Raven tumbled, trying to push her way through the thick brush her pokemon ran into. She could hear Vix chasing after... whatever it was. "Vix wait!" she called out, receiving a yip in response. The rustling, however, didn't stop and could tell that stubborn little vixen had not obeyed her. With rumors of Team Virus spreading in the region and violent pokemon possibly running rampant in this secluded area, she couldn't help but feel worried for her partner.

Following the noise they made, she eventually found herself in a clearing. The Vulpix had been chasing a Magnemite, and fortunately, she didn't seem harmed. "Vulpix not now." she said, realizing the situation. The wild pokemon didn't look happy about them being in its territory, and Vix didn't seem to notice this. Small lights sparked around the Magnemite and she immediately dipped to take Vix in her arms and ran. "Live to see another day!" she exclaimed, laughing to herself as she ran back into the woods.

She heard the crackle of electricity behind her as they fled further away from the area. She was fortunate to have noticed it before they both got themselves into more trouble. Once she felt they were a safe distance away, she sat down and leaned against a tree, catching her breath. "Vix, no more running off without me please?" she asked as she pet its head, seeing the guilty look on its face. Moments later, the pokemon's ears perked up, quickly tugging on her jacket urging her to follow. Vix led her through vines and what came after was truly a sigh to behold.

In front of her were the majestic waterfalls the townsfolk told her about. The water cascaded down from the pool above it, rushing with a thunderous roar that filled the whole route. A smile found its was on her lips as she watched nature's force right in front of her.

She was awestruck. From the numerous other cliffs before her to the twin waterfalls that carved their path through the mountain, she could stay here the whole day just taking in the scenery laid before her. She watched as the people on the bridges below enjoyed themselves. Pictures were taken from different angles; the impassable stream drowned out the excited chatter of tourist and locals alike. Pokemon moved in glee and excitement around the majestic site. Though it wasn't intentional, Raven was glad she got herself the best spot to watch the waterfalls from—the top of this cliff she climbed.

It was times like this that made her leaving home worth it. She saw things she'd never see from home and above all, she had fun. She stroked Vix under her chin as she lay on her lap. Her parents wouldn't be too happy about her doing such dangerous things and being on top of this cliff. Neither would they be happy about her doing random gigs to earn more money. In fact, they don't like her being a ranger at all. It took a lot of process and the help of her aunt for her to be 'free'. Looking around, she knew, all that hard work was worth it after all.

The moment was cut when she heard a cry from behind coming towards her, not that of pain but of anger. "It's not the magnemite but we sure aren't sticking around to find out, Vix." she said as she took her in her arms again and ran off. She didn't come here to fight. She came here to sight see but she figured she asked for this the moment she decided to take a detour from the trail. "Can't a girl just have some peace?!" she exclaimed, running into the woods again.

Unlucky—that's what she had been the whole day. She thought this last day was the day she could relax, the highlight of her vacation while she was on leave from ranger duties. After the fisherman's request she had to do in Kogane City extended longer than it should have, headquarters allowed her to take few days rest before they gave her her next job. Today was the last day of that rest, and she wanted it to be worry-free, then she'd have to report to her superiors tomorrow. It was supposed to be when all her problems would be gone for a moment as she enjoyed herself with the falls and her vulpix. Instead, here she was running here and there from pokemon who weren't happy about her trespassing. [break][break]

As the cries grew further, her pace slowed until finally, she could take a breather. She slumped onto the ground, panting heavily. The adrenaline had rushed through her veins and now that the thrill died down, she felt the unpleasant receding of her energy. She always hated that part. "I'm done Vix. I want to go back now." she said in between breaths. She sprawled on the ground, looking at the canopy above her. Perhaps it wasn't that bad. She did manage to see a grandiose scene. [break][break]

The thought quickly diminished when Vix growled, tails unfurled and puffed. She propped herself up, seeing that another wild pokemon had found them. She gave a heavy sigh. "You wanna run ahead?" She turned to her partner. She was too tired right now for another sprint but the other didn't seem to want to leave either. "I guess we have no choice but to fight." she said with a smile. The nosepass had readied itself for an attack, but Vix thought quick, hitting it to the side before it could strike first. "Nice!" she exclaimed, thought the enemy seemed unfazed. "Tch, your armor may be tough, but we'll burn and hit before you can strike." Vix quickly returned to her side, awaiting for the next move. Nosepass' blue plates gleamed, hardening itself. He seemed to release a huff, seemingly glaring at them through his closed eyes. Raven assessed the situation. High defense versus speed, which way should she go? The more it hardens, the less damage they'll do. [break][break]



"Vix, let's burn him up. We'll break through that armor by force!" she said, her gestures quickly followed by a small burst of ember. It wasn't enough, barely effective on its rock skin. He hardened himself once again, standing proudly and stubbornly. She racked her brain for ideas, and it quickly snapped in front of her. A stubborn pokemon, there as only one way to break it. "To the left Vix!" she exclaimed, "Where you hit him earlier." And with another quick attack, he took another hit. It barely moved, bellowing as if to mock their attempts. He returned fire, tackling Vix down to the ground. She quickly caught herself on her feet before dashing for another quick attack. [break][break]



The nosepass seemed fazed from the attack, realizing their plan. He tackled vulpix again, leaving her staggering back. "Just a bit more, we can do this." It took another hit for from the fox to break his defense, leaving him in surprise. He quickly used harden to set its defense up once again, but Raven had him. "There, burn 'im Vix!" she said in triumph of her plan, successfully burning the wild pokemon. Fueled with anger, nosepass threw itself towards vulpix, hitting her right on her head. She took a tumble, body falling heavily on the ground. [break][break]



"Vix...?" she uttered, surprised, seeing the her partner's immobile body. She took her in her arms, sprinting away from the area. "You did great. I'm sorry, I was overconfident. I'll treat you with candy later okay?" she whispered.
