The national park was a perfect way for him to bond with MG. It had been a week since they started their adventure together and since then he'd learn a thing or two about her. A few scars on her body were apparant enough and he had come to the conclusion that the military must have saved her from something. When he went back to read up on her profile, she'd been saved from a pokefarm somewhere else that had been doing some bad stuff to their pokemon. So, she wasn't just trained to be a fighting machine it was simply how the ponyta dealt with such things. Which had led him to work harder than before to give her the good life she needed. After a bit of training, Jaye pulled an apple out of his bag. MG pulled herself forward and took a bite out of it. Progress, the first day he'd brought her out she wouldn't eat unless he told her too. Now the ponyta understood that when he offered she was free to take regardless of his words. Smiling, he stroked the side of her neck and the ponyta shook a little patting the dirt with a hoof to signify her happiness.
"Very good MG, at this rate you'll be a rapidash in no time!" A rapidash would be perfect for his performances. With her flame burst there was no double some combo moves could come out on top. Jaye didn't have any ambitious plans no, after all he considered this just a hobby pass time. He was no one special therefore he didn't expect anything great out of competing. As long as he and MG had fun then that was all there was to it. Taking a seat, MG continued to stare out into the park with her dead inside eyes. Jaye certainly hoped that she didn't creep anyone out... he didn't want an incident like at the department center near the clothes store. He shivered at the memory of that lady yelling at him.

After her first excursion in the National Park, you would think she would take the time to stay away, especially if the possibility of running into someone sketchy was still fresh in her mind. However the call of nature pulled at her heart strings, the beauty of the park enough to bring her back to it's gates with a mile on her face. In the back of her mind she still tried to consider what kind of person she would come across today, be they a man or a woman, or even a younger child. The Johto region was filled with an impressive array of people, and each of them were a stranger to the foreign girl.

She left her bike behind this time, instead walking around the park on her own two feet, her studious eyes matching every pokemon that happened to enter her field of vision. In turn, a pair of lifeless eyes met her blue orbs, her sould pulling her to reach out and express her concern for the pokemon they belonged to.

Moving closer to the man and his pokemon, she slowly stopped, standing in front of the fire pokemon with a curious expression. "Your ponyta is very unique," she said, addressing the man sitting there, though her gaze didn't leave the pokemon's. There was something about its presence that was off, but she couldn't quite place it. "I bet they are enjoying the nice day though."

Moving her hand to her hip, she removed Genbu's pokeball, releasing the squirtle into the world who rubbed its face before looking at Haruka with a pleased expression. Afterwards she dug into the bag on her back and pulled out the familiar canister she used to carry her pokemon food. "Would your ponyta like a treat?" she asked the man, cautious to not feed a strangers pokemon without permission.

"Here you go Genbu," she said handing the pokemon a piece of her handmade cake that her mother had sent her in the mail a few days ago. It was made using the same sweet berries that most pokemon food was made with.

Jaye hadn't expected someone to come up to him like she had. Well he was lying - MG grabbed attention. Most were very kind and others not so much. He'd found out more about her though so perhaps if someone knew more about the subject they could help him. When Haruka called MG unique he laughed a little. "Yeah, she was a gift from the military to me for enlisting." he explained as he rose from his sitting position on the bench. MG looked at Haruka curiously, however backing away so that she stuck close to Jaye. He'd noticed that lately as well, she seemed to trust him more and more each passing day. In turn she was rather shy with strangers. "I certainly hope she is, MG it's alright - she isn't going to hurt you I promise." Jaye pet the horse under her chin. Making the ponyta lift her head slightly, closing her eyes. She was discovering places she didn't realize felt good when he pet her.
"That would be great actually!" Jaye smiled towards the other. "I uhh, don't know if she'll take it from you so I'd like to try." it seemed the lady had come out of concern more than anything else. "You see she's had a bad lot in life, I've only had her for a week and we've made a lot of progress but I'd like to get her more comfortable with others and pokemon too. I named her Miss Grenade or MG for short." he smiled looking at Mg as she exchanged a glance to him and to the new trainer. She pulled up a hoof and scratched it against the ground nodding her head up and down. Hesitant to approach but still wanting to due to Jaye's wishes. There was also... the water type made her nervous. "I'm Jaye by the way, it's nice to meet you. That's a cool pokemon you got there. I haven't seen any squirtles in real life yet." he was fascinated to say the least. As he patted MG one more time, the ponyta finally crawled forward and eyed Haruka. Side stepping as she lowered her head cautiously. Staring at the the ground.

