[googlefont=Fira+Sans|Playfair+Display] [attr="class","firedand1"] MY DEAR, WE'RE --  mount suribachi had nothing left to offer her. her quest for a stronger team left her beaten and bruised. and almost dead, too. she wouldn't make the same mistake again. so, her desires led her to the safari zone, which up until that day, she had no intentions of ever visiting.
it was a tourist trap: there were stalls and booths littered outside the entrance, selling a wide variety of things. she had no problems with that. she, however, had a problem with the noise it all seemed to create. ava was someone who valued quietness; solidarity in silence. to have that taken away from her was upsetting, and quite frankly, obnoxious.
she slithered her way through the crowd, doing her best not to sneer at anyone who dared look at her the wrong way. she almost snapped at one of the clowns who approached her, but held it together long enough to walk right past them. through them. either way, she was out and away. the door to the safari zone was in sight.
three safari balls, three captures. it was simple; the only challenge here was whether she'd run into something worth catching. she had heard rumors that spread about fossil-pokemon; she hoped it to be true, because she would love one. oh, the fear she could drive into people with a dinosaur. she loved it. she craved it. she needed it. | notes cacturne lv 60 |

[googlefont=Fira+Sans|Playfair+Display] [attr="class","firedand1"] MY DEAR, WE'RE -- there's silence in the air; something she's thankful for. the distant chatter of the crowd outside drowns out the deeper she proceeds. soon she hears nothing but the sounds of nature; vibrant, fresh. she kneels to the ground and runs her fingers along the soil. it's cold, smooth, but there are markings that indicate movement of something. she's just not sure what. from the looks of it, a dinosaur; three pointed tips with one distinct base. if her assessment is correct, then she's closer to what she wants than she expects.
a ruffling from the trees that tower over tells her something's approaching. she tenses and readies herself for a battle. her hand reaches for lugh's pokeball, snapping it open without a second thought. cacturne forms in front of her, acting as her shield. he's too still for her liking; his head doesn't move, but his eyes do as he scans the nearby vicinity for their enemy.
"lugh, ahead."
she sees it before him. all it takes is a blink and he's gone, moving forward for an intuitive SUCKER PUNCH. he doesn't know what he's punching, he just knows it's his foe. his fist lands against cool metal, sharp metal that shines even under the shade provided by the trees. that's when she realizes; it had buffed itself up with a SWORDS DANCE, and as it takes the punch, it's been long ready for its counter attack. the honedge swoops forward, SLASHing into the thick of lugh's skin. he's taken aback by the sheer damage, but doesn't stumble. his feet digs into the ground as he holds his position, even in the face of a boosted IRON HEAD.
and there it is again, the grin on his face. it's sinister in nature, and yet, it doesn't frighten her. he grabs the sword by its end, holding it in place before slamming his head into it for a PAYBACK. it's close to fainting, she realizes that much, so she swiftly recalls lugh back into his pokeball before he can deliver the finishing blow.

