[attr="class","smdbody"] ash huffed quietly, wiping her forehead free of sweat with the swipe of her hand. it was still so hot, which left her in a bit of an irritable state. but she suffered through it in silence due to it being mostly her fault for picking this day out of the week. 'should've checked the weather like i did last time.' at least there was the occasional bit of shade to be had on the route, which offered some form of relief. 'i'm thankful kyle isn't dead yet.' the woman glanced in the direction of her brother, a hint of an amused glimmer present within her brown-eyed gaze. 'i wonder if his pokemon would be up for grabs if he was, though.' she tittered, thoroughly amused by her own silly thoughts. " you making it?" she questioned. the woman had somehow convinced her brother to tag along with her on such a venture, having informed him of the scrawny houndour that she had come across. it was likely the male wasn't too fond of her for making him trek all the way up here on foot, though. she wasn't sure how fit he was, especially since he dedicated a majority of his personal time toward video games and television. her body was familiar with this level of strain, so she managed well enough despite the combination of heat and physical exertion. " i found the houndour around here," she informed. she indicated the location with the wave of her hand as they passed it. " i don't think i killed it, so it either dragged itself off somewhere or another pokemon finished the job." either way it was long gone. [googlefont=Roboto Condensed] "It's too early for this, you know," Kyle complained as he begrudgingly trudged along the mountainside. He had underestimated how bullheaded his sister got, even in the face of harsh conditions such as the one they were experiencing now. The sun was beating down on his skin and he felt like his legs would give up on their own had he not visited this place yet before. He had gotten up extra early today as well as it wasn't always that his sister had asked favors from him, though it already seems like it had been a bad decision not to argue with the time at all. "Tell me about the Houndour later, edge lord." He arrived, panting and on his knees. He swore he had more stamina than this before, though the fact that his sister seemed unfazed with all of these was not beyond his expectations. "I just want this day to be over. I'll even treat you ice cream if we finish early." In all honesty, he wasn't even expecting to get a full team this early to the game. Any addition to his team was welcome, though he won't get disappointed not to fill out the last remaining spot on his party. Besides, it wasn't like he was out there to get competitive like Ash. "Why here anyways? Fire-types?" Kyle started his insistent questioning, which usually happens a lot to force himself not to whine too much from the situation. "Could you not just catch that Houndour if you wanted a Fire-type?" She was indeed particular with a lot of things after all, though that wouldn't stop Kyle to question her logic. He was on a different side of that spectrum, after all, with him not getting too picky with things and simply accepting anything in his way as long as it fits the bill he wants. MADE BY NOVA |

[attr="class","smdbody"] " the houndour wasn't good enough." she thought back to its scrawny form and its inability to stand up against her meditite. the woman would have likely surrendered it to kyle after wasting a pokeball on it - but she supposed the male wouldn't have minded taking it. " i want something that'll really pack a punch," she continued. the woman didn't know what that 'something' was, but she hoped she would locate it either today or soon after. her search had been fruitless thus far, resulting in a strengthened team and very little else. " and i want it to challenge my team and i before it's inevitably introduced to the ground," she said. " none of this 'one-sided battle'-type shit." as she talked to her weary sibling, two distant figures popped into view. it was a ponyta and a magby, the pair appearing to be involved in some type of quarrel. there was a hungry gleam present in the bipedal fire-type's eye as it moved to strike at the equine's creamy flanks. " ooo-hoo." ash turned to observe as she released a please chuckle, interest gleaming in her eye. " see? i'd want something like that," she said, thrusting a finger in the magby's general direction. " let's see if it can hold up in battle, yeah? i'll take the little fire spitter and you take the horse." the woman reached for a capsule secured around her waist before releasing the stout creature stored within. it was her phanpy, the pokemon having grown a bit larger as of late as he began the process of maturing. " bishop, aim for the short one," ash instructed. " knock it away from the ponyta with a rollout." the ground-type furled into a tight ball and proceeded to spin, gradually building up speed in an astonishingly short amount of time as he firmly remained in place. and once he was satisfied and had kicked up a plethora of dry earth, he launched himself forward. the force behind the strike as it landed was considerable and perhaps too much for what was likely to be a young magby. the moment bishop's body came into contact with the youngling, it was sent flying. " wait, bishop! not that hard!" of course, the call came far too late, the magby having been knocked completely off the route's edge. there was a terrible drop awaiting it, and its cry grew alarmingly faint and then merrily silent as it fell out of view. " whoops." bishop unfurled, a bemused look upon his face. " well, guess it wasn't meant to be." ash shrugged. [googlefont=Roboto Condensed] "Understandable."He nodded sagely as he listened to her reasons behind choosing the members of her party. Kyle wasn't too surprised to learn how she managed to integrate her spartan ways to team building. It wasn't