Whoops.Okay, maybe that wasn’t such a good way to make a first impression.
Lars then saw a blob of yellow suddenly collide with his Riolu, who was scenting the air trying to pick out something unfamiliar—instead an Elekid rammed itself right into the Fighting-type, which made the Riolu skid back a few steps before barking something in the Electric-type’s direction along the lines of,
“Hey, watch where you’re going!” before turning back to face his companion.
“Well…this is awkward,” he began, rubbing the back of his neck as he then recognized the owner of the familiar voice.
“I did offer to have your stuff dry-cleaned, though…” he continued a few moments later.
“Or have you forgotten?”Before he could talk more, a blur of movement caught the Riolu’s attention, before Lars blinked and heard the Riolu bark in his direction, pointing at said blur as it came to a stop—it was a Snorunt!
Okay, now definitely that’s on my to-get list… he thought with a grin on his face.
“What’re you waiting for? Go!” he said in the Riolu’s direction, before the Fighting-type then ignited his feet and charged forward in a
Blaze Kick attack, never mind that the Snorunt had thrown a
Powder Snow in an attempt to slow the Fighting-type down.
“You’re tougher than this!” he called out to the Riolu, who for a few moments came to a stop as the cold snow whipped around him. Yelping, the Fighting-type then focused on kicking the snow out of the way, melting it as he continued his charge forward before eventually using a
Quick Attack to dash forward and reach the Snorunt; and then chaining right into a
Force Palm technique—something Lars hadn’t seen before. As the Snorunt let out a yelp of surprise the moment the Fighting-type technique connected, it then retaliated with a point-blank
Icy Wind, forcing the Riolu back a few paces due to the cold assault.
Not to be deterred, the Riolu then stood his ground, before the Snorunt used
Leer in an attempt to scare the Fighting-type off. While it did work (for all of five seconds), the Riolu was determined, and charged forward again, starting with another
Force Palm before chaining it into an up-close and personal
Blaze Kick attack, catching the Snorunt by surprise not just once, but twice!
“You’re doing great! Don’t let it catch you in the face though. That did hurt a little,” Lars called out, digging into his pockets and preparing a blank Pokéball to toss at the Snorunt once his Riolu was done beating the living daylights out of the thing. Annoyed, said Ice-type then used
Double Team in an effort to confuse the Riolu, who’d set his legs ablaze and was coming in for another
Blaze Kick attack—which ended up hitting thin air. Growling, the Fighting-type then rounded again towards the Snorunt and tried to
Blaze Kick it again—only to end up hitting air a second time.
Chuckling to itself, the Snorunt then realized it had an advantage now, before sending another
Icy Wind attack in the Riolu’s direction, catching it by surprise. As the Fighting-type yelped at the sudden blast of cold air, he knew he’d had enough. Wanting to completely and literally impress his companion, the Fighting-type then rushed forward—never mind if the attack was making him shiver—and then connected with a point-blank
Force Palm to the face.
As the Ice-type let out a painful squeal (who knew if its nose was broken) the Riolu then continued its assault, alternating between
Force Palm and
Blaze Kick, even if the Snorunt was retaliating with
Powder Snow as well as
Icy Wind. Eventually, though, the Riolu won out and the Snorunt collapsed face-first onto the chilly ground, before Lars tossed the Pokéball and watched as the Snorunt was sucked into the ball, before it landed on the ground, twitching…
