After taking a nice walk in Kikyo city, Zeref and his partner Parsifal decided to take a nice stroll into the Ruins of Alph. In all honesty he always wanted to explore these so called ruins despite sucking at solving puzzles back when he was a kid. Either way he’s finally at that age to explore these strange ruins with his own Pokemon but if only that were true. He had to keep his partner in crime in his arms to prevent it from running off and getting itself into trouble. That seems to be a common thing his Pokemon enjoys doing and since ruins tends to be rather dangerous and you can easily get lost in here, he refuses to allow his Pokemon out of reach! In reality he could’ve always kept the Growlithe in its pokeball but Zeref wanted the little creature to explore these ruins with him. The only way to kill two birds with one stone is to have this little guy resting in his arms. Thankfully the pup wasn’t budging too much but Zeref knows darn well once it spots something it’ll run off leaving poor Zeref behind.

“These ruins are quite interesting huh buddy? I wonder what these words mean.” Zeref would say to his pale as he made his way down the hall. “If only I can read this stuff heck no wonder scientist love coming here. I would write some stuff down to study later but knowing you Parsifal you would take this opportunity to run away. It looks like I’ll have to come back here another time. Anyways let’s keep going. Hopefully it won’t get too dark down here. At least we have your ember to use as a flashlight!” Zeref giggled at that part before looking down the hall gulping underneath his breath. He’s not scared of the dark right?

Puzzles were always something Chelsea despised growing up. To her, they're useless and unnecessary, forcing people to go through more shit than what should be required. Straightforward questions - that's what she prefers. So, given all of that, most people would assume she would stray as far as possible from the ruins, right? Wrong! The ruins, while shabby and confusing, was the perfect place for her to train with Humps. Unlike the various routes surrounding the city, the ruins are considerably quiet and dark, allowing even her shy Pokemon to remain calm and collected throughout battles. Once entering the ruin, Chelsea trudged carefully, tracing the .thousands and thousands of foreign letters were etched onto the walls lightly with her fingertips. At first the dim lighting of the ruins provided a nice atmosphere for the occasion, but as she went deeper and deeper into the cavernous ruin, all feeling of bravery had withered away.

"Ooookay Humps, why don't you come out." The blonde reached into her bag, grabbed a pokeball, and released her starter in a swift manner. At first the Pokemon was confused, unsure of how to react to it's odd surroundings. Then, after looking up at his trainer, his demeanor change to that of understanding. Just seeing her precious partner out and about was enough to ease her building levels of fears, making them almost nonexistent.

As the pair continued to explore their mysterious surroundings, a muffled sound began to grow more and more apparent. Who was that? Another trainer? As they inched closer, the voice got louder and louder, eventually becoming a little too familiar to Chelsea. She opened her mouth for a second, then closed it, debating on what she should do. So, like any rational person, she stood there for a few seconds, gnawing over the different options in her head. Of course, at the end of it all, she decided to go with the classic option: operation scare the shit outta him. Chelsea gingerly crept towards the sound of his voice, making sure neither her or Humps made any sudden noises that would alert her prey. Then, once she was nearly two feet away from him, she let out a horrific scream.

Everything seems to be going according to plan so Zeref thought. He was enjoying his time down the ruins and using this technique to help his Growlithe with his training to become an amazing bodyguard like his father! Although this little guy hates to admit it but he’s actually scared of the dark despite being a fire type Pokemon. Zeref would try so hard not to giggle at this scene since he knows darn well he would beat people up if they found out he’s actually scared of Spinda. It’s not his fault really even if he encountered one during his training awhile back. He’d rather not talk about those days. It’s rather embarrassing really.

His thought pattern was interrupted when his Growlithe’s tail popped up causing Zeref to stop in his tracks. When the two of them turned around to see what was behind him that was when they heard the horrific scream! Zeref tilted his head at this sight while Parsifal on the other hand let out a high pitch yelp! It jumped out of Zeref’s arms and ran as fast as it could but only to get stopped by a Mime Jr.