exactly illogical either, and so he cannot berate her about it. Somehow, he still wondered if they were indeed related, given that all a Pokemon needs to fit his criteria is that they should have an aesthetic appearance. Even without that, anything that he catches on a whim gets to stay with him. Kyle wouldn't even notice the wild Pokemon come into play from his fatigue if his sister had not pointed it in front of him. Begrudgingly, he turned to stare at the Pokemon of her liking. He started to internally question himself if he does indeed know how his sister's mind works. "Why? How's it different from the horse? Arms to literally punch with?" He had thought that she was looking for a Pokemon's character, though her choosing the Magby based on its appearance eventually ruled it out. He'd watch the Phanpy he previously owned defeat the Magby, though he supposed that he can't really leave the other part of the pair unattended. A quick movement of his hand released his Rhyhorn from a Pokeball from his belt, pitting the heavyweight against the equine. "Slow it down with Bulldoze." It was heading towards them after all, and with Kyle unprepared for an impromptu battle, he needed time to think for a solution. Then again, force was probably the easiest one to use to deal with wild Pokemon. His Rhyhorn stomped its feet in front of him, releasing a wave from the ground towards the Ponyta, shaking up the ground beneath it and impeding its movements. "Stone Edge." As if controlling the earth itself, his Rhyhorn forced rocks to jut out of the ground, its edges aimed towards the Ponyta. A shrill cry sounded before it fell unconscious, dropping on the floor as soon as the attack connected. Turning back to Ash just in time, he saw the poor figure drop into the abyss. "You're gonna get the bad ending if you keep racking up negative karma like that, you know." His expression was judging, albeit worried, as he took a moment to stare at her. The 'worried' part might have been for a different reason though. His sister had not been fond of games as much as he is, making him instantly regret using a common gaming reference to tease. 'it's probably a bloody smear by now, anyway.' " phan?" her pokemon moved closer and peered up at the woman. there was a curious expression upon his face, and she would eye him in turn. " what's wrong, boy?" bishop's ears once - twice - thrice. " phan-py." a light enveloped him, engulfing the entirety of his smallish form as his body gradually increased in size. once it dispersed, it revealed a much larger creature that sported a pair of pointed tusks. " oh." ash crouched before the hefty pokemon, staring at him with round eyes. " oh, wow. look at these things," she remarked, indicating the horns. she made the mistake of prodding at the tip of one, only for it to break the skin of her finger. " shit! they're friggin' sharp!" the woman popped the bleeding digit into her mouth, though she still wore an intrigued look upon her face. her pokemon released an apologetic murmuring, retreating several steps from his mistress and turning his head away. " didn't know he'd evolve so soon," she remarked, her words muffled by the finger. once she pulled it out and wiggled it experimentally, ash grinned at her brother. " kinda looks like he can take on anything now." thankfully a pair of pokemon had made their appearance, offering ash a choice of target. the familiar sight of a houndour successfully captured the entirety of her focus, and she would thrust a finger toward it and shout. " go! the houndour!" the pokemon obeyed, but instead of charging forward, he would stomp upon the ground. the houndour would blink - caught unawares - before it found itself struck with a sizable chunk of rock that suddenly burst from the earth. It was already expected that his sister would eventually beat him to getting a stronger party of Pokemon, though he had not anticipated one of hers evolving too soon, especially the one he caught for her. On the other hand, the Poochyena she traded for the Phanpy has still yet to make a considerable change in levels. It was nothing to be surprised about, he supposed, given that he didn't share her enthusiasm and commitment with being strong. He pulled out his handkerchief as she pulled her finger to his face, covering the wet finger with it. "Ew, gross. Put that away from me." A gentle nudge pushed it away from him, after which he started rummaging through his possessions. "Need a band-aid for that?" He started searching his pockets, knowing he always brought one in case he got scratched or something in the wild, before turning to his Pokemon for a moment to relay his instructions. "Rip." It wouldn't take an expert to see how one-sided it was. "I-it could've been the Houndour that could 'pack a punch', you know." He had wanted to save it from the pain of facing off with Ash, though it seems he was too late. Besides, his reasoning wasn't even sound. Hearing a yelp, he turned just in time for his Rhyhorn to unleash another Stone Edge from the ground, hitting the Growlithe from below and knocking it a few distance away. He knew he felt a shake from the ground opposite his sister's Donphan, which most probably was his Rhyhorn's initial attack for the wild Pokemon. "Wait, no!" He did not particularly wish for a Growlithe, though he'd have taken it home should he had the chance. His Rhyhorn turned to him to tilt its head, confused about its trainer's expression. Can't really fault him though, since he had ordered him to deal with it without even taking a glance at the Growlithe beforehand. "D-Don't mind it, I guess," he groaned. Defeated Growlithe! ash shielded her eyes with her hand, having slowed to a halt after a solid half hour had come to pass. she had dragged her brother all the way up here with the intention of searching for a suitable companion - but she feared that their efforts thus far were all for naught.
