Alright, so maybe the Asagi Café was a bit cliche, but honestly it was a favorite spot of Leon’s and he wasn’t about to not invite Zatka to it. In Leon’s humble - and correct - opinion, this place was the best coffee in Johto. Again, that was probably exaggerating, but it was worth the wait. Well, not that Leon had to wait. Honestly, most of his tips and bonuses from the Horned Ranchers went straight into his coffee budget. He even got a credit card with the place so he could simply pay the balance off when he got bonuses. Coffee and clothes and Leon’s a happy lion. Speaking of being a lion, he was starting to worry. Was that lion-ly of him? It didn’t matter. What did matter was that he’d told Zatka to be there and he was starting to wonder if maybe it was a mistake. Mostly, he wondered if Zatka had been serious when he said he wanted to actually swap numbers. Like, was this some sort of pretend Zatka that Brian hired to look like him and pretend to be him so that he could further remain out of the spot light?! That was a ridiculous thought that got a scrunched nose and a grunt form Leon before being completely discarded. No, he figured Zatka wouldn’t stand him up, which was exactly why he was there ten minutes early. That, and he wanted to have a decent spot in line before Zatka got there. Worst case scenario, he’d have to wait in line again and get a second coffee. Uh, yay! Best case scenario they’d get their coffee at the same time, Zatka could join him in his place in line, and he could enjoy the coffee a bit longer with Zatka’s shining company. Honestly, he kept thinking back on the performance and hoping that Zatka didn’t let it get him down too much. He knew how disappointing it could be to place low- well on his end more like not placing at all. But Zatka had at least gotten third, right?? That was exciting! He wouldn’t be excited personally though. Because being not placed would have felt the same as getting third place. After all, doesn’t everybody spell fun, w-i-n? No? Just Leon? Oops. As he shifted his weight in line, he looked down at his wardrobe. He didn’t want to look like he was trying, so he’d put on a pair of tight jeans with a light purple shirt, both in color and fabric, and a pair of black sneakers. His Pokéballs were strapped to his belt, not really all that concealed but close enough to him that they couldn’t get snatched without him noticing they were gone. After all, that would have sucked if he suddenly lost Taft. Literally would feel as if he had a hole in his heart if the little shit was gone from his side. After his one over of himself he was taking a step in line to make up for the empty space created when the line moved. He decided he looked as good as he was gonna look, moving a hand idly through his hair. He’d worn his glasses that day because he liked to give his contacts a rest if he wasn’t working on the ranch and his hair was pushed over to the side. The wind on the way to the café had dried it that way. words. 576 notes. Zatka Matrick

★ Shut up and dance with me. Time management was not Zatka's strong suit. It didn't help that he always liked to make an impression. Though he pretty much figured his day clothes would work for a day date. The promise of filing paperwork later being met with rolling eyes. If they really needed it they had his recordings so he felt no sense of shame about it.
He was still figuring out this coordination thing so a date was exactly what he needed. A pick me up that told him he still was hot and drool-worthy. Girls just weren't going for the playboy's enough these days. Though guys had become more open to one night stands the hopeless romantic in him wanted at least a little more. He'd probably settle for sex friends though there was really no romance in something that sounded so archaic.
He walked down the street turning a few heads. Ah, right, his reading glasses. He took them off pocketing them in well his work jacket. He really didn't think this through did he. He was such a scatterbrain well most of the time. He did at least remember his wallet right. Zatka checked, yep it was there along with four of his six balls. Lewa and Mara were at home with the TV on.
He wasn't quite early but not quite late either as he looked at his watch. Literally just a minute after the set time. Probably cause he had rushed after seeing the clock. Fashionably late he supposed with it just being a minute after. He grinned as he stepped into the cafe looking for familiar blonde hair.
Though in all honesty, he was not expecting what he was seeing. Combed over hair and glasses he almost looked like a completely different person. He looked smarter, to be honest. And him with just his work coat they would definitely be the center of attention.
"From cute to sexy you really can pull off any look can't you," Zatka said joining him. A cheshire grin on his face as he couldn't help but enjoy seeing the new side of him.

