LITTLE LIGHT SHONE in from outside, the entrance to the cave a blinding glow with the sun having reached its noon peak outside, a thin veil of fog remaining from the thick cloud that loomed over the area that morning, shrouding already shadowy cavern in a thin film of hazy droplets as the roar of the falls echoed loudly through the enclosed space.[break][break]
The group gathered at the water's edge may have been easy to miss if not for the telltale glare from an active phone brightening the mist around them.[break][break]
Two shapes lingered at the bank of the crystalline pool, resting at either side of a third, clearly human figure. Dratini, long body curled to lay comfortably against the ground, Meowth, setting with his paws to the ground, and Noelani, a drowsy-eyed trainer dressed in an only halfway disappropriate bikini, all had their eyes fixed on one thing. The falls.[break][break]
Kitten's mouth opened wide in a lazy yawn as he shift his body beneath himself, shifting to sit on his backside with his feet stretched out in front of him as he supported his weight with his forepaws, tail bobbing left and right slowly as he waited with thinly worn patience for the group "activity" to end. Dratini seemed far more involved than her feline partner, attentive gaze locked on what appeared to be a small figure wriggling against the rush of the water. The dragon opened her mouth in a gentle song of encouragement, her lilting tone spurring what appeared to be a fourth member's efforts on.[break][break]
The dark-haired woman sporting little more than frilly swimwear seemed to be the middle ground, simply staring intently into the crash of the falls toward the little figure struggling against the current with careful attention.[break][break]
The center of the trio's attention, upon close inspection, would reveal itself to be a steely-gazed Magikarp, muscles straining with uncharacteristic control and focus as he pushed with all his might to swim his way up the falls. While he didn't look to be making any progress, he didn't seem to be falling against the tide, either.

 Truly nature was a wonderful thing. There was something about the elegant balance of power and beauty that made it so awe inspiring, at least it was for Frederick. For years he had heard about Tohjo falls and the beautiful sight that it was, how he simply had to visit it. Unfortunately back then he didn't have the time, as he was far too busy with his work. But now that he was free to go where he pleased why not take a look himself? In fact this would be the perfect opportunity to give Wooly some much needed practice.
With the flaaffy at his side and his Yanmega flying circles over head Frederick felt perfectly secure walking along the river leading up to the waterfall. His eyes traveled along the river as he walked, the cool crisp water just begging him to dive in or have a drink. A shame he couldn't indulge himself in such pleasantness while in the middle of a training session. He had to give his pokemon the proper example of discipline, after all.
As they drew near to the waterfall itself Race would suddenly start buzzing with excitement, the noise eminating from his massive wings audible even to the creatures far below it. The large insect suddenly flew forward, his eyes clearly locked onto an interesting subject. Once he arrived at the waterfall he would hover in place next to a struggling magikarp, a rather pathetic looking creature that was fueled by determination. Race smiled widely at the water pokemon, mouth opening to offer it some chirps of encouragement as he excitedly buzzed around him.
Frederick simply shook his head as he watched this, his gaze falling to the river's shore, where a bikini clad woman looked like she was about to doze off and a rather peculiar pair of pokemon. One a strange looking meowth and the other a dratini, of all things. He didn't say anything as he drew near, as it seemed that they were all looking at the same thing that caught Race's attention. Yellow eyes narrowed into as quint as he focused on that spot in the falls, only realizing what it was once he had drawn closer. The sight of the magikarp brought a hint of excitement to the ranger's otherwise calm smile, his fingers slipping behind his suspenders as he muttered to himself. "Would you look at that?"
It wasn't long after the realization that he would find himself standing directly behind the green haired trainer. Though his eyes were still locked on the impressive display of willpower going on within the waterfall. "Never have I seen a magikarp so determined to prove itself. What a sight that it to see."

