Whenever it came time for his research luck eluded Azad. Whether it was something with the weather, a malfunction concerning his equipment, or his personal favorite; Inconsiderate trainers with their challenges and general rambunctiousness scaring away whatever he was trying to study. It was a wonder how so many of the parasites managed to get even this far in life without learning any sense of public decency. The aspiring researcher was most assuredly being being too hard on the community he himself was a part of, but in the last week or so he'd become incredibly bitter if only because he'd turned in his first assignment late and as such made a bad impression with the professor he was assigned under.
The dark-skinned assistant this week figured moving deeper into the region would allow for more peaceful studies and so he'd found himself in Hiwada Town. And after hearing a few strange rumors concerning pokemon migration in Ilex Forest the trainer was determined to find the truth behind the odder changes across the woods. And so the day following Azad had done just that, He'd been in the forest for about three hours exploring the forest floor enjoying the darkness the canopy provided. He'd begun to track some of the changes noticing many of the bug pokemon; paras, caterpie, and weedle in particular had all moved southbound for some reason or another. All in all, he was steadily making progress only for a random oddly colored Meowth to hop out from the shadows and swipe the laptop he was using to record his research.
The scene the followed was rather comical, from afar at least. The black meowth dashing through the woods a full laptop in its paws while the white haired trainer chased barely managing to keep track of the cat pokemon as he chased after it. He wouldn't let anything ruin his project a second time, even if it meant skinning that damn cat.

RUNNING ON TWO PAWS was far from an easy feat for the dark-furred feline, and the Meowth was quickly beginning to realize that its frantic pace wouldn't be enough to evade the dogged researcher on his heels. He made use of his size, ducking under fallen logs and weaving through brambles between the occasional show of forest parkour as he scrambled onward, jaw set tight as his eyes narrowed to determined slits. As desperate as the human hot on his tail was, he was just as decided on keeping his prize as the man was on retrieving it. Kitten steeled himself as he ducked low to shoulder his way through a dense patch of shrubbery, exploding through the other side with a rattling of leaves and making a sharp right - leading the assistant further into the heart of the woods.
[break][break]
The Kalos-born assistant wasn't the only foreigner interested in the insects' migration that morning. Seated just beside the forest shrine, legs neatly folded and laptop rested atop her lap, a sleepy-eyed university student scrolled through a lengthy page of data. In the shadow of the branches stretched out overhead, the artificial glow of her laptop lit the area in a sickly pale light, the occasional rhythmic tap of her fingers against the keyboard only a murmur against the uncharacteristic silence of the wood. With only the occasional chitter of a passing bug, the distant shuffling's growing louder would have been easy to notice if not for the attention given to the numbers drifting by onscreen. A slender hand reached blindly for the can of lemonade at the woman's side, eyes still glued to the face of her laptop as she drew the chilled drink to her lips for a sip.
[break][break]
The surrounding quiet was finally broken by a sudden ' CRASH ' as a shadow soared down from over head. Kitten, at some point, must have managed to claw his way up into the trees, as without warning down he sailed from the canopy - landing in a flourish of dust at the edge of the small clearing surrounding the shrine. The tall grass bowed at the sudden rush of air and, as soon as he had landed, he was off, sprinting his two-legged way wildly toward Noelani to take cover behind her form, branch-whipped laptop held securely in his arms.
[break][break]
If the woman's reaction were any indication, this wasn't the first time the Meowth had come tearing out of the sky. Noelani failed to so much blink in response, her lemonade set back at her side as her hand drifted carelessly back over her keyboard, tapping a quiet song against its surface. She could feel the Meowth's chest swell and shrink with labored breath as he flattened himself against her back, his curled tail pulling in a bit late to tuck itself behind her bikini-clad figure.

It's amazing how capable one becomes when they're desperate. As the Meowth zigged below fallen logs and through the dense trees with his computer Azad would Zag above vaulting over the same logs sliding through the dense forest himself both disregarding any and all pokemon that happened to eye the duo. Most were too busy with their own business to care and the others that took interest either weren't fast enough to interrupt or were too scared to having seen the look on the human's face.
