Rangers had already arrived at Enju, setting up signs and traffic cones as they tried to close down the roads for the night, citing public safety as their highest concern. If the water kept coming, there were worries that amateur trainers would be in danger if they tried to camp outside of town. This time of year, when the rains came, people could only do so much to hold back the tide of nature—a mudslide from the distant mountains was possible. Why take the chance? Let the travelers rest somewhere sheltered and safe. In the morning, they could be on their way.[break][break] That was why Jenna had arrived. Some trainers had to be relocated to a nearby pokemon center for the night. It had been her job to pass out rain ponchos and other supplies for them to use once the roads were cleared. It was a simple task for the young Ranger, but she enjoyed it.[break][break] It felt good to help.[break][break] Once that task was completed, she didn't want to linger. Enju was not her favorite place. The town held a mythical pull–something felt rather than explained. The Ranger had always tried to avoid it, even if that seemed like an impossible task. Too many roads ran through the quiet ghost town. If there was a package to be delivered, it seemed inevitable that she would have to travel through here–like it knew how much she felt unnerved by it.[break][break] And the worst of it was the Burned Tower; the eyesore always managed to catch her gaze. It didn't matter how far or how close, her eyes were always dragged to the burned husk. Jenna understood the significance. She respected the structure. A part of her just wished she didn't have to look at it every time she rode through town.[break][break] Rain drummed on the slanted, shingled houses. Each step, she had to push her bicycle through the mud. A heavy raincoat hung over her shoulders, but it did little to cut the chill. That was why her Houndoom was by her side, radiating a heat that made the water droplets sizzle when they touched her Pokemon.[break][break] Finally, when the task of pushing the bike became too annoying to bear, she came to a halt. The stairs leading up to the Burned Tower were in front of her. A plaque was erected in its honor. She had read it, once.[break][break] It was supposed to be a place that celebrated the bonds between humans and pokemon.[break][break] The smell that wafted from the place still smelled freshly burnt–like the first had only happened moments ago. “Want to check it out?” Jenna breathed a steam that rose from her mouth with every word. The place had attracted her attention for so long. Maybe if she had a look inside, the strange fixation would wane... Jenever, the Houndoom, whined at the suggestion.[break][break] “Oh, come on. Miles wasn't feeling too hot. He'd known she wouldn't be there, she hadn't been in months, but still on Thursday nights he'd still venture out to that club, and order that same drink in hopes of once again laying his eyes on the woman who'd inspired so much hope in him all those months ago. It was a dream of a dream and the man had all but lost faith in her appearances still the man couldn't seem to let go of those moments... her visage, her dancing her feeling. The thought of the woman brought a sour taste to his mouth and noticibly worsened the generally jovial man's mood so much so Wave and the rest of his team found themselves worried for the man. It was in his wandering after venturing out from the playhouse that he found himself led to the Burned Tower by none other than the resident water type on his team.

While Miles had little interest in the region's myths and legends of the sort the burned tower made a good place for training with the variety of odder pokemon that appeared in the once sacred place that and the tower's rougher terrain made even better to train himself a solid place to run through the motions and push his body further. "I gotcha." The trainer would look toward the wartortle at his side who'd already begun to put himself through the motions beginning with his odd variation of pushups. the wide shell on his torso forcing him to work even harder for his workout.

The scarlet haired man would call out two more pokemon before continuing his training each pushing themselves despite the rain the poured through the various holes in the little remaining scaffolding. The center of the room was more like a waterfall massive amount of rain simple falling in the center of the room the rougher edges of the floor allowing the rain to cascade further while Miles and his team remained far on the sides as to prevent getting too wet.

The rain was so loud even the man with his senses so honed couldn't hear the squeak of the newcomer's boots until she made it through the once great hall's massive doors coming eye to eye with the blue haired girl who'd seen more than her fair share of rain.

"Looks like you've had a rough time." The sweaty trainer would push himself off the floor completing a final one armed pushup moving to greet the girl. Dressed only in a tank top and camo pants the sweaty trainer would make his way over. If you're here to escape the storm there are some branching rooms that are more enclosed than others. a little bit more dry than out here in the main hall. Name's Miles." On the comment of the side rooms a door would open from one of the ruin's hallways two pokemon rather aggressive would face down the pokemon wielders more than likely ready for a battle.