[googlefont=Fira+Sans|Playfair+Display] [attr="class","firedand1"] MY DEAR, WE'RE -- even after recalling her cacturne, she still feels unsettled by his presence. that's the whole purpose of scarecrows; they exist to scare away unwanted pests. they were created to instill fear. lugh's done just that.
she knows it's her fault. she trained him too hard, too intensely; didn't give him enough time to properly develop. she rushed him, forced him to become something he wasn't ready becoming. she's not a psychologist, nor a pokemon expert, but she knows nothing good comes out of forcing something. a drastic, sudden change can be catastrophic.
sighing, she steps forward to retrieve the now-occupied safari ball off the ground. she presses the button and calls out her honedge. having just been a battle, its sudden emergence sends it into a slight fit of panic. "it's okay," she reaches a hand out, "it's okay." hand into her backpack retrieves out a potion. she holds it carefully, showing it to the honedge as if conveying that she means no harm.
taking a step closer, she gives him a friendly smile. "this will help you. hold still." with one squeeze, she sprays it onto the honedge. as the liquid starts to heal the damage inflicted by cacturne, she drops the empty potion back into her backpack. "my name's ava." honedge isn't able to smile, but she thinks that's what he's doing. either way, she smiles back. she's going to take a different approach this time.
"ukko. that's yours."
the grass ruffles and out comes a lickitung, tongue so long that it drags against soil. it doesn't appear hostile as it simply waddles around, searching for food. it's a good chance for them to get familiarized, so she pulls out her pokedex and lets it scan ukko. she reads and learns what she can, but ultimately, leaves the decision up to him. "do you want to battle?" she asks. he can't nod, but he tries by tilting his entire form forward. he floats off towards the lickitung.
snapping her pokedex close, she's confident she knows enough about honedge. "boost yourself with a SWORDS DANCE, then attack with IRON HEAD." her instructions are clear, and understood by ukko. there's a glow to him now as he boosts his attack, soon lunging forward to catch the lickitung off guard. flinching from the impact, lickitung stands no chance to counter as its left to deal with another swift SLASH. it comes close to fainting.
turning to run away, it doesn't even bother trying to attack as it knows it's fighting a lost battle. but ava doesn't relent. "PURSUIT." vanishing, ukko reappears in front of the lickitung and slashes forward, finishing it off. | notes honedge lv 46 (+1) / evolves |

[googlefont=Fira+Sans|Playfair+Display] [attr="class","firedand1"] MY DEAR, WE'RE -- a moment of silence fills the air, lingering as the lickitung falls lifelessly, hitting the ground with a firm thud. ukko's left hovering over it, ecstatic at his first triumph. she's ecstatic, too. with lugh, she had mowed through battles, treating them as unimportant victories. she barely praised lugh. she decides to be different this time, and so she steps forward, keen on giving him praise. but when she takes her first step, ukko starts to glow.
"you're kidding."
she says to herself, confused and surprised at ukko's swift development. his entirety engulfs in white, glowing, shining brighter with every passing second until suddenly, it stops, and from out of the white comes a doublade. his blades reflect the rays of the sun; they look sharp enough to cut through anything. he floats back over to her, still unable to form facial expressions, but now with two eyes.
taking out her pokedex, she lets it scan him as she's unfamiliar with his species. she looks at him; lets her eyes analyze him. its two swords combined into one sheath, so she's left to wonder just how it does battle. luckily for her, she'll get her answer soon as a litwick makes its appearance; a small blue flame flaring at the top of its head.
as much as a fire-type would come in handy, given how ava has a tendency to venture into deep, dark places, she can't afford to waste one of her remaining two safari ball on a litwick. "ukko, are you ready?" he can't nod, so he simply moves into position.
this time his foe isn't caught off guard. the litwick turns, knowing a battle's coming. it lets out a predetermined FLAME BURST that sends a pulse of flames traveling towards them. ukko dodges it, and ava's forced to as well as she takes cover behind a tree. shit. if she's not careful the litwick might burn down the entire safari zone.
she peers out from behind the tree. "take it down before it burns this place down!" already boosted once, ukko decides to do it again. his two swords slide out from his sheath, SWORDS DANCING to power up his attack. he slices forward with both, delivering a powerful PURSUIT that sends the litwick packing. | notes doublade lv 47 (+1) |

[googlefont=Fira+Sans|Playfair+Display] [attr="class","firedand1"] MY DEAR, WE'RE -- ukko is impressive. his movements are fluid and swift. and elegant, as if he's dancing when he battles. he's mesmerizing to watch, ava realizes this as she watches him take down litwick. with such ease, too. he's swift to adapt, and she's glad he's learned to work with her. they make a powerful duo, and they know it.
the blue flame atop litwick flickers as it faints. ukko is victorious again; for a brief moment she wonders if he'll evolve again. but she remembers reading that doublade evolves with dusk stone. she'll be sure to get one. if her hunch is correct, then ukko wouldn't mind his swift transformation. unlike lugh, ukko's progression is natural. he was already stronger than most honedges, all he needed was a little push to get him to evolve. and now, now that he's had a taste of it, she can tell he wants more.
"nice work, ukko."