Azad could feel himself tiring as the chase persisted, but he'd still he'd place one foot in front of the other pushing himself further on for his work. If he lost that laptop he might as well lose any sense of his future, or at least that's what he believed. Eventually the cat pokemon would make its way into the canopy eliciting both a swear and a pokeball from the aspiring professor. "Aros don't let the cat escape!" He'd manage to get out through hurried breaths refusing to stop his own pursuit. While the man was lean and his travels through the wild had conditioned him better to exercise and physical activity as whole Azad was still very much an indoor nerd at heart and keeping up this pace for so long was nothing short of miracles and adrenaline.
He'd catch flickers of the cat and his computer as the pokemon flew through the trees hopping from branch to branch each jump causing the boy's heart to leap in worry, if the laptop was broken in the chase than he'd be for lack of a better word, 'fucked' in every regard. The man was so focused on the pokemon above he didn't even notice the girl below and in the transition from trees to tall grass the researcher had lost track of the pokemon. Thankfully the beldum who remained above had managed to see the the cat pokemon's plan unfold. And so the Beldum would float overhead watching the event preparing to interfere only if its trainer was unable to resolve the situation himself.
Azad liked to think himself relatively capable in most things. He had a good head on his shoulder's the man had done his time in school and even made it into college and while he may not have been as established or even as loved as his siblings he more often than not showed a good face to the world. There was pride in both his abilities and his vanity. Knowing that he'd be able to keep his cool regardless of the situation and even more his ability to put his best foot forward despite the challenges he faced was something he thought was to be respected. His threshold and even more his patience for the odd and annoying was higher than most and while he'd never say it aloud it was something he truly believed. It was only until he was faced with this combination of events so odd and out sorts that Azad's facade finally broke down.
Faced with a beautiful girl dressed only in a bikini in the middle of the woods after chasing a Meowth down for a laptop that held his 'future' the man had finally run out of words, and even if he hadn't his body ardently refused refused to share them. Piercing green eyes would peek out beneath bundles of tussled white hair as Azad would awkwardly move to turn away from the woman hoping to keep at least some level of tact but only embarrassing himself further. Eventually he'd make out a few sounds that at least seemed like words ears reddening all the while.
"Uh... -top... Meowth. Sorry, -ve seen?" And after a second or two more he'd continue slowly catching his breath.
Have you... seen my laptop, I uh... don't mean to interrupt, sorry." Sweaty and with his hair out of sorts and faced with a situation odder and more awkward than the one he'd been in previously it was plainly apparent that dark-skinned man was completely and unequivocally embarrassed by literally every aspect of this situation.
"Yeah, I'll just be on my way."

THE SHARP RUSTLING OF GRASS as the researcher broke through the treeline sent the ashen Meowth's fur on end, muscles setting tight and rigid as he further pressed his back to his trainer's. His arms coiled themselves snugly about the laptop held to his body, his chest still heaving with troubled breath as he waited in anxious anticipation for the man's retreat. The Beldum, it seemed, had escaped the cat's notice.
[break][break]
The abrupt appearance of the fellow trainer did little to ruffle Noelani however, lashes falling low in another languid blink as her bright green eyes picked through the data listed in front of her. She noted another shuffle of grass as the stranger shifted in his place, the heavy breath of a man run ragged, but her attention remained fixed to her laptop - soft tapping of keys interrupted by silence and a crinkle of plastic as she reached to claim a cream-filled cookie for herself. It was only when the stranger's fractured, shaky speech shook the air that her eyes finally traveled upward, lingering on the back turned to her as she held her snack near her lips and watched on in quiet wonder.
[break][break]
She could scarcely make out his words, though 'Meowth' was easily enough understood. Dark green brows furrowed lightly over her eyes, the corners of her lips dropping meekly into a frown as she cant her head, locks of hair rolling freely over her shoulder.
[break][break]
❝ Hummm? ❞ she sounded aloud softly, a gentle encouragement for the man to make himself clear.
[break][break]
Noelani blinked her eyes at the mention of a laptop, straightening her posture a bit as her gaze tore away from the flustered figure to give a cursory scan of the area. She was quiet at first, gaze meandering the little clearing in a minimal-effort search before she parted her lips to anchor her dessert between her teeth, freed hand reaching to lift the dufflebag at her side and check underneath. Nope. Not there.