His eyes were narrow as he stared toward the top of the waterfall with conviction.[break][break] Dratini's gaze was drawn toward the insect now looming near her teammate, her head tilting slightly before the quiet gravel of stone underfoot brought her attention behind the group, her body twisting slightly to set her eyes on the trainer and the thickly-wooled pokemon following at his side. The dragon straightened her posture slightly, watching on with a curious gaze as the pair drew nearer.[break][break] It wasn't until he spoke that the "professor" noted his presence, the rumble of the falls having smothered the sound of his approach, though her eyes failed to withdraw from the pokémon fighting its way against the water. Dratini's eyes turned to Noelani as she watched her trainer in quiet wonder, her long body curling as she cant her head at a ninety degree angle as she observed the scientist's disinterest with the new arrival.[break][break] ❝ We have a visitor, ❞ the woman spoke softly, her eyes still centered on Magikarp. Dratini gave a wavering song in reply as she turned her friendly eyes back to Frederick, the tip of her tail drawing in toward her body.[break][break] ❝ Twister on Croconaw. ❞[break][break] The dragon's eyes blinked at the command, its body twisting around sharply as its gaze searched the water for any sign of threat. Her gaze widened as she caught sight of the telltale crimson spines peeking from the surface of the water at the base of the falls, narrowing sharply in disapproval of the hungry pokémon waiting eagerly for Magikarp's failure.[break][break] Her body unfurled in a single smooth motion, her form slipping its way just against the water's edge as she coiled her tail and whipped it out with a sharp 'crack,' sending a spiraling whirlwind toward its newfound enemy.[break][break] Dratini used Twister![break]
Croconaw was hit for light damage! [break] Croconaw's eyes had just risen to peek over the water's surface when it was caught in the cutting gust of wind, the torrent of air sending it crashing back against the rocks, its muscled jaws prying to release an startled, rumbling yelp of a growl. Its jaws clamped shut tight as it braced itself against the stone with a clawed hand, glaring toward the dragon before shooting down to hide under the rolling, reflective surface of the lake. Dratini's eyes watched the water intently as the gator kicked off from the edge of the pool, the sharp strike sending it like a jet through the water as it closed in to launch an attack in retaliation.[break][break] Noelani's gaze peeked to the side, watching to gauge the pokémon's response.[break][break] Croconaw used rage![break]

Croconaw's defense fell! [break] As the crocodile lept up from the water it swiped at the dragon's serpentine body, dragging its claws across its surface to leave thin ribboned cuts in the faded layer of skin in the process of being shed. The action was met with a sharp glare of disapproval, the steely leer met with the equally harsh gaze of the irritable Croconaw now looking to Dratini as its lunch.[break][break] The scientist gave no audible disapproval of Dratini's chosen method of attack, though the turn of her head to center her full attention on the battle signaled to the well informed Kitten that the dragon was on the verge of making a costly mistake.[break][break] ❝ Thunderwave, ❞ she interjected easily, managing to voice the command before Croconaw's pointed teeth could come to clamp themselves down on the dragon's tail. Dratini's fins flicked before setting firm, electricity crackling over their surface before sparking out from her body in a brief flash of light.[break][break] Croconaw used bite![break]

Croconaw became paralyzed! [break] Dratini's body squirmed weakly at the bite, her long tail drawing in quickly toward her body in a bid to protect if from another crunch from the crocodile's jaws, but the gator's mouth was clamped tight. Its round body was dragged up from the water, teeth still fixed in the dragon's tail as it shuddered and twitched, its muscles locked tight with the paralyzing threads of electricity spiking through its muscles.[break][break] ❝ Shake her off with twister, ❞ Noelani further instructed, her voice still tranquil and calm as she lowered her phone a bit, attention still wholly focused to the dragon seeming to struggle with how to continue.[break][break] The order was all she needed to start whipping her tail about forcefully, catching the Croconaw in a barrage of twisters as she tried to break free from its grip.[break][break] Croconaw is paralyzed![break][break]

The final strike was a critical hit![break]