"there's honestly nothing out here," she continued.
she released a mournful little sigh before cracking her neck, that portion of her body having grown uncomfortable stiff. the woman had grown increasingly sore for the duration of their little trip, and her body was now covered in a thin layering of sweat. her deodorant was, thankfully, doing its work, but its strong fragrance was beginning to seep off her in potent waves.
"hm."
ash raised her arm to give herself an investigative sniff, her eyebrows raised high.
"that deodorant i took from your room is doing wonders," she remarked.
her donphan remained outside of his capsule as they walked, growing more and more comfortable within the confines of his new body with each step that he took. ash had encouraged him to move about as much as he liked, but warned him to remain within her line of sight.
' - and away from that edge. i don't want to see if he can survive that kinda fall.'
"hey, isn't that a 'tortilla' or something?"
ash pointed out a torkoal that was in the midst of slowly passing them by. a numel was at its heels, the pair appearing to be traveling together.
"looks kinda tough. imma fight it."
instead of unleashing her donphan, she would bring out her meditite. the fighting-type remained stationary once summoned, patiently awaiting her mistress's commands as she faced the sluggish duo of wild pokemon.
"go for the turtle, rook! use confusion!"
the shelled fire-type would experience a surge of foreign energy which left it in a dizzied state. its head waved to and fro, the lids of its closed eyes twitching rapidly as it attempted to make sense of what had just occurred.
"follow it up with a force palm!"
thankfully, ash had managed to succeed without seriously harming the wild creature, with it growing still after the physical attack came into contact with its tough shell. it slipped into its shell, a dazed look upon its face as its head and limbs were securely tucked in.
"good job, rook. return."
once the pokemon was secured, she looked to her brother. her donphan sidled up next to them, blinking up at the siblings.
"let's get outta here. should only be an hour or two of walking before we make it back into town."

[googlefont=Roboto Condensed] Kyle was still hung up on the Growlithe he failed to capture, though his expression has yet to change from the one he wore when he got here: tired, miserable and annoyed at the circumstances he was in. "Thank you!" The words were exclaimed as she announced that they were about to postpone the hunt for another member of her party, finally giving him a chance to most likely spend the rest of the day resting. "Wait, you-" He had always assumed that he just misplaced things whenever they go missing from his room before, though at least he gets to have a clarification this time. "Keep it, I guess." He wasn't going to take away his sister's potentially only deodorant from her. He wouldn't want to imagine how she'd smell without it. Ashley was quick to choose the tortilla as her opponent, leaving Kyle with the Ground-type that both of his only competent Pokemon in battles were at a disadvantage with. He grumbled as a silent protest, but nonetheless left his displease unmentioned. "Yeah, have fun with the tortilla." Instead of being to nosy with his sister's little brawl with the Torkoal, he supposed that he should be more observant with how his Rhyhorn would deal with the Numel. "Let's go for a Drill Run this time."His Rhyhorn had just learned the move, yet it seemed to already show proficiency in using it. As his Rhyhorn ran towards the Numel, a shake of the ground came from the Fire-type. It managed to break the momentum of his Pokemon, stopping on its place as he endured the Magnitude, before ramming its body at it with its horn as the point of contact. It pushed the Numel back, managing to flip it into a roll once, before succumbing to its injuries. Returning his Rhyhorn back to its ball after finally taking significant damage, he turned to his sister with a dead serious look in his eyes. "We're visiting this place again. Just set the time and send me a message." If Ashley wanted a Magby, Kyle was interested in owning a Growlithe as well. It was like, a win-win situation for both of them, and it wasn't like it Kyle would be motivated to visit this place on his own. Defeated Numel! MADE BY NOVA |