Meanwhile Zeref waved his hand after realizing who she was. “Oh Chelsea hey what are you doing here?” His words were cut off when Parsifal let out another high pitch yelp causing the male to turn around to see what was going on. “Shit we’ll have to handle the introduction part later. I’ll take care of Mime Jr. and you take on Girafarig! Parsifal let’s do this use ember on Mime Jr. and look out for its double slap!”

Wait it was about to use double slap? Parsifal turned around but only to get bitched slapped on the face by Mime Jr. double slap! Zeref twitched his eyes at this realizing this result and he knows darn well his Growlithe is going to have a hissy fit over it! It jumped to its paws, rushed over to use ember right on it’s face! The Pokemon got hit and fallen backwards however that wasn’t going to stop it there! It jumped back on its feet and twirled around, reminding Zeref about that crazy Pokemon Spinda. “Stay focus self okay Parsifal your doing great try using bite!”

Parsifal was ready to bite the shit out of this thing but only to get hit by confusion! “Parsifal are you okay? Man this thing is a little trickier than I’ve expected. It’s just like Spinda it moves around too much… wait oh Parsifal think of it like a Butterfree!” That caught his Growlithe’s attention instantly! Parsifal loves chasing those things and since this thing hops and moves around just like one this should be a piece of cake! With that being said, Parsifal chased after the mime and right when it tried to use confusion the dog would jump into the air and use ember on it once more! The psychic type twirled around in circles but to Parsifal this little guy thins it’s playing with him! Parsifal wagged its tail to join in on the fun but once it got close enough it used bite and this time it knocked out for sure!

“Good job partner!” Zeref opened his arms for Parsifal to tackle him to the ground but nothing happened. That was when the trainer opened his eyes and knew exactly what his buddy was planning on doing! With that being said, Zeref snatched his partner up before he had the chance to escape! “Not this time buddy but good job partner! Hey how are you two doing over there? Do you need help?’

While watching the little shit scamper down the throat of the ruin was rewarding as all hell, it was disappointing to see that Zeref wasn't as effected. Was he immune to her childish schemes? No, that wasn't possible. The ranger wasn't even aware of her presence before she released that banshee screech, so unless he somehow heard her or humps step on something... These thoughts were abruptly curtailed by the sudden echo of growlithe's yelp, followed by Zeref's immediate spring to action. It took only a few extra seconds for her to follow his footsteps, rushing towards the attacking Gireafarig. "Hey Humps, let's show them what we got," She cheered, pointing straight at her opponent, "Now hit 'em with a good ol flamethrower."

The Numel sprung alive, waddling close behind it's trainer up until they reached their opponent. While he knew exactly what Chelsea wanted from him, he couldn't help but freeze up under the pressure of being surrounded by another trainer and two other pokemon. During this time of confusion, the Girafarig charged towards him, striking him with a fierce stomp. The sudden impact of it's hooves flung him back a few inches, leaving him wounded both emotionally and physically. "Aw, don't let that stinky Girafarig hurt you like that! Remember what we practiced!" Her pleads ricocheted off the walls, eventually piercing through Humps' thick layers of fear, making him stop and asset the situation once more. Then, after taking a deep breath, the Numel charged forward, released a weak stream of flames from his lips. The fire, while still weak, glowed within the dark hallway, illuminating the space around them completely. It even managed to damage the Girafarig quite a bit, causing it step back and shake it's head a little.

"She's going to try to hit you with some sort of comeback," Chelsea warned her partner, "Get ready to dodge it, then twirl around and use flamethrower once more!" Then, during the moment of confusion, he released another stream of scarletflames, completely burning the Girafarig up. As a result of his relentless attacks, the Pokemon fell forward, completely knocking out.

It never came to his mind how coordinators are able to pull off flashy stunts like that! It’s what makes the contests so interesting and inspiring for young trainers heck even now it makes him wonder if he can pull that stuff off during his missions or on his ranger like duties. Zeref would look down at his partner wondering if he could do something similar with its ember attack. The little guy has the dancing style breaking down but what about the flashy aspects of it? All he could imagine was his buddy being too distracted on stage. He would chase his tail and chase anything he sees. His Growlithe can be useless at times.