[break][break]
The search was interrupted by a declaration of surrender, her hand dropping the scarlet colored bag to collapse back against the forest floor as her attention pulled toward the man. Her lips softened into a pout around her cookie, a hand reaching to snap it in half against her teeth. She chewed at the sugary treat a moment before ushering it to rest against her inner cheek, calling out with an unmuffled voice toward the man.
[break][break]
❝ Sorry I couldn't help, ❞ she apologized sadly, her voice tired as her shoulder drooped low, brows worrying together in sympathy.
[break][break]
At her back, Kitten hunched further over his prize, eyes narrowing as he gazed down toward his new laptop covetously. His tail flicked sharply to one side, an ear turned sidelong as he listened patiently for the defeated scientist to depart, unaware entirely of the watchful pokemon looming overhead.

He's far to shaken to even consider turning around.
Even with the stranger's kindness as she searched and empathized with the his situation Azad couldn't bring himself to bother her further, not when he was already this out of sorts, and when the thief was most likely escaping farther as they spoke. While avoiding eye contact he'd catch a glance at her own starkly different laptop noting that she seemed busy with her own work, another strike against himself. No, it was best the weary man figure out his next move while he caught his breath. Would it be wise to continue searching for the pokemon who in the time he spent hassling this stranger had only gotten farther away, or should he prepare to invest in new equipment starting his project over from the top? Not to say he even had the money for such an undertaking. While Azad attempted to make some kind of plan Aros had long since realized his trainer was incapable of solving this problem alone and as suchwould begin to act on behalf of the white-haired trainer.
With a plan of its own the pokemon would simply descend down quietly floating a few feet above the unsuspecting meowth and its trainer before crying out in its gutteral robotic voice only as it could serving as a sort of alarm or bell for the cat pokemon in an attempt to give its location away to everyone in the immediate area. It wasn't the most tactful way of going about the situation, but Aros didn't deal in tact, it dealt in results.
Azad recognizing the sound, but unprepared for his pokemon's cry would shoot back towards the three. For the first time over the course of the chaos a small grin would grow on the researcher's face. While he might have failed his partner had succeeded, after all why else would the pokemon attempt to grab his attention.
What he didn't expect was for the cries to come from directly above the girl, he couldn't see the Meowth from where he stood, but still Aros would continue to make noise until the silver haired trainer would make his way back over leaving him once again face to face with the scantily clad stranger, While he didn't look his best the green eyed boy was a bit less ragged now and so the trainer would speak more clearly if only slightly. He still couldn't talk to the girl clearly for a number of other reasons.
"Sorry for my pokemon's interruption he's usually more polite...haha..." Whether or not the girl had yet to notice the clever cat Azad would continue pushing the conversation. He'd place a hand clumsily behind his head as the man continued, "I don't mean to insist, but I trust that Beldum with my life, In all my time with him I've yet to see a point where he hasn't acted with purpose, so would you mind if I searched the area a second time?" Perhaps at a beach where the woman's outfit was the norm he'd have a little more poise and tact. Sadly, they weren't at the beach they were in a forest where her outfit might of well have been underwear and so even now he'd avoid meeting the girl's eyes and her form as a whole in the slightest. All in all it'd look as if the man found the surrounding brush entirely too fascinating as he attempted to converse.

BELDUM'S CRY ECHOED HOLLOW over the clearing, drawing both the green eyed trainer and her narrow-pupiled thieving cat's attention up toward the sky. Kitten bore his teeth with menace as he stared the psychic pokémon down with a steadily increasing level of rage, the corner of his mouth twitching with agitation as his broad ears swiveled sharply to turn themselves toward Aros.
[break][break]
As the iron bodied pokémon lingered overhead, Noelani's lips peeked into a gentle smile, brows easing over her eyes. A trio of digits pressed to the surface of her cookie, determined to keep it in her grip as she rose a pair of fingers in a friendly wave to the Beldum, oblivious to the reason for its calls.