Leon was almost at the counter by time Zatka had finally showed up. A small sort of tingle moved through his chest and down to his hands when he heard Zatka’s smooth voice. It was strange, how Zatka’s voice was already distinguished in Leon’s head as belonging to him. Maybe it was because Leon wanted to be able to tell the man apart form the others. Or maybe it was because Leon had watched way too many of the movies again during their time apart. Probably that. Either way, he gave Zatka a charming smile before waving his comment off and letting out a huffed sigh. “ Lucky me didn’t have work today, so I decided to take a shower and be a real boy.” He shrugged his shoulders like what Zatka said wasn’t a big deal. Oh, but it had been. Leon was definitely fighting back the urge to block. His hair wasn’t down to block the blush this time so he needed to try and control the heat ratio in his cheeks a bit better than he normally did. A distraction would help him well enough with that, so he looked at Zatka’s frame and gave a soft smile. “ But I can see you probably just came from work.” He moved over to pull at the collar of Zatka’s lab coat with his fingers, tugging it lightly before letting it go. “ Cute lab coat. Is that, mortician mandatory?” He imagined it probably was, and his tone showed no judgement. As a matter of fact, he was genuinely curious as to whether or not he wore it every day because he was made to or because he wanted to. There was a big difference. Take Leon’s work uniform for example. If he could not wear the antler horns and the strange shirt and the boots and the pants, he so wouldn’t! He’d take a damned skirt over those antlers. They gave him head aches and made his back hurt... words. 329 notes. Zatka Matrick

★ Shut up and dance with me. A real boy hmm, Zatka chuckled at his playful words standing up beside him. His attention was turned towards his lab coat as he ever so lightly fingered it making him smirk. The gesture was playful and made him wonder just how handsy the two of them would get before the day was done. Unlike Leon he wasn't afraid to let his cheeks get a little pink.
"Only in the office. I'm just a bit of a scatterbrain. Forgot to hang it up before rushing out the door. All cause I was too eager to see you," Zatka said reaching in his pocket for his reading glasses. "Got these too," he said putting them on. "Unfortunately I need reading glasses so on any given day in the office I look like this." He gave a small twirl before chuckling.
"I gotta say though never quite gave up on fashion. If you look good you feel good. And you look very good," Zatka said giving a wink.
"You must have got here quite early," Zatka said noticing the line. "What you like? I can stand for the rest and get it for us if you'd like to rest some." There were only two people in front of them so it wasn't like it really mattered either way.
Fortunately, Zatka's coffee habit was rather simple. Half creamer, half coffee, and two spoon fulls or in this case two packets of sugar. He hated the bitterness but after some long office nights, he came to appreciate caffeine.