The pokemon turned around to face Chelsea, beaming with joy. He had finally done it! Despite the waves of anxiety he felt towards performing in front of others, the small Numel was able to retain his composure and successfully defeat his opponent, all while looking spectacular. Today was certainly an excellent day for training. "Good job, Humps," She called out gleefully, "You did great!" Upon hearing this, a light hue of red was smeared across the Pokemon's cheeks. It's kinda funny to think about how embarrassed he gets whenever Chelsea praises him like that. One time, while battling Cyrus, the bashful Numel nearly squeaked with joy when they won! It was incredibly adorable to witness! Sometimes, when the two of them are resting side by side, she would often try to imagine how he would look after winning a contest? Would he squeak? Blush, maybe? Just picturing him, standing before a sea of audience members, smiling with pride is always enough to met her heart. They'll get there soon.

If Arceus were to command her to tell the truth, and to be blunt about it, she would've admitted that she purposely made it sound like she was asking him out. It's not like she was even remotely interested in the guy, or anything like that. In fact, she could easily use him to describe what's NOT her type. No offense. Truth be told, she just wanted to elicit a reaction from him. If their meeting had told her anything it was that he isn't the most experienced guy out there. Scrunching her nose, Chelsea tried her best not to cringe at him questioning fate itself. It was probably the lamest thing she had heard in a looooong time. "Maybe I'm just stalking you? That’s it all he has to do is cook for her? He’s not that bad a cooking it’s just the cooking part is the actual problem. From what he discovered, he nails the seasoning part perfectly but the actual process of placing it in the oven and shit like that is very difficult for him. The main question is how long should he keep it in the oven? The answer would be ‘it’ll look ready’ or something around that nature. That simple phrase makes it difficult for his brain to follow. In his thoughts he is thinking How would I know if it’s ready? none of it makes any sense.

Zeref placed his hand on his chin as he thought about this very carefully wondering how he can explain his cooking problem to her. “I’ll try I’m really good with seasoning but after that I suck at it. I’ll see what I can do.” It looks like his chitchat is will have to come to an end since another pair of wild Pokemon appeared out of nowhere! Zeref puffed his long orange bang away from his face wishing these wild Pokemon would give it a rest already however something seemed to have sparked his interesting. All you could hear was a loud gasping sound coming from his mouth after realizing what it was. “Is that a Ralts? I always wanted a Gallade this is great!” Parsifal growled underneath its breath. “Or maybe I should give it to the coordinator. I feel it’s a perfect match for you! Take it take the Ralts!” He felt his heartbreak but he knows darn well it was meant to be! It was in his gut feeling to let her take the Ralts. “I guess I’ll take on the Wynaut because Wynaut? Okay Parsifal let it rip!”

Parsifal rolled its eyes at his drama queen trainer and his annoying puns but whatever. It looks like he’ll get to take on an easy one so he hopes. Jumping on its paws the pup paced around the strange looking Pokemon but something interesting kicked in causing the Growlithe to stare in confusion. Every time he would lift up his paw the wild Pokemon would say ‘why’ and when he laid his paw onto the ground it would say ‘naut’. Parisfal noticed this instantly and would smirk at this sight and man it just continues to get worse after this! Parsifal would go back and forth with its paw while the Wynaut continued to follow its movements. It was as if Parsifal was making music with the wild Pokemon!

“What the hell?” Zeref said as he watched Parsifal dance around the psychic type Pokemon while making music along the way. “What in the world is happening?” The Ranger questioned once more as he watched Parsifal break dance in front of him. The dog tried to do the fucking moon walk to go with Wynaut’s tune and would jump on top of it’s head and spin around in circles like a hitmontop. “Maybe I should give up my Ranger status to become a street dancer.” He joked. After a little dancing party, the wild Pokemon walked away waving its little arms saying goodbye to the Growlithe. Growlithe lifted up its paw to wave goodbye back before making its way back to his trainer. He would jump into his trainer’s arms and wag its tail as if the Pokemon was waiting for a compliment. “You amaze me every fucking day. Good job with the dancing skills I guess you convinced the guy not to attack you. How is it going Chelsea? You should pick up some tips from my Growlithe here.”