Cronaw was hit for heavy damage! [break] The final swipe of her tail seemed by far the most effective, the young dragon putting all of her strength into whipping the entirety of her body around to gather enough momentum to rip the gator's tightly clamped jaws through the flesh of her tail and send it flying to crash its spine against the hard stone wall.[break][break] ❝ One more, ❞ Dratini's trainer called to her. The serpent bodied dragon curled forward slightly, readying her tail for another forceful twister[break][break]. Croconaw hit the surface of the pool with a loud 'splash.'[break][break] Croconaw shakes off its paralysis! [break] With a sore back and a pounding headache, the gator seemed less inclined to close the distance a second time. The wild pokémon darted up from the surface of the gently rolling waves, opening its jaws wide to send a torrent of water toward the offending dragon - Dratini circling its body around in a swift motion the spin another current of wind at the alligator.[break][break] Croconaw used water gun![break]

Croconaw fainted! [break] Croconaw's body plummeted back toward the water, sounding with another noisy splash as it disappeared under its surface.[break][break] Dratini wilted slightly, shaking her body to free it of the lingering drops of water from the pokémon's final attack. Her gaze turned toward Noelani with uncertainty, soft-skinned brows easing over her eyes with worry. The professor's gentle gaze passed over the pokémon slowly before waving her over, the light of her phone going black as she set it to sleep, slipping it into her dufflebag in exchange for a pair of potions.[break][break] Just behind the group, still struggling against the water, Magikarp's body lit with a blinding glow - its shape shifting and growing until the light suddenly broke away to reveal the unmistakable shape of a Gyarados. The massive serpent gave a loud, angry roar as it surged against the water, its long body twisting against the waves to reach higher up the falls.[break][break] The sound was enough to inspire the entire group to glance back toward the pokémon, the Dratini's eyes being the only pair among the trio to widen at the sight of the evolved fish.[break][break] Magikarp evolved into Gyarados!

Somehow the magikarp's lack of response only managed to make Race more excited, his wings beating so rapidly that a low hum could be heard throughout the area. As far as the yanmega was concerned this fierce fish was the coolest pokemon in the world. He watched with great anticipation as Magikarp struggled against the falls, expression brightening with even the slightest bit of progress and darkening with every bit of progress lost. This was truly a roller coaster of emotions for the excitable dragonfly. Frederick's eyes dropped from the waterfall to the woman as she spoke, mouth opening to offer her a greeting. Initially he thought she was talking to him, but as his gaze shifted the unmistakable red crest lurking at the bottom of the falls. "Ah. So we do." It seemed that this gathering had started to draw attention from the wild life. While the green haired woman handled the croc the ranger would take a look around, searching the area for any other pokemon that thought it wise to ambush them at this time. A slight shifting of shadow caught the Frederick's eye, prompting him to turn his back on the falls to get a better look. There was a slight yet somehow sinister glimmer behind one of the larger rocks along the cliff side, but what exactly could it be? Yellow eyes dropped down to the Flaaffy, who seemed to be rather disinterested in the fight taking place before him. Instead he focused on puffing what little wool he had left, seeming more irritated at the mist from the falls for getting in his fleece than anything else. "Focus Wooly." At that Wooly would look up at his trainer, looking vaguely surprised at the order. All it took was a gesture toward the mysterious glint for the situation to start making sense for the fluffy pink pokemon. "Charge up and go investigate." With a nod the pokemon would start walking toward the shadow, all the while building up the static charge in his fleece in preparation for what he may face. He wouldn't even reach the boulder before the sableye watching from the darkness would strike, using shadow sneak to extend his shadow out from himself and strike the flaaffy from behind. It all happened too quickly for the electric sheep to attempt to dodge, the impact landing squarely on his back and causing him to stumble forward. Nostrils flared as he stared into the darkness, a grin of jagged white teeth making itself visible alongside the two gleaming eyes in the shadow. At least one of them was amused. Upon seeing this Frederick would take a couple steps forward, tucking his thumbs behind his suspenders as he