[attr="class","smdbody"]ash felt uncomfortably full after having stuffed a nicely-sized sandwich down her gullet. it was warm out, and she was situated at the route's side, dark green grass serving as her makeshift cushion as she rifled through her pack in search of a bottle of water. once found, she would unscrew the cap and down one-third of its contents with gusto.
"ah..."
it was disgustingly lukewarm, but she made do, tolerating the life-giving liquid despite its temperature. she would then hand the bottle off to her ever-present medicham, whom accepted it with a thankful nod and a slight smile. rook, more often than naught, remained outside the confines of her capsule so to accompany the spirited brunette. as ash's very first pokemon, the powerful fighter felt it appropriate to accompany her mistress as much as possible.
"it's hot," ash warned.
rook merely shrugged and finished off the bottle without a fuss nor even a grimace.
"give it so i can fill it back up later."
after reclaiming the bottle and returning it to her pack, ash settled upon her back with a tired sigh, her eyes fluttering shut and her expression one of serenity. the idea of a nap tempted her, and she felt safe dozing off with her medicham watching over her. ash began to slip deeper and deeper into an unconsciousness state of being as both her mind and body began to relax.
"medi..."
rook crossed her legs, and breathed deeply before she began to hover above the grass as she began to meditate.

Zeref would yell out to the world with his hands thrown in the air. The team decided to return home after a long ass adventure while avoiding his sister as much as possible. On their way back home Zeref remembered there was a specific route he wanted to try but he couldn’t figure out what that route was. Either way whatever feeling he has inside it he was grateful returning to a route he was very familiar with.

“It feels like ages probably because I’ve dealt with a lot of shit with that tower stuff. I know I’m not physically in Enju City but it sure does feel like home.” Zeref turned his gaze over to Parsifal who was resting on his shoulder. “Don’t you smell that familiar scent Parsifal because I sure do?” Parsifal gave a slow nod at his trainer as his response causing Zeref to narrow his eyes. “Your rather quiet today. I wonder if you sense my sister nearby. I’m certain we can handle her scary ass personality.” Zeref shivered at that last thought.

“Honestly the reason why I’m worried about returning home is because of her.” Parsifal shivered too causing Zeref to chuckle. “You feel it too huh? Maybe we should take a break before going home. Let’s check out this route that I’ve been dying to go to. My instincts are telling me to come here after all.” The Ranger shook his head before slapping his cheeks. “I got this I just have to be strong!”

[attr="class","smdbody"]the girl was allowed several hours of uninterrupted rest, her dreams surprisingly pleasant. she was even given the opportunity to awaken on her own, and would do so with a yawn and a stretch.
"'ppreciate it, rook," she murmured, blinking blearily in the pokemon's direction. "i think i really needed that."
as the fighting-type smiled in response to the words of thanks, ash would rub at her brow and wipe away a line of drool. she reached into her bag next to produce a baby wipe so she could do a better job of cleaning her face. once the wet cloth was temporarily disposed of - which meant it was haphazardly stuffed within the numerous pockets of her bag - she stood with a grunt and immediately took in her immediate surroundings.
'i haven't been asleep for too long,' she thought. 'there's plenty of daylight left to get some training done. that and i gotta move on to the next city.'
ash glanced at the time displayed upon her phone, having fished it from her pockets before stuffing it back into them.
'now i just gotta figure out who to focus on today.'
the decision was a blessedly simple one, for three of her 'mons were beginning to fall behind due to a myriad of reasons; the recent contest being one of them.
"i'll bring queen out first - jester can go next - and then probably duchess...?"
she tentatively stepped forward, her legs still recovering from the stiffness of sleep. her medicham would join her, falling into step after her mistress shouldered her backpack's straps and began to progress down the route's path.
"ah?"
the kirlia would make for their first target as it daintily stepped into view, the pokemon appearing to be young and likely weaker than the pokemon currently under her possession.
"they evolve at around... level thirty, don't they?"
ash clicked her tongue, cocked her head to the side, squinted her eyes before deciding to simply make do.
"queen, you're up first."
her mawile exited her capsule after the brunette had grasped at the orb and triggered its temporary release mechanism. the steel-type grinned with an open display of excitement as the kirlia moved to face them, a wary look entering the wild fairy's eye.
"iron head!"
queen was encased in a silvery sheen as she lunged forward, her body harshly impacting the wild pokemon. their disparity in strength - coupled by the exploitation of the dual-type's weakness - became abundantly clear at that moment, for the frail 'mon would crumple with a gasp, its eyes growing dull and falling shut as consciousness almost immediately slipped from its grasp.
"now that's what i call a 'one and done'," ash commented.
the steel-type clapped her paws together, delighted with the outcome.
"maw!"