Was he serious, she questioned, inspecting his facial expressions carefully. Did he not understand what she was alluding to? It should’ve been obvious to anyone with a brain, but from the way he replied, it didn’t appear as though anything had effected him. “What a dumbass...” she breathed out, shaking her head lightly, smiling at the thought of his oblivious nature. It didn’t take long for this train of thoughts to halt, transferring it’s focus onto the duo of Pokémon that had just been spawned from the darkness around them. Unlike her partner, the Ralts stood with an immensely thick aura of confidence, resembling a challenged gym leader. “You sure?” Her voice quivered with excited - catching a Ralts had definitely been on her to do list for longer than she could admit. Her mother, during her prime years of being a coordinator, had the most elegant gardevoir as her partner. Maybe this was meant to be? “Alright, if you say so!”

Without even asking, Humps had positioned himself in front of his trainer, ready to try again. This was it. He was going to make the largest flame possible! “Watch out!” Before her warning could reach his ears, the Numel was met with a ray of vibrant purple and pink rings. The ray pierced his skin, causing a pinch of pain to ripple throughout his body. It wasn’t anything to cry about, but damn did it hurt! “It’s okay, Humps! Turn this fight around and hit her with a yawn!” This command had lit the wicks within his pupils, striking a blazing flame of excitement within him. Humps fixated his eye of sight back on the Ralts, glaring fiercely at its smug expression. His lips followed suit, separating and creating a large O. From this a huff of sound echoed out, slowly swaying towards his opponent, who managed to dodge with giant leap. From there, up in the air, she released another ray of beams at him. Unlike before, however, Humps had slid forward, positioning himself right below her body before the beam could even touch him. Then, with a wicked smile playing on his lips, the Numel released a flurry of flames into the air, directly hitting the Pokémon.

Tumbling down, the Ralts landed on the ground with a soft thud, remaining as confident as ever. The skinny flame had managed to mark her pretty face, but not by too much. "Nice one!" His trainer rejoiced, amazed by the flashy sequence of events she had just witnessed. He was improving beautifully. To their dismay, the praise didn't last too long, because before she could say another word, the Ralts' silhouette began to stretch left and right, multiplying into a trio of copies. Each copy began to run around the Numel, surrounding him, laughing menacingly. This left Humps' mind a dizzy mesh of swirls. Without knowing what to do, he is laughed at from all sides, forced to hear her high pitch laugh. "Hey, calm down! It's just confusing you! Just use flamethrower while spinning, and you'll get her along with her copies." Hearing this brought the pokemon back to his senses, and it only took a second for him to follow the command without a fail. Similar to before, his mouth formed an O, allowing another stream of fire to flow out, burring up each copy as he spun around, creating a ring of fire.

"Okay, back off now." By now the Ralts had appeared to be weak, almost ready to faint. The flamethrower had left it leaning back and forward, barely able to keep it's balance. Chelsea fished her hand into her bag, rummaging around for one of her Poke Balls, which she had recently bought at the store. Once her hand made contact with it's cool surface, the coordinator reeled it out, ready to take her try at capturing the Pokemon. "C'mon..." She whispered, chucking the ball at the stray Ralts, hoping it'll be enough.

Zeref would say while slowly lifting up his hand to gives thumbs up to his comrades however deep down inside he was feeling pain and guilt for not catching that Ralts. It wasn’t meant to be and he knows darn well he’ll find another chance in catching that Pokemon. One of these days he’ll use that opportunity evolves into a Gallade and shows it off to his childhood friend. With that running through his mind, Zeref managed to place a smile on his face.

“Yes next time I see a Ralts I’m going to catch it and I hope it turns into a Gallade! I’m so pumped up now!” And right after fate decides to fuck with him, it looks like the gods has changed his mind! “A Misdreavus perfect! Having a ghost type on my team will defiantly help me out!” The young adult turned his head to his Pokemon while giving a slow nod. “Are you up for a new partner buddy?”

Just like its trainer it seems as if Parsifal was pumped up for another battle as well. After a quick warm up against that Wynaut it looks like its time to put its skills to the test! “Alright buddy I know what your thinking about doing but let’s give it a warm up first! Let’s use ember!”