"Oh yeah no problem," she responded, handing the wrapped treat to the man and returning to fix her attention to her own pokemon. "I suppose all pokemon have their own different personalities, but it looks like she is warming up to you. I can imagine she has a tendency to be shy." Giving a slight grin she stood up to match him before giving a confident grin.

"My name is Haruka, and thanks, Genbu here is actually native to Kanto and Johto but you don't see many. I hear they are a pain to catch and even more to befriend. Genbu was from an egg instead of being wild, so he took a natural liking to me and my other pokemon."
[break][break] Putting away her food canister from her bag she glanced over the pokemon before getting an idea. "Say, have you ever battled with your pokemon before? My dad says it helps strengthen the bond between man and pokemon, as well as help them grow personally."

Putting a hand on her hip she used the other to pull at the strands of hair which surrounded her face. "I actually have never had a trainer battle either, but my team and I have plenty of experience battling wild pokemon. I even caught a few." Perhaps she was getting a bit carried away with talking about her own victories, but the excitement of the weeks events just kept catching up with her.

Once the treat was within his grasp, Jaye was able to give it to the ponyta. Hearing her teeth crunch down on the soft treat made him happy. As she didn't look like she gave much emotion but he'd been picking up on her subtle hints. The soft flicking of her ears told him that she was content. That was when the conversation changed to battling - come to think of it neither he nor MG had been in a trainer battle that much was true. As a coordinator he didn't think he needed it all that much. Yet when he looked over to her water type.... he wasn't sure if it'd be a fair battle since he only had MG. "We have fought out in the wild. But I didn't see any good additions to my team so I haven't caught anything. I only have MG." Jaye explained as he stood up. "A trainer battle though, no we haven't had one of those. I'm afraid your team would crush MG. But experience is experience if you want to battle." MG most definitely didn't mind that much was for sure.

"It might get me closer to finding out more of her quirks. People can't see them but I can when she's happy or sad." Jaye pointed out a finger. However, at the talk of battle the ponyta was already standing in front of him. Her eyes emotionless stare out at Haruka. Ready for whatever was thrown at her even if it was going to cause her pain. Jaye looked to the ponyta, one day he wanted to teach her that she could battle comfortably and make it fun. At the moment the ponyta was a bit... rough. She seemed to attack to cause harm and pain rather than to win making it so he did injure pokemon in the wild a bit harshly at times.

