It'd been a long trek to the Safari Zone. He'd moved across beautiful waterfalls, high peaks and was even forced to take a ferry from the mainland of Johto, but word was the safari zone was more than worth it. It was a place where more than a few rare pokemon had made homes for themselves that also was assessable to the public for a price, albeit a high one. Thinking about how much the researcher spent on this excursion made him cringe, but he couldn't help but feel a sense of worth upon glacing at those gates that led to the controlled wild. Not only were the pokemon a bit more diverse than the standard pidgey, but Azad was interested in the controlled environment as a whole and how it worked. How did the warden receive the pokemon and what conditions did they create to make the land so suitable an internment for such a diverse group of pokemon? Even more how did they adjust the grounds so quickly when it was time to allow new pokemon in?
The latter was answered by one of the staff shortly upon entering. Apparently the zone was broken down into rotating districts, distracts that after an amount of allotted time had passed would be closed off while a new one opened. Thus it gave the pokemon in the zone time to rest and relax without having to worry about the intrusion of trainers constantly. It was a wise move and Azad had to give the zone creator a fair share of credit. The high price was put towards upkeep of the safari and prevented massive hordes of people to infiltrate the zone constantly, another wise decision put in place but the warden.
With the new found information the researcher would recieve his three safari balls first calling out Spirtomb to accompany the trainer on this journey of sorts hoping for the pokemon to get a bit more experience in. There were three pokemon that the trainer was intently looking on finding, but despite the time limit he was by no means in any sort of rush content with just taking in the surroundings. He was sure he'd find the pokemon he sought sooner than later, but his first priority was exploring and getting Varus a bit more accustomed to the wild in general, and so with that in mind Azad's Safari Zone trial would commence.

He'd spent about thirty minutes simply wandering the open districts in the zone eyes practically glued to the various habitats and how natural they felt. It was almost jarring to think that this entire location was all manmade. At multiple points during his excursion the trainer couldn't help but think that the rangers seriously needed to up their game if civilians were capable of accomplishing a feat like this (albeit rich civilians) if the ranger's were dedicated who knew what the group of pokemon protectors was capable of.
It was during one such thought in the forest district of the zone that something flew overhead in the darkness of the canopy it's shadow gliding above the researcher moving too fast for the white-haired boy to even see it's full form before the pokemon ducked into the trees. Leaves would fall from the masked pokemon's jaunt leaving Azad bewildered and more than slightly nervous. While Azad felt a twinge of nervousness the trainer's partner would only cackle the ghoulish pokemon at his side more than ready for a fight. While the researcher had been so awed by the scene itself Varus was craving a battle. While he wasn't exactly happy that he'd been caught initially he'd been caught by a trainer that showed prowess, even more the man was nomadic in almost every sense of the word, meaning that the enemies the pokemon could fight were a bit more diverse than what he had in the cave.
The ghastly green eyes would wander to the tree where the new enemy sat, quickly calling out shadowy pokemon, only for it to dash from the branch to the ground. The pokemon revealing itself to be a scyther It's jagged almost aerodynamic body complimented with the scythes on its forelimbs. Azad had never dealt with a scyther before but the idea of acquiring the jagged pokemon and its evolution was one that appealed to the man greatly. Both were known for their power and technical skills, but even more they were pokemon known for their honor, and if for that alone Azad wished to acquire the pokemon.
"Varus, don't get caught up in its speed, play to your strengths. Attack and immobilize, understood?"[the spirit pokemon would grunt facing down its current opponent a sign saying that the pokemon at least halfway understood and moreover cared about the plan, knowing that without the response the pokemon wouldn't be able to battle. Scyther was the first to strike creating a multitude of clones around the ghost pokemon each with a similar piercing glare. It was a tricky technique and if Azad had chosen metang for this fight he would have had to think a bit harder concerning how to respond, thankfully the double team held little threat to the Spiritomb.
