A Rock Garden of Sweet tea It was 10 a.m. the, shrine had been open for an hour already and still no visitors had come. The media had left several weeks ago only covering the initial collapse and tragedies that followed in it's wake. While dump trucks had taken care of the start of the mess to recover the bodies, the clean up had now slowed down to roll off dumpster fills. Excavation equipment still littered a side of the temple grounds but were only run once in a while when the contractor had the time to get to it.
She turned her face away from the empty stairs and towards the ruins of her once beloved monolith now a pile of rubble surrounded by the once elegant rock garden that now bore foot prints, tire and tread tracks, a blanket of dust and debris.
The store house in the back was safe luckily with only the windows and a few roof tiles taking damage. The Shrine too, thankfully sitting under the protection of the tree canopy to the right. She moved over to the small indentation where she'd been working on clearing the pieces. Fragmented and splintered boards were thrown into the dumpster. Anything she could possibly salvage however was moved either to the store house or under the make shift tarp tents that held stacks of unbroken floorboard and support beams.
Her hands were sweaty inside the yellow work gloves and clashed horribly with her shrine maiden attire. Still it was something that needed to be done. Her hunched over position falling into a rhythm of sift, sort, swing. The swing being the motion of her tossing the broken pieces into the wheelbarrow or dumpster. A breeze carrying the scent of the forest that surrounded the tower blew across the familiar yet alien landscape causing the red fabric of her pants to billow in a much needed breath across her skin. So far she had a pallet of roof tiles stacked almost to her waist and several boards. Hefting the wheelbarrow up on it's one wheel she drove it back over to the rubble and continued to pick through the broken monument. The cicada's drone ebbed and flowed with the wind and only broken by the echoing metallic thud of Eden throwing debris into the proper bins.
"I'm on the top ah the world lookin down on creation n the only destination I kin find is tha love that I foun ever since ya been 'round yer whuts put me at the top of the world~." she sang aloud to herself while stacking up the purple tiles onto the wheelbarrow only stopping momentarily to hum the parts she didn't know and study the broken piece of a statues arm she found. Her gloves digging in deeper to see if she could find the rest of it. ✖ 10 a.m. Sunny ✖ 000 NOTES

i think you're slipping i bring you pain, the kind you can't suffer quietly It was her first time since coming to the Johto region that she really saw the tower for herself. The devastation she'd seen on the television that day in her lab was nothing - nothing - compared to seeing it in person. The Shrine itself was luckily in good condition, but man. She hadn't realized the extent of the actual damage. Eden was going to have her work cut out for her. The excavation equipment off to the side looked barely used. What was the mayor of this town doing?
She'd been looking for Eden when she got here. She had updates on the latest pokemon the redhead had brought her, but she couldn't find the girl to talk to her. She wasn't in the shrine which was a little unusual, but the wind carried her accented, lilting voice from the woods past the tower. As she neared where she could hear the girl from, she could also hear the thudding of wood being thrown against wood. She assumed Eden was cleaning up and repairing, and decided she'd give the girl a hand. It was the least she could do, right?
She nabbed a pair of work gloves that had been sitting on a piece of machinery and slipped them on. She was grinning at the singing Eden as she approached, and grabbed an armful of the tiles she was gathering. "You look like you could use a hand." She'd tilt her head slightly in greeting, smile on her face, and helped load the wheelbarrow. "Is there another one of these? It might make things go faster if we can get two wheelbarrows going." She looked around for another, hoping to spot one nearby she could go grab.
Hope this is enough! Let me know otherwise! • Eden Powers • word count: 288

Ya'll be paid in Sweet tea She was chest deep in broken boards and roofing tiles digging down through the chaos towards the bottom looking for the rest of the statue with baited breath. If only she could find something still remotely intact. She was sure that Ania would appreciate what little bit of familiarity it'd bring back. The cicadas revved back up once more, the sun continued it's unblinking vigilance and Eden baked slowly in the mid summer sun. "Somethin' in the wind has learned my name~ An it's tellin' me that things 'er not the same~ In the leaves on the trees an the touch ah the breeze-" she pulled back out of the mess with more tiles and swung around to load them into the wheelbarrow only to stop suddenly in shock. "Hunny-child ya damn near scared the life outta me!" the yip met with a grin as Hunny-child removed the tiles from her hand and stacked them over on the rest.
"You look like you could use a hand. Is there another one of these? It might make things go faster if we can get two wheelbarrows going."
"Unfortunately no, the one we had, last I remembered seein it, was leanin up against the back of the tower." she thumbed over her shoulder in the direction. "You kin guess where it's probably at now." the tone of defeat clear but it didn't seem to linger too long. "But dun worry 'bout it. Ya don't need ta be gettin all dirty anyhow. What brings you here darlin? Cause ain't no one in there right mind comes fer heavy unpaid labor."