With the way Zatka seemed to be comfortable around him, Leon was honestly thankful. If one was comfortable one was more apt to speak and honestly? Leon liked to listen more than he liked to speak. It was rare for him to string together more than four sentences unless he was explaining himself or drunk or both. So basically when he was with Vannah and not really any other time. Sometimes he had long conversations with Cooper but then again he was usually in tutorial or work mode with Cooper so that hardly counted. It was nice to have a break from all of that here with Zatka. Just getting coffee and hanging out. Touching jackets, spinning around and showing oneself off and being all around fun. The spin and glasses got a smile to form on Leon’s features and he looked Zatka up and down as he spun. Wow, so many lines. Leon wasn’t sure where to begin other than he wasn’t mad about it. In fact, this was a subtle reminder that he was a good looking guy who was obviously able to attract a decent guy if he wanted to. Not only was Zatka eager to see him but Zatka thought he looked good. He was officially okay with the fact that he had bike dried hair and wore the tight pants. Well, ‘tight’ pants. Maybe Vannah was right. Maybe he’d gained some muscle in his legs from working on the Ranch because these didn’t used to be so tight... not that he was complaining. “ I plan on getting an iced coffee. I like cold drinks more than hot. At least in the summer anyway. My insides can’t be the same temperature as my outsides, it’s like, an overload.” Oh right and he tended to ramble when he was a little nervous which Zatka managed to get him nervous with all those nice words of his. “ But I can get it, it’s not a big deal.” He waved his hand. “ Thanks though... what’s your preferred drink?” He looked up from his wallet as he fished out his member card, playing with it in his fingers as he listened to Zatka’s response. words. 364 notes. ★ Shut up and dance with me. "Half and half to be honest. Not one much for the bitterness so I tend to drown it in creamer and a couple things of sugar. It's always best lukewarm too," Zatka said pondering to himself if that was a little odd. Lukewarm coffee for some reason just tasted better to him.
"I haven't experimented too much with coffee," he admitted. He figured out what he liked and had just stuck with it. He had no idea why some people went all out. In fact, he was half sure he didn't even know what a frap was. "I do love those little stirring sticks they sell with the chocolate on the inside though. Never use it for my coffee, however, I just eat them." He gave a small laugh knowing he wasn't the only one. He just couldn't be, cause it was chocolate wrapped in a cookie.
"Ah, speaking of food. Shall we munch on something as well," Zatka looked up at the board to see what they offered before they reached the counter. His gaze going almost immediately to the breads. Banana bread always was a good choice in his mind. Though they also had lemon and monkey bread which were also good. Tough choices to make.
They could also get a whole pie or something to share. which begged the question of what did his date like. Zatka personally could eat anything he was like a bottomless black hole. The only thing he refused to touch was leaves like in salads which they didn't bake into pies....right?
"So many choices so little time," Zatka said grabbing his wallet from his pocket to pay his half. "You want to order something to share or shall we each get our own?"

Half and half, hm? Leon should have guessed. Seemed that Zatka was like Leon used to be as a trainer. Coffee was something that kept him awake and now he’d experimented enough that he almost couldn’t do life without a cup in the morning, one midway through the day, and then another at night to keep him awake until at least nine like a normal adult. Man, how old was he though? Seemed ancient sometimes and adolescent others. Bless. “ Rolled wafers.” Leon pipped in about the sticks with a whispered correction but mostly kept it to himself. Why? Because he didn’t see the need to embarrass Zatka before Zatka even got to know him. Even if it was, you know, a forced habit of his to correct people. A curse, really. “ We can share,” he trailed off while looking at the food options. “ Honestly I’m not really that picky, so long as it’s not dry...” Unfortunately, Leon was more 'texture' picky than he was 'taste' picky. He’d pretty well eat anything but textures were a concern for him. After his answer, Leon stepped to the side next to Zatka and began his order at the secondary register. A large ultra caramel frappe with all the extras and two shots of espresso because Leon was needy. He liked his coffee sweet and strong at the same time, a hard balance but turbo shots made it a bit easier to find these days. Once he ordered, he gave Zatka a brow wiggle before making his way over to where they stood to wait for their drinks to be prepared. words. 266 notes. Zatka Matrick

★ Shut up and dance with me. He had whispered something that Zatka couldn't hear. He cast him a questioning glance before smiling just a bit. He wasn't sure what it was but he wasn't running for the door so it couldn't be anything bad. Also, a texture eater how rare. Texture mattered little over flavor to Zatka dry foods just needed water or milk to go with them.
At least he wasn't against sharing. The only time Zatka was was when it was too good to share. Which usually meant things like mini lava cakes and things. Wait did he just wiggle his brow? Zatka gave a chuckle he couldn't help himself. When was the last time he'd gone out with someone who knows his real name? It'd been years now and despite acting like a fanboy at first he was treating him normally which was great. Part of him had wondered if he'd be outed on their date yet there seemed to be no reason to worry.
Zatka stepped up next and shared his order. "Add one medium caramel apple pie," Zatka added handing the lady a bill. He knew a lot of people put caramel in their coffee as well so it seemed like a good fit. Plus caramel was silky and would only add to softening up that pie crust.
"Gotta say its been a while since I've done something so normal with another person. I do hope we get to do this more often. Maybe even come to see you in your work outfit," Zatka said giving a wink as he joined him. He had to wonder what he wore probably some plain clothes. Kids could be very messy especially pokemon ones. It was the main reason he figured he'd never have any of his own. He wasn't dead set against it though he couldn't exactly say he loved the idea of kids. Baby pokemon okay they could be kind of cute.