[break][break]
The trainer's voice stole the researcher's attention away from his pokémon, her wave dropping as her gaze wandered back toward him, the second half of her cookie being popped into her mouth. Her brightly colored eyes set themselves on the man's own as she drew her thumb to her lips, guiding the crumbs littered on her fingers into her mouth with her teeth. It was the first time she'd gotten a decent look at the other trainer, eyes wandering from his tussled white hair to the embarrassed glow of his ears before searching his rumpled attire, apparently disheveled from his trek through the forest. Her fingers curled meekly into her hands, fists resting on her lap as she sat in careful attention, eager to help the man with his apparently desperate situation.
[break][break]
❝ I don't mind Beldum, ❞ she assured, sounding a little confused in regards to the apology. She nodded her head in response to his request, eyes turning away to give another brief glance over the area. ❝ Look around. ❞
[break][break]
The woman's easy invitation set Kitten on edge. The Meowth's shoulders tightened as he spun on his heel to face Aros, shifting the laptop to the support of one arm so he could properly raise its opposite, flipping the appropriate (read: middle) clawed digit toward the pokémon blowing his cover. His tail swat back and forth hastily against his trainer's back, but even that wasn't enough to clue her in on the misdeeds of the Meowth still pressed to her spine.
[break][break]
As awkward as it may have been for Azad, Noelani seemed completely at home. A swimsuit in the woods was apparently the norm, for her.

The shenanigans would only continue as the situation progressed. As the Meowth shot a rather creative gesture to the Beldum the pokemon would roll its singular eye wishing it had shoulders to shrug, truly evolution could not come fast enough for the magnet pokemon. If anything following their exchange the pokemon would cry slightly louswe to antagonize the cat pokemon further. The woman's left the magnet pokemon a little more curious the Beldum figured the woman was a co-conspirator in this farce, but her laid-back almost too open approach of the situation left the logic oriented pokemon confused. She really hadn't realized the object that started this whole event was quite literally against her back, alongside the perpetrator. The steel type at the end of the day could only chalk it up to human weirdness. (a category that filled further with each passing day)
On Azad's end the woman hadn't taken any offense to his request thankfully and was still willing to allow the researcher to search for his treasured device. As he moved forward he'd begin to speak still pointedly avoiding her gaze, attempting to normalize this meeting marginally. "So what brings you to the forest? I figured you'd be on your way to the beach in such a..." Revealing. "brazen outfit. Not to say it doesn't look nice, of course." He'd glance toward Aros moving to investigate whatever had alerted the magnet.
The trainer would first move to the small shrine walking almost directly past the girl missing the thief entirely in passing. "You know they say the forest's protector returns to this shrine every so often." He'd inspect the farther side of the wooden architecture carefully straightening himself out a bit more as he began his search. He'd even take a moment to tie his hair back into the classic ponytail that'd fallen out over the course of the chase. Hands could graze the wood checking the far side of the shrine first. The shrine itself was one of the landmarks in the region that aspiring professor was most interested in. His key interests concerning the pokemon world and in turn his research was mythology and while legendary pokemon weren't his focus they more often than not played a large role in the topic. As he moved to the direct back of the shrine his voice would ring out again filling the silence of the forest. "Have you heard the stories? Those concerning the 'Guardian of the Fores-"
It was only then that he'd begin move to the side of the shrine closest to the woman catching a flash of not only the green haired girl herself but of gray and black that was just a little to furry to serve as a shadow tucked behind her. Eyed narrowed as they attempted to hone in on the shadow hesitating a moment before deciding to ask his next question "Uh..." Only now realizing he'd yet to inquire about the stranger's name. Ms.... as odd as this is could I ask that you to...check behind yourself." The corners of the man's mouth would twinge in the negative a frown preparing to retrieve his laptop and give the thief a little more than a piece of his mind.

THE PROFESSOR IN training allowed for her eyes to follow as the stranger set to giving the clearing a more thorough search, well enough distracted in watching after him that she forgot the fact she had agreed to help.
[break][break]
❝ Ummm, ❞ was the witless response to his first question, bright green gaze rolling itself toward the dark canopy in reflection as she filed through her thoughts, slowly hazing her way toward the answer. It didn't take much to disrupt her from the task, his comment on her attire pulling her eyes down to glance over her scarcely dressed form.
