♦♦♦♦ ♦♦♦♦ She had heard about it from town. Past the waterfalls and bridges in the nearby route, there was a cave that trainers and martial artists frequented when looking to do some serious training. While training sounded nice and all, Mirai's real motivation for visiting this place was to find some interesting Pokemon as she overheard that a few elusive ones tended to show up here. Rumors were still rumors though and she didn't want to get her hopes up too much, but exploring a cave meant there were also opportunities to see some unique rock formations that she might be able to use as material. Still, even if that turned out to be a bust too, then they could definitely engage in a bit of training. All in all, there weren't many downsides, except maybe the difficulty of trekking there. They had just taken a few steps in and already the up and coming Coordinator was feeling a little fatigue from their hike.
"Let's take a break for a bit Buizel-kun. That was a rather rough route. Afterwards we can take our time exploring this place. I have a good feeling about it actually and my first impressions tell me it's quite promising."
Buizel smiled and nodded as Mirai reached into her bag for their packed lunches. For her it was some specialty sandwiches from a local shop in town. For Buizel it was assorted berries. They sat down at the edge of the cavern where they could enjoy their modest meal with a little light peering from an opening in the ceiling. The ambiance of the scenery was truly serene. If she remembered right, there should be pond somewhere there too. There might be a good photo opportunity for Buizel in a watery cave backdrop. As they munched on their food, a cool breeze would blow past them, carrying the delicious scent quite a bit of distance.

This was awful. How could someone like him end up mixed up in a group like Team Virus? He wasn't quite sure what all they were up to, but it was certainly nothing good! But what was he supposed to do now, just go back on his word and run away like a coward? No, he couldn't do that to Holly. This was all for her. He simply had to keep reminding himself of that, focusing himself on the positive side of things whenever he started to turn toward the negative. Unfortunately he was already largely pessimistic, which made it a trial. In fact it would have been largely impossible if his love wasn't there to serve as a guiding light to happiness.
With a deep breath Yoizuki looked down at his pudgy companion, fear and anxiety showing clear on his face as he spoke. "It is time Snacky. We can not just sit around anymore. We have to get strong. We have to protect Holly. We can do this." The munchlax stared up at his trainer with a big smile yet vacant eyes, like he was looking straight through his trainer as he spoke. With a defeated sigh the reluctant virus member would adjust his gloves and his jacket, a slight shiver running down his spine as he looked ahead. "Let us get going then..."
Not even ten minutes into their first venture into the wilderness Snacky found himself being distracted, the faint smell of edible goods catching his attention. Without a word the hefty little creature would start barreling off toward the source of the smell, forcing his trainer to keep up behind him. Despite his long legs Yoizuki had spent most of his life behind a computer with a severe lack of exercise, among other things. This made things difficult. "Snacky slow down! Where are you going!?"
It wasn't until they neared the mouth of the cave that the situation became clear to the trainer. The tower of a man had to stop for a moment, leaning forward and bracing himself on his knees to catch his breath while the munchlax continued forward. With a cheerful muuuuuunch! the gluttonous pokemon would come to a stop in front of Mirai and the buizel. He would silently stare at them with a wide grin, hands outstretched as he wiggled back and forth in anticipation. "He...He wants your food."
The scrawny giant would finally come up behind his pet, shoulders hunched forward as he stood in his usual slumped posture. "I-I am very sorry to bother you. He just...Well he is very hungry and sometimes he smells food and if you could just give him a little I would appreciate it I am very sorry." His eyes frantically moved between the stranger and her pokemon, every word of his rambling dripping with nerves and anxiety. Despite his massive stature it almost seemed as if the man was frightened of the small girl before him.

♦♦♦♦ ♦♦♦♦ As Mirai nibbled on her sandwich there was a minor interruption to their otherwise peaceful mealtime in the form of a certain Pokemon rushing towards their location. Buizel was the first to notice and her ears perked up in alarm. She tapped Mirai on the side to point out the incoming "trouble" and she paused and turned to look at what it was. It was a Munchlax, no doubt drawn to their location by the smell of food. Behind him was who she presumed to be his trainer.
