After having arrived in Kogane by way of train, Thomas decided to check out the area. Specifically, he felt it was a good time to visit the National Park, in order for him and Shredder not only to stretch out, but to potentially meet a new ally. After all, it had been a good six years since he last captured a Pokemon properly, rather than receiving one as a gift, as he had with Shredder.
The Kalosian, who was garbed in a short-sleeved shirt, a pair of beige pants, and black boots, stuck out like a sore thumb among the park goers. The Sneasel, who was recently released from his Pokeball, walked side by side with his trainer in the warmth, clearly looking none to happy about the current conditions. If Thomas were able to understand the cries of the Sneasel, he would hear the Dark-type's grumbling and complaining about the heat they were walking in.
But even if Thomas were capable of understanding what he was saying, it wasn't as if he would really respond to it. After all, the weather wasn't even that bad, certainly not bad enough to really do any damage to a Sneasel. Besides, Thomas felt that Shredder would have to learn how to tough out such conditions.
Thomas would watch the area around him, waiting for any Wild Pokemon to spring out to face him.

The rustling of grass would immediately catch the duo's attention. Thomas stared intently at the then hidden Pokemon coming towards them, while Shredder would strike an overly dramatic pose. Finally, a Minun popped out of the grass, waving at the duo, while letting out an adorable squeak. Thomas would look at the Minun, while the Sneasel would lower his guard, wondering if this little rodent was supposed to be his first opponent. The Minun, seeing that the Sneasel had dropped his guard, quickly smacked into the ice weasel with a Quick Attack, before then laughing. Shredder, clearly angry at the Minun, fired off an Ice Shard at the creature in a moment of anger. Upon being smacked with the Ice Shard, the creature cried out in pain, before giving the Sneasel a sad look, followed up by an endearing, yet sad-sounding growl. "Shredder!", Thomas called out to the Sneasel, who turned to him. "Hone your Claws, and go in for a Feint Attack.", Thomas told the Sneasel quietly. With a toothy grin, the Sneasel would sharpen his claws against each other, before turning back to the Minun, a nicer look on his face. The Minun got ready to try to Nuzzle the Sneasel, only for the Sneasel to strike first, slamming into the Minun's mid-section, sending it flying a good few feet. Dropping all pretenses, the Minun would struggle back to his feet, and charge the Sneasel, attempting to get in close for another attempt at a Nuzzle. "Now, Ice Shard!", Thomas called out to the Sneasel. In an overly dramatic fashion, the Sneasel started forming a shard of ice, before flinging it at the Minun with dramatic flair. The Minun would cry out in pain as the Ice Shard pegged him, before falling to the ground unconscious. The trainer studied the Minun for a moment, before deciding to leave it. "Good showing, Shredder.", Thomas said to the Sneasel, who was practically jumping for joy at his first win.

With Shredder's little celebration finished, Thomas and the Sneasel walked away from the unconscious Minun. Not too far off from where their battle took place, something had been watching it play out. The Pachirisu immediately became curious about Thomas and the Sneasel, and as the two were walking, began to trail behind them, seeing where they were headed. As it became apparent that the duo were just wandering the Park, the Pachirisu took it upon herself to initiate contact with the human and his Sneasel. Charging forward, it didn't take her long to get in front of them, the long grass she was in concealing her movements. Despite this, and because she was moving at a fast pace, the sounds of rustling grass caught the attention of Thomas and Shredder. As they stopped, the Pachirisu dashed in front of them, crying something out at them. Shredder took it as a challenge, getting into a fighting stance. "Start out with an Ice Shard.", Thomas told the Sneasel. The Sneasel would form a shard of ice from the air, before lobbing it at the Pachirisu, only for the electric squirrel to swiftly move to the left of the attack with a well timed Quick Attack. While Shredder gave off a look of irritation in response to the dodge, Thomas seemed to keep his cool, keeping his focus on the Pachirisu, seeing what she'd do next. The Pachirisu would smash into the Sneasel with a Quick Attack. The Sneasel was knocked to the ground, but quickly leaped back to his feet, as the Pachirisu laughed at the Ice-type. "Feint Attack.", Thomas told the Sneasel, who grinned, before going in close, and swiping at the Electric-type harshly. At this point, the Pachirisu hunkered down, staying still, waiting for the Sneasel to attack her again. But as the Sneasel got himself ready for another Feint Attack, Thomas called out to him. "Shredder, do not attack now!", the Kalosian would exclaim. Shredder would give him a confused, somewhat irritated look. "It wants you to attack it. Instead, just Hone your Claws!", Thomas told the Sneasel. Despite his reservations with Thomas' orders, Shredder would obey, sharpening his claws against each other. The Pachirisu would remain in her hunkered stance. "Again, Hone Claws!", Thomas called out. Once again, Shredder used Hone Claws, while Thomas watched the Pachirisu. Finally, the Pachirisu came out of her stance, unable to do anything with the time she was Biding. "Ice Shard!", Thomas called out. The Sneasel quickly fired an Ice Shard at the Pachirisu, and with a cry of pain, the Pachirisu hit the ground, knocked out. "Good work, Shredder!", Thomas called out, before he and the Sneasel continued on their way, leaving the Pachirisu.
Sneasel gains 2 levels.