[break][break]
She sat in contemplative silence as she mulled over his words, attention fixed on the frilly black outfit that comprised more of bare skin than fabric. A hand rose to ease one of the supporting strings of her bikini top away from her skin as she lost herself in thought, staring down in vacant wonder as she released the elastic from her grip, what meager curves her body possessed bouncing from the impact of it snapping back into place. His quick addendum to the observation brought an easy smile to her lips, green eyes rising from her suit to settle back on the strange man.
[break][break]
❝ Oh, thank you, ❞ she replied, her quiet voice cheerful and warm in her genuine appreciation. She seemed able to forget the previous comment entirely, given the compliment.
[break][break]
Her previous train of thought had returned, though as she opened her mouth to speak the stranger had already started again, this time concerning the shrine. Her gaze pulled toward the wooden structure as he searched it, scanning its design in careful consideration as her lips fell shut.
[break][break]
She listened quietly as the trainer continued on his new subject, fingers curling a bit more tightly into her palms as her attention dropped to the grass the man had been hunting around in in a fruitless attempt to ease his search. She could feel Kitten shift at her back as he took a small step to the side, his ears having turned to face Azad as he'd caught the sound of the trainer's shoes rustle across the grass. His glowering stare toward Aros dropped as he reached his offending paw to grab at his tail, pulling it in toward his body as he shuffled a bit more quickly to better angle himself behind his trainer.
[break][break]
It was then that the man's words came to an abrupt halt, causing Kitten to freeze in his place.
[break][break]
Noelani blinked at his request, turning her head to peek over her shoulder - first toward the empty space behind her, and then to the cat bent awkwardly against her back.
[break][break]
The woman turned in her place, the Meowth's muscles going completely taut as she pressed a hand to his side, scooting his stiff body out of her way to search beneath him. It was after a brief check over the grass that she noticed the item held in the rigid feline's arms.
[break][break]
Her hand reached easily to retrieve the laptop from Kitten's grasp, eyes glancing it over for a moment once it was securely in her grip. The Meowth didn't fight her at first, rigid body holding its shape as it was relieved of its trophy, but once he'd realized what had just transpired he turned sharply on his heel, holding his empty paws out toward his trainer in an expectant manner. The demand was simply ignored, her full attention turning back to the trainer nearby.
[break][break]
❝ Is this it? ❞ she asked as she lofted the laptop into the air, holding it up over her head as her calm eyes rest themselves on Azad.

| DO YOU REMEMBER? LOOK AT ME AND ALL THE THINGS WE SAID WE'D BE. WE BEAT THE HOUNDS, WE PUSHED THE ODDS. WE'D TAKE IT ALL - WE HAD THE CAUSE. WITH YEARS TO BURN AND YEARS TO TRASH, LIVIN' LIFE BASED ON FLASH. BUT SOMEHOW REACHING FOR THE STARS, I THINK WE WENT A BIT TOO FAR.
As the woman began to check her person for the item in question the white-haired boy despite his fear of losing the perpetrator (and in turn his laptop) again would look away from the girl still not entirely comfortable staring at the her person now waiting for her affirmative or denial. Azad's eyes would travel to the Beldum above who with its mission just about complete had begun to watch its trainer with a new-found curiosity. Never before had its trainer seemed so daft, perhaps a bit bossy at times, and even callous on occasion, but the aspiring professor always seemed to have his wits about him. This wasn't to say the magnet was looking down on the trainer if anything the pokemon was simply archiving the information.
Noticing the pokemon's intense gaze Azad couldn't help but let out a quiet sigh wondering what exactly his pokemon was thinking only for that train of thought to be interrupted when the woman called back to the researcher. Eyes would shoot toward the green-haired girl and more importantly the laptop held safely in her arms. The computer was a little bit more beat up now a few new scratches mixing with others that'd long since penetrated the shell of the computer speaking to the age and moreover the journeys the device had taken with its owner. Honestly he could careless about the nicks and dings as long as his data remained unharmed.
