"I swear I've got to get this thing a new battery..."[break][break] After deciding the damned thing wasn't going to do what she wanted, Natalia shoved her Dex into her pocket and released her Poochyena. This had worked the last time she got lost, so why wouldn't it work this time? As Poochyena popped out, Natalia smiled at her and bent down, giving the cutie a pet to her head and scratching behind her ears and under her muzzle as she explained herself to her pup.[break][break] "So, I've gotten myself lost. I charged the Dex, but apparently, the battery is dying... I've really got to get it fixed... think you can help me out though?" Without hesitation, the pup barked happily and turned in circles. She started to sniff the air and immediately took off, giving a bark as she did so.[break][break] "Alright? Was I that close to an exit this whole time??" Natalia darted off after her pup. "Oh no, wait, hey!" Last time this happened she nearly chomped down on something she shouldn't of, so Natalia wanted to make sure her Poochyena didn't try and attack somebody else. "We don't bite people, Poochyena! We've been through this!!"[break][break] got herself lost oops

Okay, what the hell did he get himself into this time?!Damian, due to him having almost no sense of direction, had wandered into a cave…and proceeded to get himself fucking lost. What made this worse was the fact that since the place was so damned dark, he didn’t have a source of light on him! Even if he wanted to ask Zarya to help him out, he knew that she didn’t have Flash in her move set and that they were going to be stuck fumbling around in the dark for a while. Thankfully, he wasn’t too scared of the dark. He just berated himself in the back of his mind for wandering around with completely no sense of direction. What made this even worse was the fact that outside of Mike helping him get around Unova back when they were in the region for their studies (and his sense of direction in Hoenn, ironically, was infallible) he was completely and utterly…useless without a map. He then fished out his Pokénav and turned it on, watching as the dim screen lit up—before he hissed a few moments later and remembered that his map card was still stuck in a Hoenn configuration, and that the card that he needed so that the damned thing would adapt to the Johto region still hadn’t arrived! What the actual hell?! Huffing to himself, as he then shut the thing off and regretfully pocketed it, he continued to shuffle around the dark, damp area in an attempt to get himself out of the place—at least, until he felt something collide with his foot. “Whoa!” he yelped, squinting down and trying to pick out just what the hell had crashed into him. He could hear panting from somewhere around his knees—but he was pretty certain that it wasn’t his Ralts, as she was still hiding away in her containment unit until she was absolutely needed out on the battlefield. “Uhm… h—hello?” he called out, still squinting in the dark. The last thing she needed to do was lose the Poochyena she'd just caught. She was only just starting to get the hang of battles! Poor girl. Though as she assumed, the little pup was agiler in all the rocks and twists of the cave and Natalia was honestly a giant compared to her, so Natalia ended up having to stop to get out a flashlight from her bag. She flicked it on and started toward where she'd last heard the pup. "Poochyena!"[break][break] When Poochyena found something, she'd went to chew on it but it kicked her! She nearly yelped, until the offending one yelped first. What, was she, was she really, was she really that fat? As hands extended toward her she didn't hesitate to GROWL at whoever it was- no wait. The dark-type's attack died out and she sniffed at the thing she'd caught wind of. Flowers. Well, strange, she'd thought that would lead them out. The smell of flowers usually did it. Huh, this person was the one who smelled of flowers.[break][break] The sound of her trainer's voice bounded through the cave and Poochyena didn't hesitate to bark, moving toward Natalia's words. Once Poochyena saw the light of her trainer, she barked yet again.[break][break] Hearing Poochyena's barks had Natalia letting out a breath of air. "Oh good." She laughed before bending down and scooping the pup up. "You can't just run off on me like that, I'm not as tiny as you I can't keep up." She played with the canine's ears before looking up to the man who Poochyena had found.[break][break] "Oh... hello. I'm so sorry! I think Poochyena thought you smelled like outside. She's still young. Gets her scents mixed up." Natalia apologized before ignoring the chewing on her hand since she'd obviously offended Poochyena's delicate sensibilities toward her sense of smell. Standing, Natalia held out her not chewed on hand. "I'm sorry if she caused you trouble, I'm Natalia, this is my Poochyena."[break][break] natalia found a space nerd!