It was nothing too unusual at first. When the Munchlax stopped in front of them and had his hands out in anticipation, Mirai didn't need to be a Psychic to know it wanted some food. What surprised her more was when his trainer finally caught up and made it to the cave too. The dude was a giant, almost 3 whole feet taller than Mirai was. But while his height was imposing, he also looked really tired out and was panting. It was hard to really say if he was scary or anything. He even politely asked on his Pokemon's behalf if they could share some food with it. Though in her opinion, he probably needed the food just as much. Or at the very least a drink of water.
"You look like you could use a bite too. You're welcome to join us."
Mirai smiled and offered a seat on the rock Buizel and her were sitting on. Buizel was already more than halfway done with her lunch. The Sea Weasel Pokemon had always been a quick eater and while she was normally generous enough to her teammates, she was a little more reluctant to share with a stranger. Mirai on the other hand was already on this, rummaging through her bag for another packed meal that she was saving for the trip home. It wasn't a big deal. All that meant was they were going to eat out then instead. She gave a couple of sandwiches to Munchlax to start with and then handed another sandwich and bottle of water to the tall trainer.
"It was a tiring hike going up here wasn't it? Buizel-kun and I had to take a break too almost as soon as we arrived. I'm Mirai by the way. We're here for I guess some sightseeing and rare Pokemon. What brings you to these parts?"
She would listen intently as she continued eating but somewhere along the conversation, the was a second interruption in the form of a couple more Pokemon. These definitely did not belong to any trainer. From the cavern side, a floating disk-like Pokemon wandered in randomly fro the dark. It was a Bronzor, staring at them curiously. From the cavern entrance, a much larger and more intimidating Pokemon crawled in from the outside. It was a Heracross, and it was probably here for the same reason Munchlax was earlier, drawn in by the smell of food.
"I don't suppose these are friends of yours. I'll handle the Heracross. I don't think Munchlax will have a good time dancing with it."
Mirai stuffed the last sandwich in her mouth and chewed and swallowed it quickly before getting up to face their unwelcome visitor. Now that she had thought about it, she didn't really have an immediate answer to this type of Pokemon either. She could try to defeat it with brute force with Buizel, but maybe there was a less risky option. In the end she decided to take a little gamble.
"Gastly-kun, I need your assistance!"
The mischievous ghost Pokemon appeared in a flash of light and had a quick look around. She snickered at the Munchlax stuffing itself and then turned her eyes at the bug Pokemon crawling from the ceiling. In some ways, it was kind of scary.
"Use Dark Pulse! Followed by Lick!"
Mirai was hoping to restrict its movements. With Dark Pulse connecting first, the Heracross flinched despite resisting it, giving Gastly the opening to move in close to use Lick. She didn't have much luck inducing paralysis though and the Single Horn Pokemon managed to recover from its momentary daze. It then proceeded with the one move Mirai prayed it wouldn't have. A Night Slash was attempted at Gastly who got grazed when she attempted to dodge it from up close. She really felt the damage but at least she managed to avoid a critical hit. Mirai's gamble failed. Normally one would pull out from close quarters knowing a super effective move was waiting for them there, but she felt like there was one more thing they could do that being close was in their favor. After all, paralysis wasn't the only gimmick in Gastly's move set.
"Hang in there Gasly-kun! Use Hypnosis!"
As Heracross was totally focused on Gastly at this point, it was also that much easier for Gastly to maintain eye contact and put it to sleep. The bug Pokemon's grip on the ceiling loosened from its slumber and it ended up dropping on the ground, dozing away.
"Great work! Let's finish this! Dream Eater!"
It was a powerful move. Gastly had just learned it recently and it served not only as a super effective option on Heracross but also a means to recover her health from the nasty attack they took earlier. Fast asleep, it took two uses of Dream Eater before the Single Horn Pokemon finally succumbed to the damage while Gastly restored herself back to her best condition. The Gas Pokemon flew a victory lap above the fallen Heracross in celebration, looking very pleased with herself.
Mirai gave Gastly a thumbs up and then turned around to see how her tall companion was doing on his side.