A puff of pink fluff popped out of its hiding spot and had pointed it’s finger right at the pup who was resting on top of Zeref’s shoulder. The pup popped up his head before jumping right in front of his trainer giving a slow nod of approval. Zeref on the other hand was a little confused about what was going on but from the looks of it, Parsifal was ready to beat the shit out of this fairy and it looks like Zeref gets to sit back and watch the show. “Alright Parsifal this one is all on you. I’ll give you as little support since I know darn well you have the upper hand.” The Ranger bit his lip at this uncertain if he should underestimate this Clefairy. There must be a reason the pink fluff challenging the pup. “Just be careful because fairy types can be deadly just like mom’s Gardevoir and Wigglytuff.” He reminded his pup who rushed forward turning himself into a wheel of flames and headed straight towards the Clefairy using his recently new move FLAMEWHEEL!

The pink fluff was ready for that shit. She jumped out of the way to dodge the attack clapping her hands to summon beams of light onto Parsifal! When the pup landed on his paws he would look up at the light beam shinning down on him causing the pup to smirk underneath his breath. Although the pupper knows he can’t use any other moves besides Flamewheel, this makes it easier for the pup to dance around and use his smooth moves! The pink fluff has made a mistake but Zeref on the other hand bit his lip at this sight hoping Parsifal will be all right. “Are you going to be fine buddy? That Clefairy used ENCORE so that means you can only use FLAMEWHEEL now!”

No problem at all according to Parsifal! The pup lifted up his paw to bring his dance. When the Clefairy sent out a circular beam with hearts and goody stuff known as DISARMING VOICE, Parsifal was able to dodge the attack with his dance moves. The Clefairy stared down at him before lifting up her hand to shoot a white light into the air! A similar beam like ENCORE appeared but it made Clefairy look like she was at the center of attention causing Zeref to narrow his eyes at this strange sight. “What’s going on why did it use SPOTLIGHT on itself?”

Parsifal barked at the Clefairy before continuing his dance, moving his paws in a smooth like motion and sliding back and forth pretending he was playing jazz music in his head. With her hand still in the air and one on her hip, the Clefairy moved the one from the air down and back up before doing a twirl however when she twirled she sent out another DISARMING VOICE right at Parsifal. Parsifal rushed forward, jumping over the Disarming Voice before rolling right into another FLAMEWHEEL! When the Clefairy dodge the attack, Parsifal changed his direction homing straight back to the Clefairy and without the Clefairy noticing WAM!

Clefairy fell off her feet while Parsifal landed on his by doing a spin and flipping his hair bang away from his face. The pink fluff gave off a dark aura while Parsifal moved his shoulders with his eyes narrowed as if the pup was telling it to come at him bro. The two continued to spam both moves DISARMING VOICE and FLAMEWHEEL and man it looked like complete chaos! Meanwhile Zeref was standing there with Malice by his side. Their eyes were widened and there mouths opened as the watch the two of them have a dance off. “What the hell is going on?” The Ranger asked while Malice nodding her head and spoke in agreement causing Zeref to nearly jump out of his skin. “When did you get out? Oh whatever it doesn’t matter really.”

After a long dreadful battle, the two Pokemon stood there in silence panting while staring down at their opponent. That was when the Clefairy made its move, sending out another DISARMING VOICE right at Parsifal however Parsifal was ready for this one! He turned into another FLAMEWHEEL to dodge the attack however the Clefairy jumped out of the way to dodge it but man did Parsifal fool that pink fluff! He quickly dissolved his flames, turned around in a swift like manner before lifting up his mouth to shoot out a ball of flame right at the Clefairy! The Clefairy was hit by EMBER and passed out when Parsifal landed on his paws. The pup turned around to bow his head to give the Clefairy respect for challenging the pup to a dance off. Parsifal made his way back to Zeref with his tail wagging and his tongue hanging out. “You are amazing that’s all I can say.” Zeref said while handing his pup a potion. “How do you manage to do it buddy? What made you want to dance? Well it doesn’t matter you're the best Growlithe ever. What a interesting display.” Malice flew by to congrates Parsifal as well but in all honesty she was confused about the whole thing just like Zeref was. What were those moves they looked different from Zeref’s pose? Maybe she should give it a try later on!

