the brunette leveled zeref with a look that was partly amused and partly incredulous.
"an 'elite four' 'mon would have obliterated the shitty clown, i assure you."
she shifted her focus toward her gyarados, and furrowed her brows lightly. the serpentine pokemon's eyes were flashing a deep crimson, her expression losing its formerly lax state as a rumbling growl escaped her gaping maw.
'shit, that's definitely her 'moxie' acting up.'
ash glanced in zeref's direction before calling out to the dual-type.
"duchess," she hollered. "i'm gonna find another target for ya soon, alright? until i can do that for ya try not to wreck shit."
the large pokemon proceeded to sway, the action reminding the woman of an arbok.
"try keeping both yourself and your team outta her way," she said, addressing zeref directly. "she gets real riled after taking something down."
duchess's tail slapped against the earth with a 'thud', her eyes narrowing as her gaze shifted to take in her immediate surroundings in search of potential prey. ash's medicham and zoroark eyed her, but remained outwardly calm.

Isn’t obliterated the same thing as one shot a Pokemon like that? Zeref thought to himself before shaking his head at this. “If you say so.” The male said trying his hardest not to say what he thought out loud. In the end this female is very strong maybe one day he’ll get up to her level and use this opportunity to protect Cassa speaking of which it’s been a long time since he bumped into her. Maybe he should visit her at some point in time to keep an eye on her. His sworn duty is to keep her safe after all it from his knowledge he is failing to do his job. Things would’ve been better if he was able to snag her phone number back at the tower but in the end he had no time since their life was in danger after all. Man he feels like a jerk for not being by her side right now.

Getting back to the battlefield, Zeref backend his hand trying to catch Malice attention. The Ghost type finally noticed this however she gave a sad look before floating back over to her trainer. “Sorry buddy but I don’t want you to get knocked out like that. It’s best to let her do her thing while we’re doing our training.” Zeref would say. “You have some training to get done too we need to get you up to Parsifal’s level. Maybe there’ll be a Pokemon for you to take on.” Zeref sighed while tapping his chin. “Maybe I should ask my sister to help me out with this. She might have some pointers when it comes to training ghost type Pokemon.” He then shivered at this. “Or maybe not I bet she’s still mad about earlier.”

Just the thought of his twin sister alone makes him shiver. It’s best not to talk about it and figure out his own methods or maybe this trainer could help him out. The Ranger looked at her before shaking his head. Nah it’s best to let her do her own thing instead of training a weak person like him. If he wants to become as strong as his father and protect Cassa he needs to get stronger then he’ll feel comfortable with confronting Cassa. Gosh part of him wants to ask this lady some advice but part of him is telling him not to ah this is annoying! Zeref pulled his hair as he thought about his current situation causing Parsifal to sigh underneath his breath while watching his idiotic trainer. Oh Zeref grow up will yeah?

ash squinted her eyes in a seemingly random direction, her searching gaze having located something of interest. it was presented in the form of a mobile target.
'not just one, either. there's two of 'em.'
the girl grinned as she took in the sight of a pair of fairies, one being a marill and the other a kirlia - both familiar and relatively common when it came to this particular route. they appeared to be walking alongside one another, their mouths moving as they indulged in quiet conversation.
'must be a pretty good talk if they haven't noticed duchess yet.'
she wouldn't label the gyarados's profile as 'small' or even the least bit 'inconspicuous', after all.
"duchess, do ya see those two over there? let's work on your aim again, alright?"
the serpentine pokemon released a low rumble in acknowledgement, a spiral of water beginning to encase the end of her tail as she raised it before her. her eyes would narrow as she focused on the moving pair of pokemon before she cast the spurt of pressurized water toward them with the flick of her powerful limb.
"shit!" ash spat, bearing witness to the results of her companion's first attempt.
it had missed them only by a meter, and the wild pair would freeze and raise their gazes to shoot the gyarados and those whom accompanied her a wide-eyed stare.
'hopefully they don't try to run.'
ash wouldn't grant them the opportunity to do so, and would preemptively gesture for rook and jester to situate themselves at her side.
'just encase.'
"again, duchess!"
the 'aqua tail' that followed would manage to land a glancing blow against the marill, whom was brutally knocked off their feet as a result. a shrill cry escaped it as it landed awkwardly upon its own side.
"again!"
before the kirlia could move to assist their downed friend, the water-type was struck once more. it was sent flying into a nearby clump of brush, and would unlikely to be able to immediately recover from such a significant blow.
"nice. real nice. it only took you two tries, too. that leaves the kirlia," ash remarked, inclining her head.
duchess trembled, her eyes flashing again, the crimson shading more intense than the last. her trainer quickly noticed this and raised a hand, attempting to placate the water-type with a small gesture and her own voice.
"hold, girl. hold."
the brunette gave her pokemon a wary look, the behemoth beginning to exhibit troubling behavior as she continued to sway.
'i'll need to figure out that ability of hers sooner rather than later.'
"return, duchess!"
ash rather play it safe, especially since the gyarados could cause a significant amount of damage if they were to lose control of their mental faculties. her species were prone to rampages and bouts of violence that could potentially result in disaster. once duchess was secured within the confines of her capsule, the brunette would look to the youth in an expectant manner before gesturing toward the kirlia.
"it's all yours if ya want to deal with it, zeref. i'd hurry before it decides to book it."

