've been waiting for you.", Thomas told the Scyther, who gave him a confused look.

Thomas would pull out a Pokeball from his belt, and send out Jerry the Pikachu. The wild Scyther would look down at the Pikachu the human sent out. It was clear from his expression and body language that he couldn't believe the trainer would send out such a runty creature to face him. But if the human was so confident in the mouse, he'd go with it regardless.

"Jerry, Thunderbolt!", called out Thomas.

The Pikachu would respond by firing off a thunderbolt at the Scyther, only for the large mantis to swiftly dodge the oncoming attack with a leap to the right. The Scyther would follow it up by firing off a Vacuum Wave at the Pikachu. The attack came too quickly for the Pikachu to properly react to, and knocked him to the ground.

"Jerry, you alright?", Thomas asked the Pikachu, who quickly got back on all fours, a look of rage and determination forming on the yellow Pokemon's face. "Thundershock!", called out Thomas.

The Pikachu would unleash a quick blast of electricity at the Scyther, who despite trying to dodge, didn't react to the quicker attack in time. The mantis Pokemon would cry out in pain upon taking the electric shock. Once it was over, the Scyther got back to his feet, and began to concentrate his focus, before lunging at the Pikachu with a burst of speed. The Quick Attack would send the Pikachu flying back several feet. The bloodthirsty Scyther would watch with satisfaction as the Pikachu would skid along the dirt, until smacking into a tree.

"Jerry!", Thomas called out, only for the Pikachu to call out to Thomas. Despite the punishment he had taken so far, the Pikachu was determined to see the fight through, and was far from giving up.

As the Scyther moved in on the Pikachu, he would notice something was off. His movements had become stilted and sluggish, and eventually he found himself unable to move. The Scyther's eyes were widened in panic as the effects of Paralysis set in. What he didn't know was that his Quick Attack had triggered the Pikachu's Static ability.

"Now, Thunderbolt!", called out Thomas upon seeing the opportunity present itself.

The Pikachu nodded, and loosed a powerful Thunderbolt towards the Scyther, who was now at the mercy of the Pokemon he deemed weak based off of appearance alone. The Scyther let out a loud cry of pain that would resonate through the area as the Thunderbolt struck him. The end result was that despite just hanging on, he was on the verge of losing consciousness.

But instead of ordering the finishing blow, Thomas instead toss a Pokeball towards the Scyther, hoping that he could successfully capture the insect.
