Mission Title: Flexing Your Greenthumb Mission Location: Route 38 Mission Description: "Looking for something easy? You're in luck. I need a few agents to make their way to a place known as Aratama Pond to gather spores. The efforts of enviromentalists have rendered the polluted water clean, and has drawn in a number of bug and grass types from routes nearby. Bring back all the sleep powder you can from the different species there, and we'll see if we can't make something useful out of them." - Prof. Sloane Mission Requirements: Virus Exclusive / 2+ members / 6 posts each / Can be taken 3 times total Mission Payoff: 2000 Pokedollars / +1 Mystery item / Chance to capture bug and grass types / New Virus item unlocked
Route 38 was considerably void of life. The only sign of life was the trainer with purple locks who was resting against a tree by the dirt path. It was the perfect time to get rest in without any major disturbances to prevent him from doing so. It was a sure fact that any wild pokemon around were residing deeper into the forest, far enough that people wouldn't notice. The only sound that could be heard was the whistling wind and the soft breathing of the Growlithe in his lap.
Honestly, he was more than prepared to sleep through the day if he wasn't suppose to be working right now. Yuki didn't consider himself a fan of virus's methods by a long shot. If he wanted to spend his youth stealing other people's pokemon he would have been mugging people as they came by. This reason alone is why he makes it a goal to take simple missions. This one was consider a prime example of such.
It was a simple retrieval mission. All he had to do was collect spores from pokemon who use sleep powder. No need to hurt or steal from anyone. Just what he wanted. Now he needed to wait for the man who was suppose to be helping him.

Mission Requirements: Virus Exclusive / 2+ members / 6 posts each / Can be taken 3 times total
Mission Payoff: 2000 Pokedollars / +1 Mystery item / Chance to capture bug and grass types / New Virus item unlocked Today was the first day that Steven was taking on a small task for Team Virus. He did not agree with the stealing and bullying that the group asked them to do at times, though he had not joined them for those kinds of things. He was here to learn more about the virus spreading around on Pokemon in the region and to help in finding solutions to stop it from spreading further or evolving into something much worse. The job he was supposed to be doing today was simple, collect sleep powder from the bug and grass type pokemon that had gathered to the clean water thanks to the work of environmentalists that had come to the area in time past. The place was located on Route Thirty-Eight, outside of Enju City, and he was already thinking about how to do a documentary here once he came here without any kind of job that he had to do while here. Upon arrival to the area, he would find someone else already waiting there. They were nearly a foot shorter than him, and held a head of strangely covered black and purple hair. "Hello, are you here for the view, or for work?" The question was a loaded one, mostly to figure out if this was the other Team Virus member he was meant to meet up with before they were to begin. If it was not he would simply begin work on his own. If it was he would introduce with a pseudonym and hope that the two of them would be able to get their work done without getting on each other's nerves. He just wanted this to go properly, and without incident, so that the two of them could move on with their lives. Hopefully it would be as simple as that. Yuki Hayakawa

A sense of drowsiness fell onto the young man as he waited for his supposed partner. It caused him to raise his goggles up a bit to rub his tired eye then place them back in front of view. His struggle to stay awake became a much harder fight as the time went by even if it was expected. Yuki had a bad habit of falling asleep whenever he was in a comfortable spot. As such he often finds himself taking naps in public areas or waking up in the middle of the forest in the middle of the night with no light source.
Honestly, maybe a nap wasn't such a bad idea after all. He didn't know went this man would be arriving and he was really starting to warm up to this spot in front of the tree. Besides, Growlithe will wake him up when this man finally showed up. Yuki ended the seemingly endless struggle against the need to sleep willingly and succumbed to his own desires. A sense of relief and comfort washed over him after his body and mind finally relaxed after being put into overdrive to stay awake.
However, all good things must come to an end. The feeling of Growlithe's wet tongue licking his face replaced his previous sensations causing him to jolt awake. His canine alarm clock managed to get him up to greet his partner who was walking towards them. Why couldn't he come five minutes later? "I don't see why it can't be both. But it mostly works to answer your question."
Yuki stood up from the ground, dusting himself off the grass and dirt that riddled his pants and robes. "Your Steven? I'm Yuki Hayakawa. I was told I would be meeting you here for this assignment. Yuki gave him a bow as he introduced himself to the man and turned around soon after. "I was told that the pond was somewhere off this path, deeper into the forest." Yuki started for the forest off of the path. leading Steven to the pond.