A look of confusion overtook the thin man's features, his eyes wide and his moth slightly agape as the girl invited both him and his companion over to join them for their meal. Was she serious? No, no he must have misunderstood. There was no way that a stranger would treat him with such kindness. This had to be some sort of empty gesture that she knew that he would politely decline. That was the only answer that made sense. He rose his hands in front of him, shaking them quickly as he shook his head. "No. No no no it is fine, really. I am not hungry at all so you just go ahead I will be just fine thank you very much for your kindness though."As he spoke Yoizuki would slowly approach the group, his face uncomfortably forced into an awkward and smile. Meanwhile Snacky was eagerly snatching up the sandwiches offered to him. Mouth opened wide as he tossed both sandwiches in to his gullet and swallowed them whole. He held his hands out once again as his mouth snapped shut, eagerly awaiting more treats. "Oh do not mind us, really we are just out here training to get Snacky here big and strong. B-but you do not need to worry about us or anything we will be fine on our own so why do not we just get out of your hair?" Yoi reached down to give take the hefty pokemon's hand, giving it a soft tug as he tried to pull him away from the food. But the gluttonous pokemon did not budge, still staring intently at the blue haired girl and her pokemon. Just as the awkward giant was about to start pleading with his pokemon two forms started to emerge from the caverns, causing him to freeze in place. Wild pokemon. He had never encountered wild pokemon before, at least not like this. Normally he would have someone with him to help fend off any belligerent or simply use a mode of transportation that would subvert the threat. But no, now he was the one who was going to be doing the protecting. The hacker sucked his lips into his mouth and bit down, unable to tear his eyes away from the approaching pokemon. What should he do? He quickly turned his gaze to Mirai, who seemed to already be prepared to engage in battle. It was a shame she had to bring out a ghost of all things. Those things never failed to send a shiver down Yoi's spine, and it always felt like they could smell his fear. But this wasn't the time for these things. If he was going to protect Holly he would have to face his fears and become a skilled trainer with powerful pokemon. And this would be his first step. Yoizuki straightened his posture, standing fully erect for the first time as he stared at the bronzor. While he managed to maintain a mostly neutral expression it was hard to miss the fear and anxiety in his features. "Y-yes. Yes of course I will be the one to defeat the...Uh...Other one." Oh dear he did not know what this pokemon even was. Reaching into his pocket the inexperienced trainer would pull out a pokedex, frantically searching for any information it had to offer on the coin shaped creature. Snacky was much quicker to act, however. As it became clear that the woman feeding him was too busy fighting to continue to feed him he became determined to help her. The sooner the fighting was over the sooner they could get back to eating, right? The munchlax took a deep breath, eyes narrowing into a glare as he stared down the bronzor. When he exhaled he would let out a terrible screech, the soundwaves directed and focused onto his opponent. Though the sound was still unpleasant for all others in the area, the steel pokemon would be the only one harmed by it's effects. But it was still enough to call the attention of his scrawny trainer, the sudden sound causing him to jump and almost drop his pokedex. "S-Snacky! What are you doing!?" Meanwhile Bronzor was flinching from the intense vibrations, the vibrations travelling through it's body seeming to greatly disturb it and cause it to drop it's guard. As this happened Snacky would start lumbering forward, a rather sizable tongue unrolling from his mouth as he approached the floating creature. Once close enough the tongue would lash out to lick surface of the bronzor. The sickening feeling of the tongue on it's body combined with the discomfort of the screech combined to cause serious mental damage to the living disc. It already looked exhausted from the attack, but managed to shake off the effects and launch a counter attack. It sent a scrambling psychic signal to the glutton's mind in an attempt to cause confusion. Snacky's face suddenly grew tense as it endured the mental attack, seeming more angered than confused. With a sneer he would hold out his thick arms and start swinging wildly at his opponent, hoping to chip away at it's metal form. The bronzor endured the flurry at first, letting out another psychic blast of confusion in hopes it would slow him down. But it was no use as the munchlax continued to chip away at his opponent. With one final blow from his heavy hands the bronzor was sent crashing to the ground, where it would lie still and unmoving. It seemed that Snacky had been proven victorious. All the while Yoizuki was just watching, paralyzed and unable to provide any input on the situation. Once the opposing pokemon wad downed he would quickly look from the battle to Mirai, looking shocked and speechless. Did...did he really just win his first pokemon battle? lvl 11 Munchlax (Thick Fat)Screech | Lick | Body Slam | Chip Away | Amnesia Snacky used Screech! Bronzor flinched lowered it's defenses! Post by Mirai Soleil on May 27, 2018 6:45:50 GMT -5
♦♦♦♦ ♦♦♦♦ To be honest the big guy did worry Mirai a bit. The entire time she had been trying to be accommodating to him, he was anxiously declining her kind gestures and being extremely apologetic. She wondered for a moment if it was actually the right thing to do to leave one battle to him. Could he even battle properly like that? Her question would be answered soon enough.