the corners of her eye notices swift, unpredictable movement coming from the bushes. "careful—" before she can say much else, a SHADOW SNEAK catches ukko off guard. the damage is minimal, but it's enough to send him into a mode of alert as his eyes scan the area for his opponent. then, he sees it: he sees what he once was. "another one?" ava speaks to herself. she shakes her head, but gestures forward with her hand.
"try and have fun."
one movement. slashing forward for a PURSUIT, ukko unsheathes into two again. the honedge immediately realizes its outmatched; the damage almost made it faint. it's outmatched, so it decides to turn and flee. but ava doesn't let it. she throws her second safari ball at the honedge, capturing the replicate. | notes doublade lv 48 |

[googlefont=Fira+Sans|Playfair+Display] [attr="class","firedand1"] MY DEAR, WE'RE -- it's another duplicate. not the honedge, but the lickitung. she rolls her eyes at the sight of it, annoyed that she's not encountering what she wants. what she needs. she lets her annoyance get the better of her as she points at it. "take it down." it's unspoken, but she demands no mercy from ukko. she hopes he understands.
ukko's blades constantly glow from being boosted twice. it's a quick battle and she knows it. ukko isn't outmatched; she wonders if he'll ever be. he seems too confident to be. ukko, maybe wanting more of a challenge, allows the lickitung to make the first move. the normal-type swings its tongue back and forth before snapping it forward. its saliva coats ukko's sheath as it LICKs. its disgusting and sloppy; two features ava hates.
no mercy.
SLASHing with both blades, ukko closes the distance and doesn't relent, not even when the lickitung cries out in pain. it tries for another LICK and connects; its tongue curling around one of ukko's blades. its decision to WRAP itself only comes back around to bite. to haunt. ukko rams his IRON HEAD into the body of the lickitung, causing it to stutter and fumble forward onto the ground. as it looks up, it tries to run, like every other encounter they had. ava shakes her head.
"PURSUIT."
the lickitung drops to the ground. not a single beat was missed during that battle. she's proud of the doublade, and it shows with the grin on her face. "you're strong. don't ever let anyone question that." she walks over to the safari ball she had thrown earlier to capture the honedge and picks it up. she doesn't bother to dust the dirt off as she knows she's going to get rid of it as soon as possible. she doesn't need two of them.

[googlefont=Fira+Sans|Playfair+Display] [attr="class","firedand1"] MY DEAR, WE'RE -- their dominance is evident by the trail of fallen pokemon they leave behind. they confront every challenge they face, never once even thinking about running or passing. it's a question of standards, and ava has high ones for herself that she upholds. she never backs down from a fight. she'll never run. she expects the same from her team.
sniff. she smells fire; she immediately turns to where she thinks the source is and finds it in the form of an archen. its jaws are open, blue flames tickling as they form. "behind you!" she says too late. ukko turns only to be hit by an oncoming DRAGON BREATH; blue flames scorching. the attack does more than he expects but once it's over, he wants revenge.
ukko looks over to ava first, as if asking for her permission. she understands his request and nods, stepping back from the battle to allow ukko to do his thing. the doublade flies up, scaling the side of the tree as it reaches the branch the archen's perched on. ukko rams into the branch with an IRON HEAD, snapping it into two as he passes right through to hit the archen. it squawks in pain, retaliating with an immediate DRAGON BREATH.
the flames leak through, bouncing off ukko to engulf the tree in flames. ava's eyes widen at the sight of it, afraid of the damages she might have to pay for. luckily for her, ukko ends the battle with another IRON HEAD. the archen plummets to the ground but much to their surprise, it doesn't faint. it crawls along the ground as it tries to flap its wings.
she admires its spirit. like her, it doesn't give up. even in the face of defeat it chooses to fight. the archen glares up at ukko, who floats down almost eerily. it squawks and attempts to snap its jaws forward, but its injuries doesn't allow it to. it has spirit, and so she tosses her last safari ball to capture it. | notes doublade lv 53 |
