{  } Ken stood at the entrance of the National park doing something a little bit different from his usual routine: He was challenging his trainers who came into the park as he tried to find a proper challenge. So far he had taken on just three, a couple of youngsters and a young man who deemed himself to be an ‘ace trainer’ to sum them all up the youngsters had presented him with rattata and the self proclaimed ace didn’t have anything but a Machop and Poochyena, both Pokemon swept under the rug by Texas’ mighty pincers. At the moment the blonde was staring down yet another young trainer, the boy shaking in his shoes as he fumbled with his Pokeballs, “You uh, you didn’t know what you were doing did you?” he chuckled to the nervous boy, all of the kid’s Pokemon had been defeated, though all he had was a majority of young bug Pokemon. All had been defeated with ease up until a Metapod was summoned up, then things got a little toughed since it just kept using harden. “Welp, you’ll have to do better next time I guess,” he shrugged, “Get outta here, my next challenger ought to be here soon.” he child stuck his tongue out and swore something at the muscle head only to earn a mocking laugh as he was waved off. With him out of the way Ken expected yet another young trainer to enter the park. When the park’s entrance echoed with another pair of foot steps Ken readied himself. The first thing he saw was a head of Pink hair and the first thing to come out of his mouth, “Whoa... Who are you?” he paused for a moment as he stared at the woman with a bewildered gaze, his mouth hung open for a moment before raising his hands, “I mean uh, hey let’s battle angel eyes, I mean doll face, I mean hey your hair’s pink... | [attr="class","niknik2"] Kogane City was beautiful in it's own right, but not really Vannah's style. While she loved big cityscapes and the hustle and bustle of so many people, she really felt at home in nature. So when she found out that Kogane had it's own National Park, Vannah knew that would be the first place she visited on her day off.[break][break] It was beautiful, sunny, and hot as hell. But Vannah didn't mind. She was wearing a cute little outfit with a straw hat to match and all the sunburns in the world couldn't make her feel bad about being outside, finally. She had spent the last week and a half in scrubs and under fluorescent lights, she was probably losing her tan! Della, Vannah's Ponyta, was trotting happily beside her. Della loved the sun and the heat, it seemed to energize her. As Vannah peered at her partner she wondered what sort of pokemon lived in the National Park and if anything would be worth training against.[break][break] But Vannah's train of thought veered off as a young trainer stomped past her, frustration in his eyes. He had a couple pokeballs in his arms and, if Vannah could have guessed, was probably heading to the Pokemon Center. Vannah sighed a little in relief. Thank goodness she wasn't there right now! That boy looked like a handful.[break][break] As Vannah walked up the crest of a small hill, a voice caught her attention. She looked up to find a muscular young man who seemed to bask in the sun about as much as she did. She couldn't seem him that well do to the glare in her eyes, but his voice was crystal clear. Vannah raised her hand to her forehead to block the sun and finally get a good look at the guy's face, but ended up being distracted by what he was saying — angel eyes? Doll face? There might have been a bit of a blush flourish on Vannah's cheeks as she looked at him. He was pretty cute, too. Or maybe it was just the compliments. She shook her head a little, as if to tell herself knock it off, and looked to her Ponyta to avoid eye contact while she regained her composure.[break][break] Vannah laughed a little, as he seemed a little flustered. "Yeah, I do have pink hair," she said, looking back up at him. Man, the sun was bright. She squinted a little and stopped a few feet in from of him. "And your hair is yellow. Are you the one who just fought that little trainer a minute ago? He looked super mad. Glad I don't have to deal with him at the Pokemon Center, haha!" She grinned in a friendly way, but kept her attention on what the guy had to say. Was he a strong trainer? He had asked her to battle, but he still seemed a little flustered. Vannah peered at her Ponyta and wondered if battling with this guy was gonna be too one-sided. Guess she'd just have to see.