Brows rose in surprise as the stranger revealed itself to be an all too familiar face. Alec Von Klaussner, the youngest son of the Kogane Klaussners. In his years as an officer Frederick had always kept a close eye on this family and their activites, including the sons. When it came to a family that rich and powerful someone had to be the one to make sure they didn't get too far out of line, and he was one of the only officers who wasn't afraid to piss them off. Unfortunately things were different now, as he didn't have the department's backing should things go wrong. But at least he was lucky enough to come across the less irritating of the two.

Alec may have been a troublemaker in his own right, but at least he didn't have his brother's record. It made it much easier to offer the young man a friendly wave and a smile as they drew closer. "Hello to you as well." It seemed like the moment greetings had been exchanged the bubbly blonde immediately turned to doting on his pokemon. Frederick simply watched with an amused smile as his teammates stared up at the strange trainer. Tiny's nostrils flared as he let out an irritated snort, eyes narrowing slightly as he looked off toward the beach. Wooly on the other hand was all too pleased to receive the attention, his tail starting to wag from side to side as he proudly poofed out his wool.

The ranger let out an amused laugh as Alec gave his compliments in a 'matter of fact' manner, his head bowing slightly in response. "Please, my friend. Your praise is too much. I am but a humble Ranger, nothing more." He certainly didn't expect to be showered with praise when he first approached the young man. Though the compliments weren't unwelcome, as the ranger did take a certain measure of pride in his appearance. Though he wouldn't want people to realize how much effort he put into maintaining it. It would be easy to assume he was far more vain than he truly was.

A single finger rose to wag at the trainer, his expression growing a bit more amused as his shoulder shook in a silent chuckle. "Yes, I recognized you the moment I saw you. I'm very familiar with you and your family's exploits." He rose a hand to rest over his chest as he bent slightly at the waist to offer a courteous bow. "Frederick Ferdinand, a pleasure. And these are-"

Introductions were cut short as Tiny suddenly let out a sharp NI, his pins starting to bristle as he stared out at the ocean. "It seems introductions will have to wait. Ready yourself." As he spoke two pokemon emerged from the water's edge. One a frustrated psyduck who looked like he was looking for something to distract him from a splitting headache. The other was a tentacool who thought the trainer's pokemon would make for some easy prey. "Stand down Tiny. This is Wooly's day." The nidorino let out an irritated grunt as he slowly stepped away from the water's edge, his eyes never leaving the attacking pokemon.

"Thundershock. Aim for the tentacool." Wooly cheerfully pranced forward, proud eyes locking on to the tentacled pokemon. The electric pokemon could easily tell that this poor jellyfish would be no match for his combat abilities. Electricity started to crackle through his wool, a sight that caused the tentacool's eyes to go wide. It seemed he didn't realize what type of pokemon he had decided to assault just now. With a cheerful cry Wooly arced the electricity built up in his wool toward his opponent, landing a clean thundershock.

The tentacool winced as the electricity traveled through it's body, the charge easily travelling though it's watery form. Yet it seemed this one was more durable than expected, which would account for it's boldness in attacking a pokemon on dry land. Hovering forward the tentacool would lash out with it's poisonous tentacles, slapping them against the mareep while the tiny spines along it's lengths delivered a poison sting. Mareep cried out at the unexpected pain, his eyes narrowing at the still standing creature. How could it have possibly survived it's attack? Electricity crackled as it's wool built up another charge, the pokemon's readiness to strike back bringing a smile to his trainer's face. "Go ahead."

The moment permission was given the mareep would direct another shock to the weakened pokemon, this one much more intense than the last. It seemed to be more than enough to finish the job, as the tentacool would immediately collapse in the sand. "Easy enough." Frederick looked to tiny, giving him a quick nod toward the unconscious pokemon. Understanding the nature of the gesture, Tiny would make his way over to the injured pokemon and start rolling him back into the ocean with his snout. A pokemon like that was sure to dry out if left on the shore in such a state. As the mess was being cleaned up Frederick would turn his attention to Alec and his skitty, curious of how they were faring against the agitated duck.

By the time Frederick looked over to Alec he shirtless and landing a decisive double edge against a kabuto. He wasn't quite sure what happened while he was occupied with his battle, but it seemed like he missed quite a bit. It wasn't much of a surprise that he would want to capture such a rare creature. In fact if he knew it was there he might have gone ahead and captured it himself instead of wasting time on that qwilfish. But Wooly needed the experience so he wasn't going to be too upset about it.

Yellow eyes met Alec's gaze as the rangers was questioned, the young man's enthusiasm for the life of a ranger coming as a bit of a surprise. Was he interested in pursing that path, perhaps? Why would someone like him be interested in the field? "All of those things are my responsibility. I protect pokemon from people and vice versa whenever the situation calls for it. Though mostly I just keep my eyes open for suspicious activity until I receive orders from headquarters." Unfortunately he didn't have too many stories to share yet. Johto was a big region, and it wasn't exactly teeming with criminal activity. It wasn't like protecting a city that was full of people where there would always be work that needed done.

Before he could continue his thought it seemed that another creature was emerging from the sea, one that was significantly more powerful than the rest. Tiny bristled as he stared at the luvdisc, who had a surprisingly vicious look in her eye. "Calm down Tiny. Wooly can handle this." The mareep puffed up with pride as he heard these words, tail standing erect as he stared at the approaching pokemon. "Thundershock."

Electricity crackled yet again in the creature's fleece, the energy then arcing into the floating pink pokemon. It cried out in pain as the thundershock traveled through it's body, yet it continued to move forward. This one was even more powerful than they expected, likely even stronger than the previous two encounters combined. "Don't drop your guard Wooly. This is serious." Suddenly the luvdisc charged forward, ramming headfirst into the mareep. He let out a grunt at the surprising force of the impact. With a huff of frustration Wooly readied himself for another thundershock, only for his trainer to announce another plan. "Charge."

As much as he wanted to lash out at his attacker the fluffy pokemon complied, focusing all his effort on building up the electrical charge in his wool. In the mean time the luvdisc would float backwards, spitting out a water pulse as she put distance between them. Wooly absorbed the attack, though the pulsating stream of water had enough force to push him back a ways. "Now! Thundershock with everything you've got!" There was a new intensity in the trainer's usually relaxed voice as he gave this order, eyes narrowing as he focused on the battle at hand.

All of the power building up within the sheep's fleece was suddenly unleashed in a surprising show of force. A large bolt of electrical energy jumped from his body to his opponent's, the power of the attack surprising the luvdisc. As much as it fought to hold on she simply couldn't do it, barely making it to the water before collapsing and being taken in by the waves. The ranger's features relaxed as he squatted down, beckoning the mareep closer. "Very well done. I would say you've earned your rest for the day."

Attention then turned to Alec, who he would offer a calm smile. "What do you say? I think all of us deserve a break after all that. You sounded like you were going to have a heart attack." He laughed softly as he spoke, a playful teasing quality entering his voice. Hands buried themselves in his victorious pokemon's fur, his eyes still locked on to Alec as he spoke. "I've been out of Kogane for a while now. I'm curious to hear how things have been for you and your family."