did. "Thundershock."Immediately Wooly would discharge the electrity he had built up, releasing a powerful thundershock that would wipe the smile from the ghost pokemon's face. It's mouth contorted into a sneer as he charged from the shadows, arms held out wide as he prepared to launch a string of fury swipes at the attacking sheep. Despite the significant damage from the blow it seemed he was still able to push himself to attack, even if it wasn't as quick as before. But he still managed to outmaneuver the flaaffy, predicting a quick dodge to the side and following through with a flurry of strikes. The attacks only made the flaafy angrier, eyes narrowing as the electricity in his wool started to crackle once again. "Power Gem." With a fierce cry Wooly would spin around, swinging his tail at the gemstone pokemon. As he did it would start to glow brightly, faint sparkles emanating from the light. The ball of the tail would make impact with the side of the sableye's face and release a power gem beam upon making contact. The force of both the strike and the beam combined to send the dark ghost tumbling over sideways, where it would lie motionless. With his prey rendered unconscious Wooly would take a moment to straighten his wool, giving it a quick preen before trotting back over to Frederick. The ranger greeted the creature with a warm smile, head bobbing in acknowledgement before he turned to make his way back toward Palm. "You did well. But be sure to keep your guard up in case more decide to show up." It came as a bit of a surprise to see that the dratini was still struggling against the Croconaw upon his return, even if it was the tail end of the battle. For some reason he expected this trainer to make short work of such a creature. "Looks like that thing gave you a bit of trouble. Would you like some assistance next-" He was cut off mid sentence by a massive roar that carried throughout the area, prompting the ranger to raise his brows and look in the direction of the noise. Where there was once a magikarp striving to reach the top was a massive beast of a pokemon. Race, who once seemed huge next to the small fish, was now dwarfed by the sheer size of the beast. The yanmega watched in awe as the change took place, a mixture of excitement and fear dominating his emotions. [break] ❝ Actually, ❞ the scientist spoke as she worked, canting her head a bit as her gaze drifted off to the side - spying the rather irritable looking Delibird peeking its beaked face from the rock it had been resting behind before it was so rudely awoken by Gyrados' empowering bellow. ❝ Do you think you and Wooly could take care of Delibird? ❞ she questioned, her eyes falling back toward Dratini's tail as the wounds began to heal over.[break][break] It appeared the orange bird wasn't the only one woken from its nap, as Croconaw's sinking form settled over the top of a short-tempered Shellder - the angered clam squirming from beneath the alligator's form to peer around for the pokémon's attacker before turning its face to the floor of the pool and shooting out a strong jet of water, successfully launching itself from the bottom of the lake.[break][break] Its purple shelled form whirred around to glance over the bank, gaze narrowing as it spotted the group gathered along the shore. Kitten's gaze rolled lazily toward the movement, the splash announcing the little clam's arrival causing his ear to give a single twitch in careless acknowledgement.[break][break] ❝ Could you get that one? ❞ The woman questioned toward the Meowth, though her eyes never left her work as she set the emptied plastic container back to her dufflebag, readying the second potion in her grip. Dratini shrank slightly at the request, an apologetic gaze set toward the feline.[break][break] The cat's eyes sharpened as he twisted hims body up from the ground, springing from the cavern's floor with a forepaw to throw himself into the air toward the Shellder now readying a water gun for the small gathering. The clam's own eyes narrowed against the void of its pitch black skin, daring the cat's strike. ❝ Start with fake out, ❞ She calmly reminded, spritzing Dratini's tail with a fresh shower of potion.[break][break] Noelani used Potion![break]
Dratini was fully healed! [break] Kitten's speed was far beyond what the Shellder was able to achieve, and as his body sailed by without landing a strike the pokémon became confused, its gaze rising to stare up in wonder toward the paw risen and ready to strike. The shift in the water type's focus was exactly what the feline had waited for, claws coming down to scrape over the pokémon's protective shell in a surprise attack.[break][break] Kitten used Fake Out![break]
Shellder was hit for minor damage![break][break]