Man this chick is too strong it’s giving him a headache. Zeref shook his head before taking a sip from his bottle of water however that was when he noticed something. His eyes drifted to a dancing like figure and yet it Zeref had a difficulty time getting a good view of it however, when the trainer mentioned take out the Kirlia before it books, all you could see was Zeref spitting out water from his mouth. “WHAT DID YOU SAY?” Parsifal barked at Zeref for making him get wet causing Zeref to scratch his head. “I’m sorry but it’s a fucking Kirlia!” Parsifal lifted up his ears to turn his head to see a Kirlia nearby. It looked like it was about to use Teleport but not on Parsifal’s watch! “We’re not going to let it get away!” Zeref picked up his pup and launched him across the field “GET IT PARSIFAL!”

Thanks to Zeref, Parsifal quickly turned into a ball of flames and was successful enough to ram right into the Kirlia! “MALICE GETS IN THERE QUICKLY! I need you two to block it from escaping!” Malice shook her head sighing underneath her breath to use the move PSYCHIC lifting up the Kirlia in the air to prevent it from escaping. Zeref rushed over to the psychic type Pokemon sighing underneath his breath. “Nicely done you two.”

The Ranger handed the Kirlia a potion. “I’m sorry for the quick rush like that. I didn’t mean to spook yeah. The only way to stop you from fleeing was to have Parsifal to hit you with Flame Wheel. That was embarrassing. I have a request from you little guy.” The Ranger smiled before giving a fist pump. “I’m training to become a powerful bodyguard and I would love to have you on my team. With the three of us together we will be able to protect someone I care about. We can use our strength to protect the Johto region as well. I know you're a Pokemon but I’m certain you heard or seen some crazy stuff happening in the area right?”

Zeref tried to stay calm and polite knowing darn well he wouldn’t be surprised of the Kirlia decides to flee because of that attempt attack from earlier. It’s not his fault really every time he tried to catch a Ralts it failed so the fact that he was able to encounter a Kirlia was pure luck. He noticed a slight bit of soreness coming from the Kirlia causing Zeref to cross his arms. “Man I wish I knew how to speak or understand Pokemon. My sister knows how to handle this stuff more than anything but I’m trying to get better at it.” He gave Malice a slow nod allowing his ghost type friend to lower the Kirlia back to the ground. Zeref slowly patted the psychic type on its head before giving a slow nod. “It’s up to you to decide but from the looks of it, I can tell you had it rough. We’ll make sure to take good care of yeah.”