With a smirk Azad ordered out his first command, "Fade into the darkness, with your feint attack and strike it from behind!" As the double team became more sporadic admists the scyther's clones the spirtomb would seemingly meld with the darkness of the forest only to hone in original scyther slamming into the pokemon from behind dispelling the technique as the blade pokemon reeled back in pain.
Recoiling from the attack the pokemon would put those blades of his to use. The pokemon's arms would glow with a fierceness seemingly extending in length before slicing at the spiritomb with its X-Scissor doing a fair amount of damage to the dual ghost/dark type pokemon in return. With both pokemon injured the two would back off from each other tension growing as they stared each other down.
"Hypnosis!" The researcher ordered next only for the spirit pokemon to release hypnotic spirals from its eyes almost immediately entrancing the bug type pokemon causing it to fall into a light sleep. With the pokemon asleep the trainer would order his next attack. "Dream Eater." As if pulling energy from the bug pokemon subconcious the ghost type would unleash the psychic attack its wounds healing from the dream eater dealing a fair amount of damage to the sleeping scyther. Unfortunately with its dream eaten the bug pokemon would wake up ready to continue the battle.
As opposed to attacking directly now the pokemon's arms would begin to glow as a whirlwind began to form around the pokemon as if it was charging for something. Azad didn't know what the pokemon was preparing, but hopefully the trainer and his pokemon could finish this up before the duo found out. "Confuse Ray!" Was the next command while the scyther charged its attack the spirit pokemon released a multicolored orb stealing the focus of the blade pokemon almost immediately confusing it. Despite the pokemon's confusion the scyther still managed to preform its technique firing blades of wind at the spiritomb. However due to the pokemon's typing the razor wind would simply phase through the ghost type, however the attack was thrown off thanks to the confusion leaving a few blades for azad himself to dodge. One of which the man wasn't able and left him with a nasty cut on his upper arm. Before the man took care to treat himself he'd finish the battle swearing under his breath as the pain ebbed.
"Hypnosis once more." And if responding only to the trainer's tone the pokemon would unleash another hypnosis without complaint once again putting the the bug pokemon to sleep. This time, however, no attacks would follow the hypnosis. With the bug type both confused and asleep hopefully the pokemon could be caught. With his bleeding arm the man would throw the safari ball watching the red light absorb the pokemon only for it to begin shaking. With blood dripping down his arm the man would watch carefully with Varus hoping this would seal the deal. -------------------------
-Azad and Varus (Spiritomb) Run into scyther -Varrus calls Scyther to battle -Scyther begins with double team -Varrus counters with Feint Attack -Feint Attack hits due to the property of the move -Scyther counters with X-scissor (hits) -Varrus switches strategies and uses Hypnosis -Hypnosis hits Scyther falls asleep -Scyther is asleep -Varrus uses Dream Eater and restores HP -Scyther wakes up, begins to charge Razor Wind -Varrus uses confuse ray, Scyther is confused -Scyther uses Razor Wind, doesn't effect Varrus (ghost type) -Razor Wind hits Azad cutting his arm badly -Varrus uses Hypnosis against already confused scyther -Scyther falls asleep -Azad throws pokeball/ hasn't treated himself yet.

The battle is a tough one, with the prideful scyther fiercely fighting back. However, thanks to Azad's perseverance, the wild pokemon falls. You have proven your worth as a trainer to the bug/flying type. Azad captures a Scyther! [break] [break] Continue adventuring? You have two safari balls left. The ball rings once and the man clenches his fist... The Ball rings twice and he can feel the blood drip down his forearm... The ball rings thrice and finally the liquid reaches his palm dripping onto the green grass...
And finally the ball seals itself shut a solemn ding confirming the researchers capture. Almost immediately the man falls to a knee taking a look at the nasty gash on his forearm. If anything he's thankful he chose to wear a short sleeve out into the wild today lest he risk bleeding on his nicer clothes. Spiritomb although the pokemon wouldn't admit it was worried for the man, but the trainer simply reaches in his bag pulling out the appropriate supplies, all the while retrieving Scyther's pokeball adding the safari ball to his belt.
