Race darted back at the stranger's sudden movements, responding to the appearance of the pokeball with a high pitched buzz of shock as he put a bit of distance between himself and the pair. Still he would continue to hover around the young man and his porygon, head tilting slightly as his gaze focused on the unusually blocky pokemon that hovered beside the human. He had never seen anything quite like that. It's felt strange, even unnatural. But rather than be intimidated the bug was rather curious, letting out a low hum as he inched closer to it once more. Despite his large form the yanmega was otherwise unintimidating, his movements more curious and excitable than threatening.

Frederick laughed softly to himself as he saw the trainer's sudden reaction in the distance, amused with both his pokemon and the 'new friend' he was trying to make. It was only natural to have such a response to a massive insect appearing in front of you and invading your personal space like that. There was a moment where the ranger thought he should be a bit concerned, but he quickly determined that no matter what happened Race wasn't going to be in much danger. Worst case scenario things got violent before he arrived and the bug would simply fly away.

As he entered earshot with Thad Frederick would slide his thumbs back behind his suspenders, his pace slowing considerably as he responded. "Thing? I'm not sure I see any thing you could be referring to." His gaze drifted to Race, whose attention was immediately captured by Frederick the moment he spoke. With a small nod of the head Frederick directed the pokemon back to him, which Race would quickly obey. A hand reached up to scratch the yanmega under his chin as it hovered over the ranger's left shoulder, the man's shoulders shaking slightly as he silently chuckled to himself. "He is named Race, and I'm sorry if he startled you. He can get a bit excitable when it comes to meeting new trainers and pokemon."

As if on queue a pair of pokemon would make their way out of the bushes, or rather an energetic aipom dragging a slackoth behind him. Frederick watched them for a moment, unsure as to why exactly they decided to come out into the open. The aipom's eyes were fixed on to Race, the monkey's droopy eyes betraying the scowl on his face. "It seems you aren't the only one his buzzing has disturbed." The yanmega moved to position himself between the attacking pokemon and his trainer, but stopped mid motion as the dark skinned ranger held a hand up to him. "You keep scouting the area and make sure no other pokemon sneak up on us. Tiny will handle this."

Frederick reached for his belt and pulled off a pokeball, which he would release to reveal a rather stoic looking nidoking whose eyes were already focused on the approaching pair of normal pokemon. Race let out a small sigh, looking a bit relieved to get his assignment. He didn't have an issue with battling, but it always felt bad to pick on obviously weaker pokemon. With one last cheerful buzz toward Thad and Romeo the yanmega flew back up into the sky, where he would watch the battle and the surrounding area from above.

Unlike the other pokemon, Tiny seemed to be completely disinterested in the unfamiliar faces. His nostrils flared as his eyes quickly darted between the slackoth and the aipom, his breathing remaining calm and steady despite the frantic eye movements. "This is a lesson on control, my friend. If you don't hold back against these inexperienced pokemon you'll surely kill them. You're going to let them get the first hit in and retaliate without causing lethal damage. Do you understand?" The horned beast let out a snort in response, the only sign of confirmation he could manage as he felt the thirst for battle welling up inside him.

Frederick shot a glance to Thaddeus, who he would offer a calm smile as he spoke. "I'll leave the slackoth to you, my friend." Upon hearing this Tiny would focus his gaze on the aipom, who would be the subject of his training. The nidoking took a single heavy step toward the purple monkey, who would respond by taking a step back in fear. The aipom was sure that he wouldn't be able to win this fight now that he had laid eyes on the poisonous pokemon. But what was he supposed to do? Leave his sluggish companion to face these two humans on his own? It seemed he had no choice but to fight.

The aipom would suddenly spring forward, pushing off the ground with the large hand on it's tail. The claws on it's hands extended and swiped out at the larger pokemon, aiming to scratch at him. Tiny didn't even flinch from the attack, the claws barely managing to leave a mark on his thick hide. "Double kick. Carefully." The drill pokemon's eyes narrowed as they tracked the target, it's aerial maneuver making it very easy to track it's trajectory. In fact it seemed that the pokemon would be landing right in front of him.

Tiny simply raised a knee to intercept the ape's fall, moving gently to make sure the first kick had enough strength to stun it without dealing too much damage. The aipom let out a soft grunt as it was bounced on the knee, the impact jarring him enough to cause a moment of dazed confusion. As he fell back to the ground again Tiny would pull a leg back before aiming to punt the normal type pokemon. The second kick connected, but was a bit more powerful than anticipated. It seemed that after the first weaker strike he couldn't help but give the second one a bit more force.

