| DO YOU REMEMBER? LOOK AT ME AND ALL THE THINGS WE SAID WE'D BE. WE BEAT THE HOUNDS, WE PUSHED THE ODDS. WE'D TAKE IT ALL - WE HAD THE CAUSE. WITH YEARS TO BURN AND YEARS TO TRASH, LIVIN' LIFE BASED ON FLASH. BUT SOMEHOW REACHING FOR THE STARS, I THINK WE WENT A BIT TOO FAR.
Madatsubomi Tower. If he had to choose a point where his journey actually began. He'd say it started here. It was hard to believe that it was only a month and a half ago these charred remains were a glorious ancient tower piercing the sky. He remembered walking into the tower that night curious and excited concerning the announcements and the events. It'd been the start of the trainer season, and would serve as a place to make his debut as one of the most skilled trainers in the region, and while in the subsequent month he'd definitely ranked high among the newest trainers in the region his debut hadn't gone as planned in the slightest.
It was here that Azad came face to face with true fear forced to fight for his life with tens of twenties of other trainers who'd come simply for a good time only to be thrown into the chaos of Team Virus. Now he stood on the scorched steps of the tower looking over all the flowers and arrangements testaments to those who'd fought alongside him unable t make out alive.
It wasn't as much humbling as it was shaking. If he'd been any dumber or even unluckier would this be all that remained of him? a basket of flowers in front of this scorched tomb? It made him sick. Even sicker since he felt partially responsible for this. Every set of flowers was essentially another life that could have been saved, that he could have saved. Even now memories of the blond haired boy and his newly deceased older brother haunted the researcher. Like specter the memory had infiltrated even his dreams now.
And so the man had begun to make amends or at least attempted to, that was how LORE started and while it wasn't the largest organization it would do more than the League did for all these lost souls. Hands shoved deep in his pockets the man would stand lost in his own thoughts for minutes more before taking a seat on the steps.
Even now his hands were shaking thoughts of the dead man once again consuming him.
"I should have done more."

'I should've been stronger.'
That was the only thing Vivian could really think of whenever she saw the burned, depressing form of the tower that once stood as a monument for this town. She wasn't really sure why she was here - why she was back. A place she nearly died at? A place where she'd been reminded, once again, that those who weren't strong enough would never make it? The brunette had intended to take only a minor detour to the oriental city only to rest up a bit and prepare to continue her travels. And yet, here she was - approaching the tower that has inspired her to train harder than she'd ever had.
It was a lesson she'd never forget. The smell of people burning alive, the violent quakes of the crumbling tower....She'd been in dangerous, violent situations before - it was the life she lead back at home. But this? This was just a harsh reminder that, yet again, she'd been powerless. And that annoyed her. No - it pissed her off. Why did it seem like whatever training she did was null when it came to putting it to use? Team Virus made a mockery of her - a fool. She'd been assured that she could handle the situation herself - that she could battle that damned Aggron by herself. If she could've...if she had...then maybe...Things would've turned out differently?
Most would think of her as cruel with her ideologies, and how she seldom wept or felt responsible for those lost. Even fewer could understand why this angered her of all things. But, she wasn't heartless. She just knew that grieving for those that had died was just a waste of time. No - she needed to just focus on getting stronger, to ensure that it wouldn't happen again. Whether it be putting Team Virus in their place or, perhaps, maybe playing the role of a 'hero' for once - the girl wasn't sure. As logic-holed as it was though, she had a goal. And she'd stop at nothing to attain it.
Which was maybe why she had found herself being drawn towards the tattered tower, to remind herself of the promise of strength she had made to herself on that day.
As she drew closer though, a particular thing - or rather person - had caught her eye. And the closer she got, the more interested she became, and the more her heartbeat started to quicken. The features became more defined as she drew closer, the sheen of silvery hair to the familiar glare of emerald eyes...it was...
"Azad..." she found herself speaking his name in a low whisper underneath her breath as she approached - but, almost regretted it. What had...taken place between them had happened little more than a week ago, and it still made her cringe. It was enough to make the usually bold, uncaring trainer to stop - to actually hesitate. Just seeing the man was enough to stir feelings that she was annoyed still lingered.
But, she was too close to turn away now.
And so, swallowing the pit that had formed in her stomach, she continued her slow approach - mostly avoiding his gaze for the most part, despite eventually taking a seat beside him on the cold stairs that lie in front of the ruined tower. It was silent - painfully so. But, what did she expect? They left off on such a..gut wrenching note, and even after thinking everything through, those horrid feelings still remained. She wanted to taunt him just like she typically did - maybe call him a 'stupid old man', perhaps threaten to push him off of aforementioned steps but...
"Hey," she found herself saying instead after several minutes of a tense, cold silence. Her voice was, surprisingly, quiet - lacking her usual edge or snarkiness, and instead fitting the almost somber air the tower now gave off.

The man unaware of who'd come to the shrine simply continued to watch his hands shake. The trembling no matter how hard he tried to control it wouldn't stop. It wasn't the trauma of the event that rested in his shadow, no, it was the guilt. It followed him like a gengar slowly sapping away his sanity like the ghost type stole someone's life force. In an attempt to stop the trembling he fold his hands over his knees forcing each digit into a fist, using his second hand to cover the first his grip tightening in this desperate attempt to overcome the guilt.
