It had been a brilliant plan, profiting off of the summer heat that swelled the numbers in the National Park during the day with home made Poffins for Pokemon and cookies for everyone else. Of course, home was a relative thing when you were fresh on a journey in a new region; in this case, "home" had been the Pokemon Center's dormitory for traveling trainers and it's tiny kitchenette. The only thing Darcy Quinn hadn't factored in were the required permits to sell food in the park, which is how the blanket he'd set up shop on was currently being accosted by a security guad. An ice cream vendor in a cart nearby snickered, and Darcy had little doubts as to who complained to the park's management about the newcomer. He narrowed his eyes at the man and groaned out one final apology before accepting that if he didn't do something quick, he was going to be thrown out of the park.
"Cupcake," he called, pulling a pokeball from the messenger bag at his hip and releasing a munchlax from it, "lunch time."
The guard and other vendors were amazed at the comical, almost cartoonish rate that the munchlax devoured the poffins and most of the cookies. Darcy sighed, at least taking solace in the fact his little buddy was getting a meal out of it. Then again, in his experience, Cupcake would literally eat anything.
With his operation shut down and his munchlax contentedly full, Darcy eyed some of the nearby grasses at the sounds of distant battles. It was a well known fact that trainers battled in areas around the park, and better yet that wild Pokemon called it home and people were encouraged to capture them. He'd only ever had Cupcake on his team, but there were other Pokemon he knew he'd want. Tropius, with its fruit bearing neck, Vanilluxe and it's ice-cream appearance or perhaps most of all Slurpuff; the fairy was well known for it's nose and a fixture in Kalosian style pastry making as a kitchen helper.
Would he find any of them here? He had high doubts, but if he was going to ever get around to opening the cafe of his dreams he needed money, which came from battling, which required more than one hungry little munchlax. "You ready for this buddy?" He asked Cupcake, the Munchlax chewing on a flower stem in her mouth now. Good thing they were practically immune to poisoning themselves through eating at least.

The sudden zap of electricity caused Cupcake to wince, and from out of the bushes a Pikachu came; it practically spat at the pair. Darcy fist pumped at the sight of the electric rodent. Pikachu were pretty popular, cute, and rare in a lot of places like Alola, so even if this one was ornery he could probably at least trade it for something a little easier to handle. Besides for that, as he looked at Cupcake to check if she was alright all he saw was venom in her eyes for the Pikachu.
Now, you should probably understand that as a Munchlax Cupcake was perfectly content to be tubby or chubby and happily called herself it from time to time. It was an entirely different story when someone else tried to insult her over her size, however.
"It's time to die, rat." The response, in Munchlax, was entirely missed on Darcy as a normal human. Even so, the tone of her bark was decidedly nasty.
The Pikachu darted forward with a cackle before turning around to waggle his tail in the Munchlax's face to lower her defenses. She replied by steeling her nerve with a Curse, raising her defense and attack while lowering her speed. It would mitigate the stat loss and increase her offensive prowess at the same time. Her trainer cheered her on from the side. They'd been together for awhile, and even if Darcy hadn't ever really thought of using her in a battle before, he was more than confident in what the little Pokemon could pull off.
The mouse Pokemon fell back, cheeks sparking as it jolted Cupcake with another Thundershock but the Munchlax merely laughed at the sensation. The look on the Pikachu's face at that darkened. It yipped aggressively, but all the Munchlax did was Curse again, the same aura surrounding her briefly as she shored her defenses around her. The mouse would yip, taunting the Munchlax at how she'd ever hit him to keep up and fired another Thundershock. Darcy's heart was racing at that point, unsure himself of just how many blasts of electricity the little normal type could endure.
When it Thundershocked once more, Cupcake's resolve finally broke and she cried out in pain slightly. The Pikachu cried triumphantly, darting forward even while it panted to stick a tongue out in Cupcake's face. The Munchlax, upon the Pikachu closing the gap, moved to fall forward but lifted off her feet while she did so.
Ever wonder what happens to a Pikachu when it gets Body Slammed by a Munchlax with a few Curses under it's belt? The sound, Darcy can now attest to, is unpleasant. Throwing a Pokeball at the battered, nigh unconscious form of the electric rodent, he waited to see if the Pika-pancake could even muster the strength to resist.