i think you're slipping i bring you pain, the kind you can't suffer quietly Honoka found herself holding back a chuckle, having accidentally started Eden. She hadn't meant to, she'd assumed she would have noticed her, but she must have been more distracted than Honoka thought. The song she was singing sounded almost familiar, but the blonde couldn't place it exactly. "Sorry about that, Eden, didn't mean to scare you." Her smile would stretch into a returned grin, and she'd turn away again to grab another armful of tiles to place in the wheelbarrow. Where were all the workmen? "Why is no one running the equipment?"
She made a little 'huh' noise. "Really? Wow. What even happened here anyway? I only saw briefly on the news about the tower collapsing or something, I was pretty distracted with my experiment at the time. Which I botched anyway, but that's another story." She stood and returned with another bunch of the roofing tiles to dump in the wheelbarrow Eden had. "Oh I don't mind, really. It doesn't look like whoever owns that equipment is doing much to help, and frankly, it's a nice break from the lab." She shrugged and placed the tiles in the wheelbarrow, turning away again to move some more pallets and wood chunks into the appropriate bins.
"Oh, yeah, I wanted to give you an update on the last pokemon you brought to the shelter. The Feebas, remember? It's doing well, it just seemed a little depressed for the most part. Hopefully someone nice will come along and adopt it soon." It wasn't as hurt as it had looked, which was lucky for the vet bills and all that. But it had been lonely, and frightened, but it adapted given time and affection. "I'd also wanted to come visit the shrine. It was convenient that you work here as well. I have a friend who was involved in whatever happened to your tower and he gave me a few details, but not many. It sounds like it was a traumatic experience."

And the NEighborhood sighed in relief Eden was grateful for the momentary break, she'd been going non-stop since 8 a.m. with the normal chores and responsibilities of the shrine. Once the wheelbarrow was full she flicked her head leading Prof. Hunny over towards the make-shift tarp tents and much needed shade where she began stacking the unbroken tiles as neatly as she could with the others. "Oh thank the maker fer that one." she stated, pausing in her stacking to flail a tile around in her hand as she spoke. "I dunno who in the hells left that mess on my door but I damn near had a stroke when I saw it sportin a pair a Irish sunglasses. Thankfully I had a paper bag on hand ta hide 'er shame as I made a run fer your place. Ain't no woman want anyone ta see her like that ya know? I hauled ass ta you 'n then ran back lookin ta see if I could find the- " she stopped and looked around before meeting Honoka's eyes and then looked towards the sky. "The maker's just gonna have ta fergive me for this one." she muttered to her friend then picked up right where she left off. "If I could find the son-of-a bitch that dun did that. Ooh! Thinkin 'bout it even now gets my goat goin in a kickin fit! I ain't found nobody, but you can be damn sure I'm watchin fer any new faces comin up them stairs." Eden's thick yellow gloved hand rose up with two fingers in a victory sign pointing to her eyes and then towards the stairs and back to her eyes again. "Ain't nothin gettin past me."
Once the barrow was empty she picked up the handles again wheeling it over to her spot where she had been working for the past week and a half. "As for the machine shovel the damn man wouldn't leave the keys where I could find em, that's why." She sighed in frustrated defeat while stacking in some more tiles, no use getting mad over it anyway. "Some asshat got overzealous with thur pokemon 'n trainin I guess. I dunno the details I wasn't here myself at the time." her voice dropped a bit in somber reminiscence before taking a deep breath shaking her head slightly and looking onto better things. "Was out on holiday visiting family. A good thing too, iffen I was here I'd a dun put my foot right up their-" she really needed to start curbing her language on sacred grounds. Eden stopped herself for a minute finding better words and lifted her head in a small jerk the moment they came to her. "If I was here, when it happened, The Tower'd still be here, Gent would still be here 'n the one who dun started it all would've been folded like origami." it took all Eden had to try and let it go. She still had issues with what happened, she still wasn't completely clear on it all. Even though Ania seemed to come to terms with it Eden still looked for someone to blame and pin the tail on. "I know I ain't supposed ta harbor any hate or ill feelins for the dead. I'm suppose'd ta be pure and kind and forgivin." the heels of her gloved palms rested against half an eve as her head dropped down between her shoulders and then fell back letting the sun beat down on her face. "But I hope that man is naked n in a dryer who's insides is covered in carpet an he's spinnin gettin rug burn fer the rest of eternity!"
A small flock of Murkrows took off in a series of cries from the single telephone wire that stretched up from the street and across the grounds to the shrine. Her rant of vengeance out of the way and knowing she'd be sitting in confessions for at least an hour or more that night, Eden moved back to pulling and prying out the wooden splinters and plaster that she could get a hold of. "Any how the-, come on ya damn thing!" she tugged a little harder and pulled the piece of wood out looking it over. It was a piece of hand railing. " Huh, anywho, the contractor that owns it comes over when he can 'tween jobs 'n what not. Sometimes we'll see em three days in a row. Other times a week 'er more goes by without so much as a peep. Mostly it's volunteer work that shows up but I can't be havin the elderly out here workin like that in this heat." her arm came up wiping the sweat off her brow and into her bangs and hairline. "They mostly just show up fer tea anyway. But 'nough 'bout me an my riverbed of sorrows. I heard you say you needed ta see the shrine. Anything particular you want er lookin for? Er does it have somethin to do with your failed experiment?"