He hears a whisper in the darkness his gaze shooting up immediately as a familiar face appears at the bottom of the steps those violet orbs drawing him in as they always seemed to do these days. It'd been a full week since their last meetup and while they hadn't exactly left on the best terms he'd written a letter that he'd regretted more with each passing day, regardless of how true each word was. There wasn't a day in the past seven where the girl hadn't crossed his mind multiple times. It was incessant and dumb, but it was natural or at least it was according to his younger brother.
Like a deerling caught in headlights he's frozen, face unreadable as he tries to ascertain the best course of action. He considers leaving in fear of making this whole 'thing' more awkward, but memory of the words written on that note stop him. He said he wouldn't run away, and so he wouldn't leave. Not to mention the fact that despite how uncomfortable it was; being around the girl had triggered that warm feeling. After what feels like minutes of silence the man stands gesturing the girl forward burying his hands in his pockets. He offers a small smile gesturing the girl over to sit before finally speaking, "Take a seat...kid... if you care to?" There was no hostility behind the statement, that anger he had when he typically had when calling her by the hated nickname was nowhere to be found, but the entire statement sounded more like a question than a statement before he revised it. "No I mean... Please take a seat Vivian." He takes a deep breath slowing himself down realizing he was already beginning to lose himself. He had to compartmentalize this break everything down into workable portions.
Though Vivian wasn't really a 'workable portion', but still he'd try his best to separate the setting from the person at the very least offering a hollow smirk, before sitting back down, giving the woman space to sit beside him if she cared to.
"You look" Beautiful. "Well." "Then again you always look," Beautiful. "At the top of your game.I can't imagine how you do it you know? How you stay so." Beautiful. "In control when it comes to this place." A short laugh escaping him now realizing that he'd been talking too long and so eyes moved from the girl to the moonlit sky. The outlines of clouds barely visible as they passed underneath the full moon.

Even in the darkness of the encroaching night, the girl could spot that something was...wrong. The faint tremble of his hands to how he seemed intently trained on the ground beneath his feet - something was wrong. And it didn't take a genius to figure out what the problem was - given where they were both at. However, the girl remained silent for the most part - perhaps afraid that her arrogant, stupid self would say something rather heartless to the man. And, typically, she wouldn't have cared for the most part - she never repressed her sharp words from anyone. Or...at least, that was what she initially thought.
Dammit - just what the hell was Azad doing to her?
When their eyes met, she tried to ignore that stupid, annoying as all fuck emotion that stirred in her stomach. Did it work? Not really. She still found herself thinking back to that...odd afternoon they spent together. That afternoon that went from annoying, to great, to down right depressing all in the span of one day. For a moment, she almost expected him to ignore her - maybe give her the cold shoulder...That's what everyone else did, after all. However, he merely smiled at her, ushering her forward with words that, at first, made her stare sharpen, before, slowly, it softened as he corrected himself.
That didn't stop that familiar, cocky smirk from briefly playing on her lips. 'Stupid old man,' she thought to herself, unable to prevent an almost warm feeling from spreading in her chest. "Yeah," she answered simply with a nod before taking a seat next to him. Being so close, honestly, felt odd. But, the brunette was determined not to let what happened falter her unbearable insouciant attitude any - for the both of them. If she started acting weird, she wasn't sure how 'old man' over there would be able to hold up.
Still, seeing that same, familiar smirk - that damned, annoying smirk that she hated...well, that felt sorta nice. However, even she could tell the hollowness behind it, something was wrong. And instead of commenting on it or mouthing off, the girl was quiet. And for once, she listened.
His paused ramblings were...amusing, least to say. It was hard not to try and speak up to taunt him about it - it was even harder not to have that usually irritatingly mocking smirk of hers come to her lips either. As he finished speaking, she, for a moment, just simply...stared at him. Violet meeting emerald once more, Vivian said nothing. But, finally, with a little sigh, she tore her gaze away from him, focusing onto the night sky above. "I'm used to this sorta stuff y'know?" She spoke up, almost a bit bitterly. She didn't come from the nicest place - she didn't grow up in one either.
She paused for another moment, thinking. "You're...stressed?" She looked over at him with furred brows, eyes briefly meeting his own, before letting out a little scoff and looking away - likely embarrassed. "Or some shit like that. Why?" She was...attempting to show that she cared - somewhat. Even if she had no clue how to approach this whole situation, to be honest. But...she wanted to help - or...something. Ugh, this shit was still confusing - if not even more so. She didn't want to be an asshole to him, but, it was much easier than awkwardly tiptoeing around saying what she meant.

He feels her gaze on him as he rambles on knowing it was unlike him. He was of the mind to suck it up, feeling sorry for himself didn't change anything he knew that. It's why he'd created LORE. But still the images and the guilt kkept him up at night this pointless guilt was his mark to bare, and getting over it seemed only harder as time passed Eyes once again wandered to the girl who seemed to be listening intently. Though recently he hadn't the best record when it came to 'getting over things' shit, in the last week or so he'd even found things he didn't want to get over. Not really anyway.
When she speaks up he's surprised. It's not an insult like he'd expected nor is it the harsh truth she was known for, the one he already knew. that he was being weak and pathetic noting that he needed to get over himself. Generally, the things he'd been telling himself, but instead she decides to speak on her own experience giving an answer he didn't quite expect. He wanted to ask her more, and for a second he was about to, but she'd continue before he got the chance. And in those moments he didn't feel it appropriate to ask about her past, not yet at least.
Still, he can't help but realize how little he knew about the girl, and how much more he wanted to know.
What was her favorite color? Where was she from? Her favorite meal? Her Birthday?