He'd first disinfect the wound with some alcohol and ointments he kept with him, thankfully his nature as a researcher left the man prepared to deal with accidents not unlike this one. The ghoulish pokemon would watch with interest as the trainer continued to patch himself up wiping the already drying blood off his forearm before finally wrapping the wound itself in a tight bandage. He'd have to get it looked at later, but for now this would have to do. The man had the option of simply returning to base now and receiving treatment immediately, but there was still so much to do and see, not to mention the fact that Azad still had two safari balls remaining. He'd be a fool to turn in so soon and so he'd simply suffer through the pain refusing to linger on something so trivial in this otherwise fantastic experience. Even more the trainer was still riding off the high of his newest capture. The scyther with its fighting spirit would surely become an integral part of the researcher and fighter's team in due time of course. With that thought in mind the trainer would then look toward the pokemon that'd battle so far thanking the ghost type who growled at the trainer more than satisfied itself with the battle.
With everything taken care of Azad would decide to leave the keystone pokemon out of its pokeball as it seemed in better than fair health allowing the ghoulish pokemon to travel with him as he continued to wander the safari. The next destination? The water zone.

The next pokemon to appear is one native to Sinnoh, or perhaps technically was it native to Kanto. Snorlax were a species first discovered in the region adjacent to Johto, but the preevolution was something ironically enough found on the otherside of the world in the much colder sinnoh region. How exactly these discoveries came to be was beyond the trainer, but were simply facts in the pokemon world. Magby and Elekid were two other pokemon that deal with such an interesting conundrum. That said the ideas and research behind the discoveries of Munchlax were largely in consequential right now as one simply stood in his and by proxy spirtombs way to the water zone, and while Azad had an interest in the normal type pokemon as well as its evolution the trainer had to be careful with his safari balls, and as such Munchlax wasn't his priority when it came to the pokemon readily available in the safari. If Azad was able to obtain a second pokemon no strings attached, then he would spend his last ball on the gluttonous pokemon, but until then the normal type was simply in his way and served as a good battle partner for spiritomb, specifically sense the ghost type had such a heavy advantage over the normal type.
With this in mind of course Azad would send the ghoulish pokemon forward once again this time the trainer wasted no time taking the lead, seeing as munchlax weren't exactly known for their speed. "Feint attack. Let's take this one down fast." And so as ordered the dark type would draw in it's enemy only for a spectral flaw to slam into the normal type sending the gluttonous pokemon reeling back only for the normal type to charge in with it's chip away only the faze through the ghost pokemon unable to hit the ghost with the attack entirely. However the failure of the normal type's technique led to an opening for the ghost one that Azad wouldn't let slip away. He'd cross his arms thrusting his injured one outward ordering the next command. "Hypnosis now." A pokemon who was already known for it's love for rest had no issue falling asleep almost on the spot allowing for Azad and Varus to finish the battle up quickly. Unable to attack due to having fallen asleep the duo would begin to attack the enemy more recklessly.
"Dream Eater." was the first of money commands fired that familiar psychic energy would begin to siphon off the normal type's energy restoring the little HP spiritomb needed to recover its full health. Ironically enough the normal type didn't seem to mind too much for to engrained in its sleep to really deal with whatever eldritch entity was eating its dreams making it much easier for the two to rap up the battle.
It took a total of three dream eaters to finish the pokemon off, but the pokemon didn't so much as flinch being so prone to sleep and so when the job was finally finished the two would simply side step the sleeping pokemon feeling a little stronger, but also a little bewildered at how the normal type managed to live its life like that. Certainly if Azad managed to find a second one after his next encounter he'd surely fight for it.