Gosh darn it this is boring where is the fucking action? Parsifal thought while shaking his head at this boring scene. The pup flipped his tail turning around to find a Butterfree for him to catch. Although in the end the pup is grateful that Zeref finally managed to find a male Kirlia thank the heavens now he won’t be crying like a little baby anymore.

the girl couldn't help but chuckle as zeref rejoiced once he took notice to the kirlia. the interaction that followed immediately after would surprise the woman somewhat. she had never once made an attempt at befriending a 'mon prior to its capture - nor had she considered it to be a viable option.
'looks like it's working for him, though.'
despite her callous treatment of its comrade, the kirlia appeared to accept the youth's offer.
"congrats, man," ash said.
she genuinely felt good for the male's success, and couldn't help but smile at the happiness that presently radiated off him.
'i don't think i've ever been that excited for a catch before.'
"medi!"
"huh?"
ash turned her head, blinking dumbly in reaction to her fighting-type's warning shout. the girl and her medicham counterpart would then experience a telekinetic shove moments later; the power alone knocking the former right off her feet.
"...!"
landing harshly upon her rear, ash released a pained grunt, her eyes squeezing tightly shut. she scraped her leg on the way down, which resulted in a small wounded that would immediately seep. ash propped herself up as quickly as she could manage, raising her gaze until it settled upon the sight of a xatu that hovered before them.
"medi-cham!"
rook hurried to place herself between her mistress and the hostile bird, the corners of her plump lips drawn downwards.
'it's... it's pissed.'
ash blinked up at it, and was left wondering if it had somehow been connected to the defeated marill and recently captured kirlia. either way, it appeared to be eager to play the part of the aggressor as it initiated battle with the woman and her party.
'i need...'
"jester!"
the fox had resisted the psychic's power, having remained still as the energy slid harmlessly off his lean frame.
"take it down! 'dark pulse!'."
xatu proved far more proficient in battle than the last few pokemon ash had encountered so far. airborne, it easily dodged the spiraling energy that sought to impact it directly - and any blows that did land were glancing at best. despite ash's desire to exploit its weakness, she feared she would have to switch up tactics.
"xa-tu," it droned.
it flapped its wings harshly toward them, and zoroark quickly dispelled the sharpened wind that shot toward them by making use of 'dark pulse' in a timely manner.
"i'm good. i'm good."
ash breathed these words as her medicham helped her up, and would scowl fiercely up at the bird as soon as she was settled upon her own two feet.
"'night daze' - full power."
the fox eyes would narrow as he exuded a terrible energy before raising his forearms high and slamming them harshly upon the ground. as soon as they did, a shock wave of energy would be launch toward the bird. the attack successfully knocked it out of the sky, and as it struggled to return to its feet, ash would hastily bark out another order to the bipedal canine.
"'night slash'! aim for its wings!"
jester descended upon the bird with fervor, closing the distance between himself and his foe with a few lengthy strides despite the xatu's attempt to keep him at bay with an 'air slash'. his claws would glow crimson as he swiped harshly at the pokemon's limbs, the creature's beak falling open as it released a pained shriek.
"pull back!"
before he had the chance to deliver another blow upon the injured beast, ash would intervene and command him to retreat. the fox reluctantly did so, his chest heaving as he stared at his foe expectantly. the bird would teeter and then stumble away before falling over, eyes falling shut with a harsh exale.

Zeref smile grew bigger and bigger as he held the pokeball in his hands. He couldn’t believe after a whole month he finally managed to capture a Kirlia. Although it wasn’t a Ralts as he planned, at least he got something and he sure hopes this guy is alright with wanting to evolve. He felt tears in his eyes but he quickly brushed it off before giving a fist pump. “Thank goodness I’ve been trying to catch one for a whole month now I’m so happy!” The Ranger turned his head to the strong trainer and all you could see was a huge smile on his face. “Thank you much appreciated.” The Ranger would say giving a slow nod of approval. He threw his pokeball into the air to allow his new partner in crime to come out from hiding.

The Kirlia gave a slight bow to Zeref as the young Ranger bent down to greet it. “We haven’t fully introduced ourselves yet. My name is Zeref Sanders I’m a Ranger and a bodyguard so it’s nice to meet you. The Growlithe over there is Parsifal he’s my first Pokemon since childhood and this friendly ghost is Malice the detective. I wanted to welcome you to the family.” Parsifal gave a slow nod while Malice flew up to give him a small friendly greeting.