And while the questions were all trivial he couldn't help, but want the knowledge. To know everything about the woman he was falling for. The man took a deep breath stopping that line of thought, he was getting ahead of himself that bad habit of his reemerging with a vengence. She speaks up once more dragging him out of his temporary stasis digging deeper into his insecurities.
"Huh?" He'd act as if he was surprised by the question, as if nothing was wrong, but she'd already seen through that. The look in her eyes said more than enough and so he'd give it a chance. An attempt to describe what it was that was ailing him in words, first turning to the temple behind him "Each bouquet of flowers down there, every picture and plaque is another person who I couldn't save." He'd begin slowly. "How many memorabilia could I have prevented if I was just a little bit wiser, a little bit more focused, a little bit fast, just a little bit more powerful." He could feel the shaking in his hands grow fiercer even while they were hidden in his pockets. "I carried a man out of those doors. A man whose future was all but guaranteed. Loved by his pokemon, his family, his friends. A man who worked hard and because of it his future was bright. But because I wasn't strong enough that future he had waiting for him is gone. And all those people that loved and believed in him have to deal with that because I was too slow, too weak." He pulls his hand out of his pocket placing it against the stone step now. His eyes grew sharper, more focused, it was similar to the boy she'd first seen in battle. This was the Azad that fought constantly mercilessly breaking down his foes in battle. The Azad who didn't believe in failure. Anger and frustration were buried in those as he stared directly ahead as he recalled the scene that'd taken place in this spot only weeks prior. It was like he was back in the moment dragging that corpse through the fire, smoke filling his lungs as bodies littered the wooden floors. He'd recall the weight and the wetness of the blood dripping down on him to a 'T'
"I know... I know there's no point in feeling sorry for myself. I can't bring him or anyone else back. I have to move forward and make sure that never happens again, not in my presence at least." He pauses for a moment hand bawling up into a fist as it rests on the cool stone. "But I'm not moving fast enough. Emerald irises fall to the woman's violet ones. "But this is my own issue. my problem. and I can't... I wont trouble you with it."
I'll suck it up and get over it. Like everything else I'll overcome it." His eyes would begin to ease now that fist slowly losing its tightness softening as the intense ferocity faded, "Because I have to protect the one I care about regardless of how strong she is." A small snicker followed a sad smile following it before the man casually looked away now back towards the city lights in the distance.
Enough about my bullshit. How's Varus. Are they treating you well."

An unflinching gaze rested on the man, prompting him to speak, and unwilling to hear any excuses except the truth of how he felt. Now - that didn't mean he was void from her snapping at him to 'hurry up and speak,' but, thankfully, she didn't need to threaten him to get her way. After a few moments of silence, the silver haired man began to speak, and Vivian began to listen. There were briefs moments of confusion in hers eyes - possibly because she couldn't relate to feelings of such guilt. Was she guilty about her inability to help those lost in the tower? No - not really. She was just pissed that she had gotten ridiculed by that damned Team Virus and that their grand 'show' had been done flawlessly. She felt as though, as a trainer, her pride had been stripped - as though it'd been stepped on right then and there. That was why she was upset.
And yet, despite not understanding completely, she didn't ridicule the man. She didn't sneer in his face or scream at him for his weakness. And as her violet eyes stared into his own - she could see it. The intense, sharp glimmer they gave, the brief flashes of guilt and pain. From his eyes, she could see him there - back in the tower, reliving that horrid day. "Hey. Relax." 'I'm here.' It was a bit awkward - she...wasn't used to comforting people. But, this man - he was one of the few that...she didn't want to necessarily see in such silent agony...Unless she was the one that caused it. And so, she reached forward, a hand hesitantly resting atop his clenched fist - if only for a second. As abruptly as the warmth of her hand was there, it was gone - more than likely because of those awkward, annoying feelings that began to stir about inside of her.
And, of course, there he went - saying some damn, stupid, heart-wrenching and stomach-butterfly inducing words that made her glower sharply at him. She...wasn't sure if he could see the faintest dust of scarlet that littered her cheeks at the quiet comment he gave. "....S-shut up, dumbass." She muttered under her breath, words sharp, but, lacking their typical 'bite' to them. Despite this, her flustered look disappeared as she registered just what he had said. 'his own issue - him bothering her,' was what he had said. And for some reason, it was more so that that bothered her rather than the grief-filled words he had shared.
"Tch. I'm not heartless, y'know?" The words - slightly agitated - came from her lips...It was as though she became offended that he wouldn't give her the chance to 'comfort' him - regardless of how screwed up her version of 'comfort' was. She didn't ask him 'why' just to let himself hear things he already knew and felt, right? Completely disregarding his question concerning the parting 'gift' he had left her for the moment, she glowered at him, letting out a sigh as though to control her quickly rising temper. "If I didn't feel like being bothered, I wouldn't have asked." She grumbled quietly.
For a moment, she paused. But then, quietly, she began to speak.
"Why should you have to suffer for other people's weakness? You can't be strong for everyone if you're not even strong enough for yourself." It was a personal motto she went by. As much as Vivian wanted to act as though the deaths of those who didn't make it out didn't effect her - she knew they did. She knew they were a driving force of what motivated her to beat Team Virus' ass. But, she wasn't about to kill herself with pathetic feelings of sympathy or grief because of her failure. Maybe she was a bit unsympathetic - maybe even cruel. "If I died there that night...I wouldn't want people crying for me or leaving me flowers. I couldn't give two shits about whatever grief you're feeling. I'd want you to take that energy and put it towards getting better - stronger. That's why I don't cry or feel bad - It'd be disgraceful on their part, and pathetic on my own."
