of mystery quickly melts away, the ice sweating as a fiery breath briefly masks their opponent's face. the swirl of flame fades away to reveal a handsome muzzle. the growlithe barks. the peaks of ice surrounding them resonate with the creature's territorial warning. this domain is hers, it says. but it's out of place. the ice path instead shies away from the mutt in rivulets that pool like sewage beneath its feet.[break][break] his hand pulls away. although the dog is female, it's nothing he hasn't seen before. wallets seldom open for fire puppies as of late. their trend had quieted years ago. imports are now in style. exclusivity means more when you can walk it.[break][break] this instead presents an advantageous training opportunity. the click of a button summons his squirtle. hit by the frigid air, the squirtle whines. it's cute. but there's no time for cooing or complaints as the growlithe bounds forward, canines shining bright with flame ( fire fang). the sudden rise of temperature dulls the icy stalagmites. cold knives with nub tips.[break][break] "slide back— then water gun." cooper instructs after a whistle.[break][break] squirtle's thick feet stumble back. it's a clumsy maneuver, but enough to provide space for the soak. while the water spews forward, the turtle slides on the icy flooring. she trips on to her white belly, and suddenly, her blue limbs, head and tail disappear into the helmet ( withdraw). she does not see the growlithe recoil with its steaming fangs. the path is soggy, patterned with puddles.[break][break] using her momentum, squirtle ricochets off a nearby wall like a curling rock. with enough spin, she knocks into the growlithe's limbs. the legs collapse in sets. first the front, then the back as she passes through cleanly. the growlithe attempts to regain its footing, but cooper whistles again.[break][break] the ice chimes. the water spills. squirtle evolves.[break][break] word count: 336[break] squirtle gains 2 levels to 16 and [attr="class","anotherwayimg"] [attr="class","anotherwayright"] [attr="class","anotherwayrighticon"][attr="class","ion-android-globe"] [attr="class","anotherwayline"] [attr="class","anotherwaypost"] [attr="class","anotherwaypost2"] [break][break] a light lures cooper from the traveled path. the haunting pulse... like a flickering candlelight... does not repulse him. instead, it pokes and prods at the morbid curiosity as a hooked finger gesturing to a child. it's darker here in this wide cavern vein. but cooper feels confident. wartortle has matured upon evolution. she's more calm, or so she thinks.[break][break] she gasps and fires a haphazard hydro pump upon realizing their manipulative guide is a will-o-wisp. the light fades away in a poof of steam which acts as a rising curtain for their next challenger.[break][break] a vulpix. the ice has already melted in parts here, no doubt a consequence of its predatory lure. its eyes glow menacingly, like an anglerfish's filament looming ominously in the deep dark.[break][break] the dark is illuminated once more by the fox's confuse ray. cooper's eyes tighten at the exposure, but he barks an order to which the wartortle complies. she leaps into the air and withdraws her limbs rapidly, using the momentum to spin her shelter like a centrifuge. the shell hits the ground at an angle, causing it to swerve and knock around the corners like an arcade's pinball machine. cooper has to leap twice. once more and he would be wearing overalls.[break][break] the fox is overwhelmed. the movements are too erratic, and in a fit of frustration, she flame bursts. like a bomb after detonation, the world screams nuclear white. the melting cavern walls shed their crystalline skin which sloughs off like waterfalls. wartortle's shell is singed, but it has and will face worse traumas. after all, what is a shell for? she pops out like a magician's trick, and with a coordinator's flair, floods the room with another clumsy hydro pump. cooper stands back, stays dry.[break][break] the resulting flush reveals the wartortle's triumph.[break][break] word count: 307[break] squirtle gains 2 levels!