Relief permeated the man's body now, the knot of anxiety that had welled up in his chest slowly untangling itself as Azad made his way around the shrine and toward the girl. The retrieval of his computer far outweighed any sort of bashfulness he'd displayed to the girl over the course of this event. With no reason to hide the thief stood close to his mistress arms out as if it was waiting to have the pilfered laptop returned to him, earning a more than scornful look from the white-haired researcher. Azad had half a mind to make a coat out of the creature, but with its (assumed) trainer there the man would curb the full brunt of his scorn reveling in the fact that this crisis was averted for now at least. Every so often taking a second to remind himself that it was just a pokemon, a young one at that who was playing tricks on him. It was essentially a child as far as he knew and so the situation called for equal measures of tact and restraint.
The fury of his glare dissipated as he now faced the green haired girl, taking a deep breath now he'd speak now focusing particular on the stranger's emerald eyes finally thanking the researcher. His ears were still more than a little red, but he at least managed to keep a straight face as he spoke. "Well, If the thief was an ekans he would have bit me. Thank you truly, without this I would have lost all my research and more." His eyes would then turn to the oddly colored Meowth once again, this time analyzing the pokemon as a scientist. Meowths, he knew, typically had lighter colored fur and brown paws while this one seemed to be almost entirely inverse. "Now would it be too far of a stretch to assume that this little cat burglar answers to you? I've never seen a meowth in these colors, So I have to admit i'm slightly curious." Perhaps the man would be a little more fascinated if the pokemon hadn't attempted to rob him moments prior.
As the dark-skinned researcher conversed Beldum would simply float down hovering next to the two humans its focus centered on the green-haired woman. The pokemon was questioning what exactly about this human had gotten and even kept his trainer out of sorts. In order to build its own hypothesis the pokemon would begin to orbit the girl searching for its own answers.

NEITHER THE POKEMON nor his trainer seemed to pay the smoldering glare any mind, Kitten going so far as to take a couple of steps toward the man as he retrieved his computer. The Meowth held his empty arms out toward the white haired stranger just as he had his own master, waiting.[break][break]
The green-haired swimmer's gaze fell toward the researcher's ears as they steadily glowed brighter in his embarrassment, taking casual note of their contrast with the stern line of his lips as he stared intently toward her eyes. Gradually piecing the meaning behind his apprehension together, her lips peeked up into a smile. His simple joke concerning the nearness of his now revealed treasure easily broke the cheerful line, lips parting in a gentle, lilting laugh as a hand rose to disguise their upturn.[break][break]
Her hand dropped to rest in her lap as he continued on, her line of vision following his own to rest on the expectant Meowth standing at his feet. The man seemed curious, and Noelani was happy to oblige him.[break][break]
❝ This is Kitten, ❞ she introduced warmly, smiling fondly toward the nefarious cat. Kitten failed to respond, his tail slowly dropping to rest against the forest floor as he waited on for the return of his trophy. [break][break]
❝ In my home region, Meowth look more like this, ❞ she explained, gesturing to the pokémon with a hand as the the dark type gazed into the man's green eyes with a dull, black stare. ❝ Unlike their cousins, ❞ she continued, reaching a hand to rest it atop the feline's head, brushing her fingers along his velvety coat. ❝ Alolan Meowth are dark type. ❞
[break][break]A small giggle sounded in her excitement as she withdrew her hand from the top of her unmoving pokémon's head, her gaze pulling toward Aros as they circled around her in watchful analysis. She welcomed the pokémon closer with a wave of her hand, gazing over their metallic form with gentle interest.[break][break]
❝ You mentioned research? ❞ she softly chirped. ❝ Are you a scientist? ❞

The audacity of this sassy cat. Even now with the computer safely back in the professor's possession the dark type would still stand up gazing at Azad through the windows of his soul saying absolutely nothing just holding out its palms waiting. Just waiting for the rightful owner of the device to bequeath it to the pokemon. He had half a mind to have beldum fight the pokemon, but in the interest of its trainer who was so gracious in comparison the silver-haired trainer would simply focus his gaze on the woman ignoring the wildly brave creature for the moment at least.
It was only when the woman introduced Kitten that he'd glance back down at him now arms still held open and wide, still waiting. "He's quite the..." Asshole "Character." He'd attempt a short laugh, only half succeeding as his eyes moved to Beldum. "I'm sure you're never bored with him around, but I suppose Aros has a fair share of their own idiosyncrasies as well." The pokemon still flitted about stopping for a moment to stare at their trainer for his comment. After a piercing glare and a short apology from his trainer the beldum would return to his inspection.
