The Riolu had spotted the anomaly a few moments before Lars did—and just as he was about to address the woman who’d come across their path accompanied by a Quilava, the surroundings suddenly went dark.

And then the eyes began showing up. At first it was one, then two, and then continued to multiply until there were so many Lars had to shut his eyes and covered his ears with his hands due to the ringing and the disembodied voices he heard. “Tell me you’re not the only one hearing this,” he said over to his companion, looking around—he could swear the sun was shining a few moments ago.

What the hell was going on?!

The Fighting-type then ran backwards towards Lars, baring its fangs and preparing a Blaze Kick attack to attack the levitating specters that had literal faces made of who-knew-what floating and just smirking at them. “I don’t know about you, but this is some messed-up shit,” he added a few moments later, pressing his hands down on his ears further—why could he still hear the voices ringing around them? Shutting his eyes and taking a deep breath in order to calm himself down, he then looked down at the Riolu, who was now snarling at the two Gastly that were hovering around them.

“Take it down,” he remarked—more like, almost yelled at his companion—and the Riolu quickly charged forward, its legs ablaze before catapulting itself into the air and aiming the already-prepared Blaze Kick right at the face of the first Gastly that had charged forward and tried to catch the Fighting-type with a Lick attack. Grossed out, the Fighting-type then spun around before landing the second part of its attack before landing back on the ground and skidding away. That tongue felt gross!

Not to be deterred, the dual-type then continued on with Spite—and while initially it meant that the Gastly made its presence even more suffocating, the Riolu backed away out of surprise due to the menacing aura it was exuding. “Don’t get intimidated by that! Keep going!” he called out, before the Riolu steeled its resolve and set its feet ablaze again before charging once more at the Gastly with another Blaze Kick attack. The first kick connected straight on in the face, and just as the dual-type attempted to use Spite once again, the Fighting-type spun around in mid-air, catching it with the tail-end of its attack.

Somersaulting back to the ground, the Riolu landed in a skidding position, before standing back up and glaring at the incoming Gastly, who had its tongue out and was now going in for another Lick attack. “Brace yourself and shove it back!” he continued, finally dropping his hands from his ears—but the strange, downright creepy scenery still remained around them. He didn’t know if they were in an illusion or not, but the Haunter seemed to be heading…towards his companion?!

He had to get his battle done quick; and turned around in time to see the Riolu Counter the incoming attack on the Gastly. While the tongue felt absolutely disgusting against his face, the power of the attack was sent back double, and the dual-type backed away—but the Riolu wasn’t done yet. Setting his feet on fire once again, he charged forward and somersaulted into another Blaze Kick attack and beaned the Gastly again square on the forehead before sending the specter to the ground.

Not satisfied with how it had taken care of its opponent, the Fighting-type then somersaulted away again—only to get hit in the face with another Spite from the Gastly. At this point, though, the Fighting-type was regally pissed off. Without so much as waiting for Lars to tell him what to do, the Fighting-type then dashed forward, feet blazing before kicking the incoming tongue of the Gastly as hard as it could, catching it in a spinning kick before skidding away from it.

Another attempt at a Lick came—but was met right in the face with a Counter, doubling the power of the initial attack and smacking the Gastly again. He remembered something about persistence, but at the same time…was catching one of them a good idea? Who knows what’s going to happen… he thought, quickly digging into his coat pocket and popping it to full size; before tossing it at the fallen Gastly and watching as it was sucked up in a flash of red light before it clattered to the path…

Congratulations young trainers... You have reunited the two Pokemon and they seem in good spirits despite the capture of one of their comrades. In the end, Lars obtains 300 additional Poke for his efforts, Hyo receives 300 poke for defeating and an additional 500 for giving up her Frosslas. The two ghost type Pokemon vanish before your eyes and the route returns to normal... Note: Rewards have been given with this Post, all rewards for end thread will be given as normal with no additions.

Thankfully, the weird encounter had an amiable ending. While his companion had set loose a Froslass that they owned to the Haunter (seriously, what was up with that?), the creepy, weird vibes just kept on setting him on end. While he didn’t know why that was the case, once the exchange had happened everything faded out and returned back to normal.

Back to the normal route 32; the weird vibes he was picking up on had ebbed away as quickly as they came.

“You think they’ll chase me down because I caught one of their minions?” he asked in a joking manner, before taking the hand offered in his direction and returning the gesture. Now that he had a name to put to the face, he was a little surprised—were there really more regions other than the ones he was familiar with? Her name doesn’t sound like anything from home, or from here…wonder if she’s from a different region like myself… he thought before he got cut off and another Pokémon interrupted them.

Seeing as he’d already acquired the ghost-type, he then walked over to look for the containment unit—but it wasn’t there. Oh, right. Must’ve been taken to the Center since I have a full team… he continued to muse to himself as he casually returned to where he stood a few moments earlier, watching as his Riolu began ghosting moves at an imaginary opponent, waiting until the other’s battle was over.

“Oh, I hate being interrupted. Don’t you think?” he continued with a bit of a grin on his face. “Anyway, before we were interrupted, I’m Lars. Hopefully nothing too weird happens to me since I got that Gastly,” he added a few moments later.