[break][break] Suddenly, she realized she never introduced herself. "Sorry, I'm Savannah, by the way. You can just call me 'Vannah', though. Most people do." Vannah held her hand out for a friendly shake, hoping the burly man wouldn't crush her fingers. { } Ken was still perplexed by the beauty before him. For some odd reason this girl kept putting him in mind of a rose, she was so beautiful, he had never met someone like this before, or more so he had never met someone who made him lose his words just by staring at them. Still, even in his shaken state, he managed to listen to everything she said, her introduction, her name and her pointing out the young man he had recently beaten. “Oh! Yes, yes, I beat that kid not long ago, I’ve been battling all day!” he enthusiastically took her hand with his shaky palm and shook it gently, “I’m Ken, it’s really nice to meet you.” his usual smile had become weak as the burly blonde had shown that he was extremely nervous just speaking to her. He needed to get some self-control back, sure she was pretty but he was supposed to be battling here! “Uh! Yeah! Hey, it’s really nice to meet you... Do you wanna walk with me for a bit?” Ken bit his own tongue as he realized what he had said, he was SUPPOSED to ask her to battle with that ponyta of hers but instead he had just made himself look a bigger fool by asking something so elementary. “Ugh.” he hid his blushing expression with one of his hands as he smacked himself in the forehead. He was acting like such a dweeb, he needed to play it cool so she would properly battle him and see him as an opponent and not some sort of bashful child. With a deep breath, he spoke from behind his hand, “Okay, look, you’re really pretty okay?” he finally managed to mumble the words out, a compliment of sorts one he had actually learned not long ago. She had to have had a ‘boyfriend’ thing or whatever it was called so he was probably wasting his time being so nervous. “Can we please walk together?” DANG IT, he had said it again. This time he wouldn't display the same foolishness he had before, instead, he smiled with it and smiled at her with his million-dollar grin. Vannah Becker MADE BY VEL OF GS |

| [attr="class","niknik2"] Vannah was surprised as he took her hand lightly and gently, shaking it as if it was delicate and not at all in the way she expected. She smiled at him as he introduced himself as Ken. He still seemed a little flustered, and Vannah wondered why. Nobody in Hoenn had ever acted this way around her. Maybe pink hair was just uncommon in Johto? But then why was he so nervous yet so nice? He seemed really sweet despite his brawny appearance. Vannah though back to what he said before. Angel eyes....[break][break] She perked up as Ken asked her to go on a walk with him. Oh? He was more flustered than she had thought! Vannah giggled a little to herself as Ken covered his face exasperatedly. She caught the slightest bit of pink in his cheeks before he hid it away. Super cute! Vannah raised her hand to hide her smile, hoping Ken wouldn't think she was making fun of him.[break][break] Ken took a deep breath before continuing to speak, and what he said stopped Vannah in her tracks. She was shocked — pretty? He thought she was pretty? The tables quickly turned, and now it was Vannah who was flustered. Her face burned as her cheeks glowed bright red at the compliment. He had said it under his breath, almost to himself. Had she really made him that nervous? But she didn't look that great! No makeup, messy hair, probably bags under her eyes from working so much — and he really thought she was pretty...?[break][break] Vannah gulped, staring at her feet. She had nothing to say, just stunned silence. Her heart was pounding in her chest like a giant bass drum. She needed to control herself! She was acting like a teenager with a crush! Vannah attempted to fan her face with her hand, keeping her eyes away from Ken's face. Could she even look at him now without freaking out? Oh dear.[break][break] She looked up as Ken asked her to walk again, maybe another fumble or maybe not. He was grinning a bright, signature grin. Oh God. He's too cute! Vannah looked to Della beside her, who was perplexed by it all.[break][break] "Y-yeah, sure!" Vannah exclaimed, maybe a little too excited. She cursed herself for fumbling over her words. It was a bad habit she had when she was flustered. Vannah coughed a little and cleared her throat, standing up taller but still avoiding eye contact. "I'd really like to, actually. { } Ken waited nervously for her answer, his cheeks were red, his eyes read with hopeful optimism and his lips displayed a nervous grin. Had he not been able to somewhat compose himself he would have been sweating like crazy. For some odd reason Vannah had put his mind in a maze of worry, not of losing to her in a battle but mostly just being near her and not looking like a complete doofus! She was just so beautiful! Every time he laid his eyes on her he felt himself melting. With a few more staggered words the girl reacted just as red-faced as he was about the question, though what happened next lit a fire in the cautious blonde. The excitement in her voice, no matter how little, was picked up by him and his entire demeanor relaxed as he pumped a fist in the air, “Really?! You will! Sweet! Sweet! Sweet!” his smile curled from ear to ear as he childishly bounced up and down. His blue sapphire-like eyes were lighting up, he was so excited to walk with her! This was probably the most excited he was to walk with anyone. “Yes! I’ll show you around! We can check out the fountain and look at Pokemon! Oh! You can meet my Pokemon too! Indiana should be around here somewhere!” twas true, Indiana was somewhere, the only reason Ken had been winning any battles was because Texas and Delaware could handle themselves so well though, he really wanted to test out his new Eevee and when her time came to battle she instead bounced off to Lord knows where. “Shall we get going?” he held out an arm, “I- I mean, erm. Would you like to start walking lovely?” ugh, first thing he probably should have stopped doing was throwing compliments.. But he just couldn't help it! The more he looks at her the less he can resist calling her anything less than beautiful. At least he could use the walk as an excuse to find Indiana. Vannah Becker MADE BY VEL OF GS |

