There was something wonderfully ironic about this 'Lake of Rage'. The name had an intimidating ring to it, when that would make you think that there was something dreadfully dangerous lurking in it's depths. But instead his visit revealed that it was actually a rather peaceful location. There was hardly a soul in sight, leaving Frederick and his team free to do as they wished without a care in the world. And with weather like this he was half tempted to strip down and take a dip in the refreshing body of water. But something told him that doing so could be risky, since even the most peaceful waters tended to have some manner of dangerous water types lurking beneath.

As usual Tiny and Race were out of their balls, scouting the area for potential threats as they traveled along the shore with the nidorino at his trainer's side while the yanma flew circles high above them.. After spending quite some time wandering along the shore and taking in the serene sights something would suddenly catch the insect's eye. The soft humming of his rapidly beating wings suddenly grew more intense as he dove down to take a closer look, the sound prompting both Frederick and Tiny to chase after him without a word. This was a pretty common occurrence for them, after all.

Race would swiftly descend about a brunette young lady, hovering a few feet above her as he watched with a cheerful expression. The yanma's head tilted to one side as he examined her, remaining silent save for the soft humming of his rapidly beating wings. After a bit of likely uncomfortable staring Frederick would make his way up the hill, an amused smile appearing on his face the moment he realized what his teammate had found. "My apologies miss, is he bothering you? He tends to get excited around other people." He looked over to the red insect as he continued his approach, had shaking slowly. "But we can at least be grateful that he didn't start latching on to you. It seems I've managed to break that habit."

                          

The yellow eye'd ranger's smile grew slightly as the young woman seemed to recognize him, which for some reason prompted her to utter the word 'handsome'. The interesting part was that she didn't seem the slightest bit embarrass or flustered at the slip, simply taking things as they were and even seeming entertained by it. This was interesting, since he was so used to girls around her age to be much more unflappable with such things. Either this one had a special confidence in herself or simply didn't care what the he thought of her. Either way the surprise was a pleasant one.

"Union Cave. I was one of those who took part in the expedition to find that girl's grandfather." He turned to look down at Tiny, his gaze following hers. Lips curled into a proud smile as the pokemon sat patiently at his side, ears stiff and alert as he remained alert for potential threats. The little guy had come a very long way from when they first started training, so hearing compliments like this was always reassuring. "Yes I am. A ranger, to be precise. I don't have too much interest in getting mixed up in the league challenge or anything like that."

Taking in a deep breath of fresh air Frederick would slide his thumbs behind his suspenders, looking out around to take in the view from the hilltop. "This is quite the spot you've found yourself here. Taking a break from training or are you simply here for pleasure's sake?"

                          

There she was going with that whole 'handsome' thing. Yet he didn't quite get the feeling that she was flirting with him. As far as it could tell she sounded more like she was stating a fact, though it may have just been her way of filling the space where his name would go. Whatever the case it was amusing. Though he would have to correct her just to prevent any future confusion.

"Not exactly. As much as I love the scenery here my team and I are primarily looking for a bit of training. We were passing through and thought the lake would be a good place to find some wild pokemon to practice against." He looked between his two pokemon, who were each behaving in nearly opposite manners. One was sitting alert, ready and waiting to strike out at any potential attackers. While Race was happily buzzing around the new friend, pleased to have found someone his trainer seemed to get along with.

Frederick's brows rose as she instructed him to turn around, casually turning his head to look over his shoulder at the Luxray. "Oh. I assume this sneaky fellow is yours?" Tiny's suddenly went wide as he turned to face the prowling feline, his pins bristling as he let out a low growl. He stared at the stealthy predator with murder in his eyes, disgusted at the idea that a creature managed to sneak past his keen ears. The trainer simply laughed at this, turning his attention back to Ash. "Don't mind Tiny. If he was going to attack he would have done it already. And he won't unless I tell him to." He looked to the pink pokemon as he stressed that point, taking a few steps forward at the same time. In response to this the nidorino let out an irritated snort, moving to fill in the space between Fred and the luxray. His eyes were locked on the other pokemon the entire time, just daring it to try to lay a hand on the trainer.

Attention turned to the hovering insect as Ashley spoke of him, the creature seeming to have already regained it's joy after being forced to hurt that defenseless creature. He had resumed hovering and staring at the luxray, head tilting as he tried to get a look at the creature from different angles. Frederick wasn't sure why the yanma had become so interested in Knight, but it seemed harmless enough so he wouldn't complain. "I'm not sure why. They're just as capable in battle as any other pokemon, and their ability to see in 360 degrees is very useful even outside of battle."

His attention turned back to Ashley, not seeming too worried about Race getting involved with the stronger pokemon. If he did something stupid that got him zapped it would just be another important lesson anyway. Besides he was much more interested in discussion pokemon, as it seemed like it was oddly rare to get a chance to do so. It seemed like people were always more interested in the man himself or his line of work than his team. So far this interaction was proving to be oddly refreshing. "Why thank you." His features remained relaxed, though a bit of excitement managed to show through as they continued to discuss his pokemon. "Yanmega, you mean? Yes, they become very large. One of the largest among all bug types, in fact.. And the best part is that he will in fact maintain his speed, which should prove to be useful."

A bit of eagerness started to build up in him as he considered the possibility of riding around on such a massive pokemon. It was definitely going to make travelling the region much more convenient and efficient. The sudden splash pulled the ranger away from his thoughts, his attention immediately shifting to the water's surface. His brows rose as he watched the luxray dispatch of the creature without direction in an impressive display of force. "Your luxray has very strong instincts. He should make for a good addition to your team."

As the mantyke squirmed in her captor's jaw another pokemon would reveal itself, it's head poking up from the water's surface that was glaring intently at their attack. It seemed he didn't take kindly to his friend getting snatched up like that. Opening his mouth the creature prepared a mud bomb aimed directly toward the electric type, hoping to interrupt the attack and free the wounded mantyke. Upon seeing this Race bolted toward the action, ready to defend his new friend while he finished off his prey. "Air slash."

Race darted into position, placing himself between Knight and his attacker just as the mud bomb was being unleashed. The yanma quickly shifted his position to direct the flapping of his wings toward the shellos, focusing his energy to create numerous blades of wind as he unleashed an air slash onto his opponent. The blades of wind easily cut through the mud bomb, breaking it up and slowing it down until it was nothing but harmless dirt that would land ineffectively on the flying bug. "Very good. Finish it off with a quick attack."

The yanma suddenly darted forward, the already quick pokemon accelerating in a burst of movement as he swiftly move toward the shellos. He lowered his head as he made contact, ramming into the squishy creature with all of his force. The attack landed solidly, the impact causing the shellos to dip down below the water's surface. The yanma watched carefully, preparing to strike again should it surface. But after a few moments it was clear that his opponent was defeated. With a cheerful chirp Race would hurry back to the water's edge to check on Knight, who was only just starting to dry off.

Meanwhile Frederick would wait until after the feline had shaken off the excess water to approach, his shoulders shaking as he silently chuckled at the scene. "At this rate I question how many more pokemon will be surfacing considering how many we've tossed back by now." As the ranger spoke Race would start fluttering next to the luxray, the rapid beating of his wings stirring up a bit of a wind near the two creatures. It seemed as if Race was trying to use the wind from his wings to help his new friend dry off.