If I can't evade my fate
[attr="class","therivmid"] [attr="class","therivmid1"] Each step felt shorter than the next as the stairs rose higher and higher toward the entrance. It was steep and Jenna had to take her time, careful not to slip as the water continued its downpour. The majesty of the Brass Tower had been lost to the fire, but there was still a shadow of what remained. There were charcoal walls that remained standing, held by an unknown force that refused to let this place blow away with the wind.[break][break] “Just one quick look, okay? Then we can run back to the Pokemon Center.” Jenna tried to reassure her pokemon.[break][break] The Houndoom moved closer to her Ranger's side, not taking her words into consideration. The charred ruins exerted a pressure that they could both sense. It seemed like the kind of place that would be overflowing with Ghost-Types. The type of place Jenna had no interest in going to... but something kept her moving. Her curiosity outweighed her concerns. If worse came to worse, at least Jenever was at her side and ready to protect her.[break][break] Ramping the final step, the girl stood at the threshold to the building. The rain persisted, colliding against the plastic rain-poncho she had thrown over her attire. The water spilled right off of her, droplets falling before her face with a steady drip from the tip of the drawn hood.[break][break] With one small step, the Ranger passed over the threshold, staring at the cascade of water that rang as loud as the falls of Tohjo. It was deafening... Slowly, her eyes sweep through the massive space, wondering if anything was waiting in the shadows.[break][break] Red hair. That was the first thing she noticed...and then the man that came with it. Her eyes had been focused at the top of his head, dropping down to take in the sight of the male trainer with his pokemon. Was she interrupting their training?[break][break] Jenever, full of social energy, departed from her trainer's side to greet the trainer's pokemon. She kept a respectful distance, but the excited wiggling would spell out her enthusiasm. The Houndoom was a social butterfly. She liked making friends. “Guess you could say that.” She responded to the man's greeting, snapping her fingers to recall Jenever back to her side. “It's coming down hard.”[break][break] By tomorrow, the rains would be gone. She looked forward to that.[break][break] The Ranger nodded respectfully as Miles spoke of the adjacent rooms. “Jenna. Thanks for the advice.” That sounded like a good idea, if she felt the desire to explore this place. “Wasn't planning on staying for long. Just wanted to pay this place a visit. Figured it'd be best to get it over with while I was taking her out for a walk.” She gestured to her dog before tucking her hands into the pockets of her jeans. “Hope I didn't interrupt anything–”[break][break] And that was when two wild pokemon approached them from one of the far corners. Her Houndoom released a low growl, the water sizzling as it touched her skin. A heat radiated from her that was so intense that Jenna felt the need to step back. “Yeah. I got a few.” She lifted up her poncho just enough to show her belt and the capsules that adorned it.[break][break] Jenever charged, ripping across the distance of the room as her four feet pounded against the creaky floorboards. The Spinarak was her target. Clicking her teeth together in rapid succession –Jenever treated her fangs as if they were flint being dragged across steel. When it created that one spark, that one strike, her mouth caught fire.[break][break] There was no need for her to bite down on the insect. The moment she caught the spider in her jaws, it released a pitched scream that seemed to insight pity from the Houndoom, but the damage had been done. She was quick to drop it, leaving the spider unconscious but not seriously injured.[break][break] It was hard to restrain herself. She interrupted everything... but oftentimes interruptions were blessings in disguise.[break][break]
"You already had your fun for the day, bud give someone else a shot." Eyes shot toward the Wartortle who simply pouted before going back to its own routine face down allowing itself to fall before pushing itself up on its fingertips. If nothing else the turtle was dedicated to his training, more than the trainer himself these days. Not allowing his mind to wander he'd reach for a pokeball calling forth another of his ever so dedicated teammates.[break][break]
Hero would appear from his pokeball the monkey's gaze honing in on the number of strangers lingering not on the skunky but the houndoom particularly. The fire type seemed to have some fight in it and the Monferno seemed more than ready to challenge the creature. Only after properly judging the dog pokemon would the monkey's eyes flicker to his current opponent a skunk that had no business bothering the trainer or fighting type for that matter.[break][break]
"Be easy, be fast. Don't get poisoned. We gotta impress our guest after all aye, hero?" The monkey crouched into a battle position squaring his body off imitating a stance not to different than one of the trainer's. "Lower your knees a bit more and don't let that second hand fall, keep that and you're innit."[break][break]
And so the pokemon was.[break][break]
The approach was fast, too fast. A fist knocking the stunky square in its nose sending it reeling back. Before the stunky could respond to the first attack the monferno had disappeared above the poison type, and just like that it was over. Coating his entire body in flames the monkey would cartwheel down to earth a beautiful meteor ending the battle just as quickly as it began. A short nod to the Monferno and the fighter's focus returned to the trainer.[break][break]
"Quite the interruption, and you brought more than a fair bit of trouble with ya at that, but i'll let it slide, gotta give a cute girl a pass when I get the chance, or I'll regret it later." He'd offer a smile knowing it was just a bit hallow.[break][break]
"Even more, Leave a man alone with his thoughts for too long he'll haf' gone mad 'fore the day's end. Least that's what they say anyways." A light yawn would escape him eyes flickering between the dog and the woman the man taking a knee ever so casually approaching the houndoom. Pulling the backside of his hand out ever so gently as to not alarm the pokemon. If she responded well he'd pat the dog before standing tall once more. "Good girl you got 'ere. strong too I reckon."[break][break]
"Whole lotta history in these walls no one in the damn region'll tell ya different least of all me. Though I hardly know the stories." Scarlet eeyes would move from the sapphire haired woman and to the massive hole in the center eyes focused on the cascading makeshift waterfall.[break][break]
"Never been much for the legends, but the air's different here and it makes for a sight if nothin' else. Even better to share it with company."[break][break]

Training pokemon could be taxing–it seemed as if he was training himself, as well.[break][break] Her eyes focused on his Monferno and then his Wartortle. They both seemed focused; driven. She had her fair share of pokemon that were motivated to battle. She knew the signs. Earlier, the monkey had been fascinated with her Houndoom. Sizing her up? Probably. Some pokemon were always eager to look for the next challenge. The Ranger could respect that.[break][break] When Miles crouched down, Jenever knew what that meant. The Houndoom eagerly approached him, showing no hesitation when he reached out a hand to pet her. Her tail wagged as fast as it could go. Jenna had been hit by the swinging tail before–it stung as if it were a lash. “She's a good girl,” Jenna said as her eyes glanced over to the busted door where the pokemon had emerged. “Doesn't have a bad bone in her body.”[break][break] Despite all the noise, no new pokemon had emerged. The Ranger guessed they were deeper in the compound. “I grew up in the region. I know the stories.” They were the myths she had grown up with.