| [attr="class","niknik2"] Ken reacted opposite to how Vannah would think a tall, muscular man would. He started grinning and bouncing around, almost as if she had given him the gift of a lifetime. He was as boisterous as a puppy, and about as cute as one too. Vannah couldn't help but giggle as he pumped his fist in time with his hops. Nobody had ever been as enthusiastic to show her around anywhere before — not even people who were paid to act enthusiastic to tour people around.[break][break] As Ken mentioned his pokemon, Vannah began to wonder what variety he might train. If she had to guess, it'd be all fighting types — but maybe he branched out more than that. The thought of him having a pokemon that was cute and fluffy was too adorable to comprehend at the moment, so she focused instead on his outreached arm.[break][break] "Oh, right!" Vannah laughed nervously as she precariously reached her hand out. She curled her fingers around the crook of Ken's arm almost like it was as fragile as a feather and she was afraid of breaking it — not that she thought she could break Ken's arm. His muscles were probably the size of soup cans, but that's exactly the thing Vannah didn't want to focus on right now.[break][break] Vannah started walking alongside Ken, honestly excited to see where he'd take her and what she might see. This wasn't what she expected to see on her day off, but it was definitely an upgrade from walking alone. And he seemed so nice! What were the odds? Unfortunately in her line of work, she probably wouldn't see him again at all... or at least not for a long while. But then again, Johto was a completely new experience for her. Maybe this could be the start of a new friendship? Or more?[break][break] Calm down! Vannah told herself, shaking her head. "This is real life, not just some mushy love story! You just met this guy! Chill out, you don't even know him!Della seemed to be feeling the same thing. The Ponyta was suddenly a little protective, walking close to her trainer with her eyes peeled on the tall man leading them along. Vannah didn't seem to notice, too caught up in her daydreams. There was a bit of silence, and after a beat, Vannah began to speak on a different subject. "You know, um, you don't have to be so nice..." she gulped. "I-I mean don't get me wrong, getting called such nice things like... um, lovely... is really sweet and I appreciate it... but I know I look like a mess right now, you don't have to try and make me feel better!" { } Ken couldn’t help but notice that Vannah was shifting a bit with every compliment. In truth, this was the first time he had ever gone out of his way to compliment someone and he didn’t have a clue why. She was just so, perfect to him, everything about her rang with beauty and elegance, so much so just being near her made his heart smash, not pound, but smash against his chest. Even when she merely placed her fingers in the crook of his arm he felt like he was going to faint. At least he had managed to hide his embarrassment with his burst of happiness, though such a burst would be short lived as he took note of her Pokemon’s protective behavior. That was right, if he wanted to win over the mother, he had to win over the kids first. In any case, he would gladly make friends with the fire type and even treat it like it was his, not in the Virus sense of thievery, but rather the sense of letting it know it could trust him just as much as his own Pokemon did... Speaking of which. When she spoke of him not needing to compliment her so much he couldn’t help but let his grin return, sunlight gleaming across his pearly whites. “What do you mean nice?” despite the smile his words were confused, “I’m not just being nice, you’ll have to forgive me if I’m forward but Vannah you’re the most gorgeous woman I’ve ever met, no faux praises. Like, it’s true you really are bea-” almost like it was on a Que a brown blur darted from a nearby flower patch and straight into the blonde’s gut with quick attack. Reactivity Ken clutched his stomach and whatever had hit him and fell off of his feet letting go of Vannah and getting knocked to the ground with a thud. On the ground, down and out, Ken was just a bit dazed as an Eevee sat on his chest, his Eevee. Indiana in all of her glory. With a smile the fox looked down at her trainer almost like she had knocked him silly on purpose, “I-Indi... Good shot.” Ken groaned. Indiana looked from her trainer up to the woman and her Pokemon, her chocolatey brown eyes looked from one to the other before she dismissively looked away from them both and hopped off of the fallen blonde kicking up the grass behind her before walking back off. “P-please forgive her.” he sat up holding his stomach, “I got her from a guy with a lot of issues.” Vannah Becker MADE BY VEL OF GS |