"Hey, are you alright?"
It dawned on Mirai that he never really gave her his name so it made addressing him a little awkward. Considering how he was like so far, she didn't want to pry too much and make him feel more uncomfortable than he already was. In any case he was standing there in disbelief while his Munchlax was taking care of business. He was more of a novice than she had thought but was incredibly fortunate to have a capable partner. That eased her own worries a little and she walked over and gave him a pat on the back. Hopefully he understood that as a gesture of encouragement. Because from her point of view, he really needed a lot of it. His lack of confidence was almost heartbreaking.
"Yes, you won! Snacky did great!"
He didn't need to say it out loud. The shock on his face spelled it out for her. It was funny really. Mirai's big sister instincts were starting to kick in even though she was pretty certain the guy was several years older than she was. But this was the kind of troubled soul she couldn't just ignore, and her own desire to appear reliable and trustworthy was winning out. At first she thought he was just bad with strangers, but from his interactions with his own Pokemon, the "problem" was elsewhere. She wondered if there was anything she could do for him. For starters, maybe she could snap him out of his speechlessness.
"You should praise him. Pokemon love being appreciated."
There was a high chance that once he recovered, he would once again try to excuse himself and get out of her hair. He did say he was out here to train. But now that they had met and she had gotten an impression of what he was really like, she couldn't find it in her conscience to just let him go like that. She figured she ought to find an excuse to at least hang around him for the day and maybe make sure he didn't hurt himself somehow. She waited until he was a little bit more composed before continuing.
"You mentioned you were here to train right? Do you mind if we have a look around together then? This is my first time here too and it would be more reassuring to have another companion around. The more the merrier."
"Come, let's go!"
It was tricky but she wanted to set up a feeling that he could rely on her while she was also relying on him. She took the lead heading deeper inside the cavern to leave him little choice but to follow and maybe drive the point home that she totally insisted they explore together. Beside her Buizel was looking a little uncertain about their new acquaintances but decided to follow Mirai's lead. Meanwhile Gastly had gone on a bit ahead to scout a bit. By now the Gas Pokemon had grown accustomed to Mirai counting on her to be their eyes in caves like this. She didn't even need to give her instructions.
The passage was very straightforward without any odd twists or random turns branching off. It was a bit spacious too and she could easily see why people would train here. The directness of the path though also meant that it wasn't hard at all to encounter wild Pokemon moving about. A new set eventually came into view. On the left was a Tyrogue practicing some moves on a rock formation. On the right was a Baltoy spinning idly among some stalagmites. At first glance the Tyrogue looked tough and motivated. It was also a Fighting-type Pokemon so it was probably not the best match-up for Munchlax. That pretty much sealed the deal that she would take that one.
"The Baltoy over there doesn't look like it's paying much attention. Maybe Snacky can get the drop on it? I'll take care of this one."
She was about to recall Gastly so that Buizel could have a round with the Tyrogue, but before she could do so, the ghost Pokemon flew right at it, startling it and getting its attention. She could only conclude that her mischievous friend was still pretty excited from her previous victory. There was no use calling her back now.
"Alright Gastly-kun let's do it your way. Use Li-"
Before Mirai could finish, Tyrogue attacked first with what looked like a Fake Out. But it was no use against a Ghost-type Pokemon like Gastly and ended up passing right through her.
"This is unfortunate for him but he's not going to be landing any attacks like that. Use Hypnosis!"
The Tyrogue was still a bit dumbfounded at its attack failing and was easy prey for Gastly's Hypnosis. It teetered to one side and slumped on to the ground fast asleep. Then without waiting for her trainer's further orders, Gastly immediately followed up with Dream Eater. Combined with the difference in their levels, the Scuffle Pokemon shuddered while still asleep before yielding to draining damage of Gastly's attack, no longer able to continue after just one shot.
Gastly smacked her lips and flew around looking giddy after seeing she had won again. Meanwhile after seeing Gastly's expressions Mirai finally figured out what was up. It seemed using Dream Eater was giving the ghost Pokemon some sort of a high. New moves often came with set backs. This was an interesting and unexpected one. They would have to address it later on of course, but for now she was more concerned how her tall friend was doing. Hopefully Snacky was being the reliable Pokemon she thought he was.

