To say that Thomas was nervous would be a huge understatement. This would be his first time leaving his hometown... His attempt at facing the large world in front of him... And yet that only made his smile at the thought of it all the more genuine. This was his equivalent of Cameron Kasey stepping out of Littleville, or of Mark Morgan being bitten by the radioactive Spinarak, and all the other stories that had kept him going. And the shifting of the weight on his head reminded Thomas that unlike those stories he wasn't alone. "What do you think Teddy? Ready to step into the unknown?"
He would only assume that she was answering yes with way her weight shook his hair. As the two began their way through the rather short route they couldn't help but begin to hum among themselves. Eventually humming became singing. Singing became dancing and they lost themselves in what was one of their most practiced routines. Thomas would spin, Teddy would then run towards him and the green haired male would stop in order to throw the teddiursa into the air who would then use the action to do multiple backflips.
By this point a small group of people and even some nearby pokemon saw the two's impromptu performance and had gathered to watch. They watched with bated breath at the small bear and if she would be able to stick the landing.

Thomas and Teddy had rehearsed this routine to the point that this one was almost like second nature to them. And as such Thomas had complete faith that his partner would be able to land with no problem. Unfortunately their rehearsals before had been in an enclosed space, or in the park where the crowds would form a complete circle. This time however, their audience had been only a straight line in front of them, leaving an open space behind them for an unsuspecting pokemon to end up. And just as the old saying went, "everything that could go wring will." It seemed that during the two's performance a Pichu got caught up in the chasing of its own tail and as such with the yellow pokemon engaged with that and Teddy focusing on her flip, the two collided. Thomas turned with an arms outstretched as he always did in order to emphasize the pose that Teddy would do. This time though, instead of being greeted by an applause and Teddy's smiling form, he saw his partner and a Pichu rubbing their heads and the small audience chuckling slightly. Comments such as "Tail Whip gone wrong" and "looks like you guys need more practice" were heard. Thomas didn't concern himself with those however and made his way towards the two pokemon. He was fairly confident that Teddy was fine given how often the two of them fell on their face. His main concern was the Pichu, especially given their eputation for being slightly fragile. "Hey there... you alright little guy?" he asked as he outstretched his hand. "We're sorry about that" At this point Teddy was just fine and gave him a sideways glance at the boy's use of the word 'we'. Almost as if trying to tell him "What do you mean 'We'? She's the one that couldn't pay enough attention in a public setting" with her eyes. Thomas made a mental note that the two of them would need to work on their soft focus in the future. Unfortunately the Pichu didn't seem to take too kindly to the apology and began charging electricity in her cheek pouches. Luckily Teddy recognized the telltale signs of an attack and pushed her partner out of the way of the Thunder Shock. Thomas was at a loss for what to do. It wasn't to say that he wasn't a fan of pokemon battles, but he and Teddy were honestly more interested in pokemon contests. But despite their reluctance the audience began to get excited at the prospect of being able to watch both a dance and a pokemon battle. And with the crowd cheering for it, what else could the pair do? It wasn't a performer's nature to deny an audience after all. "Alright Teddy, lets start it out with Feint!" Nodding to acknowledge the boy's command, Teddy's arms began to glow as she made a mad dash for the Pichu. Suddenly Teddy disappeared, only to reappear behind the rodent and strike it with her glowing arm. Noticing the distance between the two now basically nonexistent, Thomas then proceeded to command his partner to use a Lick. Teddy grinned before licking the rodent's cheek and doing a backward somersault to get farther away. once more. This prompted the crowd to applaud the boy's way of allowing his partner's athleticism to shine. The boy on the other hand let out a sigh of relief as Teddy's badly aimed lick didn't end up with her paralyzed. In the time between Teddy's initial Feint and her back-flip away, The Pichu had gotten the opportunity to use Nasty Plot and thought up an effective way to use two moves. Pichu, turned to face her opponent and charged up a sweet kiss. When she finally let it loose, it was the size of an Ursaring, and suddenly she combined it with a low powered Thunder Shock. The pairing of the two moves caused the sweet kiss to split apart into multiple smaller versions of itself each charged with a small amount of electricity. And just like that Thomas' decision was reversed. Initially he had planned to just knock out the little one and ask someone to take her to the pokemon center when he left. But that combination looked so spectacular, not to mention it was dangerously effective. He felt that it would help him when he finally made his entrance on a contest stage. He assumed that because no one came to assist it in battle that this Pichu was wild and he would bet the end of the battle on that. "Alright Teddy, destroy those kisses with Scratch!" After taking a few seconds to understand what her partner was trying to do, the bear jumped and used her now glowing claws to shred the electrified hearts. She winced slightly as she landed but that was covered up by the falling of pink and yellow sparkles. This caused the crowd to go wild and begin cheering for the duo. One of them even asked if he was going to participate in the upcoming contest in Cianwood. "Finish it off with Feint!" Hearing this, Teddy made a bee line towards the Pichu. In an attempt to fend her off, Pichu launched another Sweet Kiss. Just as it was about to make contact however, Teddy disappeared and once again reappeared behind the rodent, striking it with her glowing arms. "And now for the final touch, lets try a Pokeball!" Thomas took the opportunity to throw a pokeball at the little one. And he (along with all the other spectators) watched the small thing shake with bated breath.