Thankfully, the thing that Damian had bumped into didn’t attack him—in fact he was extremely surprised at the reaction of what he thought was a Poochyena (from the sound of the bark) before it barked and bounded away from where he stood, still fumbling around in the dark. Wait, don’t leave…me, he thought as he then squinted ahead of him. Due to the sheer pitch in the cave, he couldn’t see much of anything—at least until someone showed up with a flashlight and offering apologies in his direction. “Oh, was it the smell of sunflowers?” he began, finally managing to pick out the outline of a female individual who now had said Poochyena in her hands. “I’m sorry if I confused your companion,” he added a few moments later, breathing out a sigh of relief. At least the Poochyena didn’t bite him. Whew. “No, no, your companion didn’t. In fact they helped me find you at least…” he continued a few moments later, taking the other’s offered hand and returning the gesture. “I’m Damian. And… I don’t want to admit it, but I’m lost. Do you know where the exit is?” he said by way of introduction. Curse him and his fucked-up sense of direction. That, and his Hoenn-configured Pokénav. Damn it. She'd have hated if she had a bleeding person to take care of. A cute bleeding person... oh, but he was probably gay or taken. Natalia tried to convince herself not to try and persuade him otherwise. Why? Because honestly, who wouldn't want to give this cutie a wink and kiss or two? He was timid and that really made her want to make him blush.[break][break] "I'm relieved. She's just addicted to nibbling on things and I wouldn't blame her for thinking you're a cute snack!" The compliment to his looks was given with a wink that was probably missed in the dark. After setting Poochyena down on the ground, Natalia pointed her light at the little cutie and watched her jump and bounce through the rocks.[break][break] "As far as a way out, I think Poochyena's got something." Natalia had just about started off after Poochyena, but she held out her hand to the stranger and gave a smile. "Let's not get separated, hm?"[break][break] Whether he took her hand or not, she would start after her Poochyena. A few noises of bodies contact alerted Natalia that Poochyena had gotten into a squabble. When she moved the beam of light from her flashlight over to the bodies, she could see her Poochyena engaged in a battle against a Diglett. So young, the Diglett. After letting out a SCRATCH the Diglett tried to withdraw his head but Poochyena was too quick. She TACKLEd the Diglett again and it withdrew into the dirt. A SAND ATTACK came out of the hole, but Poochyena wasn't close enough by the hole to get the spray of dirt. She sniffed and put her ear to the ground. Hearing the direction he'd be coming, she ran toward the hole and TACKLEd the Diglett as it surfaced. With a cry, the Diglett gave a small lecture and then disappeared into his holes. Poochyena stood triumphantly over the mound of dirt that was once a Diglett and snorted. Didn't take much to make that Diglett runoff. Ha![break][break] Natalia grinned at her pooch. He wasn’t used to receiving compliments from people other than Mike, mostly because of his internal self-confidence issues. This then caused his ears to suddenly burn a bright red—well, if they were outside this cave she’d see that his ears had suddenly flushed a bright shade of red and he’d be hiding his face deeper into his scarf. Thankfully, the darkness prevented her from (mostly) seeing his embarrassment, and he quickly spoke up to skate over the potentially awkward silence building up, “At least your companion’s sensible enough not to attack random people he meets… I’ve seen Poochyena who just go nuts whenever someone approaches their owner and they mean no harm,” he began, before nodding at Natalia’s suggestion. “It’s best we do stick together…I’ve been stuck in here for a while without a light source, and my Pokénav is running low on power,” he continued, before he heard something—which had actually collided with his foot. “Ow! What was that?!” he yelped, looking around and squinting in the darkness. While he couldn’t see too much, he could at least discern the outline of something that had smacked into him, before bouncing back and rolling away. “Okay that’s it, you take charge,” he muttered as he popped his lone Pokéball to full size and sent out his Ralts, Zarya. “Be careful around it. It already hit my foot,” he continued, massaging his left shin while trying not to lose his balance in the process. Without further ado, the Ralts then opened fire with a Psychic attack, forcing the Phanpy backwards. Hearing a squeal of surprise, Damian then squinted in the darkness, and could barely pick up the outline of his Ralts not too far ahead. The Phanpy then charged forward with a Tackle attack; but before it could literally bowl itself into the dual-type, it had disappeared with a quick Teleport—but unfortunately this proved to be a mistake as the Phanpy kept charging before eventually crashing into Damian’s other foot. “Ow!” he yelped, now hopping around on the spot as both his legs had been rammed into by the Ground-type, before the Phanpy used Defense Curl to build up its defenses. A slight popping noise signaled the return of his Ralts, before he picked out what appeared to be a Magical Leaf attack charging right at the Phanpy who was heading back at the