Frederick sighed as he watched the aipom fly a short ways through the air before landing back in the bushes. There wasn't a chance that little guy was going to get back up from that any time soon. "Well I don't think you killed it, so that's a good start. But it seems you've still got some ways to go." The nidoking looked over his shoulder at his trainer, shoulders and eyelids drooping slightly as he let out another snort through his nostrils. The lessons never ended with this guy.

The dark skinned trainer laughed softly as the trainer commented on the strength of his pokemon, a hand moving to carefully pat the muscular drill pokemon on the shoulder. He was quite proud of how powerful Tiny had become, so it was nice to hear a bit of recognition for it. Though the two of them still had quite a ways to go, so he wasn't about to go letting that get to his head. "We appreciate the praise, my friend. We've both worked hard to get here. Haven't we Tiny?" The pokemon simply grunted at the question, his eyes and ears remaining on alert as he sought out the next potential target for his training. He wasn't too excited about letting himself get knocked around by these flimsy normal types, but at if this was how he was to be trained he wasn't about to start complaining.

Meanwhile Race was still buzzing up above, keeping one eye on the battles below and another on the surrounding area. His watchful gaze eventually caught sight of movement, something heading toward the group at surprising speeds. At the same time Tiny would turn in the direction of the approaching pokemon, his ears picking up on the rapid footsteps in the distance. Frederick turned to look as well, but he couldn't quite make out what was heading toward them. Still he wasn't too worried, offering a rather casual answer to Thad's question. "You've never heard of us? How interesting. We Rangers are tasked with maintaining the balance of Pokemon in nature, as well as protect them from outside elements to ensure that they can develop and grow naturally. We also are the first to respond in the case of natural disasters to protect both people and pokemon alike."

While Frederick was giving his explanation to Thad Race was diving in to the moving object to get a closer look at what exactly was heading toward the group. It didn't take long for him to get near enough to spot a doduo that had a rather fierce look in his eye. Like it was filled with rage and aiming straight for Tiny. Perhaps the bird's sharp eyes witnessed the brutal defeat of the other pokemon in the area and was rushing to their aid. Or maybe he was just in a bad mood and wanted to pick on the biggest guy in sight. Whatever the case Race quickly decided to intervene.

The idea of entering battle without his trainer made the yanmega nervous, but he wasn't going to let that stop him. The large descended quickly, placing himself in the doduo's path and putting on the most threatening face he could muster. But the wingless bird would not be deterred by the insect, both heads lashing out and striking the pokemon with all of it's pent up aggression. Race winced from the attack, fluttering back a short ways in surprise. He really didn't expect the doduo to attack him considering the obvious difference in strength.

Seeing this Frederick simply laughed, shaking his head as the conflict unfolded. "It seems my flying friend has joined in the fun." The ranger reached into his satchel and pulled out a pair of binoculars, which he would use to get a better view of the battle. It would seem his determined little friend had decided to take on a flying type pokemon. How bold of him. Sliding the binoculars into his bag, Frederick would cup his newly freed hands around his mouth to funnel his voice toward the yanmega. "Ancient Power!" He shouted out at the top of his lungs, ensuring that his less than clever pokemon would hear him loud and clear.

Upon hearing this the yanmega quickly turned to look toward his trainer, shocked that even despite the distance between them he managed to help him through the battle. Filled with confidence Race would turn back to the doduo, his body glowing with a strange energy as rocks quickly shot up from the earth and started to float around the bug's body. The doduo charged forward, aiming to strike before the attack could be launched. But it wasn't quick enough, as the ancient power had already been unleashed. The numerous sizable rocks pelted the bird's fragile form, one of them knocking his legs out from underneath him and causing him to come skidding to a halt. That highly effective attack was all it took to dispatch the creature.

Filled with excitement and energy the speedy insect darted back to his trainer, all too pleased with the results of their efforts. "Brace yourself." The ranger would glance over to Thad, an amused smile on his face as the yanmega rammed his head into his owner's chest. The impact was surprising, causing him to take a step back to keep from falling over. Yet he didn't seem upset by his pokemon's enthusiasm, instead raising a hand to give the bug a soft pat on the head. "I think it's about time for us to head back. I trust you'll be find out here by yourself, right Thad?"