Slightly agape jaw suddenly snapped shut as he looked from Mirai to Snacky, still looking dazed and confused by the situation. He tightly clenched his pokedex as the girl praised his pokemon, his head bobbing in a shaky nod of agreement as he watched the munchlax with wide eyes. Mirai's sudden unexpected pat caused him to jump forward, letting out a pathetic yelp as he turned to look at the girl with the same shocked expression. "D-do not do that!" A hand moved to rest on his chest as he took a moment to collect himself. Why did people think that it was alright to just walk up and touch him without permission? Of course he could not be too mad at the girl. Surely she was trying to be encouraging. "I am very sorry about that I just do not do too well with physical contact so if you could please keep your hands to yourself I would very greatly appreciate it thank you." Lips curved into a forced yet apologetic smile as he struggled to convey his a measure of sincerity. But she was right, Snacky deserved praise for his victory. Especially when you consider the lack of assistance from his trainer. "Y-yes! Yes very good job Snacky you are...a natural at this." He seemed unsure of his words, gaze slowly turning to the defeated bronzor as he spoke. Even such a simple pokemon feared him with fear simply due to the fact that it was a wild creature. How was he going to get stronger if every encounter filled him with fear. It was a good thing Snacky was brave enough for the both of them, or he would most certainly fail. Meanwhile Snacky seemed pretty pleased with himself, cheerfully waddling over to Yoizuki as he awaited his reward. "O-oh. Yes I did promise, did I not?" A long arm reached back into the side pocket of his backpack, pulling out as small yellow candy wrapped in plastic. He lobbed the treat to the creature who would snap it out of the air with his mouth, swallowing it whole as he did everything else. "Remember, more fights means more treats." The hungry pokemon nodded quickly as it looked back to Mirai, staring intently as he wondered if she would be providing him with a treat as well. Yoizuki stared at the blue haired girl as she spoke, hardly believing the words coming out of her mouth. She was actually going to go inside that cave!? But she was just a little thing! Granted her pokemon seemed capable enough, but how was she not afraid of what could be lurking inside? Was he really more of a coward than her? That realization made him sick to his stomach, his shoulders drooping as he regained his slumping posture. "Y-you know I really do not think we should-" He could not do anything but mumble his protest, his words possibly not even reaching her ears as she started off toward the cavern on her own. The giant stared at her in awe as he struggled to will his legs into pushing forward. It was not until Snacky started after the girl on his own that he finally budged, long legs carrying him in awkward strides as he ran after the strange young lady. "C-coming!" He could not just leave them to brave the depths alone. This was going to be his first true test as a trainer, and he was going to give it his all. For Holly. As soon as he stepped through the threshold and into the cavern he started to break into a cold sweat. The way their footsteps echoed in the hollow cavern, the endless darkness in the distance, the ever looming aura of dread and despair... This place was awful. But still he managed to keep pace with Mirai, even if he was too unnerved to even speak at the moment. He stopped dead in his tracks as the pokemon came into view, his eyes rapidly darting between them before looking down at his pokedex. He really should have done more studying before setting foot out here. "Baltoy. Yes I will just..." Snacky stared up at his trainer as he fiddled with his pokedex, quickly bringing up the entry for the baltoy. Psychic type, excellent! Snacky could take advantage of this. "O-okay Snacky...Go get it?" The hefty pokemon stared up at his trainer for a moment before letting out a cheerful 'munch!' and sprinting toward the top-like pokemon. His heavy steps quickly caught the distracted pokemon's attention, it's gaze falling on the approaching threat. "I think that you should use your..tongue...move!!" He shouted after the pokemon, sounding as unsure as usual when giving his pokemon the command. Snacky looked over at the trainer in confusion, his unusual command looking like it gave him amnesia rather than clear direction. Brows furrowed as he felt a dull pain in his head, the baltoy attempting to attack him with confusion. Though there were little thoughts in the creature's brain to jumble, his mind in an empty and peaceful state. Of course that did not mean he wasn't annoyed by the attempt. "I MEAN LICK!" With the order clearly given Snacky would start moving toward the wild pokemon again, unrolling his thick tongue from his mouth and giving the baltoy a sloppy lickThe baltoy shuddered from the attack, sticking it's arms out and performing a rapid spin in an attempt to knock him away. Unfortunately the munchlax was too sturdy to be knocked back from the