Another glance at the man, as he introduced himself, would make it seem like this purple haired fellow had just woken up. Or maybe he had just had a long day and was exhausted. Either way, they were going to have a lot of work to do if they wanted to get this done quickly and efficiently. The response he got in return for his question was a wee bit on the sarcastic side, though he let it roll over his shoulder rather than get upset over something so trivial, and the other guy would introduce himself by full name. "Hello Yuki, I am indeed Steven. Nice to meet you, Yuki." After the short introductions, Yuki Hayakawa would mention where he was told the pond was before beginning to lead the way to the pond. Steven really had no want to learn more about this man he was going with. That was why he would be silent for the entirety of their trip unless he was spoken to first. If this man wanted to bring up something he would respond, but he was not ready to give out more information than his own first name at this current time. They both knew they were with Team Virus, but Steven did not want others to know that publicly for as long as was possible. If he could keep it hidden permanently he would do so, but that really depended on what Virus leadership said to them in the future. It wouldn't be too long, nor too eventful until they arrived at the pond that was layered with bug pokemon, grass pokemon, and the powders and other stuff that they released as they went about their lives. "Well, any specific spot you want? Or shall we just go where we feel like until we have enough?" The answer from his co-worker was all that was needed before he would begin to do what they had come here for. Maybe they would even catch a pokemon while they were out here. Yuki Hayakawa

Yuki spent the rest of the walk over to the pond in an uncomfortable silence. The thought of starting a conversation crossed his mind a few times, but his mind wouldn't allow him to find a point to start with. The result was him feeling the scientist's eyes in the back of his head as he leads them to the location of the mission.
"I didn't really think much about it really. Let's just walk around the pond until we have enough." The silence was broken with the small exchange between the two started. The pond was much larger than he initially thought. It wasn't the size of a lake, but it was big enough that a good number of pokemon can stay around the area for a long time. Long enough that they wouldn't have to worry about any water issues.
He began trying to find any grass types to collect from until another pokemon decided to come to them. The sight of a bladed limb coming his way caused him to reel back out of the way. His attacker only managed to cut the air thanks to Yuki's skillful dodge. His attacker made itself known as the famous bug type, Scyther. It made sense why it was attacking. Most pokemon were very territorial creatures and Scyther was no different.
The bug type looked ready to try another attempt on him judging by its stance. However, he wouldn't let it. A hand quickly grabbed a pokeball from his belt and a white light was flashed for a moment. "Ember!" The Growlithe that appeared before them took the order without hesitation and fired bursts of flames at their attacker. The powerful flames took Scyther down without any trouble.

Some could say that the entire trip to the pond had been in an uncomfortable silence. Steven did not think such a thing about it, the uncomfortable ones were when you were out alone and even your own thoughts were filled with the dismal things that could happen. The breaking of silence that he had done upon their arrival would be answered with an unsure response about the two of them walking around the pond until they had enough to call it a day. "All right, sounds like a plan." With that said the two would begin the work, Steven moving off a short distance away so as to not get in the way of his coworker as they both attempted to collect the sleep powder that Team Virus wanted them to gather. The man would skim some, carefully, into a vial that he had brought with him before he saw movement from out of the corner of his eye. One movement was a Scyther that charged at Yuki, the second being a Combee that was clearly coming at Steven right now.
"Volt, come help real quick." Steven would send out his little Pichu as he examined the bee pokemon that was charging him angrily. Wait...that mark on the lower head...it was a female bee? The fight between the two pokemon was a close one, Pichu getting in a good jolt into the bee even as it bit his Pichu. Just when the fight seemed to be winding down, the combee starting to lose cause of the electrical weakness it had against it, Steven would throw a Pokeball in an attempt to catch the bee. He intended to catch this thing, a female Combee was rarer to see compared to the males in the species, and it was one he would be excited to have evolve as he raised it. A Vespiquen to call a friend! He could help with ecology by raising bees and maybe even make some money to help fund for the goals he had for his career.