Ralts again with another Tackle attempt. As the Ground-type ended up hitting thin air once again (while being pelted with leaves at the same time), another Psychic attack then slammed into the Ground-type’s head as it rolled off in the opposite direction. The Ralts reappeared nearby, before sending another Magical Leaf attack at the Phanpy—charging again with another Tackle attack but getting smacked with a second round of the mystical leaves which Damian didn’t know how his companion had summoned up. Eventually, one last Psychic attack forced the Phanpy backwards into the darkness, squealing and grumbling all the while. A soft weight then settled itself atop Damian’s head, before he realized who it was. “Well, if you insist,” he said to his Ralts, who’d settled herself in his fluffy hair. Natalia, sure enough, wasn't able to see the embarrassment, but she could hear it. She knew a cute blush when she heard one. Poochyena had just about moved on when she heard the commotion of the battle between the Ralts and... well and something else. With a yipe of a bark, Poochyena moved closer to watch. Natalia had shone the light toward the battle just long enough to see the end.[break][break]
"What a talented little cutie you've got there." Natalia pointed out in a soft tone while she made her way through the cave. "Oh," her eyes turned to Damian as she heard him get hit again. "Oh dear. You're getting badgered, aren't you?" She pointed out while bending down. "It's alright, stop budging." She complained while looking over a bit of Damian's leg to make sure it would be alright. She didn't want him getting an infection.[break][break]
After a few moments, she gave Damian's leg a squeeze. "It'll bruise," she informed him. "But they're just surface scratches. You'll be alright until you can get home and disinfect them." Her warm smile was still in place until she heard it.[break][break]
Poochyena started barking, a low GROWL echoing through the cave. Seemed as though the rock formation that had been disrupted was part of a Nosepass' resting place. It HARDENED itself in an attempt at defense against the Poochyena, but Natalia knew that neither of her Pokemon was cut out to do much damage to the Nosepass. Oh, but wait, there it was. There were leaves lodged into the Nosepass. It seemed as if it were more irritated than it was ready to lay into somebody.[break][break]
"I'm sorry," Natalia offered, but the Nosepass simply came at her with a TACKLE. Poochyena countered the attack with a TACKLE of her own and although it didn't do much, the Nosepass was already weak from the Magical Leaf that Damian's Ralts had let loose just earlier. "We're moving on," Natalia tried to tell the Nosepass who was beginning to get the hint and slink away. "We're moving on, we're moving out." Natalia motioned for Damian to move before her so that they could get a bit further from the angry Nosepass, not knowing what the move arsenal of the Rock-type looked like.[break][break]
Poochyena continued her GROWL and once the Nosepass was out of sight and away from them, she followed the two trainers, lagging behind the two. Her ears picked up on something and she barked, another movement within the rocks alerting her to the presence of another wild Pokemon within the cave.[break][break]
"What a terrible idea, not having a water type on my team." She frowned, scolding herself before looking to Damian. "Think she can get a fix on whatever's out there for us?"[break][break]

“I’m going to need a lot of ice for this, it rammed both my legs,” Damian began with a sigh. His right leg was hurting more than his left—mostly because that was the leg that the Phanpy had tackled in the dark earlier, and then took a deep breath as Natalia inspected his legs for injuries. Thankfully, nothing was open—but he could only imagine the monster-sized bruises that he’d see when they got out of the cave. Atop his head, the Ralts preened at the complement, before waving a short, stubby arm in the direction of the female’s voice. It didn’t take too long before they heard another loud racket, and they’d barely avoided a very angry (possibly territorial) wild Pokémon in the dark. But they weren’t exactly out of danger yet. As they continued to proceed through the cave, he felt the familiar weight suddenly lift itself up from his head and suddenly fired off a Psychic attack at some random direction. Damian was about to ask his Ralts if she was alright, when a few moments later a loud squealing noise caught his attention. “How…how did you know where that was?” he asked the dual-type, who was now balancing herself atop his hair, and he felt the fine hairs on the back of his neck stand up as the dual-type then fired off another Psychic attack in the direction of the noise that the other had picked up on. Sometimes it sucked that humans didn’t have the much more sensitive hearing that Pokémon had, so he was left to trying to look up at his Ralts, who was now perfectly balanced atop the very center of his head and firing off Psychic bombs one after another in the rough direction of where the Omanyte was scuttling about, trying to pick out where the attacks were coming from. The Ralts was crafty, though. Staying balanced atop her companion’s head was easier for her in her small form, and more multi-colored rainbow ‘bombs’ of energy (or at least that’s what Damian normally perceived them to be) went