Upon her mention of Alola he began to recall bits and pieces of knowledge concerning 'regional' changes and the like, it was quite a curious thing he knew little about, something that amidst his whirlwind of studies Azad made note to look into and probably forgot. Upon her explanation those piercing emerald eyes would light up his interest piqued. This meowth wasn't the best subject, but it was his only one, and so on occasion now despite the man's grievances a passive eye would fall on the pokemon more regularly if only out of a curiosity for the species as a whole.
It was only when she followed up about his research that any sense of focus returned to the boy. The euphoria of finding the laptop and everything that'd happened in interim had gotten the young professor more than slightly sidetracked. "Something of the sort, a researcher or researcher-in-training really. I'm part of the 'young professor program' at my university. Essentially two years of studying on a pokemon journey where I report back to my elder colleagues and professors bi-weekly." He'd pause for a moment as Aros would lean in closer to the green-haired girl allowing itself to be touched. I was studying the odd migration of bug pokemon in the forest before I was... 'interrupted'." He'd take special care to choose the least accusatory word yet again. "What of you....stranger?" Once again remembering he needed the girl's name. "Oh and allow me to Introduce myself, Azad Slade. It's a pleasure." He'd offer his hand to smaller girl making extreme effort to focus on her eyes alone, refusing to lose his composure twice in one day.

NOELANI HUMMED A soft sound of approval as the Beldum drew themself in nearer, fingers stretching to ease themselves along the side of the azure-metaled pokémon's eye and guide its shape into the palm of her hand. Her other hand rose as well, moving itself to rest atop the creature's head and glide over their shape in a calming motion. A warm smile tugged at her lips as she gazed into the pokémon's singular eye, thoroughly enraptured in its company.[break][break]
❝ I'm Professor Palm, ❞ she introduced, certain to include the title she truly had yet to earn as her gaze lifted from Aros' eye to survey the sheen of their metal. She must have caught herself, as slowly her eyes pulled away from Beldum to center themselves on Azad, still softened with warmth. ❝ It's nice to meet you too, ❞ she offered in a friendly chirp.[break][break]
It was only then that she noted the hand extended to her, her lips parting briefly in her surprise as she gazed down at it, momentarily dumbstruck. Withdrawing her hand from the cool metal orb casing Aros' eye she reached to meet the trainer's hand in a gentle shake - though the firmness of her grip spoke more confidence than her laid back demeanor projected. Kitten watched the exchange with disappointment, his paws dropping to his sides as he resigned to a fact that there would be no laptop in his immediate future.[break][break]
❝ I was just searching for previous instances of migrations in this forest, ❞ she commented as she retracted her hand, her gaze falling toward the dull glow of her laptop. ❝ But. Um — ❞ she hesitated, her hand slipping from atop Aros as she turned herself fully toward her machine, reaching to grab it at its base and draw it closer to her. ❝ I don't have the most complete history, ❞ she admitted, gaze pulling over the screen slowly.[break][break]
❝ Would you like a lemonade? ❞ she questioned, only barely able to pull her eyes from her screen to look toward Azad. They seemed to be drawn right back to their previous position as her hand fell to her mouse, scrolling down carefully through the page of information. ❝ I have another can. But. It's humans only, ❞ she informed, reaching blindly for her drink to bring it to her lips for a sip.[break][break]
Kitten, more than a little dissatisfied with the situation, turned to close the distance between himself and his trainer, rolling onto the tips of his toes and placing his paws atop her shoulder before lazily hoisting himself up, one of his hind feet slipping briefly. He turned his eyes toward Aros once he'd made his way to his perch, flicking his paw toward the pokémon in a single, sharp motion to shoo them away. He seemed less than keen on sharing his trainer.

Eyes widen more than marginally upon the woman's introduction, this stranger with her rambunctious meowth actually held the title that he was working towards. To become a full fledged professor was truly his dream and for the last half hour or so he'd shown her the absolute worst sides of himself. The young researcher was mortified upon realization that this woman could potentially be someone that was grading his papers. The entire dynamic had shifted and while it was too late to back step the man didn't really have much of an out either. Still she hadn't seemed too annoyed by the course of events and working alongside someone in the same field, a superior at that was toogood of an opportunity to pass up, and so the man wouldn't run from this situation striving only to make the best of it.