She wasn't even sure what she was saying - she wasn't used to giving others advice...And most of the time, it wasn't even good advice. The way she dealt with such things were vastly different than others did - she knew this. And yet...she wanted to try to help. Even if he didn't see eye to eye with her. "You were strong enough to live. Relish in that first."
She fell silent, unsure what to say after her little spiel...Well - aside from awkwardly muttering under her breath, "Er...Varus is fine. Asta....really likes him, I think. He...." 'Reminds me of you,' "Helps me focus."

When she places his hand over his he tenses for a moment before relaxing allowing her hand to calm him. The shaking wouldn't stop entirely but it'd begin to simmer the warmth of her hand warming his own now. His heartbeat wouldn't quicken but his eyes would widen slightly once again playing with the possibility that maybe his feelings weren't too far from her own. Or perhaps she was just trying to comfort a man who couldn't seem to find his own peace. Regardless Azad wouldn't fight her presence, there was no way he could have brought himself to.
As he finished speaking she'd begin a lot on her heart and on her mind, even when he'd told her his feelings in a way that wasn't as much clever as it was subdued she didn't respond with her typical brand of cruelty of brashness. She'd chosen to ignore his question entirely delving even deeper into the topic a variety of expressions falling on his face. Somber, and melancholy were among the first, but as she continued on awe struck him. Listening to the girl with extreme curiosity the man lingered on every word. It was a selfish thing that she said, but just as it was selfish it was true. He couldn't save everyone he knew that, and maybe it wasn't his fault that those that didn't make it didn't make it. But how could he move forward if he was so stuck in the past?
On the subject of her own death, however, he'd tense up a situation where he'd lost her wasn't one the researcher was even willing to consider despite the point she made. Still he'd say nothing gritting his teeth absorbing the woman's lesson. In truth he'd be the same way if the situation was reversed. He wouldn't want someone wasting their time mourning when there was work to be done. While he didn't agree with the entirety of her ideology he agreed with most of it, he may have survived because he was strong, but because he survived it was his duty to honor them in the only way he knew how.
He smiles now and for the first time today it's genuine, and almost just as quickly a wave of weariness sweeps over the trainer having spent so much time lost in his own thoughts and struggles with even just a portion of the weight lifted the man felt how tired he actually was.
"Could it be, is the legendary Vivian the girl who almost killed me on multiple occasions, known for her sharp tongue and reckless behavior actually comforting me?". With his fist diminished he'd grab the woman's hand holding it now refusing to let the girl pull away despite any protest chuckling quietly refusing to take his gaze off her. "Maybe you like me more than I think."
With that the trainer would scoot in closer to the girl to the point there legs were practically touching. If mirroring the situation from last week he'd move in close their faces inches apart....
closer...
closer...
only for his head to pass her mouth completely moving down to her lap. He'd yawn over any protests still keeping her hand firmly in his refusing any protest from the girl playfully indignant. "Hey...just for now...spoil me.." He'd yawn those once focused irises now extremely tired. "For a little bit longer...I'm gonna be selfish." And so he'd lay on her lap fading in and out of consciousness muttering something before drifting off to sleep assuming she didn't kick him off. Something he'd only written to the girl, never spoken.
"Thank you, Vivian. For everything."

clever as the devil but twice as pretty ____________________
The longer she droned on, the more Vivian felt...idiotic? Stupid? Still - it seemed Azad was paying attention to her, for the most part. She couldn't help but notice how...easily she could see the emotions that came to his face - the dismay, the reluctance, the acceptance. It was likely just because of the emotional state he was in - the man was typically much more posed. Or...perhaps she was becoming better at reading him? The thought briefly pleased her...likely because it was yet another thing she could hold over his head. He was incredibly silent as she spoke, but, at the very least, gave her his full attention, even if he said nothing about it - which was fine. Sometimes, silence was the best answer.
...That didn't make her feel any less awkward when trying to help though. It was just so much easier to scream and shout at people, honestly.
And then...he began to speak - and boy, did he speak. His taunting, aggravating reply was....nice - it was familiar. And she appreciated it. Unfortunately, it didn't make her want to push him off the steps any less. She gave him a flat, glowering look. "No - you just looked so pathetic that it'd be a waste of time to bother you instead." She sharply defended herself, bristling almost as an embarrassed look crossed her face. She was not becoming soft or anything like that - especially not for this idiot here.
Her hand was suddenly enveloped in a familiar warmth as Azad's larger took her own. She attempted to immediately pull it back - more so as a reflex rather than a desire - especially since her other hand clenched into a fist. However she, thankfully, didn't go through with that desired punch, and she couldn't really pull her other hand either - his grip was pretty damned firm....And perhaps she wasn't pulling as hard as she could've.
"L-Like you? Why the fuck would I- No, I hate you," she immediately snapped at his taunting words. Despite how harsh they seemed, there was a definite lack of her typical icy seriousness when it came to stating such things. He couldn't be serious, right? Had...she been obvious? E-eh, no, no, she didn't even like him to begin with! She just...tolerated him. Seemingly frazzled for a moment as she tried to make sense of the thoughts, and emotions, that buzzed in her mind, she continued to glower at the silvery haired male. Eventually, she'd open her mouth, positively fuming now, as she scowled - probably prepared to deliver even sharper, fouler words...And then he began to lean closer.