The Kirlia eyes lightened up grateful he joined a friendly trainer before giving a nod of approval. On the other hand Parsifal walked up and started speaking to the Kirlia causing Zeref and Malice to narrow their eyes. Although he doesn’t understand his Pokemon, he has a feeling Parsifal is either talking shit about him or is talking shit while explaining whose in charge around these parks. The Ranger wouldn’t be surprised if it was both and from the looks of it, the Kirlia gave a nod as if the little guy was taking every word seriously. “What are you telling him Parsifal?” Zeref asked causing Parsifal to look up at his trainer and snickered. “Parsifal I don’t like that snickering!” Zeref moaned. “Anyways I hope you’re alright with me calling you Lancelot. Are you okay with that name?” After getting a spin Zeref gave another fist pump. “Great our goal is to become the strongest bodyguard out there while protecting Pokemon as much as we can! It’ll be tough work but we’ll get there! Yes I’m so excited for this it’s going to be great!”

Giving himself a nod of approval, the Ranger finally turned his attention to the other trainer’s battle. “But anyways damn that looked like a tough match a Xatu huh?” He would say as Lancelot gave another nod of approval. “We’ll get there eventually we’ll be just as strong! Alright our goal is to get to her level even if it means learning how to fight trainers.” Zeref covered his eyes remembering that battle he had during that mission with Kyle. “At least I somehow managed to survive from that mission with that dog trainer. Those trainers were so tough I thought I was going to die.” Parsifal shook his head while Malice pouted since she didn’t even have the chance to fight in that whole entire mission meanwhile Lancelot eyes sparkled at this thought realizing how powerful Zeref was. “I’m sorry for not using you in that one Malice but next time you’ll be the star of the show!” The Ranger promised while giving thumbs up. “Even that dog trainer was strong shit I forgot his name fuck me!” Zeref shook his head realizing how stupid he is for not remembering this guys name again.

"'dog trainer'?"
ash blinked somewhat dumbly at the youth, and was almost immediately reminded of her sibling.
'kyle and his shitty dogs,' she thought.
she couldn't help but grin at the thought before shrugging in a nonchalant manner and moving to hastily examine her thoroughly ruffled fox. he appeared to be mostly fine, having suffered only a few relatively minor injuries from the confrontation with the stone-faced flying-type.
"go on ahead and rest, jester," ash said. "you're a lil winded."
she gave him time to bid farewell to both zeref and his respective companions before returning him to the comfortable confines of his safari ball. once the capsule was secured upon her belt, she'd shift her gaze to settle upon rook.
"you're still good to go. right, girl?"
once the fighter nodded, ash would look to the swearing youth, her smile remaining full.
"i'm going to be heading out soon. training and all that, yeah?"
the girl ran her fingers through her locks in a mostly absent fashion, silently mulling over her options as she did so. there was no real desire to linger and indulge in further conversation with zeref, especially when there were other things that required her attention.
"hey, man," she said. "good luck getting to where ya want to go."
she gestured toward a seemingly random direction.
"we're heading out."
ash took one or two steps before she grew still, her eyes growing round as they focused upon the sight of a grim-faced wigglytuff. the deceptively cute creature was staring holes into the woman, a look of disapproval written across its soft features as its gaze shifted to the recently felled xatu before returning to the one responsible.
"it started it," ash blurted.
'well, that's not necessarily true, is it?'
the fairy-type didn't appear to care much for her terribly rushed excuse, and would open its mouth wide as it produced a potent 'hyper voice'. ash clapped her hands over her ears the moment it reached her and threatened to knock her on her ass again, her eyes squeezing tightly shut as she did so. the noise assaulted her senses, leaving her in a slightly dizzied state.
"q-queen."
ash released the steel-type to take her place before the woman and her medicham, whom also bore a tight grimace in reaction to the wild pokemon's attack.
"maw!"
queen grinned at the sight of the round beast, her gaze shifting to take all of it in.
"use 'iron head'!"
the mawile lunged forward, surprisingly speedy despite its hefty and jaw-like appendage. the attack successfully impacted the creature's middle, forcing it back roughly several meters.
"keep it up!"
they stuck to queen's offensive capabilities as a steel-type, the pokemon spending the majority of her time in battle covered by a shimmering layer of gray as she closed the distance between herself and the wigglytuff multiple times over.
"good job, queen," ash praised.
the battle would come to its conclusion within an adequate amount of time, with ash hurrying to return her visibly satisfied mawile once she had accomplished her task of defeating the creature.
"alright," the girl breathed. "i'm outta here."
she took the time to offer zeref a wave before hurrying away with her medicham at her side.
