{  } Seeing as she'd given him the luxury of being able to contact her directly, Derek hit up the number on his contacts belonging to Ava; a fellow trainer he'd met back in the Cliff Edge Gate's cavern, or something like that. All he could truly remember was that it was dark in there, and she seemed to be in a hurry. Hitting her inbox with a message inquiring what city she was in, he was pleasantly surprised they weren't that far away from one another. This was yesterday. Requesting they meet halfway, Derek arrived here early with everything needed on his person to go battle, or even capture some wild pokemon. Expecting Ava to do the same while also hoping she'd show up on time, meaning soon, he stood in wait at the top of the downhill plains simply clicking his foot against the ground. The sound of gravel being kicked up emanated from the lone trainer as he continued waiting patiently on his...acquaintance? Derek honestly didn't know what to think of her as... think of her as a stranger.
when she received a text message yesterday inquiring where she was, she thought it best to just ignore him. but, she wanted to gloat. to revel in her success. so she replied, and he replied, and now she's on her way to their meeting point.
he's already there by the time she arrives. she greets him with a simple wave. "are you ready?" three pokeballs line her belt. she's more prepared than last time, and she hopes to put up a fierce battle today.
"let's go."

{ } With Ava finally having arrived, Derek was swift to begin trekking downhill just as she had mentioned they should get moving. He seemed sort of put off by the fact she didn't seem to care for any formalities, but he supposed that thing wasn't her strong suit. At the very least, she seemed to have more pokeballs decorating her belt than last time. But before he could point that out in any way, the wild pokemon had yet again sprung upon them, leaving Derek at a temporary loss for words. Reflexively reaching for a pokeball of his own, the trainer released his Scyther, Valeria, to take on the approaching Phanpy. "Alright girl, start with Focus Energy." Keeping an eye on Ava's battle with the Taillow to see if she'd start with something new, he felt pretty comfortable when their opponent utilized Defense Curl instead of going for an outright attack on the first move. This allowed them to have the first chance to go on the offensive, Derek recommending an "Air Slash." to his pokemon. The move didn't seem to hurt the Phanpy all that much, but at the very least it appeared to flinch. Proving unwilling or unable to do anything in response while it got back on it's feet, the trainer suggested the same in hopes of furthering Valeria's chances of getting through the first battle uninjured. "One more time. Give it all you've got."The second Air Slash had not proven so lucky as to flinch the Phanpy again, but it did seem to be a critical hit. The Phanpy writhed in pain, struggling among the ground before resorting to a distressed Growl. "Finish'em, and be quick about it." Taking her trainer's wishes into consideration, the Scyther utilized her Quick Attack to silence the Phanpy and it's annoying cries. "Let's give Ava a second before we keep moving." another bird. another fucking bird. it's becoming apparent she can't run away from them; every route she visits she encounters one. it's almost too much of a coincidence at this point, but she refuses to believe she's cursed by the avian gods.
derek starts his battle with a phanpy. she pays him no attention as she calls out her doublade; his body glows and reflects in the sunlight. "ukko, the bird." she gestures at the taillow.
"no mercy."
ruthless. deadly. that's what she demands from her doublade as she waits. the taillow is outmatched in every form imaginable. it closes its eyes, FOCUSing its ENERGY into the attack. suddenly, it closes the distance with a QUICK ATTACK, ramming itself into ukko. he doesn't even wince at the nonexistent damage.
one SWORDS DANCE. one SLASH. the bird doesn't stand a chance. ukko doesn't even bother separating himself because he knows it's a battle he's won. only one side of him slides out of his sheathe, floating aimlessly for moments before slashing forward. the tip of his blade slices at the bird, and if that isn't enough, he follows it up by crashing into it. the bird's sent flying, though not in a way it's familiar with, towards some bushes.
it crashes through, breaking branches as it lands with a solid thud. it's unresponsive, though not visible from where the trainers are standing. which is a good thing, because it's fucking dead. deceased. its body almost sliced in half by the sheer strength of doublade. it lays on the ground, blood oozing out of its tiny body. someone will find it. it just won't be them.
"easy."
ava compliments ukko and steps over to derek, pointing at his scyther. "that's new. what happened to your dragon?" the gible. she remembers it fondly.