attack, the attack only serving to further anger him. Taking another step forward Snacky would grab each of the baltoy's limbs, stopping the spin mid motion. Once the prey was secured he would hop up in the air and dive forward to body slam his opponent. The surprising weight of the deceptively small creature effectively crushed the clay creature, causing a thick crack to form across it's body. As he stepped away it was clear that the spinning pokemon had been defeated. This...wasn't as difficult as he expected. Snacky seemed plenty capable of taking care of himself, even without his guidance or input. Still there was a certain lack of satisfaction from the lack of input he had on the battle. He was going to need to develop some confidence if he was going to behave like a proper trainer. The sounds of laughter from other trainers witnessing his inability to command his pokemon echoed in his head, sending a shiver down his spine. But at least this Mirai girl didn't seem to mind his incompetence. "Well that was fun we should probably get out now before we get lost or eaten or something right?" lvl 13 Munchlax (Thick Fat)Screech | Lick | Body Slam | Chip Away | Amnesia Snacky used Amnesia! ♦♦♦♦ ♦♦♦♦ The guy had confidence issues. It sort of looked like he'd rather avoid people if he could. He wasn't used to receiving kindness and even declined it. He didn't like to be touched. He was afraid of the dark. Ghost Pokemon seemed to creep him out. And his partner Snacky appeared pretty capable of battling just fine without his instructions and only seemed to cooperate with him thanks to his rewarding of snacks. She wondered if she missed anything, but that was what she had garnered so far from her brief observations of him during their excursion.
This battle was barely any different from the first. Once again Snacky took the lead with independent actions. Meanwhile the instructions from his trainer were more confusing than helpful. And yet despite all his flaws, he was all the way out here far from his comfort zones and tackling a challenge that was probably too big for him. Mirai almost wanted to cry. She would give him a hug if not for the fact that he had politely requested earlier if she could refrain from touching him. Some people were just like that and she respected their desire for personal space. All this did make her curious though why someone like him even decided to become a Pokemon trainer. There must be something bigger than all of his fears and anxieties combined that was driving him to do so and the mystery motivation was totally piquing her interest.
"Just up ahead is a pond near the end of the cave. I wanted to at least see that before turning back around. I promise this is my last selfish request. I understand it's been hard for you."
Trying to balance the tone of her voice between being pushy and apologetic was an exercise she didn't expect to be doing out there but whatever it takes to keep him on board even a little bit longer she was willing to do it. She continued to talk while they were walking.
"Well maybe not really my last request. I'm sorry but I don't think I ever caught your name. It's a bit awkward talking like this and I kept missing my chance to ask. If you don't mind telling me that is."
He had a weird aversion to certain things so she wondered if giving out his name was one of them. Whether he answered or not she would press on until they arrived at the pond she had mentioned. It turned out it wasn't too far ahead anyway. He was going to get his wish to go back soon enough.
The pond area may have been deep inside the cavern, but the ceiling stretched high up the mountain. There were actually openings far above them that let in some beams of light and the effect of it shining on the water's surface like multiple spotlights was subtly dazzling. Since the water was quite still and there were no waves or currents, it looked like a giant mirror of sorts. It was certainly the prettiest sight she had seen in the cave so far and she even quickly took out her camera for a few shots. As she walked closer to the edge of the pond however, there would be a ripple in the water close by and a certain Pokemon would emerge, snapping its claws eagerly. It was a Corphish and seemed it was looking for a battle. It was the kind of behavior you'd expect from something called the Ruffian Pokemon.
"I guess I'll have to take care of this. Sorry but if you could just wait a little, this shouldn't take too long I think."
Once more before she could decide which member of her team to put up against the wild Pokemon, Gastly who was out flying around spotted the Corphish and fired a preemptive Dark Pulse. The Ruffian Pokemon was caught off guard as it didn't see Gastly earlier. What was up with Gastly today was what Mirai's first thought was. It was starting to go beyond merely just a high from using new moves. It was something else. Her eyes widened as she arrived at a new conclusion in her head. Could it be? She would find out if they continued to battle. Meanwhile the Corphish who took a direct hit was lying on its back and having difficulty getting back up.