Inch by inch, the man leaned closer and closer - so close that she could feel the warmth he emitted...or, perhaps that was the growing warmth that stirred in her chest? She was frozen - unsure how to act, unsure if she should've pushed him away or just...let it happen. It was just a...Would it be that bad? No - no, what the hell was she saying? Of course it'd be bad! This was Azad - idiotic, stupid, dumbass Azad. And yet, the woman couldn't move. Even if her mind was still trying to come to terms of what was happening, it seemed her body had a mind of its own.
She could feel her eyelids growing heavy, her tense body loosening as he drew closer...All she could hear was hearbeat that thudded wildly in her chest. 'I'm going to fucking kill him,' she thought to herself, but, made no moves to stop the man. He was extremely close now - only one more-
...inch?
With a very blank, yet, very confused face, the brunette stared down at the man who now laid his head upon her lap, looking quite content with himself....Had she just been played? For a moment, she couldn't help but feel...disappointment? A bit sad, maybe? Ugh - none of this made sense. Well, that was until it slowly began to turn into irritation - both at him and herself. Why the hell had she been looking forward to it, of all things?! And how dare he taunt her! For a moment, she found herself simply glowering daggers at the man, unsure how to even react.
Until he yawned.
Oh no. Oh no, no, no. "E-eh? Wait, no, Azad - I'm serious - you better fucking not-" She'd try to interject, but, the man had already made up his mind. Those tired, vibrant emerald eyes of his closing, despite his warm grip on her hand remaining firm. He was really about to just...fall asleep. On her. What the hell?! She expected for him to pop back up - to open his eyes and laugh about how much of a fool he had managed to make of her...Except, he didn't. He was serious.
"You're fucking...kidding me...?" Nothing.
"Azad you asshole, come on-!" Nope.
He was seriously going through with this...And Vivian had half the mind to push him the fuck off of her - and laugh at it. Well, until he quietly mumbled out something she...honestly wasn't expecting.
'Thank you'
...Those were words she hadn't heard in the longest time - and rightfully so. When did she ever help anyone? When did anyone ever genuinely feel grateful towards her? Really, she could count on a single hand the number of times someone appreciated her company. And yet, those simple words meant...a lot to her. Enough that she could feel her heart squeezing warmly from where it thudded in her chest - enough to where her glowered softened as it trained on his tired features. And so, with a soft sigh, she lightly squeezed his hand. Fine - just this once, she'd...overlook 'this'.
Or, at least that was what she tried to convince herself.
She briefly focused on his relaxed features and the warmth he emitted, before looking up at the night sky, tense body finally relaxing.
"...Ugh, I hate you so much."

And so she lets its fly, not like her really gives her a choice as within seconds the dark-skinned man is out cold leaving her to deal with his heavy body. Thankfully in those last moments she seems flustered, but not too upset, and seeing as he didn't find himself waking on the cold stone floor bloodied and beaten (instead finding himself warm head buried in the stomach the of the girl who'd stolen his heart) he figured everything had turned out pretty well. The scene was just as comical as it was cute, the two trainers had been passed out against each other at the top of steps the woman keeping him warm as he rested. He'd slip out of her grip ever so quietly that soft smile growing on his face simply watching the sleeping girl still slightly annoyed she hadn't woken up as it got colder out. If she got sick on account of his stupid ass he'd be upset.
"You idiot." He'd mumble aloud while the butterflies in his own stomach rose ruminating on his own feelings. Remembering the advice she gave and recognizing that was the best sleep he'd gotten in weeks. Honestly he felt like he was back to normal, or at least he was more than he'd been recently, and that was a good thing. Peace of mind wasn't an easy thing to keep he knew, and while all his problems hadn't been solved in their hour plus long pow-wow he definitely had move forward further than he'd been able to since the incident, and there was no exaggeration when he'd believed it was all thanks to her.
Now what was he supposed to do with this situation?
He'd just managed to stand up feeling the chill of the wind even in his coat eyes falling to the half way his arms crossed. There was no way he'd just leave her out here. Carrying her through the streets of Kikyo wasn't an option not only because of what people would assume, but because of what she'd do to him if he let other people see the two like that, especially with the girl so vulnerable. Still they had to make it to the pokemon center and so he'd quickly form a plan taking off his own jacket leaving the man in a solid gray t-shirt.
He'd quickly lay the jacket over the woman before pulling a pokeball from his side revealing a rather sleepy dragonair. The serene pokemon would look over the unconscious girl, before looking to his trainer slightly annoyed at having been woken up.
"I'm sorry Kreiss, but can you give us a lift?" The Dragonair quietly sighed before uncoiling itself and lowering his head. All the while the trainer would softly pick the woman up being careful not to wake her in the moving process carrying the woman bridal style to their newest mode of transportation.
As he reached the pokemon he'd whisper 'thanks' to the dragon pokemon who only rolled his eyes at the trainer before allowing it's trainer to get on. Try to keep us out of sight, the destination..." He'd first think of the kikyo city pokemon center, but not only was it packed it was in the middle of town so landing was difficult and the woman wouldn't appreciate being seen like that still, he knew that much without a doubt. Thankfully there was another pokemon center down by Union Cave only twenty minutes away, and so he'd direct the dragon type there; To the quiet pokemon center outside of Kikyo where he was almost positive it'd be silent upon landing.
As the Dragonair lifted off he'd pull the woman closer into his chest making sure to keep her as tight as possible. How exactly he'd explain this to the girl if... or rather when she woke up he had no idea, but this was simply another lesson he'd learned from Vivian, how to 'wing' it.