Following the trainer's run in with the Munchlax the trainer would once again nod to the chained pokemon in thanks before the spiritomb returned this time to the odd keystone a green light emenating from the stone piece showing that currently the pokemon was relaxing inside it's broken prison, or home at this point. To which the researcher had no complaints, while he hadn't been hurt too much physically thanks to its ability to recover health with dream eater the trainer knew these battles could be especially tiring on any pokemon, it was why after the next battle if they found a battle Azad would call the keystone pokemon back to its ball instead allowing another pokemon to take over. It was while the trainer considered who he'd switch out to that he and the ghoulish pokemon would finally arrive at the water district.
It was during his walk around the basin that the water ebbed and flowed little wrinkles appearing across the pond becoming larger as the man move closer, until finally from the water a pokemon would emerge landing on land and splashing the researcher rather severely. Azad couldn't even bring himself to be mad at his attacker the small worm like dragon gawking and laughing at the now soaked trainer. That said while Azad could at least halfway take the joke it was absolutely clear that the now soaking wet keystone pokemon wasn't amused quickly revealing itself from it's vessel landing on the ground to face off against the dratini. That said it didn't seem like the small dragon pokemon would be running from a fight, which honestly was just fine for the researcher, dratini was one of the pokemon he was definitely more interested in when it came to the safari and letting this chance go to waste would be more than foolish, it'd be inane entirely, and so with that in mind the trainer would square his body taking position behind the Spiritomb ready to begin the battle.
Surprisingly enough the wisp pokemon actually managed to steal the first move the trainer beginning the battle by ordering a feint attack and so the spirit pokemon would feign an opening only to capitalize on the dratini encroachment with a spectral fist slamming into the side of the dragon pokemon while the enemy would then attempt to respond with a slam attack. Thankfully the ghost pokemon was immune to the technique the slam simply fazing through the ghost type as most physical attacks did. Using the opening the researcher would call out a second order. "Hypnosis." As the dratini turned from its failed attack it'd turn only to be caught in the ghost types trap the spirals of its eyes quickly capturing the dragon in a trance forcing it to fall asleep. "Follow it up with dream eater!" The trainer wouldn't hesitate in beginning his tried and tested combination technique, but for the first time today it failed. Before spiritomb could successfully eat the pokemon's dream Dratini would wake up abnormally fast, and in quite the magnanimous way as well. It's entire body would glow for a moment before the status condition simply faded from the pokemon revealing a dratini fully awake and ready to continue the battle. Azad confused by the phenomena first thought the pokemon was evolving, however upon pulling out his pokedex he learned that the odd occurrence was actually the dratini's ability, "Shed Skin...?" As if sensing the opening itself the dratini in its completely woken state would launch its strongest attack. A short torrent, or even more, a purple orb that looked to be a mix of both fire and electricity shot from the dragon type's mouth instantly colliding with ghost type dealing enough damage to hear the ghost type cry out in pain. It'd been the first time the pokemon had taken so much damage since Azad had caught the keystone pokemon.
Still, even with the heavy hit the battle wasn't even close to finished as such Azad would order his next technique, "Confuse Ray." And so with the focus on the massive wisp the creature would create a multicolored orb of flashing light only for the orb to explode in a larger flash immediately dazzling and leaving the dratini confused. In its new found confusion it'd attempt another dragon rage only for the attack to veer too far to the left to hit the keystone pokemon. "Don't let it regain its balance feint attack!" This time the ghost would take advantage of the confusion almost like a shadow using it's odd keystone to plow into the dragon type taking more of its health, but in reaction despite the confusion the dratini waited until it's ghoulish enemy was in close range taking away the factor of aim unleashing his thunder wave on the ghost type.
While the ghost type wouldn't recoil in pain it's body would be severly slowed sparks both blue and yellow could be seen exuding from the rock and even the specter itself. Azad couldn't help but feel his body tense up this dratini had more fight in him than the man was expecting, but that meant the pokemon was worth it. Piercing green eyes honed in on the enemy quickly deciding the best course of action. Knowing that the dratini was still confused and had taken a more than fair amount of damage it was about time to wrap this up. "Hypnosis!" It was a riskier play, shed skin could of course activate again, but even so putting the dragon to sleep would be the easiest way to capture it. He just had to throw the pokeball before the ability activated.
