She could sense the disapproval within the combee as the two trekked further down the path, more so when she was forced to slow her own steps to wait for her dear companion to keep decent pace with her– she had always been the defiant type and while frustrating, Morgana found herself admiring the trait. [break][break]

“I understand the reluctance, but we have a whole new world to explore and think about it this way...” She whisked around on the base of her heels, a small smile tugging at her pale lips as she faced her little combee, “The more we explore now, the less we have to worry about in the future.” Morgana promptly explained, her hands soon clasping together as she peered over with wide begging eyes– maybe guilt would have its effect on Queenie. [break][break]

There was a small rumble of disapproval from Queenie as the two stood at an abrupt standstill, wings fluttering against the slight rolling winds of the flower brimmed fields– it wasn’t the concept of adventure that had her disgruntled, it was the mere concept of having to share someone. [break][break]

“Oh come on, we came so far and–” Her words would soon be cut short as Queenie suddenly buzzed past her in an unexpected frenzy of movement. Before Morgana could even retort to the sudden change of heart, her eyes would soon be met with a machop standing in their path; how its red eyes looked disapprovingly at their duo. [break][break]

As cute as the machop had seemed, it was certainly not a candidate she was interested in enrolling onto their future team; at least for now, “Alright Queenie, use sweet scent to catch them off guard!” She would prompt, her hand extending out towards their opponent. [break][break]

It would not take too long for Queenie to rumble as a flurry of pink seemed to envelope the machop. Morgana almost gasped at the action, a small smile settling onto her lips when it seemed that the move had hit. Though, it would not take long for it to retaliate; the machop attempting to land a hit with low kick.[break][break]

However, despite the bluntness of the attack, it would not tick much damage off of Queenie; the smile soon faltered on Morgana’s lip, “Alright Queenie, let’s make them pay! Hit them with Gust!” She would soon instruct, her eyes narrowing as Queenie worked her wings to send a flurry of wind to the machop.[break][break]

Another landed hit and the machop appeared to stumble backwards at the super effective attack, momentarily attempting to retaliate with leer to raise its own defenses. Though the damage was already done, as the machop fell unconscious to the attack.[break][break]

There was a sense of relief that flooded her when the small battle had concluded and Queenie emerged fine– laughter would soon bubble past her lips as she looked at the combee, “You did such a fantastic job!” Morgana would praise, her once slightly soured mood perking up in a matter of a few minutes. Though, she did hope that the poor machop would be fine once they left. [break][break]

It would not take her long to motion Queenie to follow her lead as she moved past the unconscious pokemon to embark further down the trail, blue eyes far more weary than they had been prior to the battle. While it was an opportunity to start out fresh in a land she was unfamiliar with, she was still determined to find just one pokemon that could fit nicely into a team she imagined. [break][break]

Despite such an expansive route with little trees, she did admire the plethora of colors from the flowers that seemed to grow on the hills; that was a beauty all its own though she hoped that she would run into something a little more appealing than the pokemon she had encountered. It was all wishful thinking however, when her eyes graced a decent sized tyrogue. Next time.[break][break]

“Looks like you’ll be putting in a lot of work today, Queenie. Use Gust.” Morgana whispered underneath her breath. It was exciting to see her companion grow in strength though it was hard to push aside the fear– there was such a small kit at her disposal. Yet, it would not take long for Queenie to buzz her wings with the semblance of strength she had before as she attempted to send a sudden hit of air towards the opposing pokemon.[break][break]

Caught off guard, the tyrogue would stumble forward upon the impact and flinch at the damage the move had inflicted before it would turn around to retaliate by slamming into Queenie with a tackle causing the small bug type to wince at the sudden hit. Yet, there was only so much she could do as Morgana urged the combee to send another gust attack towards the tyrogue; she was at least pleased to know that her dear Queenie had a type advantage against the wild pokemon.[break][break]

She was almost certain the attack would take its toll on the tyrogue and it had, as it fell unconscious just the same as the pokemon they faced before. However, Queenie did receive quite a beating from the both of them as her health just sat barely over half once the battle had been said and done. It was something Morgana had to keep an eye on should the two run into another threat like the previous two.[break][break]

The atmosphere laid quiet between them once the small battle had ended, how the poor tyrogue would lay unconscious against the flowers of the field and how the mood of her Combee would soon dive as she fluttered away from her previous opponent. She had been working hard to make sure that Morgana would at least be safe until both of them could properly catch a break, especially over an adventure that she wasn’t particularly interested in unlike her trainer; it was the last thing she wanted to do.[break][break]

However, she would eventually turn her small honeycomb shaped body to face the woman when Morgana had come running to check on the well-being of her companion; eyes carefully glancing over the majority of the body before an eventual sigh of relief, “Fantastic as always, thank you.” Morgana praised once more, she did not want her own excitement to be the downfall of a pokemon she held dear to her heart– there was always another day if they had to.[break][break]

The tension air seemed to ease at the point, the pent up friction between the two relaxing when Morgana urged for Queenie to follow her further down the trail; her attention no longer focused on any potential allies, instead, they were fixated on simply finding a decent route over to the next planned checkpoint. She didn’t plan on having Queenie constantly fight through everything today especially so close together, a break was well deserved.[break][break]

Yet, it was wishful thinking for the most part once a shadow had emerged from the brush– the two having cut a decent amount of time from their sidetracked travel. It would not take long for Morgana to slide to an abrupt stop, the slight heels of her shoes kicking up a small amount of dirt at the abrupt action. Before she could even urge Queenie away from their third opponent, the small pokemon had insistently rushed defensively before her without second thought.[break][break]

“Queenie, there’s no need–” Morgana would attempt to coax, though there was no time to complete her sentence when the Makuhita moved to hit Queenie with a sudden arm thrust; forcing the bug type to flutter backwards at the abrupt impact the move had done. Though, in no time, Queenie had defiantly buzzed back to her original position.[break][break]

“Alright then– Queenie, use sweet scent!” The instruction had came out uncertain at first, though it was enough charge for the Combee to create a flurry of pink around the enemy pokemon; their face lapsing in a momentary confusion at the passive move before rushing over to slam its stout body into Queenie with a tackle.[break][break]

The two moves had lowered Queenie’s health state below half at this point though it was not enough to raise concerns as Morgana prompted the honeycomb pokemon to retaliate with a well deserved gust– the move just as effective as it been before against the other two fighting types. Though something forced Morgana to hesitate as the Makuhita focused its energy after the harsh hit gust had done.[break][break]

“Queenie, hold off for a minute dear.” She glanced at her pokemon, there was something charming about the Makuhita and she was too scared that another gust would knock the poor thing unconscious. Instead, she rummaged through her bag to pull out a pokeball and carefully tossed the ball on the decently low health pokemon... [break][break]