Not every trainer had a team either, and with that, she wasn't out to just shatter his ambitions. So with a slight nod, she responded in her normal cheerful tone, "We can do one pokemon versus one pokemon. I won't even use my Squirtle. That way, its ample experience between both pokemon!" she said glancing over to the Ponyta with a smile. Glancing at the ponyta, Haruka could sense that the pokemon had a difficult past, and she didn't opt to pry into the man's secrets. [break][break] Thinking about what pokemon she would use instead, she didn't want to bring out Honou, as fire type against a fire type would be asinine as either pokemon wont come out of the fight having learned anything. Stroking her chin she then reached for her belt removing the electric type and the capsule expanding in her palm. "Usagi I choose you!"[break][break] The female electric pokemon formed from the red beam leaping with joy as it saw it's trainer. With a smile on its face it moved in closer so that the girl could run her hands safely over the top of it's head. "Usagi are you ready to battle?" she asked to which the flaffy responded gleefully before positioning itself to stand between her and the ponyta with a determined look on her face. [break][break] "All of my pokemon know the joy of battling wild pokemon, they know the joy of personal growth as well. To them, testing themselves against each other is fun and strengthens the bond between them and their trainer. I hope one day MG can recognize that too," she recited off, albeit a bit too poetically. Jaye was glad when she offered a one on one. He smiled, flaffy and a fire type were on equal terms that was for sure. So he also wouldn't have to worry about MG going overboard too much. As long as she did't light stuff on fire, which he was always afraid of whenever they were training. "MG" he asked as the ponyta looked up to him. Her fire blazed as she looked back to Haruka and the flaffy. Her eyes narrowed slightly towards Usagi, before stepping out and standing still as there was more than enough room for them to have a battle here. "You'll have to teach me how to be optimistic like you." he laughed as he placed his hand on his hip. He was enjoying his time, with that as well he was watching his ponyta like a hawk. Concern as well as hope in them as he cleared his throat. "Let's start this off with a tail whip MG!" he called as he pointed towards Usagi. MG pressed a hoof against the ground and started in her run directly towards the fluffy sheep. MG had fought against pokemon in a ring - though none controlled by trainers. This was her first and in her head was just winning. Carefully as her trot stopped she turned around and hoped to smack her fire tail in the face of her opponent. The attempt was made with her head turned to watch the flaffy's movements. As Jaye watched her closely he clenched his fists and waited, he knew that this battle could last as long as it needed and highly considering neither of them were at a disadvantage... there was no way to tell who was going to be the winner. Placing her hands above her head, the girl gave a slight nod before commenting, "It's simple really. I was always worried about the elite four, the gym leaders, and even father beyond. I was always so preoccupied with those thoughts, that I never faced the challenges in front of my face. For the longest time I was afraid of falling... but reality taught me that the fall is half the fight, and I had to give it my all or else I would never come to know the sweet taste of victory." [break][break] Speaking of victory, she would taste it here as well, and she would savor it until she could get another chance. His first move was Tail whip, the provocative maneuver of the pokemon would obviously effect the outcome of her flaffy's future attacks. 'Well played.' She was never one to hold back however, and would immediately return the favor. "Okay Usagi! Use Cotton Spore!" she said, the dense fluffy coat of the wool pokemon expanding rapidly to consume the immediate vicinity. This wool, charged with the electric types static was designed to cling to the body surface of the ponyta, and would likely prove to be equaling troublesome to the fire type by reducing its speed immensely. [break][break] This was only her first step in her plan of attack and she was curious as to how the trainer would respond. "Seems hard for me... I don't get worried nor scared easily." when he actually thought about it - his life was very simple. His parents loved him and he hadn't known stress nor strife in his life. Jaye took things in stride, certain things annoyed him for sure he had his own taste's but he had never felt true anxiety or fear. "I'm a bit of a simple person, I've never had a rough time of it. So I actually wonder what it will be like when I actually do. The most exciting thing that's ever happened to me is getting MG and me joining the military." he grinned. Watching then as MG was engulfed by the spore - the growing fluff with static on it surprised the ponyta. Making the creature stumble backwards, however she was close enough towards Usagi. "Use Inferno MG!" Jaye was quick, as such the ponyta who had a hard time controlling her flames lit ablaze. The attack that she attempted to catch Usagi in burned brightly. The flame that she was the center of span in a circle and continued to expand. "Be careful!" Jaye said out of worry - not wanting the possible flame to hit Haruka. From the rising fire he could even feel the heat expanding off of it. As MG despite her lack of speed tried to step forward so she could possibly catch Usagi within it. However the sheep was faster than she was at the moment. It was not a attack that couldn't be dodged from the distance between the flames and the user itself. Jaye hoped though that they could have the upper hand with this. Jaye watched in awe however, MG definitely would do well in contests if he could just teach her how to control those outbursts of flames from her. The feeling that you wont amount to anything more than you already had, and the feeling of consistency was comfortable. However in this world, the person that stops, wont ever get anything he wants. [break][break] A sudden plethora of fire ignited from the maw of the pokemon, illuminating the entire field in front of her. The heat was amazing, and the mirrored image of the ponyta lingered in Haruka's blue orbs. "Usagi bear through it and use charge!" Unable to beat the heat, Usagi was consumed, the swirling vortex surrounding her, and Haruka had to take a few steps back. [break][break] Once the flames would subside her Mareep would be left standing there, its body clearly singed and burned in areas, but its body pulsed from the pure energy it now worked to store. Haruka grinned before glancing at the ponyta, clearly they had another chance here to attack Usagi, especially with her defense lowered by that previous provoking tail whip. [break][break] It was pointless to force her opponent to submit to her ideals, and she no longer tried to give him the answers to questions he clearly didn't have anymore. At this moment she could only wish that this battle would ignite passion within him to drive him forward into the future.
