[attr="class","smdbody"]she rested her hand against the wall, noting that it was cool and surprisingly dry. her fingers pressed against the multiple man-made grooves, her light focusing on the occasional bit of crude artwork. dried ink revealed barely legible messages, advice, and pieces of poetry that stained the formerly blank walls. ash doubted they would ever be washed away, seeing as no one in particular was charged with thoroughly cleaning the interior of such a place. 

'at least there isn't any trash lying around,' she thought. 

the young woman was half-tempted to leave behind her own mark. it had been a personal wish of hers to somehow leave behind something for the world to remember her by. it was only when ash had turned sixteen that she had been struck with the realization that the path she was currently on was the way to do it. ash intended to be a powerful fighter - a martial artist whom was both strong in body and mind. she wanted people to look upon her in awe. it would require blood, sweat and tears to reach such a point - but she fully intended to do so. 

"maw!" 

her pokemon slapped her thigh in an urgent manner, causing the young woman to free herself from her thoughts in a near instant. 

"what is it?" 

the fairy gestured in a seemingly random direction, and the young woman's grip would tighten around the handle of her flashlight as she quickly shifted it. the sight of a snarling canine greeted her, the small beast stepping closer with its teeth bared as it produced a rumbling growl. 

"it's a poochyena." 

her pokemon moved to conjure a fairy wind against the dark-type without being prompted to do so. beautiful bits of dust that temporarily illuminated the cave's interior would be cast in the wild pokemon's general direction, and the poochyena would respond with a tackle. the skirmish was short and brutal, the dark-type succumbing to its injures after a brief period of time had been spent taking hits. 

'not something i can use,' ash thought, peering down at the now limp form of the pokemon. 

she thought of her brother, and his fixation on anything which vaguely resembled a canine before releasing a little snort.

'but it'd definitely make for good trading fodder.' 

after securing the wild creature, she moved toward the exit, leaving the cavern and its wall art behind.