flying into the darkness up ahead. Eventually, said scuttling noise vanished into the darkness of the cave. “Did you just really use me as a sniping tower?” he asked his Ralts a few moments later, who’d resettled herself down in his fluffy hair and continued to act as his second pair of eyes in the dark. It was the strangest thing, watching the Ralts quite literally snipe from its trainer's head. But honestly? Natalia couldn't have been any more amused. She wanted to pat the Ralts, but understood that psychic Pokemon didn't usually so much like the touching as they did the thought behind the matter, so she'd settle with that and a verbal confirmation. "Well done, little Ralts." She couldn't help how a light smile formed and she looked to the trainer, pointing the flashlight toward the ground near their feet. "You'll be alright, just have to get to the nearest center and have a nurse look you over to be sure." With a small smile, she looked toward Poochyena to confirm that they should move forward.[break][break]
Once a bit further, Natalia could see small trees and the like around them. They were just little shrubs that mostly grew in the darkness, but they were enough to hold a Nincada, apparently. Poochyena had sniffed the tree a bit before suddenly a claw came out and SCRATCHed the poor pup. She let out a yelp before BITEing down on the claw that had attacked her. The Nincada within hissed and then latched out onto the Poochyena, ABSORBing energy from the dark type. Poochyena reeled around before finding a tiny limb of the Nincada's near her mouth and BITEing again. That seemed to detach the bug, causing it to hiss and crawl away from the pup. It's body started to glow with a HARDEN, to which the Poochyena just braced itself and TACKLEd the bug. Its claws dug into the ground and with the new dirt loose around it's claws, it dug into the ground and flicked a SAND ATTACK into the Poochyena's eyes.[break][break]
"How does she manage to find these things? It's just our luck." Natalia huffed, watching as the up and bug had a small battle.[break][break]
The attack to her eyes had Poochyena yelping and pawing at her face, GROWLing in an attempt to keep up the facade that she was being tough. The Nincada countered with a SCRATCH as it tried to latch onto the Poochyena's body, but Poochyena opened her jaws to BITE down on the Nincada, causing it to flinch and fall off. Once it did, Poochyena TACKLEd the bug again. It rolled out of the viewpoint and Poochyena snorted at the bug as it scurried away.[break][break]
"Well done, Poochyena." Natalia gave a smile before frowning. "I really need to come up with a name-" Natalia's words were cut off by a chopping noise, which had her shifting to look at Damian and then to Poochyena. Yep, she hadn't imagined it, that noise had actually happened. But what was it?

Damian could only groan. “Oh no, not them again,” was all he could say before the Ralts riding atop his head perked up and warped away from her comfortable spot with Teleport. Turning to his companion, he then began to explain. “See, I’ve been looking for a Riolu since the moment I got here. I’m practically a permanent fixture on Route 29 at this point, due to the sheer number of Fighting-types in the area. My Ralts has a bit of a rep among the Fighting-types that call the place their ‘home’, if you can’t tell,” he trailed off before hearing the very distinct cries of a Machop. Squinting into the darkness, he called out, “Zarya, you know how to deal with that, right?” before hearing a Machop’s sudden squeal of pain. He took a guess that his Ralts had already begun its favored tactic of warping around the darkness with Teleport and taking great pleasure with attacking the Fighting-type with Psychic rainbow ‘bombs’. Over in the semi-darkness, the Machop continued with a Focus Energy, psyching itself up before charging forward with a Karate Chop attack. It ended up hitting thin air, before another Psychic attack hit it from behind—the Ralts had appeared behind it with a popping noise a few moments later. A Magical Leaf attack followed not too long afterward, and that caused the Machop to resort to using its Foresight technique in order to keep an eye on where the Ralts was going next. As the dual-type then warped around again with Teleport, the Fighting-type then moved in a certain direction, catching the Ralts the moment it appeared in a Low Kick attack. A squeal of anger came from the Ralts, who then countered the attack with a point-blank Psychic attack to the Machop’s face. Back where Damian and Natalia were headed (hopefully towards the exit), he then heard his Ralts’ squeal of surprise. “…she hates getting hit, which is why she prefers Teleport a lot…” he added, resisting the urge to smack a palm to his forehead and drag it down his face. Back at the battlefield, the Ralts had fired off several more Magical Leaf attacks at the Machop, who’d managed to keep track of where she was headed thanks to the Foresight it had done earlier. Several more Psychic attacks drove the Fighting-type back into the darkness, before Damian felt a familiar weight settle atop his head again. “Well, I hope we’re out of this cave… I hate going through dark places without a Fire-type at the very least… also, have you decided on what name to give your companion?” he asked her a few moments later, raising his right hand up to give the Ralts a pat on her head.
