Mizuho Tenkawa A gentle breeze blew through the grass, Mizuho's short pink hair, and her Growlithe's fur. Mizuho sat upon her heels with her Growlithe, Rex, licking her upon her cheek. Her fingers ran over Rex's head, feeling the softness of his fur upon her palms while showing affection to her partner. Nerves started to bother Mizuho and Rex could sense it. This was the very beginning of her pokemon journey.
Mizuho remembered the day she received the Growlithe egg from her mother, a small-time breeder. The warmth of the pokemon egg made her heart race with anticipation! She was ready for Rex to be born! After Rex's birth, Mizuho's face was the first thing Rex had seen; imprinting her likeness into his memory. With Rex's birth and her love of nature, did she finally decide to sign up to become a Pokemon Ranger!
The wind blew once again, causing the duo to turn their faces towards the wind, feeling it blow over them. The feeling was pleasant. After the wind died down, Mizuho turned to look towards Rex and gave him a tight hug. "Are you ready for this, Rex? Our adventure is going to begin. This is the start of our new lives, alright? One that WE want to live," she said with Rex responding with a playful bark.
The Growlithe panted with it's tongue hanging out of it's maw. Delighted to hear that answer, Mizuho stood up and faced down Route 29 with as much inner-strength as she could muster. With that, the two of them took their first steps on their new adventure!  template by Sammy @ Adox 2.0 |

Mizuho Tenkawa As the two started off on their journey, Mizuho noticed the road coming to an abrupt end, entering into a field of tall grass. The pink-haired ranger narrowed her eyes for a moment and stopped herself and her Growlithe, Rex, from entering into the tall grass. Taking this moment to mentally prepare herself and her partner, she squatted down and placed a hand upon Rex's furry head. She felt the animal shaking in her palm before she reached in and gave the creature a warm and comforting hug. The reassuring hug did little to calm the nerves of the pokemon. She ran her fingers through the fine and silky fur of the Growlithe and said gentle words of encouragement. "We'll be fine, Rex. I believe in you and trust that we will do the best we can. You're strong so this should be a piece of cake," she said with a little smile to the Growlithe.
Rex responded with heavy panting and a little bark. His flesh crawled, fearing the unknown that hidden in the depths of the tall grass. She released the creature and stood up, taking a firm stance. "Let's go, Rex. This is where we show our stuff!" she said as she walked into the tall grass, pushing it away as she carved a path through it. She walked in about 10 feet only to see Rex still sitting just before the grass. She beckoned the pokemon to follow her only for only for him to follow reluctantly, remaining within the patted-down grass made by the new ranger. An unfamiliar noise caught Mizuho off-guard only to see a small-humanoid creature standing in front of her.
Mizuho pulled out her pokedex and aimed it directly at the Machop. A short description was given about the pokemon. Clearing her throat, she licked her lips a bit and pointed at the bipedal creature. "Rex, use Flamethrower!" she said as the Growlithe in her charge simply cowered at seeing the Machop. It quivered like a leaf in the wind. Seeing this, the Machop raised it's arms up into the air only to bring them back down as a swirling energy started to come over it. Mizuho gave the Growlithe a perplexed look for a brief moment as she noticed the Machop's gaze shifting from the cowering Growlithe over to her.
Mizuho froze for a moment. She didn't expect pokemon to hurt other people. The Machop rushed over towards Mizuho to deliver a low-kick towards her. Upon seeing this, Rex's quivering stopped and noticing the Machop's advance towards Mizuho in what felt like slow-motion. Rex saw the growing fear upon Mizuho's face and with a single bark, the pup ran towards the Machop causing it's entire body to be enveloped in a wreath of flames before slamming into the pokemon. Rex stopped a few feet further from the collision while the Machop was flung into the opposite direction, skidding across the grass, skipping like a stone over water. Mizuho paused and turned to look towards Rex.
Tears began to well-up in her eyes. She would give Rex a big scolding, but she was proud of him for protecting her. Reaching into her pouch, she pulled out a single Pokeball and ran up to the nearly-fainted pokemon and chucked the pokeball at the creature.
She pegged the Machop right in the body, causing it to be teleported into the ball. Now she waited; waited to watch the ball stop moving. Meanwhile, all around her, the burning body of her Growlithe started a small fire in the grass. Due to her rapture of Rex showing strength and courage and her first actual catch, she was far-too distracted to notice the gentle burn of the grass around them; something she'd have to actually fix once her mind returns to reality.

[attr="class","Vgentempdiv"] With a flash of light the Machop was materialized into the Pokeball, dropping to the ground with a slight 'clink'. One shake. Two shakes. Then a click gave notice that the Machop was successfully captured. Congratulations! You feel you're getting closer and closer with your Growlithe and in time hopefully that will be the case for your new addition to the team![break][break] As you return to your abode you find these items along the way, even a sweet old lady giving you a Potion for your Growlithe's state. - 2x Oran Berry

Mizuho Tenkawa Mizuho watched in anticipation as the ball wiggled. One. Two. Three. Click!
After the sound of the click, she jumped into the air with a fist raised in victory! She rushed over to the pokeball and picked it up, looking over it. The look of pure elation written across her face. She turned to look towards Rex and rushed over to give him a big hug. "I knew you had it in you, Rex!" she shouted out before Rex let out a loud bark. Mizuho quickly sniffed with her nose and looked around, seeing some of the ends of the grass on fire. "Oh no! Oh no! The Rangers will KILL ME if they find out that I set this place on fire! No no no no no!" she said in a fit of panic.
She looked around and, out of desperation, started to stomp on the fires like a Rhyhorn. "No no no no no! We gotta put it out! Help me, Rex!" she shouted out frantically. Springing to action, Rex started to eat some of the burning grass, causing Mizuho to stop and blink. Certainly, he's a fire type, but she NEVER in her wildest dreams would believe that he'd actually EAT the burning grass! WHATEVER! It works! Mizuho proceeded to stomp on whatever parts were set ablaze by her Growlithe's Flare Blitz. After a while, and after the flames were extinguished, Mizuho and Rex plopped on the other side of the tall-grass, back onto the route.
"Oh, maaaaan, the Ranger Corps' gonna kill me," she said in a whiny voice. She turned to look towards Rex with a deathly glare. "No more of that in tall grass, okay, Rex?" she said with Rex shrinking down a bit. After the brief scolding, she looked to the Growlithe and gave him a big smile. "But you did very good on saving me, Rex.
I'll treat you to something if we get back to town, alright?" she said, radiating love for her partner. Rex barked and wagged his tail and jumped up to lick at Mizuho's face. There was laughter coming from Mizuho before she stood up and held the pokeball with the Machop in it.
"Let's take this back to the Pokemon Center first. Gotta keep our friend nice and healthy after all," she said as the Growlithe grumbled a bit. "Don't worry, Rikka will be a good friend to you, I swear!" she said in innocent ignorance before the two made their way back where they came from, passing through the tall grass without incident, so she could heal up Rikka at the pokemon center.