Shellder flinched! [break] ❝ Shellder's shell is too strong for you, ❞ The trainer noted, having caught the clink of his claws against the pokémon's tough casing. Her eyes were too fixed on checking over the inexperience dragon to catch sight of the cat sailing to kick off from the wall of the enclosed pond, the only chance he had at avoiding dropping straight into the water below. [break][break] ❝ Avoid it. Strike for the eyes. ❞[break][break] The feline's training showed clearly in his grace, feet launching him from the uneven surface of the stone wall to send him soaring back toward his falling opponent for a second attack. He drew back a paw as he twisted smoothly in the air, turning his body toward the pokémon's face in eager anticipation of the opening of its tightly clamped shell.[break][break] The stubborn pokémon failed to reveal itself, opting to tackle the cat out of the air with a sudden twirl as he came within striking distance in a none-too-subtle attempt to knock him off course. The cat, wholly focused on his opponent's movements, caught the attack with his paw as it spun in the air, glare tightening as he pushed off to flip toward the water's edge. His feet landed in a quiet cloud of dust as a shadowy pulse echoed from the coin at his forehead, the air around the circle of shade wavering before it collided with the clam, causing it to pop open and fly a short ways back over the water.[break][break] Shellder used tackle![break]

Shellder was hit for heavy damage! [break] The wounded water type fell under the surface of the waves with a splash. The sound triggered another command from the trainer, her eyes turning from the now healed Dratini to scour the area around Gyarados. ❝ Feint attack. ❞[break][break] The Meowth's heavy-lidded eyes opened fully, wide gaze set toward the water as he worked to peer through the waves in search of the pokémon underneath. A glimmer of light against its shell as it approached in preparation of a water gun was all Kitten needed to land his strike, hind paws pushing him up from the ground to leap into the water, cutting into its surface with his heel as he held back a paw in preparation of his attack.[break][break] Shellder was stunned to see the cat make his appearance, eyes going wide with fear as they locked with his empty, pitiless stare. It ducked its face down to avoid the swipe, only to be caught by the foot rushing to rise itself in strike against the chin of its shell.[break][break] Kitten used Feint Attack![break]

Shellder fainted! [break] The clam came rocketing up from the surface of the lake, Kitten's body twirling from the force of the strike as the water resisted against his spin. Lids fell heavy over his eyes as his gaze turned up to the rays of light peeking from above, his body relaxing a bit under the assurance of his victory.[break][break] Dratini's eyes fell toward Kitten as he pulled himself up onto the bank, silvery fur dark and heavy with water as he dragged his soaked form back to his place, shoulders low and tail dragged against the ground.[break][break] ❝ Dark pulse works well, too, ❞ the trainer offered cheerily toward the pokémon, a warm smile of approval at her lips as she turned her eyes to the Meowth. Kitten averted his gaze, batting his paw in dismissal toward his trainer as he felt a bit of heat rising to his cheeks.[break][break] His attention turned back toward the woman as she offered a towel from her bag, his furry brows knotting tight as he pressed a paw to its surface and forced it down, rejecting the assistance.[break][break] Noelani tilt her head slightly at the action, smile fading into a curious pout, watching the cat with questioning eyes as he thumbed a claw over his shoulder to the bright light of the entrance. He didn't wait for approval before excusing himself, his tail flicking back and forth behind himself in agitation as he made his silent retreat.[break][break] The scientist furrowed her brows as she watched after, uncertain of what could be troubling her partner. Race darted back as the massive water pokemon snapped at him, his eyes widening in shock. Why would his new friend do this? He looked the gyarados up and down for a moment, this time from a safe distance, before drawing his conclusion. He was still trying to climb! How silly it was for the yanmega to get in the way on his path to success. With an apologetic buzz large insect would swing around the side to resume his cheerful cries of encouragement while also being sure to stay safely out of the way. At this point Frederick wasn't paying much mind to the pokemon flying near the falls, the presence of pokemon in the area demanding his attention. Not to mention the potential discussion that had yet to begin with this unusual