ash blinked at the screen of her electronic device and the information presently displayed there. she had returned queen, satisfied enough with her ability to quickly dispatch the much weaker kirlia.
'and...'
"apparently a shit-ton of fairies live here," ash murmured, resettling her gaze upon rook.
the medicham blinked and sidled up closer to the woman, curiously peering down at the dimly-lit and glassy surface of the brunette's phone.
"queen would fucking wreck 'em all. so i don't think using her while we're out here is the best idea."
'it'd be way too easy, then.'
rook nodded her head in both understanding and agreement to the woman's statement.
"i'll just - uh - use jester instead."
the fox was presently ill-equipped to handle fairies, which meant he would be offered some form of challenge and a decent amount of experience while facing the pokemon whom occupied the general area of route thirty-eight.
"come on out, boy."
a blob of bright light would exit the pokemon's capsule once ash had given the orb a light toss, the mass of energy quickly reforming to shape itself into the zoroark before dispersing and revealing the dark-type underneath.
"...?"
jester raised his face skyward and blinked before moving to greet his mistress by dipping his head respectively in her direction.
"we're going hunting, jes'."
the fox cocked his head to the side, bemused by ash's choice of words. the girl only grinned in response to his confusion, and gestured toward the entirety of the route with a sweep of her arm.
"basically, we're lookin' for a good fight. there's plenty of pokemon around here to take down, yeah? rook and i will be right on your heels."
jester was off the moment he comprehended the order, setting a speedy pace from the get-go as he lurched forward in search of an opponent. ash and rook kept up, and would only bring their run to an abrupt halt once the fox had located a suitable target for himself.
'he's found something.'
ash's searching gaze would quickly settle upon the familiar shape of a blue and white pokemon.
"it's a marill!"
"medi!"
the water-type had the misfortune of crossing paths with the bipedal dark-type, whom presently loomed over it as he flexed his claws in preparation. but it wasn't easily cowed, instead moving to initiate battle by use of an 'aqua tail'. it obviously sensed the malicious aura oozing from jester, and would land the first blow in hopes of deterring the sleek predator. ash wasn't granted an ample amount of time to both react and give an order, but jester managed to raise his arms to soften the single blow and knock the marill away with a rough shove without instruction.
"marill!"
the wild pokemon bounced roughly upon the ground before furling itself into a tight ball and launching itself at the fox.
"let's see how good your aim is, boy. 'dark pulse'!"
jester narrowed his gaze and raised a paw before shutting one eye and shooting a segmented piece of spiraling and dark energy that pulsated as it shot in the marill's direction. it interrupted its 'rollout', and caused it to be roughly slammed into a tree.
"another shot," ash commanded. "keep it down."
one more 'dark pulse' got the job done, the marill toppling over after the energy-based blow had impacted its midsection.
"we're done here, let's look for somethin' else."
ash decided that they should maintain their momentum, and would hurry the dark-type along as they took leave of the felled fairy's form in favor of continuing their search.
"huh?"
it was at that moment that they would encounter zeref, whom was presently accompanied by a pair of pokemon - a growlithe and what appeared to be a ghost-type. the fighter's fox would halt several meters away from them, bristling as a ragged noise escaped his muzzle.
"wait a minute, jester. that's a trainer and his 'mons."
the girl and her medicham had only just caught up, the pair panting lightly as they blinked at the trainer.
"sorry 'bout that, man. he's friendly."

What is up this dancing Growlithe? How is it able to make smooth moves like that just like her trainer when it comes to posing? Malice looked down at herself wondering if it’s because they have arms and legs and she doesn’t. Now that she thinks about it sometimes it’s rather difficult to do what she wants without arms and this is becoming a problem. Maybe if she evolves she’ll have arms and will be bigger and a badass detective yes that’s what she wants! Although there is nothing wrong with her current size it’s just what she’s mentioned above!

Malice thought really hard about the situation until suddenly she heard the sound of snoring coming from a distance. Wait a minute what did she just hear? The ghost type turned around but only to see Zeref and Parsifal curled up together sleeping away with black markings all over their face! The ghost type flew up to them confused about their current situation. Something happened to them while she wasn’t looking what’s going on! The ghost type flew around in circles in panic until suddenly she came to a halt! She placed on her detective hat while lifted up her chin to show off her pose! It looks like detective Malice is on the case to solve the mystery between her sleeping trainer and partner in crime!