She looked straight at her feet as they walked slowly through the park, her open hand absentmindedly rubbing her Ponyta on it's head. Della relaxed a little under her touch, but still stayed open and aware. She had a hard time trusting other trainers, no matter how nice. But maybe this guy wasn't half bad, so she'd give him a chance.[break][break] "I just really don't think —" Vannah's words were cut short as Ken was suddenly knocked to the ground. Immediately Vannah went into trainer mode, taking a strong stance and ready to attack anything that could be harming Ken. But to her surprise, it was a tiny little Eevee. And by the way Ken wasn't surprised, this must be the little Indiana they were looking for.[break][break] Before Vannah could ask if it was, the little Eevee sassily walked off, but not before knocking some dirt onto Ken. { } Normally Ken would have chased Indiana down when she pulled this sort of thing, though he suspected that she was more angry about the name change than he thought. She was certainly an interesting Pokemon, though, when angry she grew more and more scary as time went on. This wasn’t the first time since he got her she used a move on him, but for it to happen now of all times... It was kinda embarrassing. Ken would find his embarrassment subsiding when he looked up to the Pink angel above him, she was so radiant, even when he was on the ground the light had no choice but to agree with her. “You’re kind, but I’m alright.” he rubbed his abdomen, a bruise wasn’t going to form since the Eevee seemed to be holding back, but it was still pretty painful to do, “I guess she was waiting for me to walk by. And uh, that’s Indiana by the way. Indi for short. Oh hey, you should meet my ace! He can help us find her.” Reaching into his pocket he retrieved a Pokeball, with the emission of red light from the center a haunter would materialize, all smiles and jagged teeth. “Delaware!” he beamed as he opened his arms to the ghost type, the purple Pokemon hugging his trainer. With a few pats on the back and the bro hug concluded Ken would begin introductions, “Delaware, meet Vanny, I can call ya that right?” he smiled up at her. Regardless of her answer, he’d continue, “And Vannah, meet Delaware the Haunter!” With introductions out of the way, “But yeah, we should find her, Dela, think you can lead the way? You know her better than anyone.” Delaware nodded, but not before he’d drift over to the Ponyta and give it a lick, “Boy! I taught you better than that!” Ken waved off the ghost type as he stood back up, “Get movin.” “S-sorry about that. He's really friendly! Here's let me dry you off-" he raised his shirt to the ponyta, abdominals just peaking underneath as he hastily tried to wipe the slob off her face.. He was doing a bit too much. "You sure you're alright?" she asked with concern, "I might only be a Pokemon Nurse, but I can try and heal you up if you're hurt." Della sassily rolled her eyes and stomped her feet from a distance. Silly humans.[break][break] Suddenly Ken seemed to light up with an idea, pulling out a pokeball and releasing a Haunter from it. He greeted his pokemon like it was an old friend from college, patting it on it's back (did Haunter even have backs?) as if it was a bro. Vannah laughed a little at the display, but shut right back up again at her apparent new nickname.[break][break] "O-oh, I guess you can...?" Vannah said quietly, more to herself than to Ken really. 'Vanny' was a nickname she hadn't heard before. It sounded like something a 6 year old would call her, but she didn't really mind. It was kinda cute. But Ken plowed through the introductions without a second thought, leaving Vannah facing the Haunter who was... deceptively? Scary.[break][break] "Hi Delaware," Vannah said to the ghost pokemon. "It's nice... to, uh... meet... you..." her voice trailed off as the Haunter floated up to Della, giving the Ponyta a big lick right on her face. "Oh dear."[break][break] Normally Della would have lashed out at the Haunter, but she was honestly too stunned to do much of anything. Her fur was now facing every which way and was very, very sticky. Ken was scolding his pokemon, but the Haunter didn't really seem to mind. Meanwhile Della stared into the abyss, shocked that another pokemon would be so forward with her.[break][break] Vannah stood from her crouch and moved towards her Ponyta, but Ken was too fast. He got to Della first, and while in any other circumstance Vannah would have kept her senses and told Ken to not approach her pokemon without asking for a swift kick you-know-where, Ken was currently lifting his shirt enough for Vannah to lose any train of thought she might have had in that moment.