[attr="class","smdbody"] roughly several weeks had passed since she had been here last, and it appeared very much the same. even the procedure, which involved the surrendering of one's ticket in exchange for three empty capsules had been the usual fair.
'dunno why i expected things to change up in less than a month.'
ash's very first steps into the zone were tentative, her gaze shifting to and fro as she attempted to detect any sign of the newly introduced wildlife. she wasn't particularly surprised that she failed to catch sight of anything of interest, and would likely have to proceed further into the depths of the various areas of this place.
'i'm here for a reason.'
the moment she had seen the list of potential 'mons that had been brought into the controlled environments was the moment she had acquired a ticket and hurried to take part. while eevees weren't high on her list of personal favorites, she was aware that her brother had taken an interest in obtaining one.
'i haven't given him a gift in - like - forever, have i?'
the realization had caused her to make up for the missed birthdays by gifting him with a suitable companion that appealed to the youth's personal tastes.
'just gotta find one. i think i'll try the plains and then the forested areas.'

[attr="class","smdbody"] "mienfoo - the martial arts pokemon - they seclude themselves in the mountains and devote themselves to training. the form of their kicks and chops differs from pack to pack." ash peered down at the screen of her device and bit her lip, the fighting-type that she had only just encountered peering at her with a harsh scowl upon its muzzle. they had ran into one another only a few moments ago, and both had dedicated what felt like a solid minute or two toward simply staring at one each other. 'it's definitely a fighter.' attributes that she admired in a 'mon were clearly seen as the mienfoo shifted into a defensive stance. it was done reluctantly, but its posturing was perfect, the creature obviously well adept at the art of combat. 'but it's not - ' ash released a sharp exhale, realizing that she couldn't waste her limited resources on the fighting-type no matter how much she wanted to. she tucked her pokedex away, and pursed her lips as she eyed the wild fighter up and down. 'right - right. but i can fight it, at least.' rook made for the obvious choice when it came to this particular match up, the pokemon appearing in a flash of light as she was released from the confines of her capsule. "you know what to do, rook." the medicham and mienfoo's eyes would lock, and it wouldn't be long before the former easily altered her posture to reflect the bipedal 'mon. blows would be exchanged a split second later, the flurry of movement proving difficult to track as the pair closed the distance between themselves in a few steps. 'holy shit it's fast,' ash thought, visibly impressed by the display. mienfoo proved itself to be a formidable opponent, its speed surpassing rook's - but only by a small margin. the blows that it landed were swift and were quickly followed up, the mammal's attacks light yet swift and mercilessly given. "ice punch," ash prompted. the order was followed once the wild pokemon had lost its balance for only a moment, leaving itself exposed to the critical blow that would slam into its exposed belly and cause it to almost immediately fall unconsciousness. "good job, rook," the girl said. "we're not done, though. i'm sure there's a few more of those around here for you to fight." - defeated mienfoo - + 1 on rook the medicham -

[attr="class","smdbody"] she happened upon the eevee only a few moments later, having followed through with her plan to explore a patch of land that was entirely composed of lengthy stretches of tall and uncut grass. the individual green blades tickled at the exposed flesh of her legs, and ash found herself taking care to watch where she stepped. her gaze would flit from her feet to the path ahead, multiple senses straining at once as she took stock of her immediate surroundings.
'at least i know there aren't any poison-types out here.'
the mere idea of getting bitten by one left her in a wary state, but she continued onward despite this. she wouldn't be cowed by the mere prospect of danger, after all.
'nothing yet.'
there was a natural silence here that caused the woman's guard to relax somewhat as she continued her search. it felt as though she was alone, even, with only the wind and the distant call of birds to potentially serve as a distraction from her venture.
"i wonder how they maintain all of this," ash said, her volume kept low.
did they allow for mother nature to simply take hold? how did they go about shuffling 'mons from one location to the next? how did they keep certain people out?
'maybe i'll actually look it up this time when i'm outta here.'
the normal-type that she had been hunting would step into view as the thought crossed her mind, having just freed itself from a particularly thick clump of grass. it blinked up at her through bleary eyes the moment ash had stepped into view, its form growing stiff and its features reflecting its surprise as it continued to peer up at the woman.
"ah."
ash grinned, the smile containing far too many teeth.
"just what i've been lookin' for."
'don't run.'
the girl reached for her belt.
'don't run.'
the eevee retreated a step.
'don't - '
ash spat out a curse as the little beast sprinted into the grasses, almost losing sight of it the moment it did so. but its location would be revealed as clumps of blades would shift violently some distance away.
"knight!"
the luxray was quickly released and his mistress would thrust a finger in the fleeing eevee's general direction to indicate its location.
"take it down! take it down before it gets away!"
knight's round ears would twitch, his strange eyes adopting an eerie yet familiar glow as he took advantage of his ability to peer past solid objects. and once his gaze locked upon the figure of the frightened normal-type, he would proceed with the chase. the eevee made for fast and unpredictable prey as it darted to and fro to avoid the snapping of the male's jaws as he rushed forth to close the distance between himself and the tiny creature.
"try knocking it off its paws," ash hollered.
the brunette struggled to keep up with the pair, nearly tripping herself over the tall grasses multiple times over.
'ugh!'
she stumbled again, a light grimace forming as she very nearly twisted her ankle.
"lux!"
her electric-type had heeded her command at the same time, his paw lashing out to force the eevee off its feet. it was sent sprawling, its chin slamming into the earth as it released a sharp cry.
"thunder fang!"
ash would recover from her near tumble, struggling to make her way closer to the quarreling pair as the normal-type was granted enough time to stand and backpedal upon its presumably dainty paws.
"luxray," knight rumbled, baring his teeth.
electric prongs appeared before his maw, curved and frighteningly sharp as he descended upon the much smaller normal-type. it would squeal and then shriek as the molded energy dug into its small frame, its form quivering and its eyes squeezing tightly shut against the pain. its flailing would be momentary as it suddenly grew limp, knight retreating a step as an arrogant gleam entered his harsh gaze.
"lux."
the feline appeared to be wholeheartedly satisfied by what he considered to be a quick victory. unfortunately, the normal-type wasn't done, smart enough to 'play dead' for the luxray. it was granted an opening, and would scramble onto its paws the moment knight had retreated a step.
"watch out, knight!"
the entirety of the eevee's body slammed into the luxray's face, nearly knocking out the pokemon due to the blunt force alone. the pain was so sudden and so sharp, that knight released a dull roar as his flaring nostrils seeped crimson and his mouth filled with the coppery-tasting liquid. he had bit his tongue and was suffering from a bloody nose, and this would leave him in a highly agitated state. the feline stumbled back, his gaze reflecting his astonishment before he leveled the bristling eevee with a truly withering look.
"knight..."
ash nervously licked her lips.
"knight," she repeated, managing to regain the cat's attentions by raising her voice. "thunderbolt."
the normal-type moved to dodge, only to find its limbs were uncooperative. the thunder fang had somehow managed to cripple it, and its eyes would grow wide with panic as a beam of electricity mercilessly shot toward it. once it came into contact, it was left in a truly pitiful state where it could barely stand. its gaze shifted as it sought out someplace to flee - to hide, even.
"another."
another thunderbolt was administered, and the eevee could only manage a glare and a sharp exhale, its tiny frame trembling violently. it took a few shaky steps toward the luxray, wavering upon its own feet as it panted, its mouth now agape as it desperately sucked in the humid air. knight prepared another attack only for ash to release a sharp whistle of warning.
"stop."
after halting the electric-type, she produced a safari ball and tossed it, observing with a mostly neutral look as it bounced against the eevee's skull.