Leon's eyes watched Zatka as he ordered them a pie. Oh, who didn't like pie though, really? Insane crazy people, probably. No, they seemed the type to like it, actually. Maybe people that couldn't handle it on their sweet tooth? Probably more accurate. Either way, Leon got the coffees as they were set down, holding his own and handing Zatka his drink. " It's good to see the normal in life as much as the glam." He shrugged. The shrug was Leon's way to show that what he said was his opinion and not fact. Basically, Zatka was free to disagree. Opinions weren't right or wrong, they're just different views. At least that's what society would lead one to believe anyway. " And as far as my work uniform goes?" Leon couldn't help but shake his head and frown. "That's a sight. It's the Horned Ranch." The name wasn't getting easier to advertise... " So, we have to wear different types of horns. Cooper, my boss, he wears Miltank horns. I could have gone with the same, but they were too big for my head. So I went with more Sawsbuck sort of antlers." He motioned with his hands, managing not to spill his coffee by the grace of Arceus. words. 207 notes. sorry these are short, but it's conversation so i don't wanna be lengthy you know? Zatka Matrick

★ Shut up and dance with me. Normal wasn't as fun as glam but it was definitely a lot more relaxing. And at times rather funny. His disappointed face at being asked about his work uniform earning a curious glance and a smirk. A smirk that only grew as one hand came up to half hide a smile as he described the fact he had to wear horns.
"I definitely need to see that," Zatka said taking a drink to prevent himself from laughing too much. The poor guy was the one who had to wear it after all at least his coat made him look smart. Horns though...oh all the jokes he could make. Would it be okay? He needed to figure out when it was too much with this guy.
"I bet you've heard them all,"Zatka said grinning across the table. "All those horny jokes." Yep, he couldn't help it. No barriers between brain and mouth it was his everlasting curse.
"Sorry, sorry," Zatka said placing head in hand to hide his face. "Most embarrassing thing I've worn is a floral suit my grandmother made me wear so we matched for a family photo." That should even things out a bit. He had been eight at the time and oh god it was such an ugly picture.
"Bright yellow the whole nine works," Zatka said chuckling. "Never again shall I wear floral."

The whole nine works. That’s what Leon had focused on. In all of what Zatka had said, that was the one thing that stuck out. He couldn’t help how he grinned. What region was this guy originally from again?? Because at that moment, between the laughter and the conversation, Leon couldn’t be bothered to remember. He could be bothered to smile though, and he let it show as Zatka found himself comfortable enough to be himself. Leon was relieved because that meant he could be more himself. Right? Well, there it was, horny jokes. “ Oh please. With my circle, Zatka, you’d fit right in with those horny jokes.” He couldn’t help how he chuckled and smiled while taking sips of his coffee. Once the pie was handed to them, Leon found himself comfortably taking a seat at the nearest place with two chairs. Why the rush? Because he was enjoying the conversation and walking tended to take away from conversation most of the time. “ Mine are antlers, and I’m a little bit of a poster boy,” ‘ Kalosian pretty-boy’ as Cooper always put it. “ But my boss- he is this local from Johto and he wears these sort of Miltank horns. They’re just... I mean, on a big, brute of a man like him it’s strangely cute. To me, anyway. But I’ve got an open mind. To others? It’s got more of a what-the-fuck factor to it.” He let out a small laugh as he fidgeted with his fork. words. 250 Zatka Matrick

★ Shut up and dance with me. Zatka smiled glad to know he'd fit in with his friends. Although in all fairness friends and acquaintances were two different things. Though it seemed before long acquaintances wouldn't really apply. This was a rather fun date after all.
Zatka took ahold of the pie following Leon over to a small cozy table for two. The pair sitting down to continue their talk even as the smell of mouth-watering pie wafted up. Yep, he was a sucker for food period.
"Wearing horns is weird but I gotta say I bet you are cute in them," Zatka said smiling. "As for your boss I'd have to see him but I'm sure he would be adorable as well." Zatka was imagining something along the lines of a football player wearing milktank horns and even a little tail....okay it just went moo. His imaginings keeping that smile on his face even as he made a move to dig into the pie.
"Most people who see don't see me as a mortician. Pretty face, bright demeanor and then you work in a dark hole in the ground cutting up bodies," Zatka chuckled a bit. "Makes me sound like a serial killer that way." He pondered it a moment before smiling again. "I thought I'd get to do some CSI stuff like on TV but actually a lot more boring than one thinks sadly to say."