young lady. Yet as she spoke to him it appeared that there were still more pressing matters to attend to, a delibird poking it's head around from another one of the rocks. Frederick's brows rose as he looked at it, his shoulders shaking as he silently chuckled to himself. "Yes, I think we can manage that."As irritated as the delibird was, it knew better than to attack the group while they were looking. His eyes locked on to the ranger's beak opening slightly as his eyes narrowed into the tired glare of a pokemon woken from a deep sleep. Frederick would maintain eye contact with the icey bird as he spoke, his lips still curled into an amused smile. "Wooly, use Power Gem." With a quick shake of the tail the sphere on it's tip would start to glow brightly with a strange sparkling energy. Wooly would turn his back to the pokemon, looking over his shoulder to make sure his aim was true as he fired the power gem beam at the delibird. The penguin's eyes went wide at the sight of this, the beam somehow having a rocky gemstone appearance to it. As much as he liked shinies, this looked like it would be dangerous if it hit him. Opening his mouth, releasing a beam of rainbow colored energy aimed to intercept the sparkling light. The aurora beam clashed with the power gem light, causing it to falter a moment as the two attacks struggled against each other. Though it wasn't long before the power gem started to win out, Wooly's superior strength as well as the type advantage giving it the power need to push through and strike the delibird. Each sparkle in the light stung like a gemstone digging into it's skin, causing the frigid bird to shriek in pain as it was pelted by the ray. As effective as the attack was the aurora beam managed to dampen the blow a bit, as the delibird still managed to stay standing after enduring that attack. Frederick nodded, impressed that it was able to withstand the attack. If he wasn't already content with his team for the moment he would have been tempted to take this spunky little bird with him. "Finish it off with another Power Gem."With his back still toward his opponent Wooly would fire yet another beam of energy from his tail, another sparkling power gem attack. The delibird opened it's mouth to counter again, but was unable to find the strength to release another beam. Only a faint glow of rainbow colored light emanated from his mouth as he was once again pelted by the dazzling ray of light. This time he was unable to withstand the pain, his legs buckling underneath as he collapsed face first into the dirt. Frederick reached a hand down to ruffle the wool of the victorious pink pokemon, though his gaze would shift to Palm and her team as he spoke. Noelani reached a hand to rub at the dragon's crown, leaning toward her to rest her forehead against that of her partner.[break][break] ❝ We'll be going soon, ❞ she gently assured, her hand easing its way down the pokémon's neck, the dragon relaxing visibly under her trainer's touch. ❝ Do you want to get some training in before we leave? ❞[break][break] Dratini's reply was a dejected nod, her gaze casting shyly toward the side as she curled herself a bit smaller at the prospect. ❝ I'll guide you. So follow my instruction. ❞[break][break] The reassuring words were enough to straighten the slender dragon's posture, her eyes centering on the calm green gaze of her trainer as the woman glanced over the cavern in search of an opponent.[break][break] ❝ There, ❞ she spoke, somewhat abrupt despite her mild tone.[break][break] Dratini turned her body carefully to peek back behind herself, her gaze falling to the Slowpoke moving at a gruelingly slow pace to approach them. Still a ways across the rocky floor, the group might have been able to leave without confrontation before the pokémon could arrive to trouble them. The sluggish pokémon powered forward with its jaws wide in threat, moving at a snail's pace to close the distance between itself and the group just against the water's edge.[break][break] It was with some doubt that the pokémon glanced back at her trainer, though as the woman failed to turn her eyes away from the opponent the Dratini willed herself to do the same.[break][break] ❝ Start your approach cautiously, ❞ Noelani advised, the dragon hesitating a moment before slinking its body forward. ❝ Slowpoke will move slowly, but his mind is sharp. ❞[break][break] Dratini nodded in faint indication of its intention to heed the "professor's" advice. ❝ Thunderwave will be your typical opening technique, ❞ the woman stated, her eyes finally pulling from Slowpoke to rest gently on the dragon making its way forward so carefully. ❝ It will immobilize your opponent and give you a chance to act, ❞ she explained, her eyes centering their focus back on Slowpoke.[break][break] The dragon had closed the distance well enough that the battle should have started. While the round pink pokemon seemed keen on attacking, the slow draw of its mouth gave the woman ample time to direct her partner.[break][break] ❝ That's where we'll start. Begin with thunder wave. ❞[break][break] Dratini's fins twitched before fanning fully open, her long body aligning its posture as she fixed the Slowpoke with a cautiously determined stare, electricity dancing at the edges of its fins before striking out in jagged webs of light, converging on the wild pokémon's form.[break][break] Dratini used Thunder Wave![break]