Both trainer and pokemon stood side by side while watching the flames engulf the bug type. A silent sigh of relief was let out from the both of the after Scyther stopped moving for a few moments. They were ready to turn around until the feeling of the air current changing stopped them from stepping any further away. The summoned up air drifted around the bug until the flames were fully disbursed by the winds.
Yuki and Growlithe only looked at the armless pokemon in shock and awe. Flames that strong should have done in any other bug type due to how effective fire was to them. However, this Scyther took it head on and was still standing with only a few brushes on him even after being lit on fire. So this is why it was the most famous of all bug types?
The proven king of bugs decided it was time for revenge and fired off strong slashes of air at them. Yuki and Growlithe were both able to recover in time to jump over to the side, avoiding the strong attack. Their sense of security was then taken by Scyther who stood in front of them. The wing attack was only a distraction to know where to position itself next.
It's bladed arm swung down at Growlithe with amazing speed. Said puppy pokemon was forced back into a tree with a mark running down its chest. There wasn't any bleeding, but it still was very painful with the strength that was in the swing. Shots of bursting flames were fired by the puppy as Scyther flew towards her for another attack. The king of bugs didn't seem to be all that worried by the attacks coming it's way and swung at each one.
A pokeball connected itself with the bug before it can finish off Growlithe for it's revenge.

The hard click of the Pokeball confirming capture of the pokemon gave him more happiness than he had felt in quite some time. While he enjoyed the company of his current Pokemon, neither of them were as rare as finding a female Combee. The joy was short-lived, however, due to another Pokemon showing up as he picked up the Pokeball and hung it on the item meant to hold them on his belt. Volt would take the hit that the angry Tangela would throw their way, a full blast of sleep powder that enveloped the poor electric mouse and put it into a deep slumber. "Well, that's unfortunate." The words would be said as he recalled the Pichu back to its Pokeball before sending out Meowth, giving a hand signal to the creature to use Payday on the plant tentacle mess of a Pokemon. Once the cute little cat had done that the battle was a free-for-all for the two as he went about to collect the sleep powder that had been so casually spread out by the Tangela that was slowly losing to the bites and slashes of the Meowth known as Tac.
After a good amount was collected he would hear his Meowth do a loud meow at him from behind, the Tangela knocked out on the ground where it had been defeated. "Good Job, Tac. Stay out and make sure no one else interrupts us while we finish up here. All right? I'll buy you a treat on the way home today." The affirmative noise from Tac would be followed with the cat dropping to all fours and roaming around. Cat type pokemon were good at being a nuisance and disrupting nature, which meant most things would avoid it for a while and let them deal with the main goal here. Steven would look over to Yuki, who was catching the Scyther in the nick of time. "It's getting a bit dangerous now. Let's get this done quick so we can heal up our Pokemon and turn these powders in." It wasn't that he was worried about himself or the mission being done, he was worried about their Pokemon and the injuries they had now sustained.

Yuki has successfully captured the Scyther. Just within milliseconds of striking the Growlithe, the bug Pokemon is sucked into the ball and it bounces on the ground, ticking and shaking 3 times before it settles.

A bladed appendage grazed the side of Growlithe's face, but only for a moment. The puppy pokemon watched the ball in front of it while it shook several times in front of her. The sound of a click allowed both her and Yuki to relax as their troubles were over. Growlithe considered herself was a very lucky pokemon at the moment. There was no telling what could have happen if the pokeball was a second late to hit its mark.
Yuki was the first to move, walking over to pick up the pokeball and storing it for a later date. Being partners with his new catch was going to be difficult. They were clearly stumbling into its territory and was met with total agression. Oh well. It's not like he doesn't have experience with pokemon who think only with their fists. It's going to be difficult, but he'll give it time.
Another pokeball was held out to Growlithe, who was returned into the capsule seeing as she was heavily damaged. "Ya. Let's grab some more to make sure the scientist are happy and go. We don't need to encounter anymore territorial pokemon like that." Yuki took out the container given to him and walked over to where Steven did battle with tangela. It used sleep powder in it's fight with Steven so he collected the left overs in the area.