Leon had definitely dug into the pie with his fork and taken a bite the moment they were comfortably seated and he continued doing so, not minding that he was sharing the dessert with this other individual. Why? Because he honestly didn't mind said individual's company. Though, his motion for taking another bite faltered when he heard that the other was a mortician. Not because it was gross, but because of how it had been brought across. The idea of 'working in the dark cutting up dead bodies' definitely screamed serial killer. But it was the smile and the laughter that had Leon so off set. Such morbid talk while eating sweets and laughing. Well, Zatka was definitely his kind of people, Leon could say that much. " Honestly, I wouldn't have ever pegged you for a mortician. Not just because you don't look the part, but just because... I don't know, my view of you is influenced by my mothers who said you would become champion with the right motivation." He shrugged his shoulders before finally taking another bite. " But talking with you now... honestly, I think I'd peg you as a Pokemon groomer." And cue him laughing at his own idiocy. He didn't even mind if Zatka got offended at the judgment, as Leon had sworn long ago he wouldn't get upset if people got offended about his own opinion, that was their own stupidity showing. Opinons were just that. Not fact, just somebody's view point. Others weren't justified in their anger toward his opinions so he didn't bother holding them back.

★ Shut up and dance with me. A champion huh, honestly Zatka had never thought about becoming the champion. He just liked being around pokemon, to be honest. Sure they bullied him from time to time but they were also very cuddly. Especially Flash who still liked jumping in bed with him for the nights.
"Might as well be with that seel of mine. A single spec of dirt and all she wants is a bath and to be brushed," Zatka said chuckling fork to mouth as he held in his bite of pie. He probably has to go back to school to be a groomer though. Seriously there were classes for everything. There was no offense to be had.
"Let's see...I can imagine you as a model," Zatka said giving a slight wink. "Got the looks for it that's for sure maybe there's some sass hiding in there too." Or maybe a professional trainer; he'd definitely hire him for that. No shirt and sweating yep his mind just went down the wrong hole.
"Or maybe an announcer. You got a nice demeanor and voice," Zatka said taking another bite of the pie.
"Enough about jobs though. Got any hobbies you like doing when away from work," Zatka asked directing the conversation to something a bit more personal. Not by much though he probably wouldn't be asking about past boyfriends till like their third or so date. There was an order to these things after all.

Leon had never stopped thinking about what he could be. Simply because he hadn't ever settled into whatever he was doing. For a while, as a teenager, he'd become a Jack-of-all-trades. He'd been a trainer who pretty much worked any sort of job just to get by. Clerk. Bag boy. Full-time trainer, the month and a half of hell. Clerk again. Receptionist. Waiter. But professions? No, no, he'd never thought of that before. Leon hadn't ever stayed anywhere long enough to say he could make it a profession. Barista was still more of a job, but a model? (He didn't miss that wink either) Announcer? Leon couldn't help how he smiled in thought. " Oh, uh." His brows furrowed as he thought that over. " Shit, I don't know." The response was so mumbled it might as well have been a simple exhale. He spoke up, sitting up with his shoulders straightened and setting the fork down. He was done with the pie. It was delicious, but he had coffee to drink. " I'm one of those people that, work is my hobby. I enjoy Pokemon just as much as I enjoy not-stupid people." Because there was a difference. " That's cliche, and dumb, but I honestly just enjoy the breeding and care portion of my work. Not the cleaning up after the farm animals and overall 'farm' part of work. But making bonds with people and Pokemon, I guess that's my number one hobby??" That's what he did in his spare time, anyway. Aside from gossiping...