Slowpoke became paralyzed! [break] The opening of the pokemon's jaws hitched, stuttering slightly before locking entirely as the pokemon failed to manage a water gun.[break][break] ❝ Leer is only helpful when you're going to hit your opponent head on. We'll forgo it this time. Continue with twister until Slowpoke submits. You will have two strikes before he will retaliate. ❞[break][break] Dratini steeled herself at her trainer's words, eyes narrowing to a glare as she drew her tail in toward her body in a slow, careful motion. Her tail thrashed out with precision to summon a spiral of wind, coiling inward to lash out again and again as she battered the pokémon in an assault of twisters.[break][break] Dratini unleashed a barrage of twisters![break]

Dratini was hit for light damage! [break] As the pokemon's jaws hitched and trembled repeatedly in its attempts, its body slowly bracing against the winds lashing against its form, its eyes lit with a sudden, unnatural glow - pupils disappearing behind a bright purple haze as it fought back with confusion. The pulse of energy pulsed through the air before it met with Dratini, leaving the pokémon reeling back with a shake of its head as it tried to push back the psychic attack.[break][break] ❝ Do not recoil, ❞ was the trainer's clear direction, her eyes turning toward Dratini. ❝ Against any other pokémon, this would have given them time to attack. ❞[break][break] She continued as her eyes centered on the weakened Slowpoke, the battle having taken enough of a toll to inspire the pokemon to simply curl its legs beneath itself to lay on the ground as it slowly opened its mouth again in preparation of an attack.[break][break] ❝ You have to be a wall, Dratini. If you want to protect your friends. You can't fall back. ❞[break][break] Dratini lowered her head in her determination, inspired by the scientist's words as she brought her tail inward to prepare for another strike, releasing the tightened spring of her tail to throw another gust of wind toward Slowpoke.[break][break] Dratini used twister![break]

Slowpoke fainted! [break] Water spouted from the dual-types mouth as it fell, what would have been a powerful spout weakened to a spindly stream before the pokémon's chin hit the ground, eyes falling closed as it rest against the cavern floor.[break][break] Dratini turned her head to see a gentle smile of approval from her trainer, her gaze lighting up as she straightened her long body before slipping around to snake her way back to the woman.[break][break] Noelani held out her hand, greeting Dratini's head under its touch.[break][break] Her eyes turned slowly toward Frederick, watching after the man in curiosity. Her words had jogged her memory and, all of the sudden, she noted his face to be a familiar one. [break][break]wild thread end![break]

Frederick wasn't about to start trying to figure out the strange meowth's mentality. But felines tended to be more solitary creatures so he was sure that it wasn't too out of the ordinary for one to suddenly decide to walk off and enjoy some alone time. It also seemed that the green haired woman wasn't too concerned about it either, which meant he shouldn't bother worrying about it either. He silently watched as she tended to the needy dragon, brows raising slightly as she tended to it. It was always interesting to be reminded that a pokemon as fierce as Dragonite had to start as a helpless little worm of a Dratini. In fact it wasn't too long ago that his nidoran was in the very same situation. Though he wasn't quite so...pathetic even back then. The ranger looked off, letting out a soft hum as he nodded to himself. "Yes, we should probably be on our way soon as well." A hand moved up to his lips, thumb and index fingers curling toward his mouth and allowing him to produce a sharp whistle. At the sound of this Race would quickly turn away from his vicious 'new friend' and dart back down to Frederick, positioning himself to hover over his right shoulder. It was sad to leave behind his large new ally, but he had to follow his