The Pokeball that held the Scyther wiggled a few times, from what Steven saw, but in the end, it would seem that Yuki Hayakawa would have a new pal of his own in the Scyther that had just been trying to kill his Growlithe. An odd start to a friendship, but things almost always worked out in the end with these kinds of things. Yuki would recall his heavily wounded Growlithe back to its Pokeball, to keep it safe until they could take care of it at a Pokemon Center. After doing that, Yuki would comment on grabbing more sleep powders as well as comment about the current situation they were in. "Yeah, we should probably grab a little more quickly. It will make the scientists happy and it means we can leave here as soon as possible. I didn't expect the Pokemon around here to be so aggressive. The Scyther was expected, aggressive-wise, but the others aren't ones I expected to see coming directly at us. A single Combee and a Tangela aren't usually aggressive unless attacked first. Maybe that Scyther got everyone riles up before we came along, huh?"
With that said the man would go back to collecting more of the powder strewn about the area. The highly trained Meowth he had wandered around the area, making sure to keep them as safe as it felt it was, even as it chased little bugs and other things as it felt like it was doing the most important job in the world. She was a little cute cat with not a care in the world. It was most likely trying to pick stuff up as well, the greedy little cat, and between that and the payday attack the little cat was carrying its weight for helping him on his adventures. Such a good little buddy to have. Once they were done here he needed to get some treats. It had done so well today, as had Pichu.

Yuki found himself considering his partner's words while collecting the sleep powder left over in the area. It made sense a little bit. He didn't think about it until now because he was more focused on his battle with Scyther. The deadly bug type would have killed him and his Growlithe if he took his eyes off of it even for a second. Such primal instincts were something he never experienced before with other pokemon. Thinking about it sent nasty shivers down his spine.
"Could be the reason. But I also wonder if it was like the unofficial alpha of this area. It most likely had the strength to do so." What he saw it do didn't make it an overstatement in the slightest. He can't think of a lot of examples where a bug type took so many fire attacks head on like that before. Yuki pushed the thoughts of the bug pokemon out of his head so he can continue gathering sleep powder residue.
More thought just keep making their way into his head, forcefully, but these were about the mission itself. He recalled that he wasn't told why the scientist needed sleep powder of all things. It would most likely be used to create a gadget to disable a target, but he can't know for sure. He wasn't someone who knew much about science after all.
The young man stood up with his back straightened and stretched his limbs out a bit. "That should do it." He noted while putting the container of sleep powder into a bag he brought with him.

As the duo continued in their quest for more sleep powder, Yuki would bring up the idea that the Scyther that had been there may have been the unofficial alpha predator of the lake they were currently at. It may have been a possibility, as any of the ones he had thrown out for thought, but there was no way to be sure now that it had been captured and was no longer part of the exosystem here. "Well, as much as it is nice to theorize about such things, there's no way to know now. With the Scyther captured it's no longer a part of this area. So whether it was the alpha predator, just riling up stuff at the current time, or even if it was something else entirely we will not know." The Scyther had been surprisingly strong, taking fire type attacks without seeming to flinch, and would be a great combatant for his coworker in the future. Hopefully, he took good care of the being instead of treating it like some piece of trash in the future.
Plenty of thoughts would pass through his head as they finished up their collection of sleep powder. How would the area change with the capture of that Scyther? How dangerous would this area be when he came back here to do a documentary of the area? Would the ecosystem change because of what had gone on here? Soon the two would both full the containers they had been required to once arrive here. Yuki would comment about his completion of the task moments before Steven finished his own container. "I'm done here as well. Now let's head back and turn this in. I'm curious as to what they come up with because of what we've gathered here today." With that said he would go along with Yuki back to where they were supposed to meet up and turn in the containers. All in a days work, he guessed.
