The ice path's entire ecosystem changed over the course of the summer. What was once a field of white and blue became earthy and hot brown cave walls now completely taking the cave, even the pokemon ice types that once ruled the cave had fled somewhere else as fire pokemon claimed the ice path its conditions perfect for the fire pokemon. He'd heard many years prior there'd been an ice gym leader who'd prevented the change so ice types could laze and relax year round, but Azad believed a single man having such a large impact on nature wasn't only impossible, but was generally a negative thing as well.
That said Azad hadn't come for the rumors of ancient gym leaders or to mourn the ice type pokemon home, no he'd come to greet and research the new visitors who'd claimed the cave in the warm season. The phenomona wans't exactly his field of study but it was a very curious thing nonetheless and so with a team of six Azad would find himself meandering through the brown-walled earthy cave the heat emanating from the new guests and the small fires that erupted across serving to interest him mildly at the very least.
He'd though to bring vivian or perhaps one of the younger Lore members along for the trip, however not only were many on missions it'd been a minute since Azad had been able to train alone. With the Lore Work and the constant Missions Azad had become rather lax in his solo training and so the man thought what a better way to relay reconnect with his team of powerhouses, those who've guided him since starting this journey than a day or solo training mixed in with his research. It was a more than fair idea to say the least or at least the professor thought as much.

In a flash of light dragonair would appear facing down its adversary in the warm cave. The appearance of the houndoom had been sudden, but it wasn't anything the trainer nor his team couldn't handle. The dog pokemon were said to be particularly violent and weren't always known to fight fair and so Azad would caution the dragon to stay on his guard as they prepared to strike down their battle ready opponent.
The battle wasn't exactly brief but it didn't last terribly long either the Dark type would attack first launching a series of infernos all of which were inaccurate due simply to the nature of the attack the lithe dragon's body curling to avoid he spurts of intense flames unleashing a dragon rage or two itself most missing but one of the burning purple orbs would strike two striking the hound pokemon's side forcing it back a yelp of pain echoing through the unusually warm caverns.
With it's torso injured the houndoom would change strategies using the stones to hop from rock to rock hoping to pull the flying dragon down from where it decided to roost. It jumped fangs bared but bringing it to a physical bout would be the pokemon's final mistake as the dragon's tail would glow a deep blue before slamming the the hound type back to the earth a wave of water releasing itself from the attack completely crushing the hound pokemon knocking it out without question.
With the opponent unconscious dragonair would sink back to its trainer a dark hand quickly finding itself rubbing the neck of his assistant. "You've done well my friend but that's the first of many lets keep up the pace yes?" The dragon type would growl approving of the course of action and with that the team of two would continue forward the fire types of the cavern waiting for a new set of challengers.

If Azad was a betting man he'd bet that he was cursed. Rapidash and its preevolution had seemed to follow him across the region under a multitude of circumstances wherever he went on land the horse pokemon simply had a tendency to be there. It was beginning to aggravate the man but even more it was more unnerving. "Kreiss." The dragon of course would slide up it's lithe body now vertical would face the fire type pokemon ready for a second bout today. The rapidash also didn't seem one to back down and so the battle would begin and end just as quickly.
Much like the pokemon prior an assortment of Infernos would fire from the flaming pokemon's mouth each so carefully avoided by the dragon pokemon as the inaccurate fire attacks flew even Azad would have to move for cover avoiding the flames himself as they landed creating pillars of fire that'd seemingly dissolve against the cave floor given enough time. From behind a warm rock Azad would call his next technique clothes slightly dirtied in his move to defend himself "Dragon Dance." and so the dragon would coil and wrap its body it's muscles expanding as a draconic energy surrounded its body the dragonair becoming more fierce with the passing moments. In the time the dragonair strengthened itself the horse would leap high in the cave prepared to bounce on the Dragon type however the pokemon was too slow and with that tail of his Kreiss would snatch the horse out of the air slamming it to the ground before finishing it with the same technique that'd finished the houndour moments prior. An Aqua Tail sealing the dragon's victory.
With the second enemy knocked unconcious Azad and his partner would continue deeper into the cave for perhaps a final battle.

It was about an hour or so of research before the final pokemon appeared, a monferno with a bone to pick fast hands and even faster feet. The fire type would waste no time challenging Azad squaring off fairly waiting for the trainer to call out a pokemon before springing into action. Kreiss of course was more than willing to accept the monkey's challenge it's lithe body once again stretching itself for a battle admist the warm rocks that surrounded the three.
The three would sit silently until a pebble crashed against the stone floor signaling the start of the battle. The monferno as agressive as it was managed to get the first attack a fist or rather a projection of a massive fist would slam into the dragon forcing the pokemon back more than a few feet as the cockier fighting type kept moving remaining on the balls of his feet. Sadly while fast the monferno wasn't fast enough and soon the pokemon would find an orb of fire and electricity entangled with his chest forcing the monkey pokemon back into a cave wall only managing to disspell the dragon rage with a flame wheel. While the monkey was on the defensive however dragonair found himself with time to recuperate from the fists of fury he'd faced the pokemon would coil that oh-so-familiar draconic energy surrounding its body as muscles tensed and its aura grew fiercer.
When the monkey came for a second attack The dragon pokemon was more prepared bracing its body for the carthweeling firetype the flame wheel striking the dragon's defense. Due to its resistance the attack didn't do terribly much, but still the fire type would persist its offense honestly and truly impressing the silver haired trainer who was facilitating the battle. When the fire type began to lose speed Azad would take advantage of the moment tens of hundreds of battles having finally given him the experience to tell when to and when not to counterattack. "Dragon Rush." In a single movement the dragon pokemon would reel back with its tail slamming into the fire type those same draconic energies now bolstering not only the dragon's attack but it speed as well. The flaming pokemon being forced against the stone wall giving a cry of pain as it fell to a knee. As Kreiss gazed down at the monkey sapphire eyes the pokemon would push himself up from his knee the fires on his back blazing out of control now. Azad's eyes widened as the pokemon went into a mode Azad could only define as 'overdrive' it's entire body and even the area surrounding the monkey would heat up.
With a slide of the pokedex and adjustment of his glasses it'd all make sense.
"Ah... So this is blaze." Arms would return to their folded position eyes centered on the fire pokemon who wouldn't go down like this, not yet. "How curious a thing... We'd do well to stay on our guard. Kreiss." Azad's eyes would shine for a moment as the professor stepped forward to fully give the battle his attention. He'd make sure round two remained short.
"Dragon Dance. You don't have much in you, but neither does our opponent. We'll decide this in one shot."
And so they did.
The Monferno would strike with a flamewheel more devastating than Azad had seen honestly ever the cartwheeling inferno dove towards the man and his pokemon would speed that was more than slightly concerning, but the double dragon dance boosted dragonair would counter with a move the monkey didn't have a chance of standing against. "Aqua Tail." The lithe tail would meet the flaming pokemon only for a wave of water to sprout from the technique completely smothering the monkey's flames leaving it finally unconscious. That said, Azad was more than impressed with the pokemon's prowess and as such the monferno would find a great ball landing against his chest.
