It didn’t take too long for the Quilava to suddenly turn his head and suddenly dash off towards a certain direction—he’d caught scent of something and was determined to sniff it out.
“Wait for me!” Lars called out, quickly picking up the pace and following the Fire-type deeper into the bush. It didn’t take too long for the Fire-type to suddenly launch a
Flamethrower attack at the darting shadow, hoping to stop it in its tracks.
The shadow the let out a screech of annoyance before coming to a halt and regarding the Fire-type with something close to disdain; and it was at this point Lars realized what his companion had sniffed out—it was the very Pokémon he was looking for! Although, for some reason he noticed something a bit off about it—and for that he whipped out his Pokédex and read the data that had displayed on its screen.
Even if it’s female, I’ll take it. I don’t know if I’ll be able to find another one of them again… he thought to himself as the Scyther then
Leered in the Quilava’s direction. While the Fire-type cringed at the hideous-looking face that had been flashed his way, Lars then sprang into action.
“Alright, let’s go get this one! Be careful and mind the area, Ara!” he began, letting the Fire-type take the lead and kicking up a
Smokescreen in the Bug-type’s face. As the Scyther yowled and tried to clear the dirt from its eyes, it began to swing its scythe-arms wildly around in an attempt to blindly hit the Fire-type.
“Ara, back down! Look for another opening and strike when you see it!” he continued, watching as the Scyther continued to flail around, before launching a
Vacuum Wave attack in a random direction. While the attack had gone off and hit a nearby tree, the Quilava waited until it spotted an opening before releasing a second stream of flames. The
Flamethrower attack circled around the Scyther as it let out another annoyed shriek of pain before charging forward in a
Quick Attack—an attempt to escape the flames that were slowing it down since earlier.
“Evade it or block that!” he went on, watching as the Fire-type then bounced backwards, before letting loose with several star-shaped projectiles that hit the Scyther head-on. As it raised its scythe-arms in an attempt to block off some of the damage, the attack still struck true—before another attempt at
Vacuum Wave was tossed in its direction. The Quilava then cut off to the right and managed to evade the attack the Scyther had thrown at it, before releasing another burst of flames at the incoming Bug-type.
The Scyther let out another shriek of pain, before another stream of flames emerged from the Quilava’s mouth halted the Bug-type right in its tracks before it collapsed to the ground. Just as Lars was about to toss a blank Pokéball at it, the Bug-type then got up before charging again with another
Quick Attack at the unguarded Quilava, causing the Fire-type to let out a yelp of surprise at the last-ditch effort the Scyther was tossing at it. This time, the Quilava then rammed its entire body at it, using
Tackle to knock the Bug-type over and back to the grass where it collapsed and lay still—exhausted and passed out.
“Well then, there we go,” Lars muttered a few moments later, tossing the empty Pokéball he’d been holding on to and watching as the Scyther was sucked up in the flash of red light before the containment unit fell to the grass.