Due to the paralysis the ghost type was slower this turn, and so it was forced to endure another dragon rage, the familiar orb of flame and electricity striking true this time causing the spiritomb to reel back in pain once more, there was no way the spirit was taking a third one of those. Thankfully the hypnosis would fire without a hitch, and due to the confusion the pokemon was easily put to sleep by the technique. With everything in line the trainer would launch his second safari ball.
The green orb would tap the dragon pokemon's head and what baited breath the man would begin the wait. Continuing the battle from this point would be more than difficult spiritomb was about out of energy and anymore dragon techniques from the small watery creature would spell disaster for the ghost type.

After a tough battle the Dratini was put to sleep, and Azad threw one of his remaining two Safari Balls at it. The ball shook and shook before it settled and the Dragon Type now belonged to him. You have one safari ball left, do you wish to continue?

It's tense as the seconds pass once again the red ball rolling wildly in place as the trainer himself waits for the pokemon to appear again or for the solemn ding signaling his capture. If this didn't work he had a final ball, yes, but pushing Spiritomb any farther would risk the pokemon fainting. Even glancing at the keystone pokemon now it's aura coming from it's rock prison was fading in and out at this point a sign that it definitely wasn't in the best of health.
And so the trainer waits with bated breath for the final result attempting to create some variation of a contegency plan if the capture fails, but thankfully after that third role the ding he was hoping for rings across the entirety of the coast line signaling that this battle was won by none other than spiritomb and that Azad had a new powerful member on his team one that he could believe in undoubtedly. Before even retrieving the ball the trainer would move to his ghoulish friend patting the keystone down before spraying the spirit with a paralyz heal relieving some of the soreness recieved from the trip.
"You did well my ancient friend, rest easy now." After the quick treatment the ghoul pokemon would return to the ancient slab that it called home before azad would return even the slab to its pokeball only now retrieving the pokeball of dratini from the ground. If only to meet his new friend the trainer would call the dragon type from its pokeball revealing the snake like dragon who despite being a bit more injured than he was prior seemed just as playful as it was prior to the battle. Azad would spare little expense healing his new pokemon. using his two remaining potions to restore the dragon to full health. It was time to see what the dragon type was capable of, and so with his new ally in tow the man would search for another battle.

The next pokemon to appear was one that'd watched the entire battle prior deciding to want a piece of the action for itself. From the horizon a Lapras would sail onto the grassy shore preparing itself for a fight, and who better to send out than the Dragon who the researcher just claimed. Emerald eyes glanced down at the worm like pokemon who seemed more than ready for a second fight despite its previous loss.
"Well, you and I will get along just fine new friend. Let's take home our first win." The man glanced at his watch knowing he had maybe a half hour before this safari came to an end, and while lapras was beautiful, graceful and quite the powerful pokemon the trainer had little interest in capturing one, at least on this day no this would be a battle to test the dragon's capabilities and while there was a disadvantage for the pokemon hidden in its enemy the trainer would still proceed.
"Dragon Rage." The technique that after a time or two almost decimated spiritomb was now at the trainers command and so the orb of draconic fire and electricity would form firing from the dragon's mouth slamming square in the lapras' chest knocking the sea bound pokemon further into the water. If only to counter the ice type would fire its own technique, a water pulse that while damaging wasn't quite as effective as the water type would have liked.
"Take the battle to the sea, use thunderwave." And so the newest ally would respond understand the trainer's idea it was a technique the pokemon used to hunt after all and so the dragon would jump into the water electrifying it's body quickly paralyzing the water bound enemy. The pokemon would attempt to use ice shard but the dratini was simply too fast dodging the icicles as they moved at half speed through the water. When the dratini rose it was to finish the lochness pokemon. Dragon Rage. and with a second and final orb of pure energy fired at the sea pokemon it was promptly knocked unconcious. Pretty good for their first battle.
---- Knocked out Lapras +1 on dratini
