first, a munna, who appears from out behind the waterfall, gracefully floating out to greet her. its CALM MIND surrounds them with an air of tranquility. she appreciates it, but also regrets that she has to disrupt it so soon. she pouts at the psychic-type and pulls out a pokeball.

"sorry, cutie."

an apology is more than it deserves. a push of a button calls out her rattata that hails all the way from alola. its mustache waves in the passing wind, bouncing up and down before subsiding like the wind. "pest, you have an opponent today." pest shakes his head in an attempt to wake himself up. his ears perk and his head twists to see the munna floating next to him. he can't contain his excitement and immediately lunges out for a SUPER FANG. his teeth sinks into munna's flesh, causing it to squeal in pain as it tries its best to squirm out.

but pest doesn't let it. with his SUPER FANGs still in the body of the munna, he releases for a moment only to clamp back down for a SUPER FANG. its squeals are silenced when pest slams it into the ground for a DOUBLE-EDGE. the impact causes the grass to falter under the pressure, grinding against the dirt as it combines into a dirty mess.

ava's surprised at pest's abilities, though she shouldn't be. all of these safari pokemon are on steroids; their battling abilities are phenomenal. it's no wonder why the safari zone is always so crowded.

a final ASSURANCE seals the deal, putting the munna out of its misery as it sinks to the ground like a deflated balloon. and just like she suspects, pest's entire body starts to glow white.

he's evolving.

out from the white glow comes alolan raticate; dark fur, hella puffy cheeks. she laughs at it.

ava isn't a psychopath, but her lack of sympathy can be alarming to some. even as the munna sinks to the ground like a deflated balloon, she feels nothing for it. even as her alolan rattata evolves into something bigger and more powerful, she feels nothing for it. lack of sympathy, lack of empathy, she cares for none of it.

"good job." but she doesn't mean it. she kneels down to examine the now-raticate, gesturing for pest to come closer. his sharp claws dig into the ground as he props his arms forward to move closer. she grabs it by the fat of his cheek and tugs him closer. he squirms but she persists. "stop." her words freezes him.

pest's cheeks are filled with fat. that's the first thing she notices. his cheeks are also so large that they restrict his ability to fully close his mouth, resulting with permanent buck teeth. but his claws are sharp, deadly, and so are his feet. his tail hangs low and stretches across the ground.

"you're fat."

with a chuckle, she turns her head to the east, after hearing ruffling of the bushes. how cliche of a pokemon spawn. a lillipup appears, wagging its tail out of excitement. its tongue hangs out of its mouth and there's a slight tilt to its head. how cute, she thinks. she isn't going to battle it, but she is going to capture it.

retrieving a safari ball, she holds it in her hand as she points at the pup. "pest, go o—" she holds her tongue when she sees smoke start to rise off the lillipup's fur. "what." next thing she knows, the pup zooms across at unnatural speeds right into alolan raticate; a GIGA IMPACT sends pest flying, but quick movements by ava allows her to recall him before he smacks into the ground and dies.

when the lillipup recovers, he tosses a safari ball onto it, capturing it.