Originally, she hadn't intended to fall asleep. Like, at all. There was also the fact that she, somehow, was relaxed enough around Azad to let herself fall asleep to begin with, but, that was an entirely different problem in itself. Originally, she had been wide awake, enjoying the solemn peace and quiet and the warmth of being so close to another. She had, at first, been irritated - a bit pouty, definitely scowling, and probably cursing under her breath. But, after looking down at the man that nestled into her lap, peacefully unaware of her brooding self...she couldn't help but relax. He looked so at ease - so content. No frown nor smirk touched his features, and he And, honestly, a bit...adorable? He was lucky she couldn't reach her phone - else she would've certainly taken a picture to blackmail him with later.
Slowly but surely, she found herself growing more and more relaxed. Through the warmth that Azad offered being so close to her, it was hard not to feel her eyelids growing heavy. Before she knew it, she had carefully nestled herself back against him, and any attempts to fight off the sleep that called her was futile.
The woman was blissfully unaware that Azad had woken first - or that she was currently flying on a sapphire, flying dragon. She hadn't stirred even once...In fact, upon being lifted into the man's warm embrace, she only let out a quiet, soft, 'mmph,' and nestled closer to him, intent on staying fast asleep in his comfortable grasp. Or...so, that's what one might've thought.
As though out of the blue, violet eyes would hazily open, blinking once, then twice as the girl quietly roused awake. She had...no idea where she was. Or what was going on. Trying to recall what had happened before she'd fallen asleep, she quickly found her cheeks darkening and heartbeat quickening. However, as her eyesight slowly improved and she began to make out the world around her...something was...different. The first thing she became aware of was...Azad. Her face was pressed into his chest, hair lightly splayed against him as she was pressed close to him. And for a moment, the violet eyed female simply stared upwards, eyes having an almost unseen softness to them as she tried to rouse herself fully awake. A soft, obviously tired, and yet breathless whisper escaped from her lips, "A...zad? What...?"
When had he...? When had they...? Something wasn't the same. It was windy - she could no longer feel the cold stone of the steeps beneath her and...were those the tops of trees?...Finally, it clicked.
She was fucking flying.
Almost abruptly, the girl's previously limp grip became tight as she clung to Azad - briefly forgetting he was even there for a moment as she sprung up a bit - recklessly at that. "What the hell?!" She snapped, wildly looking around, trying to make sense of the situation...but she couldn't. For the life of her, she really couldn't. "Azad what did you...What did you do? What the hell is going on? Why are we...?" She couldn't even get the words out - the poor woman sounded, almost comically, confused. Why was he holding her this close...? No - no, that wasn't the point right now. Why were they flying? Were they not just sitting on steps?
"More importantly - put me down. Wait - shit...you can't!...Fuck!" She sounded aggrviated as her tone grew a bit more frantic as she wildly looked back and forth - positively still clinging onto the poor man this whole time. Before, eventually, she glanced sharply upwards, eyes boring into his own in a fearsome glower.
"Holy fuck, Azad, what the hell?!" Yep. She was positively freaking out.
"I'm...gonna fall, damn you! Don't you dare let go!" In her defense - she had just woken up. Her sense of balance wasn't there, and she had yet to fully register that, while in his arms, she was completely, and utterly, safe. Her crying plea of 'help' was almost...cute, really, given how uncharacteristic it was on the female.

In all honesty she'd taken it better than he expected.
Every so often the girl would nestle herself further into his chest as the two flew among the stars, below the lights of the city shined like stars themselves as the dragonair gracefully weaved around clouds under the light of the moon. It was as if the two were caught between worlds, but even with the magnificent sights all around him Azad was only focused on one. Those irises focused solely on the girl as she slept so peacefully against him making sure to pull his jacket over her a little more when she shivered in her sleep; the man only occasionally looking forward to better direct Kreiss as they flew. He wondered if she could feel his heartbeat even in her slumber, his blood pumping faster as they flew miles above the city a dead giveaway to how he felt about the woman in question. Every so often the silver-haired trainer would brush her hair out of her eyes pondering how someone so fierce could be so peaceful when they slept. Were they similar in that regard as well?
They're still flying over Kikyo when she shuffles against him a bit more roughly than she had prior mumbling his name sleepily as she woke (something that didn't help that rapid heartbeat of his in the slightest). In seconds noticing her surroudings she'd be wide awake asking all the important questions not limited to, but including:
Where are we? What did you do? Fuck. What the Fuck? Seriously, what the fuck did you do? Why? What the hell?
and his personal favorite,
Put me down! wait no don't put me down?
Were they all actually questions? No, but for a moment they all sounded like questions making the situation even cuter in his opinion. As the woman shook the man attempting to process the situation Dragonair would cry out annoyed as if to say, 'I will drop both of you if you don't stop moving around.' Azad couldn't help but chuckle not only at the dragon but even more at the woman in his arms attempting to keep at least half a straight face. To all her questions his response was simple,
"Huh, what are you talking about?"
He'd raise an eyebrow as if she was crazy facade lasting a total of 10 seconds before a smile and laugh gave him away. The man was definitely back to normal, but his voice wasn't snarky nor did he have that cocky smirk on his face. It was more natural; a genuine laugh, softer than what she'd seen or heard prior. Not unlike the laughs they shared at the beach not too long ago.
