They didn’t have to wait long before a pokemon appeared in front of them or more accurately floated in their path. He was bit surprised to find a Magnemite out here but considering its dual type it was actually a perfect challenge for Nox. Well it would have been if the poison-type didn’t have a counter for it. None the less a fight was a fight and the more they fought the better they got in the end. Motioning to the Croagunk Ed spoke “You see the Magnemite. Well it’s all yours, time to for us to get started.”

Nox only deigned his trainer with a lazy look and a disinterested croak but still moved forwards to engage the wild pokemon. The electric type was just beginning to turn towards them no doubt having heard the commotion but it was already too late for it. “Now use Astonish to start off.” Propelling himself the Croagunk rapidly closed the distance and was up in the face of the now turned Magnemite releasing an ominous croak that promised pain as shadows began to dance across his face while his eyes glowed hauntingly orange.

Not expecting it and besides how strange it was to witness the electric type actually flinched for a moment from the attack and not one to miss an opportunity Ed barked out another order “Now use Mud-Slap.” Obeying Nox slammed his hand into the ground and sent a wave of mud point blank his opponent. Still stunned the floating steel type could only be carried back a few paces as it regained its bearings. It’s eye narrowing in pain and then into anger at the source of its misfortune the magnets on its side sparked before a bolt of electricity was released.

Not being able to dodge it the blast of electricity slammed into Nox but despite his brief cry out in pain he was relatively untouched so Ed commanded him to end the fight “Close in and used Mud-Slap again.” Not needing to be told twice the Croagunk surged forwards once more and slammed his hand into the ground unleashing another wave of mud at the wild pokemon.

Already rattled from the previous hit it was unable to dodge and the mud sent it toppling to the ground in dead faint. Releasing a small breath as the adrenaline bled off Ed turned to his second pokemon “Alright not bad for the first fight of the day now let’s continued I’m sure there are many more challenges left.” The day was young after all and there were many other pokemon to face.

Ed and his team had moved a bit off the path on one of the rockier clearings between bridges in order to check what they possibly could find when trouble struck once more. There was an ominous rumbling followed by rocks falling down the cliffside directly towards them. It took some scrambling but none of the larger ones managed to hit but they hadn’t come out unscratched from the ordeal either. While not too serious both Ed and his two pokemon had scratches and bruises on them. Angered the teenager’s eyes darted around to see what had caused it when his eyes finally landed on the small form of an Aron.

It was standing imperiously a bit ahead triumph evident it’s eyes which only made Ed angrier. Wanting to wipe of the smirk off the steel type’s face the trainer barked out “Nox use Mud-Slap and then close the distance.” Angry as well at the sudden attack the Croagunk quickly followed up on the command as it’s hand slammed into the ground and a wave of mud shot out towards the Aron. It stumbled from the attack which allowed enough time for the poison-type to close the distance between them. Not to be outdone the metal’s types feet glowed with energy as the three stubbles on it grew in claws with which he slashed at Nox.

Bring his hands in front of him in a guard the poison-type was able to absorb most of the damage but couldn’t stop himself from releasing a somewhat pained croak. “Use Astonish and follow up with Mud-Slap” the moment the order reached his pokemon the Croagunk opened his guard allowing his ominously shadowed face to glare at the Aron. The smaller pokemon flinched for a moment allowing Nox to once more slam it’s hand into the ground and summon a wave of mud. The steel type stumbled back from the hit but with a determined growl it lunched itself back towards Ed’s pokemon.

The headbutt hit Nox in his midsection and forced him to slide back. Not one to be outdone though as he was moving he slammed his own hand into the ground hitting the wild pokemon with a wave of mud once more. This time the Aron didn’t get back and with an irritated shuffled Nox walked back to his trainer.

The next few minutes were spent checking over his team and treating some of the injuries while bought were relatively alright Nox was showing some of the exertion after two battles. In the end Ed used one of his potion on the poison-type to fix the damage after all there were more encounters to be had. With that they moved away from the area and back on the main road crossing some of the bridges towards one of the more forested areas.

After the previous encounter Ed and his team made sure to be more alert and as such this time when they encountered another wild pokemon they were not taken by surprise. The floating bronzor was not doing anything particular threatening but it had spotted them as well. So not wanting to see if it would be hostile or not Ed decided to make the first move “Nox use Astonish and close the distance to take it out.” The Croagunk only nodded his head in understanding before locking eyes with the steel type.

Instead of dashing forwards the poison type shuffled while releasing ominous croaks as shadow began to steadily cover its face. The Bronzor was petrified while it watched and the moment Nox was half way he finally increased his speed and charged in. Once they were only a few feet apart the Croagunk lunched a punch carried by his momentum. The steel type’s eyes relaxed thinking the attack had missed as it whizzed past it and prepared its own. Waiting for that moment Nox spun on his foot and backhanded the wild pokemon with an arm covered in dark energy.

Rattled but not done the bronzor launched a Confusion out of its eyes which Nox was only able to dodge by the skin on his teeth and responded with another Feint Attack. The glowing hand hit the steel type head on and sent it stumbling back and dangerously close to the ground. While it did try to rise up and continue to battle it eventually gave up on it’s struggle and fainted, making it crash on the ground.

As Nox returned back Ed only gave it a nod signifying a job well done before asking “We’ve had a few encounters so far want to go on or are you ready for break?” The response was a croak and the Croagunk reaching for its poke ball on his belt before recalling. Releasing a snort of amusement Ed turned to his starter and spoke “Well I guess it’s only the two of us for the rest of the day Quake.”
