Still running his mouth like a rare wild Pokémon fleeing from a excited young Trainer, Alec spoke words that went in one ear and out the other—their upbringings and morals obviously different. The way this Coordinator saw Pokémon battle just proved how ignora- uninformed he was over the matter. Like a iceberg, if you only see the tip of it that is what you believe to be there. However, dive deep below the frigid icy waters and you'll see there is much more to the protruding tip of ice. Raising Pokémon and battling follows the same ideology—you'll have to dive into the lifestyle to fully understand. Once you are fully invested, once you look beyond all the training, all the practice, drills, repetition, and battles, your eyes are opened. You're conquering not only yourself; your limits, fears, overturned objects in your road of life, but also helping a Pokémon(s), friends reach their true potential and continue the cycle. Only the best of the best who can do this will achieve greatness and become the champion they were meant to be. To an outsider looking in, it is only natural that they see what they want to see, but to the people that live the life and want to grow beyond their own expectations, this is a lifestyle not a single one would be willing to drop until they prove to the world and themselves they are the best of the best.
The mention of betting ones freedom made Chancelor cock a brow at Alec—this foo' was on some other shit. Chancelor understood, there needed to be a reason not to lose, but freedom is something no man should be willing to bet all willy nilly. Freedom is what makes a man a man, what drives him to reach the heights he is meant to reach. If you're willing to bet it, your life obviously has no sense of direction—playing a reckless game of 50/50 isn't direction; it's foolishness. Chancelor couldn't understand, nor did he want to understand. He was destined to be the greatest man alive and as the one who will be the greatest man alive, he had a sense of direction—a direction pointing him directly upward; towards the top; past the tallest mountains; past all the stars in the sky, and even past the pearly gates floating atop holy clouds.
But enough with all this, it was time to play this game of chance.
After hearing the rather simple rules, Chancelor was ready to play. Standing tall, looking the Gambler deep in the eyes, clearing his throat, then spoke. "Misery loves company, right? Pairs."