trainer's orders. "We'll be on our way. You and your team enjoy your..." His words trailed off, his gaze falling on a a yellow bump that was peaking out of the water. It had it's eyes on the dragon and her trainer, and seemed ready to strike the now that they turned to face the slowpoke. An arm quickly extended out toward the psyduck, a single finger extending as he designated the target to his team. "Thundershock, now." Wooly's eyes widened slightly as he followed the extended finger, the sheep not wasting any time in identifying the threat. Abandoning his usual skips the flaaffy would run forward on all fours, charging up a thundershock in the wool surrounding his head. Once near enough he would discharge the electricity into the psyduck, causing the energy to arc into the psyduck. The water surround it only worsened the situation for the creature, as the water surrounding it crackled with electricity as well. In a panic the psyduck would quickly paddle to the short, eye muscles twitching slightly as the electricity lingered in her muscles. This whole situation was giving her a serious headache, and she wasn't about to be the only one. Eyes narrowed at the pink sheep as the duck turned her frustrations outward, sending out a wave of psychic energy that was sure to cause confusion for her opponent. The flaaffy winced, her head pulsating with the pain the psyduck likely felt all the time. It was excruciating, but it served to focus her frustrations on her attacker. She wasn't about to just let this obnoxious duck get away with an attack like that. "Just finish it off with another thundershock." Wooly built up another charge of electricity, stepping forward as he released it toward his opponent. The psyduck let out a cry of pain as the highly effective thundershock traveled through her body again, this time managing to knock her completely unconscious. With a frustrated snort Wooly would prance back over to his owner, where he would receive another round of well deserved head pats. "Good work as always Wooly. I'd say you deserve a rest after all that."Frederick turned toward the professor and her pokemon, offering them a gentle smile. "And to think only moments ago I was worried I would need to protect you two. I suppose sometimes it's nice to be proven wrong." The ranger would laugh softly as he slid his thumbs behind his suspenders, his gaze lingering on Noelani for a moment before turning up to the gyarados upon the waterfall. "Congratulations on that grand evolution, by the way. I'm sure that gyarados will be a fine addition to your team." He shot a glance to Race, watching with an amused smile as the large insect continually stared up at the monstrosity of a pokemon with both pride and excitement. The dark skinned man shrugged his shoulders at this before turning back to Palm. He would lean forward slightly, a hand extending out to her. "It was a pleasure to speak with you, miss. Perhaps we will meet again in the future."

NOELANI TURNED HER head to peek toward Frederick as his laughter echoed off the walls of the cavern, her hand retracting from its place atop Dratini's head with care. Her gaze flitted to his thumb as it eased its way behind the strap of his suspenders. Magikarp was pleased to train in peace, but the strain on his muscles was making it difficult to maintain his place against the sheer force of the waterfall.[break][break]
❝ Magikarp worked hard very for it, ❞ was her response to the congratulations, her attention turning slowly to center on the Gyarados powering against the falls nearby. She noted from his posture alone that fatigue was beginning to have an effect on the pokémon, the slowed, precise movements of his body having to have a bit more effort put into them than they did just a few hours ago.[break][break]
The sound of his shoes scuffing against the grainy surface of the rocky terrain drew her eyes back toward the man, the mist having further cleared with the afternoon hour. By now she was certain of where she had seen him, though she wouldn't mention her familiarity. Her gaze fell to the hand outstretched toward her, sandals shifting against the ground as she turned in her own place to face him.[break][break]
❝ Okay, ❞ was the simple reply to the proposed possibility, lips set in a tranquil line as she stared toward his hand, hand gripping at it firmly for a respectable shake one might not expect from such a soft-spoken girl. ❝ Um. — It was nice to meet you too, ❞ she offered, the uncertainty in her otherwise sincere tone due to her lack of social skill rather than a dislike for his quiet company.[break][break]
❝ Thank you for helping during training. ❞ A warm smile pulled at her lips as her calm eyes rose to meet with the stranger's golden stare.
