 The ocean breeze is a refreshing change from Summer's warm billows, the tang of salt lingering in it's wake. Emma walks across the coast, shivering when a cold wave laps at her ankles. Kehlani runs ahead of her, exploring the sand. They're slowly making their way through the route...but there's no harm in taking it slow, right? "Don't go too deep into the water, Kehlani!" She warns. Her pokemon is small, and she does not know how to swim. It's better to be safe than sorry; there's a lot of people out here, but among the crowd, a tiny Pichu would be easy to miss. And Kehlani, as well behaved as she usually is, she can be mischievous at times. Emma had only looked away for a minute--when she looked back, her pokemon was gone! She looks around wildly, eyes desperately searching before she sees the culprit, splashing sand and water on someone else's pokemon. "Kehlani! That's rude, stop--" She starts, running to catch up to her pokemon. She smiles sheepishly while she apologizes. Hopefully the stranger isn't too angry at her... "I'm soo sorry...She's not usually like this." |

 route forty is a beach. it's a literal beach. why did they call it a route when all that's present is sand and water? it makes no sense. might as well call it beach forty. theo's left to ponder on that thought as his eyes looked out at the sunny horizons, only squinting once due to the sheer brightness of the sun. he's sat on the sand, legs extended out as his feet digs into the sand. his hair holds up surprisingly well in the heat. he credits it to good genes and hairspray. lots of it. he's allowed slasher to roam freely, though he has to keep a constant eye on him. the totodile's young, brash, and violent. there's no telling what he'll get up to without constant supervision. theo lets his gaze stray away for a moment to retrieve a cigarette. he lights it, takes a drag, and looks back to see a pichu splashing water and sand at his totodile. all fun and games, right? wrong. slasher takes it the wrong way and snarls, ready to engage in battle. "slasher, stop it!" scrambling onto his feet, it takes him a few second before he swoops slasher off his feet. he holds him by his armpits (if totodiles have armpits to begin with). "you never listen, do you? you stubborn little shi—" his voice trails off when he notices the little girl next to them. "little sunshine! hey, how are you doing?" he switches his hold and brings slasher to his chest, hugging him like a child would their teddy bear. "no, no, it's fine. your pichu was just looking to play." his eyes glare down at the totodile in his arms. he shakes his head. "what's your name?"emma skye |

Upon closer inspection, Emma can see that it's a small blue gator, with red spikes running down it's back. The pokemon isn't very happy with Kehlani's antics. It snarls, showing white, sharp teeth that looked like it would hurt to be bit with. She rushes to grab Kehlani, wrapping her hands around her side and hugging her Pichu close to her chest. And fortunately, it's trainer seems to do the same, lifting the pokemon by its armpits. He scolds his pokemon (which she felt kind of bad about, since she caused it), barely catching himself in time before noticing Emma. "Yeah sorry again! Kehlani can be a bit mischievous sometimes. That was pretty rude of her though, right?" She says. Emma narrows her eyes, and Kehlani has at least the guile to look sheepish. She sighs. At least the trainer is pretty nice. He has super bushy hair that sticks out at weird angles, and she's surprised that it hasn't flattened with the heat. "My name's Emma and I'm a trainer. What's your name?"theo walker |

theo's great with kids. he just talks down to them, which is not much different to how he normally talks to other people. he eyes the pichu in her arms. "maybe a bit. but kehlani is still young, isn't she? you can't blame her for acting like a child." ironic to say, given how he feels about his totodile. slasher wiggles around, trying his best to slip out from theo's arms but fails miserably. his arms are too short to do much, and his legs don't provide him much help while they're hanging in the air. he's left with the only option to slump and admit defeat. but he'll be back. he'll exact his revenge. "it's nice to meet you, emma. i'm walker. i'm kinda a trainer, too." he drags out the one word because he knows it's going to draw her in. "say, emma—" before much else can be said, a magikarp splashes out of the water and hits theo in his stomach. the impact releases slasher, who relishes in his freedom and celebrates by SLASHing at the magikarp. as theo stumbles and narrowly avoids tumbling into the water, he regains his footing and glares at the magikarp. "it's all yours, slasher!" his words come out more aggressive than intended, but he can't help himself, not after getting TACKLEd by a magikarp. slasher doesn't have to do much to win when his opponent just flops on the sand. he CRUNCHes down on the fish and flings it away into the ocean. he stands victorious, and taunts it by flexing his arms. |