He notes the firmness of her grip, matching it before releasing the shake as the woman went to talk about her own research. In seconds it was apparent that the two were in the same vein, and upon mention of her skeleton of data the man would almost immediately open his own computer. As if a switch had been flipped inside the the darker-skinned researcher any bashfulness he had concerning the woman's appearance would quickly be replaced it's energy refocused into actual work. The researcher would even go as far as to take a seat next to the woman who would hopefully become a colleague as opposed to a superior. "Well I've gained a fair bit of data on the area from the Choji populace and through my own studies, but my data has its own holes as well." With the screen flickering on the man would quickly log in revealing an assortment of spreadsheets not only concerning the migration but the breakdown of wild pokemon in the forest typically. "I'd be very interested in cross-referencing the data and maybe we can figure out what's going on in the forest, that is, if what's happening now has happened before, and of course if you're interested, of course." So focused on the research Azad would even reveal a tick that happened upon when excited.
When offered the lemonade he wouldn't yet look up continuing to type away filling in a few blanks that he hadn't been able to fill earlier thanks to the cat pokemon's interruption not to long ago. "I suppose it's a good thing I'm not a pokemon then." He'd give the girl a small smirk only now looking up accepting her offer. "Yeah, I'd appreciate one as long as I'm not putting you out." He'd then continue on deciding it wise to speak on his current thoughts concerning the migration.
"According to what I've compiled so far I'm personally led to believe that something is pushing these specific groups of bug pokemon southbound. If I may, does your work align with my hypothesis?"

THE ATTENTION PAID to her laptop failed to waver as the fellow researcher took a seat at her side, the woman only faintly registering the sound of a nearby computer powering on as her entire field of vision remained glued to her screen. The thin aluminum of the can in her grip crinkled softly as it was settled back to the forest floor, her fingers setting themselves to work their way back into her dufflebag. A silent answer to the man's humble reply to her offer would have to suffice, as she was too focused on her data to offer any words of assurance. Her hand eased a chilled can marked with bright yellow stripes from behind the cover of the bag's fabric, reaching in a sightless effort to offer the frosted drink toward Azad.[break][break]
❝ It does, ❞ she answered after a brief pause, having taken a short moment to consider the implications of her own findings. Her fingers slid from the surface of the can once she was certain he had a good hold on it, her thumb drawing in a lethargic motion to brush the condensed droplets of water from their tips.[break][break]
❝ Can you get my pink memory card? ❞ she questioned toward Kitten, her fingers suddenly sprinting across the keyboard as she shift her mouse atop the notepad serving its mat to open a barrage of files onto her screen.[break][break]
Kitten frowned softly at the order, his head tilting lightly to one side as he casually considered disregarding the request. Despite the initial resistance the cat was quick to submit, a soft breath pushed from deep in his chest as he hopped down from her shoulder to reach his paws into her bag, shuffling through its contents carefully.[break][break]
❝ I'm going to give you my data, ❞ she announced toward Azad, still working to jam the carefully organized folders into a singular zipped file. Her movements had slowed a bit now that she had all the desired information onscreen, her placid gaze drifting over the screen in calm assessment.[break][break]
Pulling the compact memory stick from the bag the Kitten held it up toward his trainer in his paw, watching toward her as he waited for her to glance his direction. A few clicks from her mouse made clear just how long the wait would be however, and slowly he stepped forward to plug the sd card into the computer himself. His inexperience with the machine showed as he attempted to jam the still cased cartridge into the usb port, tail drifting back and forth idly behind him.[break][break]
The tap of plastic was enough to summon his trainer's attention, lips remaining settled in an even line as she relieved Kitten of the usb stick with a precise pinch of her fingers, bringing the bauble to her teeth to steal away its cap before inserting its metal bit to the computer's port.[break][break]
With a final click she retracted her hand, easing the electric pink casing from between her teeth with her fingers as she watched the files transfer over.[break][break]
❝ Do you have any ideas of what the something might be? ❞ she asked, her eyes pulling up toward Azad as she plucked the usb from her computer, offering that to the researcher as well.