"Oh no. You've figured out my master plan. Fly you all the way up here just drop you mid-flight. Damn you got me. Guess we better turn it in Kreiss!" He couldn't help but snicker a little, even the intelligent dragon managing a few laughter like squeals. Despite the jokes he'd hold Vivian even tighter to his chest making sure his body said he wouldn't let go, all the while Dragonair banked around a cloud.
"Honestly, you can only blame yourself." He'd start casually, "What? Was I supposed to leave my girlfriend passed out on the steps of some shitty temple we both almost died in?" It was more than a little domineering and he had the audacity to act as if he hadn't even caught his slip up, stating it almost as if it was the simplest fact in the world. Or at least he acted as if it wasn't a slip up, though his heartbeat, if she could feel it would definitely give the researcher away.

Honestly, the view was...gorgeous. Likely, any typical, normal person would've been enamored by such a thing. The shine of stars in the blanket of dark raven blue overhead and the glowing city lights underneath - flying on an actual dragon over it all as well? It sounded perfect - romantic even....Unfortunately, Vivian was far from the typical person. Any 'cuteness' the girl displayed upon, embarrassingly enough, nestling into his warm embrace had all but disappeared when she woke up. And thus, all hell broke lose as she immediately began to accuse the man before noting that they were flying and promptly flipping out about that as well.
The dragonair's complaining, annoyed cry was otherwise ignored by the brunette and blue haired female as she glowered at the trainer before her, waiting for him to try and explain whatever the hell 'this' was. Well...until he stared back at her in a sort of confusion that mimicked her own. For a moment, Vivian completely fell for it too. Her eyes widened slightly as she blinked several times. Holy shit - was she still dreaming? "W-what...?" She sounded so...confused as she blinked and looked around, as though trying to come to sense of what she was seeing...Until her violet eyes bore into the males as he began to smile and laugh.
"You bastard - its not funny!" She venomously snapped at him, looking quite embarrassed that she had fallen for such a stupid trick from where she glowered up at him. "I'll push you off of this damned dragon for that!" She snapped once more, but, aside from her positively threatening glare, made no motion to - instead, she just seemed to pout almost. It didn't help that, as smart mouthed as always, the man spoke up once more, further taunting the grouchy woman, whose eye twitched once - and then twice. He was really asking to be pushed off the damn dragonair now, wasn't he? If she didn't somewhat care about his well being...she was positive she would've done it too. 'Lucky bastard,' she let out a heavy huff, cursing those damned feelings that stirred in her chest. Not to mention, as grumpy and irritated as she was, seeing him smile and laugh was, admittedly, much better than hearing him sound so guilt-ridden, even if it came at the price of her temper. Tch. He really was lucky that she cared.
But...not lucky enough, it seemed.
His final comment was enough to managed to make her both highly flustered and pissed off - a dangerous combo. The way he had so casually stated 'girlfriend'...ugh, why was she getting all tongue tied about it?! As if she wanted to be his girlfriend - stupid fucking old man. The more she thought about it - the more she pondered it, the more flustered, and irritated, she became. For a moment, Vivian had been...deathly silent - which made it even worse, as her violent eyes silently bore into his...And then she struck. Initially, she wanted to punch him. Or maybe slap him. Both was good. But, she opted to simply clasp his cheeks in her fingers, harshly tugging and pulling on them as a violent, yet pleased, smirk briefly came onto her lips. Fingers slightly digging into his cheeks as she continued to yank on them, it was weird how the girl could make even the smallest of touches painful.
Eventually, when she believed he was 'punished' enough, she'd let go, letting out a scoff. "Shut up. Or next time, you're getting punched in the throat." She grumbled out, tilting her head away as though to hide the definite scarlet blush that started on her cheeks. "Whatever 'girlfriend' you're talking about must still be at those steps then, dumbass - because she's sure as hell not right here." Her words, despite their sharpness, definitely still lacked her usual harshness, much to her dismay. If anything, she still sounded flustered, if not a bit bewildered.
"...And for your information. I didn't need your help - you could've just left me there. I'm strong." She huffed - or rather complained, likely pouting once more. "...I didn't need your help." She repeated once more with a grumble.

Not the reaction he'd expected from the woman, but then again when did Vivian do anything he expected? She'd continue to freak out as the two soared through the clouds the man in his own way attempting to calm the girl down succeeding if only to get her riled up about a number of other topics. Upon mention of girlfriend he'd keep his eyes ahead for a moment his own ears flaring up the intermittent silence following lasted a little too long, and just as Azad was about to speak up his eyes fell to the girl who was as red as a beet. He figured he was doing the right thing, that is until she'd reached for his cheeks pinching them with her fingers spreading his features wide,
"Heeey what ar' ou doiinggg, uit it!"
He'd manage to keep still making sure to keep the woman steady as she delivered 'punishment' so to speak. Even so he wouldn't take back his words. When finally the woman got tired of stretching his face she'd halfway turtle back grumbling quietly now no doubt a few curses and swears he couldn't make out over the windiness of the ride. As dragonair banked once again the man's hair would fly freely in the wind his smile even after her attack only slightly faltering in favor of a rather challenging perhaps even lightly pouty expression.
"Then you're gonna have to punch me in the throat because I'm serious."
He'd grumble loudly enough for the woman to hear. The city lights below beginning to fade as they had long passed over the center of Kikyo and now seemed to fly over the outskirts of the city, farmlands shaded in darkness fewer lights appearing down below now, the suburbs of the city and the homes of farmers serving as the spotlight to this new backdrop.