As much as Parsifal would love to use bite, he does like the idea of using ember! With that being said the dog would bounce itself around the ghost type Pokemon as if it still had the ‘Wynaut’ tune playing in it’s head! He would jump up and use ember right on the Pokemon! The ghost type would shake its head and try to use psywave while Parsifal was in mid air! With no time to move, Parsifall fell to the ground and right when he tried to get up Misdreavus used Confuse Ray. “Oh shit this isn’t good.” Zeref said while scratching his cheek as he watch his Pokemon spin around in circles due to confusion.

“Parsifal snap out of it try buddy try to use Ember!” Instead of hitting the giggling Misdreavus it hit itself instead and this time it gave him a power boost. “Oh I guess that’s useful.” Zeref sighed however once he lifted up his head there was a ghost type Pokemon floating right in front of him wait a minute! Zeref ran around in circles as the Misdreavus playfully chased after him. “FUCKKKKKKKKKKK PARSIFAL ARE YOU BACK TO NORMAL YET?” When he turned his head he screamed once more after realizing the results. “PARSIFAL DON’T DO THIS TO ME!”

Although this looked rather bad for Zeref, the reason why the ghost type was chasing him was because of its long orange bang! It looked like fun and it wants to play with it! “PARSIFAL IT’S GOING TO EAT ME ALIVE OH WAIT!” Zeref pointed his finger at his partner who was still in a daze and hitting itself with ember. “That’s right there’s a Butterfree nearby!” Did Zeref say there’s a Butterfree nearby? This sure caught Parsifal’s attention despite being confused as fuck however if what Zeref saying is true then he gotta catch it! One day he shall catch the Butterfree! Shaking its ass, the dog launched itself into the air not knowing exactly where it’s going! That was when Zeref stopped in it’s tracks with the ghost type stopping right behind him after realizing where the pupper was landing. “Oh shit ahhhhhhhhh!”

Zeref moaned underneath his breath as he slowly lifted up one eye to see his Growlithe sitting on his stomach. Parsifal’s tail was wagging and its tongue was sticking out and from the looks of it the confusion ray seemed to have disappeared that’s interesting. On the other hand it looks like Parsifal seemed a little disappointed at the fact he ended up catching his trainer instead of the Butterfree how annoying. “Sorry buddy I had to use that trick to snap you out of it. Speaking of which where did the Pokemon go?” The trainer looked down but only to see a knocked out Misdreavus underneath him. He quickly jumped up after realizing this. “Oh shit sorry buddy ah man it’s knocked out cold. Um I better catch it while I can right?” Well this is embarrassing did he end up winning the battle wait does that mean he levels up?

“ZEREF LEVELED UP!” Zeref would say while his Growltihe narrowed its eyes at this depressing sight. “Okay I know that was lame. I’ll go ahead and catch it. Time to take this little guy to the Pokemon Center” The trainer sighed as he threw his Pokeball at the ghost type Pokemon.

After the poke ball left her finger tips Chelsea couldn’t help but stand there, unable to breath, staring straight at the Pokémon. She watched it shake once, then twice, then three times. Click. “Alright!” She cheered, pumping her fists into the hair, enthusiasm coursing through her veins. Now, what should she name her? Radish? Yano? Ah geez, this was definitely not her area of expertise. Humps was probably the most creative name she had ever concocted, and this would most likely fail in surpassing that. The blonde gnawed on this for a bit, pacing back and forth sporadically, paying no mind to Zeref's battle. This was more important. "How about..." Her voice drifted off, vanishing completely for a second or two, only to reappear with the addition of a drip of excitement. "...Yanny? Yeah, that sounds good." It wasn't special, or beautiful, or anything to gawk over, but it was enough, and that's all that mattered to her at that moment.

She swooped down and snatched up the poke ball in a swift manner, placing it safely in her bag. That little girl was going to need a trip to the Pokemon Center before anything else. It was then she realized that she was, in fact, merely inches away from another pokemon encounter involving Zeref and his little cockblocker. The tips of her lips curled upwards as she stood there in silence, watching her companion get utterly destroyed by some wild misdreavus. What a lame way to go out, she thought with a chuckle, watching as Parsifal burn itself for the second time that fight. It was a fun battle to watch.