As Thomas and Shredder strolled through the park, something would bump into Thomas' boot. A small, red ball would roll just inches away from his boot, before the Sneasel would notice, and grab the thing. The Sneasel would take a moment to study the red ball, before a yellow rodent dashed into the area. The Pikachu would stop to look at Thomas and Shredder, taking notice to the ball in the claw of the Ice-type. <'Hey, can I have that back, please?'>, the Pikachu would cry out to the Sneasel. <'This thing yours? Ah-whatever, here you are....'>, the Sneasel said to the Pikachu, before casually tossing it towards the Electric Mouse. The Pikachu caught the thing, before looking over to them. With a playful grin, the Pikachu slid the ball over towards the Sneasel. Shredder would give the Pikachu a confused look, but Thomas got an idea of what the Pikachu wanted now. The Kalosian would scoop the ball up, before sliding it over to where the Pikachu was. The Pikachu looked happy to have seen that the human knew what it wanted, and began to slide the ball back to him once he stopped it. From there, the human and the Pikachu would send the ball between one another back and fourth. And realizing that they were playing a game, the Sneasel pouted, as if wanting to play as well. "Here, Shredder, I'll let you take over.", Thomas would tell the Sneasel. Surprised, but elated, Shredder went to grab the ball, before twisting around and sending the ball back to the Pikachu. The Pikachu, as usual, would send the ball back to Shredder. The Sneasel would perform a flashy backflip as he went to catch the ball, only to fall on his back. "You okay, Shredder?", Thomas asked, trying to hold back his laughter a bit. The look Shredder shot him showed that he knew that he was holding back laughter, but nodded that he was fine. "G-good.", Thomas said, still choking back the laughter. Shredder just sent the ball back to the Pikachu with a toss. But instead of sliding it back to them, the Pikachu would instead approach the duo. <'That was a lot of fun. A lot of humans come through the park, but hardly any of them play with us. What brings you two here?'>, the Pikachu asked the Sneasel. <'Oh, we actually came from the Kanto Region not too long ago. My master here's looking for someone, or something like that.'>, the Sneasel would explain to the Pikachu. <'Wait, so that means you two are on an adventure? Sounds like fun!'>, the Pikachu replied back to the Sneasel. <'What, you want to join, or something? My master did say something about needing to recruit more.'>, the Sneasel offered the Pikachu. <'Would he really have me join him?"'>, the Pikachu asked. <'Well, let's see...'>, Shredder trailed off, before grabbing one of the vacant Pokeballs from Thomas' bag, then handing it to him. Shredder gestured towards the ball, and the Pikachu, who looked up at them. "Did you want to come with us, little guy? I'd be happy to have you on board!", Thomas said to the Pikachu. If the Pikachu accepted his offer, he would attempt to use the Pokeball on the Electric-type. In any case, Shredder was glad that Thomas extended the offer.