[break][break] "I-I, uh... I-I don't think you should, uh, do that —" Vannah said, eyes glazed over as if in some sort of trance. She couldn't really focus right now. Della's face was currently being wiped by some sweaty guy's shirt, and he was a little too into it. Della snapped out of it and started squirming against Ken's hands like a toddler being fed some disgusting baby food, sticking her tongue out and eventually stepping away to shake her whole body free of the goosebumps the Haunter had given her. Della looked Ken in the eye and snorted, turning tail and following behind Delaware with her head and tail held high in a post that shouted "don't touch me, I don't need you!" Vannah rubbed her eyes in exasperation, frustrated with herself for getting so distracted. "Sorry, she's a little sassy sometimes...." Vannah laughed a little to herself. "Looks like we've both got pokemon that need some manners, huh?" Vannah mustered up a smile as she looked back at Ken, but then hastily started following after the pokemon that were leading them. {  } The girl before him was sweet, as sweet as she could be! To think he was going to try and hurt her Pokemon earlier there was no way he could do such a thing. That said he did take a mental picture of indiana and Della together while they walked off in their high nosed manners. They looked damn near like the same Pokemon outside of species... Perhaps he’s found a new friends for the Eevee, maybe more. His eyes went back to Vannah as he found his balance and smiled at her once again. She was so beautiful, he could have stared at her all day, or so he would have liked to until the sound of high pitched laughter caught his ear. A plusle was laughing at him, the small rodent was hunched over laughing with one of his little red paws on his stubby little knees as he laughed at the display by the male. For such a small Pokemon it’s laugh was irritating and loud. From when ken remembered Plusle and Minun were supposed to be cheering Pokemon, but this one, with a tuft of cream-colored hair on the top of his head, was having a good laugh at the blonde’s expense. “Oh yeah! I bet you wouldn’t laugh if you got a knuckle sandwich.” Ken held up a fist at the long eared Pokemon causing it to stop. With a glare in its eye it looked back at the bigger man and held up its fist, or lack there of, as well and gritted its teeth, “Plus, plus, plus!” it seemed to be giving a similar thread. Marching up to the little Pokemon the Hero got on a knee and tried his best to get on its level as he leaned over, the little red Pokemon hopped in place to get into eye contact with the human as they had a stare down for the ages. “Grr, if she wasn’t here he’d suplex you rodent...” Ken growled. “Plus, plus!” (same here human! if moi girl wasn’t here i’d kick your ass) the rage seemed to begin to boil over as an imaginary tiny spark began to form between their peering eyes before Ken would smirk catching the electric type off guard. With some slight of hand he took a Pokeball out of his pocket and clicked it against the Plusle’s body, capturing it right then and there. “That’ll teach ya. Heh. | [attr="class","niknik2"] Vannah was ahead of Ken by a few steps before she heard the laugh. It was high pitched and obnoxious, and obviously from a small pokemon. By the time she turned around, Ken was already eye-to-eye with the Plusle — and the only way he could do that was by practically crawling on the ground. She was confused by their "conversation" of sorts, and found it a little hard to follow. The Plusle had pointed to a bush behind him, but was then quickly absorbed by Ken's pokeball before it could say anything else.[break][break] "He was a little bastard," Vannah chuckled as Ken approached, but she kept her eyes on the bush the Plusle had pointed at. It had started to shake.[break][break] Vannah looked back towards Della and Ken's Haunter, but they were a ways off now. Too far to battle if another pokemon showed up. Vannah kept her eyes peeled on the bush, and then slowly started to approach it.[break][break] The bush shook even more as she got close. Vannah watched it curiously before crouching down beside it and moving some branches away. There sat a tiny Minun, curled up in a ball and shaking in fear.[break][break] "It's alright, it's okay," Vannah said quietly, slowly moving her hand towards the tiny rodent pokemon. It was too petrified to move. "I'm not gonna hurt you. Was that Plusle your friend?" Vannah faintly started to pet the Minun's pelt, watching as it's shakes slowly started to subside. It's tiny head rose up, tears in it's eyes, and it sniffed as it nodded at Vannah's words.[break][break] "Listen, everything's okay. If you come with me, we can play with Plusle all the time, without having to deal with scary wild pokemon! Does that sound okay?" Vannah pulled an empty pokeball from her belt, lightly tapping on the Minun's body as it's eyes grew wide with what looked like wonder, fear, and confusion. It was absorbed into the pokeball, and Vannah watched it as it wriggled in her hand.[break][break] "We should catch up to the others," Vannah said as she stood, dusting the dirt off of her legs and looking back to Ken with a smile.