{ } Derek inquired, noticing that Ava had come over to inspect his pokemon. Or rather, the fact it wasn't the one she had seen him use to battle last time. "Oh, you mean Kseniya; My Gible. Or well, actually..." Fetching the specific pokeball from it's holster, Derek held it up between the two of them and clicked upon the device so that the orb would grow larger. "She's in here. Valeria needs training more than her as it stands right now. Here, have a look for yourself..."Allowing his other pokemon to manifest, Ava would come to know that his Gible had actually evolved. The Gabtie currently sniffed the air and looked around rather aggressively, looking back to Derek and Ava with disappointment written on her face when she realized there wasn't anything there that she could battle. "Heh...she's become a lot more hostile as of late. Not towards people, though. But now that she's visibly stronger, she wants to test her new form's limits. It's actually a hassle finding opponents strong enough to match her." Reaching for and pulling out another pokemon, Derek held it between them similarly to the last. "I actually picked up another dragon pokemon recently; An Axew. I don't know what to name them yet, but I was thinking Excalibur. I was planning to have them battle with Kseniya, but I am not too sure if that's a good idea."Latching the pokeball containing the Axew back into it's holster, Derek slipped the unoccupied ball for Ksenyia into his pocket before looking to his pokemon. "You both can roam free for now. Just don't go too far, I'll need your help soon enough." And just like that, it became very obvious just how aggressive the Gabite was. Ksenyia immediately began stalking up ahead in search of prey, meanwhile his Scyther, Valeria, stayed by her trainer's side. MADE BY VEL OF GS + WW |

it's not a gible anymore. she peers at it with curiosity, watching it as it swivels its head as if searching for its prey. how aggressive. she likes it. "i have an opponent for her, if you want." she has an opponent the dragon will lose to, but she keeps that fact to herself.
thunder cracks, calling for her attention; she gives it in full, head tilting up at the dark clouds that loom. it forms out of nowhere and gathers just as quickly. there's no way to prevent the inevitable rainfall from pouring, but the least she can do is prepare herself for it.
a single droplet falls onto her arm, staining as it splashes. more follows. she doesn't move from her spot, not even to find shelter. she simply accepts it and looks for the cause of the sudden downpour because she knows it wasn't naturally formed. something caused it to form.
then, she sees it out of the corner of her eye: a quagsire; its dumb, placid face makes it stick out. it smiles at her, and she smiles back but only out of courtesy. "ukko. over there." she whispers as to not startle it. it's dumb, but she has a need for dumb things sometimes.
ukko quietly floats over, approaching the water-type. he engages in a SWORDS DANCE that enchants the quagsire, freezing it in place as it looks on in admiration. it claps its hands by the end of it and for whatever reason, that's what gets to her.
"stop."
her voice ceases ukko's attack; just in time, too, as he was about to SLASH away at it. he slides himself back into his sheathe, lowering himself to match quagsire's height. sighing, she walks over to it. when had she become sympathetic? it's a sign of weakness; she knows it but she can't help it. she kneels down next to it and offers it her hand, palm facing upwards. it grabs her hand with both its hands and brings it above his head, placing it right atop.
it's wet and slimy, but it's cute. she rolls her eyes and pulls out a great ball, tapping it against the nose of the quagsire. she knows it wants to come with her.

{ } With another pair of pokemon revealing themselves to the two trainers, Derek observed Ava tasking herself with the Quagsire while his Gabite provoked the Glameow by roaring at it. Realizing how aggressive she was being, Derek used a pokeball to recall her so that his Scyther could fight. That's who he came here intending to train, after all. An onslaught of Fury Swipes would befall Derek's Scyther, Valeria, as the Glameow came within proximity. It didn't seem to bother her much, however. Instead she allowed the attack to go uninterrupted until it was time for her to utilize the attack Derek soon requested of her. "Vacuum Wave." Watching Valeria for a moment as she realized they were skipping the usual routine of powering up with Focus Energy, Derek smiled when he watched the attack collide directly into the Glameow with devastating results. She was getting stronger, and it made him glad. There were other pokemon in his care that needed tending to; especially in the form of training. After the Glameow stood back up on all fours and dished out another Fury Swipes, Derek simply waved his hand at their adversary rather than state any kind of command. Valeria was more than capable of understanding the gesture, and immediately winded back for another swift use of her Vacuum Wave. The wild Glameow didn't seem to hold up too well at that point. Falling flat onto it's face and belly with it's curled tail barely staying up due to it's design, Derek was confident his pokemon had knocked it out cold. Taking notice now that Ava had captured a pokemon, Derek used his own pokeball to retrieve his Scyther. "Nice catch." He remarked, wondering about the typing advantages of the Quagsire. "Guess you'll be needing to get them to a pokemon center soon. I'll be going ahead to scout out some new areas. You take care and all of that.