"For the last time Gastly-kun, please don't act on your own like that again! I'll give this to you but this is your last freebie for the day! Use Dark Pulse again!"
Laughing, the Gas Pokemon fired Dark Pulse a couple more times at the poor Corphish. It probably wasn't expecting an airborne opponent. While the first one rattled it again, the second one was blocked by some sort of shield. The Ruffian Pokemon managed to put up Protect just in time to avoid further damage.
The commotion and disturbance caused by the battle would draw the attention of a certain other Pokemon to the area. Mirai wouldn't notice it just yet, but from where Snacky and his trainer stood by watching, they would spot it first. Buizel wo was standing beside Mirai would notice it too but rather than get her attention from her current battle, the Sea Weasel Pokemon would look in the direction of the pair just watching and gesture if they could take care of the new arrival. Mirai may have put up with them, but Buizel still wasn't too impressed.
Back to Mirai's battle, the now angry Corphish would attempt to retaliate against Gastly by jumping up to try and hit the ghost Pokemon with a Razor Shell. Gastly however was floating just out of reached and giggled even more after Corphish failed to connect. Mirai wondered if it lacked the ability to use long range moves.
"Finish it up Gastly-kun! Dark Pulse!"
The ghost Pokemon resumed with her bombardment of attacks on the grounded Corphish. While it was able to guard against the first few with Protect, the shield soon faltered and the next few shots that made contact would finally knock it out. Smiling triumphantly at snagging another victory, Gastly suddenly began to glow, confirming Mirai's earlier new suspicions. In a flash of light followed by swirling shadows, what appeared where the Gas Pokemon was once positioned was a new more powerful Pokemon. Gastly had finally evolved into Haunter.
"Amazing! I suppose you're Haunter-kun now! Congratulations!"
Now possessing hands of her own, Haunter flew on over to Mirai and gave her a "hug" or at least she thought it was a hug.
"Yes, I'm happy to see you have hands now too! But don't go thinking I forgive you for today's antics just yet!"
It was at this point that she finally turned around to check on her tall companion again, unaware that he might have also gotten into his own battle.

So they were going to go deeper into the tunnell? And there was a POND over there!? No no no that would not work. He could not do that. How was he supposed to go out there when there was a pond lurking along the path? Every fiber of his being told him to turn around and sprint toward the entrance, leaving everything and everyone behind in a panic. But...he could not do that. Not only would it be selfish to abandon Mirai like that, there was a chance that he would just encounter more pokemon while he was on his own. Which in a place like this did not sound at all like a good idea. The only thing that kept him from going into a full on panic attack was Snacky tugging on his pant leg and trying to get his attention. "O-oh. Yes of course." Reaching into his pocket he would pull out another treat and lob it toward the munchlax. This time however the plump pokemon would tuck the treat underneath his outer layer of fur for later consumption. Yoizuki's attention turned to Mirai, who seemed plenty confident enough to push forward without issue. Oh how he wished he had that sort of strength. "Yes. Ok yes I am coming. Just uh...Yes I am coming."There was a visible moment of hesitation before he started to follow after the girl, his eyes frantically scanning the area. Though it was unclear if he was on the lookout for attacking pokemon or a way out of the situation. "Oh I am sorry that I am so rude I can not believe I forgot to share my name. Yoizuki Haruyama." Even as he introduced himself he could not keep his eyes on Mirai, his gaze constantly jumping to other parts of the environment. That is until they reached the pond. He immediately froze upon laying eyes on the pond, staring intently at it for a moment before quickly turning away, shutting his eyes tightly. His mouth tried to open to speak but only a faint whimper managed to escape his lips, his breathing suddenly turning shaky. Despite all of the beauty most people would see in this water, he simply could not bring himself to look at it, let alone get within a few feet of it. It was not until Mirai spoke that he would open his eyes, glancing at her as he was careful not to look at the body of water. "It is fine, everything is fine you take care of that I will be over here." Yoizuki positioned himself so that his back would be turned to the pond, his eyes darting around the area to find something else to focus on. His gaze eventually settled on a glint of light, something that was reflecting the light that bounced off the pond. Metal, perhaps? The 'trainer' jumped as it started to move, an arm extending as he pointed toward it. "Snacky! GET IT!" With another cheer the Munchlax waddled forward, ready to take on his new opponent. It