The ghost flew around them looking closely at the victims of this strange sleeping spell. There were strange markings on their faces but these markings looked like a child scribbles! So this could possibly mean a few things, it’s a kid or a baby Pokemon playing around and it somehow managed to put them to sleep aha she’s getting somewhere! Malice looked left to right scanning the area for any clues she could gather but that’s when she spotted something behind the trees! It was a pink ball of fluff similar to what Parsifal had fought earlier! Without hesitation, Malice activated her move PSYCHIC surrounding the creature with a light blue aura and forcing them back into the crime scene! Ah interesting the Pokemon she caught was a Jigglypuff now that explains everything!

Right when the wild was in position, Malice went off on the interrogating the Pokemon asking her exactly what she’s done to her team and what’s with the markings? The wild explained all she wanted to do was preform a song but they’ve fallen asleep the instant it rang into their ears. The Jigglypuff had gotten mad so it drew all over their face. AHAH SO THE JIGGLYPUFF IS THE CURLPLIT AFTER ALL! Malice shook her head trying to explain what her singing move does but it seems as if it put the Jigglypuff in a mental shock until suddenly it gave an evil laugh. It knew all along what that move does it just planned on summoning his powerful friend to eat the trainers alive and it looks like she is next!

Breaking out of the Psychic, the Jigglypluff was ready to use sing once more but Malice was ready for it! She sent out two swirly balls right when the big ball of puffiness took out it’s microphone however it was too slow to even gain the chase to start singing! Hit right on the mark, the Jigglypuff became confused however the fairy type wasn’t going to get beaten by this thing that easily! It tried to use PLAY NICE but Malice quickly countered blast it with PSYWAVE! The Jigglypuff grinned knowing darn well this Misdreavous is smart but not smart enough! The puff jumped into the air despite being confused as fuck to use her move POUND! Malice giggled at this Jigglypuffs stupidity as she watched it fade right through her. That was when the Jigglypuff realized she was fuck and the only thing she could do is SING her way out! Malice on the other hand saw this coming so she picked her up with PSYCHIC and threw her right at a tree and it hit! The ghost type wasn’t planning on letting this bastard get away with messing with her trainer and she will do whatever it takes to make her pay for what she has done!

When the Jigglypuff got back up, Malice used PSYWAVE once more and it hit again! This Jigglypuff wasn’t having its day going up against a ghost type like this! In the end this is why this Jigglypuff has backup however it looks like that backup isn’t coming so she just kept getting hit left and right by PSYWAVE, CONFUSE RAY, and PSYCHIC! In the end the Jigglypuff struggled to get on her feet panting and staring directly into the ghost type Pokemon eyes before suddenly it fainted!

Zeref’s let out a loud yawn, stretching out his arms before rubbing his eyes. “What the hell happened?” The Ranger asked looking down at Parsifal to see his pup waking up as well. “What’s with the markings on your face?” Zeref turned his head to see Malice staring down at the fainted Pokemon. “Oh so it was a Jigglypuff that caused all this mess.” Parsifal on the other hand was laughing his head off at his ridiculous markings on his face trainers face causing Zeref to jump on his feet, using his clothes to wipe off the markings from his face. “Shut up Parsifal you should see the look on your face too it’s priceless!” Parsifal blinked before quickly using his tail to wipe off the markings from his face as well before giving off a low growl at Zeref. “Serves you right!” Zeref joked before walking over to Malice. “Malice I can’t believe you has solved this case on your own! Thanks for waking us up that would’ve been embarrassing if a trainer walked by to see our silly faces.”

Did Zeref speek too soon? It looks like a trainer showed up with… oh shit is that a Zoroak? Zeref jumped nearly ten feet in the air before looking down at Parsifal. “HOW IS MY FACE?” Parsifal gave a slow nod before pointing at himself. “Your good too okay thank goodness!” The Ranger sighed before giving a slow nod to the trainer. “No worries no harm done! Wow that’s some powerful Pokemon you have there a Zoroak huh? Well aren’t they the coolest thing aren’t they Malice… Malice?” Zeref and Parsifal looked over to see the ghost type staring directly at the Zoroak with her eyes sparkling like no tomorrow until suddenly…. “MISDREAVOUS!” the ghost type said floating around the Zoroak with hearts in her eyes. “Oh is that your type?” The ranger asked before chuckling. “Sorry about her I hope you don’t mind allowing her to do her thing. She did save our ass after all.” The Ranger said with a smile on his face. “The name is Zeref it’s nice to meet you. I’m trying to train my Pokemon a bit before heading home. I’m assuming your doing the same thing as well?”

both ash and medicham appeared to be bemused by the misdreavous's display. it - no, she - was in the midst of circling around the fox whom blinked dumbly in response to the ghost-type's affectionate crooning. he raised himself up to his proper height and turned his head to properly take in the sight of the hovering creature.
"zorro?"
he gestured to himself with a claw, his tone betraying his confusion before it suddenly dawned upon the male. a sheepish look settled onto the sharp contours of his features, the zoroark absently scratching at his chin as he struggled to react in a dignified manner.
"ah - nah, it's alright," ash said, waving her hand in dismissal. "jester doesn't seem to mind it too much."
with the male being distracted by the female's attentions, she supposed she could retire his training session in favor of allowing him to socialize with the ghost-type.
"so," she drawled. "'zeref'?"
the girl cocked her head to the side, processing the name for a moment before she continued to speak, offering her hand in greeting.
"the name's ash. it's a pleasure."
once the introductions were out of the way, ash released a quiet and contemplative hum.
'i gotta figure out who to use next.'
her mind was still on training - it usually always was.
"duchess."
she snapped her fingers, suddenly reminded of her earlier plan to train the large pokemon.
'i haven't used her on land yet, have i?'
ash's gaze would shift to take in her immediate surroundings before she nodded in approval. there was an ample amount of space here that would allow for the water-type to comfortably maneuver upon land.
'need to get her a little more acclimated to all of this first.'
after picking out an appropriate spot a handful of meters away, she released the pokemon from her great ball. the large serpentine creature would blink before turning her head to and fro to take in the forested area that surrounded her on each side.
"duchess," ash said, raising her volume somewhat to attract the dual-type's attention.
the gyarados dipped her head to her mistress's level.
"we're doing a little training, alright? i'll find a target and you'll take it down for me."
she made the decision to experiment by making use of a lone tree that was on the slimmer side.
"try using 'aqua tail' on that tree over there."
the beast rumbled her acknowledgement before facing the chosen target and positioning her tail before her, a spiral of water encasing it moments later before it shot toward the plant. unfortunately, the attack would miss by a meter, and strike an unfortunate mr. mime that had been passing by instead. the attack sent the unsuspecting pokemon reeling, the pressurized water managing to knock it out the moment it struck.
"o-oh. well, heh."
duchess blinked and released yet another rumble, her tail flopping onto the ground.
"didn't mean for that to happen," ash said, grinning sheepishly.

What is this feeling deep down inside is this called love? Malice thought her heart pounding like no tomorrow as the little ghost type Pokemon continued to float around the dark type Pokemon! Meanwhile Zeref on the hand placed his hand on his hip giggling at this strange sight. It was cute to see Malice falling in love with another Pokemon and now he knows her type as well. The Ranger gave a slow nod at this with his hand on his chin as he stared at this beautiful sight. “I’ll keep that noted!” Zeref turned his head to Parsifal. “Don’t you see how adorable this is buddy? Malice is in love with a Zoroak! I wonder if it’s the hair or something man I can’t help but wonder what your type is?”

Parsifal looked up at him with a disgusted look on his face. Thankfully something else seemed to have caught Zeref’s attention and that was a Togetic! The pup licked his chops before turning himself into a ball of flames heading straight towards the Togetic! Zeref turned his head to see Parsifal slamming right into the Togetic getting a heads start from the battle. “Parsifal I’m assuming your taking care of this one huh?” The Ranger asked him before giving a slow nod. “Alright buddy I’ll let you handle this one. This trainer has some pretty cool Pokemon over here.” Zeref said pointing to the female using a Gyrados out of all Pokemon!

The pup gave a slow nod but apparently was flown back when the Togetic used the annoying move FAIRY WIND gosh fairy types are annoying! Parsifal shook his head before jumping to his feet however it looks as if the Togetic was getting ready to use MAGICAL LEAF but not for long! Parsifal danced his way through the placing one paw over the other as he did a smooth like dance to dodge the attack. When he got close he used EMBER right at the Togetic and it looked like it made direct contact! Parsifal allowed the Togetic to use PECK so that way he can get right in front of the flying type to use EMBER once more and it hit again!

Zeref clapped his hands as he watched the Togetic pass out on the ground. “Nicely done Parsifal but what else is new right?” The Ranger chuckled before accepting Parsifal’s pawshake however when the Ranger turned his head to see how the female was doing, his mouth dropped instantly at the sight of the Gyrados one shoting the Mr. Mime as if it was nothing heck even Parsifal’s mouth dropped the same time as his trainer! This must be an incredibly strong trainer if she managed to one shot that thing without a problem at all! “Holy shit!” Zeref said while Parsifal gave a slow nod in agreement. “If you can one shot that thing then you must be an Elite 4 member or something!”