was not until the threat of an attacker made itself known that the aron would fully reveal itself, coming out from behind the rocks where it was enjoying it's earthy meal. Flipping open his pokedex Yoizuki would immediately start reading about the creature, seeming surprisingly intrigued as he read. Slowly the fear and anxiety started to melt away, his eyes widening as he focused intently on the screen in his hand. This was perfect. This was exactly the kind of thing she would want. She would love this. She would love him for bringing it to her. Yes, this was it. With a deep breath the giant would look toward the pokemon, who were only now coming into contact. "Do not use your claws! Lick it into submission!" There was the faintest bit of strength to his voice as he stepped forward, a hand reaching into his jacket's inner pocket to pull out an empty pokeball. Putting faith in his trainer's words Snacky unrolled his tongue to lick the opposing aron, who could not keep from shuddering as the tongue traveled across his body. It almost seemed paralyzed with disgust. Still he managed to push through, charging forward with all his might with a head smash. The tremendous force of the attack sent Snacky tumbling backwards, the force to topple the hefty pokemon. This sight made Yoizuki gasp in surprise, as he was well aware of just how heavy that munchlax was. Now he had to capture it. Holly would be so proud! "Get up Snacky! Just one more good lick!" A bit of excitement entered into his voice, a genuine look of anticipation slowly starting to form on his face. Despite being a bit dazed from the impact Snacky would quickly scramble to his feet and start charging toward the aron once again, even if his course was a bit crooked at first. But once he was close enough he would lick the pokemon once more, the sensation driving the aron to the point of nausia. Seeing this Yoizuki would quickly toss the pokeball toward the dazed aron, which would absorb the creature in a red light and trap it within. The suddenly eager trainer watched closely as the sphere wiggled, waiting for that sweet confirmation of success. He could not wait to share the good news... lvl 15 Munchlax (Thick Fat)Screech | Lick | Body Slam | Chip Away | Amnesia Snacky used Lick! Aron was paralyzed! Aron used Head Smash! Snacky used Lick! ♦♦♦♦ ♦♦♦♦ Mirai didn't realize it earlier but it looked like Yoizuki was battling too. The new Pokemon must have showed up while she was in the middle of battling the Corphish from earlier. She was a little embarrassed that she didn't notice despite thinking to herself that she would do her best to look after her tall friend. On the other hand being able to battle like this ought to be some good experience for him. Snacky was doing great and this time Yoizuki was even able to give some proper instructions.
It was a decent performance. Snacky won and Yoizuki threw a Pokeball to attempt to capture the wild Pokemon. For some reason this was a really touching moment to her. The friend she was worried about managed to win a proper battle and even went on to capture the weakened Pokemon. She clapped excitedly at his victory and successful new addition to his team. It was an interesting choice. She wondered if there was some special reason for him to choose to catch an Aron.
"Congratulations! That was a good battle!"
She rushed over after he picked up his Pokeball with his new capture. She was grateful to Snacky for being such a good partner and so she reached into her bag for a pack of biscuits to give to him as a little thanks. She didn't have much else on her as she had already shared her food earlier. It was fine since they were heading out after this anyway so she could just buy some more on their way home.
Behind Mirai was her newly evolved Haunter smiling gleefully at the pair. It looked like they were both leaving today with some pretty notable accomplishments. One look at her face and you could easily tell she was really pleased and satisfied with today's trip.
"I guess we can head out now. I'm sorry again for dragging you around like this. But I did have a lot of fun! I hope it wasn't too bad for you."
As they made their way back out to the exit of the cave, Mirai rummaged through her bag for a pen and paper. She ripped a blank page from one of her notebooks, wrote her number on it, and tried to hand it to Yoizuki.
"It was really nice to meet you today and I couldn't help but feel you were troubled most of the time we were here. I apologize if I was a little insensitive. I'd like to make it up to you some day so if you're ever in any trouble, please don't hesitate to give me a call. I'd be glad to help you out."
Mirai's sisterly instincts were still in high gear but she didn't really want to impose any more than she already did. Their adventure would end once they parted ways at the exit of the cave. Whether or not they would run into each other again would be up to fate. Or if Yoizuki ever managed to muster up the will to give her a call. To be honest, that gave her some doubts. She smiled and headed off back to the city.