He'd listen carefully as she too continued to pout the man noting the redness on her cheeks hadn't yet faded. "Well you're partially right." Emerald would clash with Violet now a bit more seriously now deciding to respond. "My GIRLFRIEND" emphasized. "Definitely didn't need my help. She's just as independent, as she is strong. It's....it's one of the things that I like the most about her." He'd pause, "But even if she doesn't 'need' my help I'm still going to be there for her. Not because I have to, but because I want to. I want to know more about her life, I want to get stronger with her, I want to watch her succeed, and I want to see that stupid smile of hers that's so honest she can barely hide it.
He'd brushing a strand of hair out of her eyes,
"So it's not a question of her strength. She's the strongest person I've met in this entirety of this region. Even if she knows how to get on my very last nerve. And honestly, I wouldn't have it any other way."

Believing that she had made her point clear, eventually, the brunette ceased her incessant, 'cruel' tugging on Azad's cheeks. And, of course, he accepted the whole thing - probably more focused on making sure she didn't fall off the dragonair...which was, honestly, the last thing on Vivian's mind. Okay, okay, perhaps she was a bit reckless? Still, she didn't fall back as she glowered at him continuously...which, of course, the man challenged in his own, annoying as hell way.
Honestly, she was beginning to find his smile more annoying than that idiotic, cocky smirk of his. While his smirk made her want to grab his face and let it meet her fist or just smothering his stupid face into a pillow...His smile made her want to do the former...except, not with her fist - and that was yet another thing! Just one twitch of the corner of his lips upwards, and it'd make her stomach do flips. It made her want to smile - and someone like her...well, she wasn't supposed to smile, it ruined the 'thing' she had going on. His dumb smile was honest, and even someone like her could see the emotion running through it. His stupid smile was also...cute. Sometimes, even...attractive? Like, right now. With the wind stirring about his silvery hair that seemed to match the night sky - it was, honestly, a bit hard to look away...Oh, for the love of arceus, she sounded like one of those love-sick, annoying, stupid movie girls.
Vivian had to resist the urge to roll her eyes, even at her own thoughts.
She stared up at him in that same glower of hers as he began to speak - her first mistake. A vibrant emerald gaze met her own, oddly serious - meaning she couldn't look away even if she had tried - her second mistake. As much as she hated to admit...damn he had a way with words - a way that could fruitlessly make it past her brutish personality and steel walls each and every time, even if she seldom acted on it. And, honestly, she wasn't sure if that was a good thing. It intimidated her - it made her experience emotions he never wanted to experience...And yet, at the same time, it...excited her. It made her happy, curious, whole bunch of other feelings.
He'd call her strong - really strong, reminiscent of her words about him back on their 'date-not-date', and once again, that stupid thing in her chest tightened. Especially when he spoke about him wanting to be there for her - wanting to see her get stronger, to succeed, to smile...The shock was as clear as daylight on her face. She couldn't remember...well, anyone ever saying such things for her. Every back at home was, more or less, as selfish as she was and her mother was out of the question...Since when did anyone want these things for her? It was an odd feeling, one she wasn't sure how to feel about...Until she felt it. The corners of her lips beginning to twitch upwards, pulling into a small smile. 'Fucking stop it. Cut it out, don't you dare - fuck, fuck,' she tried to argue with herself, but, it was too late. Even if it was small, she was smiling. Still definitely trying to glower at him, but, also smiling.
God, she hated him so much.
Fingers whisked over her cheeks, delicately brushing away a strand of her hair, likely from how the wild breeze stirred her hair about. It was a habit of hers to tense, even at his slightest touch. But, she didn't flinch away - that was an improvement, at least.
"Tch." She finally spoke after several minutes of silence. "I'm still struggling to decide whether to punch the daylights outta you or not." She warned the man with a sigh, unable to meet his gaze as she looked to the side, letting out a slight, aggravated huff. "You really annoy me, you know?" 'You make me feel so many different things, and I hate you for it.'
However, despite her negative tone, it was soft, reflective. And soon enough, she spoke up once more, "3 questions. You have 3 questions. You can ask me any 3 questions, and I'll answer them." Was this her, admittedly poor, attempt to show that she had heard and listened to him? That she was maybe willing to drop her 'tough' persona and open up to him a little? Who knew. She still refused to look at him, likely too embarrassed, but, didn't step down on her offer, aside from one, single 'threat,
"Don't make me regret this, idiot."
She had no idea where she was going - and yet, her lack of questioning the man about it likely showed that she did trust him, at least a little. Either way, she figured they had enough time to at least...well, talk a bit more.

After his own initial wall he was surprised to see how much clearer his words came out when talking about his own feelings. Yes, it still felt stupid making himself so vulnerable and the sappiness of it wasn't ideal, but for her he was willing, she was the only person he'd be willing to do this for, and while every so often he could feel his mind groan at something he'd say his heart felt like it was endlessly walking on air no thanks to dragonair.
"See, that smile right there." He'd comment on her change in expression eyes still focused on his own the corners in her mouth turned upward no matter how much she tried to hide it. The man was beginning to gain a bit of a sadistic streak watching the girl tense from his words. Seeing Vivian flustered was honestly too cute, and making her flustered wasn't too hard for the silver-haired trainer, he just had to be honest. And if she was going to end up hitting him all the time, this seemed like decent revenge, even if he was a little flustered himself.
"Well if you do decide to punch me, how about you wait until we land at the very least, I do not how much more chaos Kreiss can take." He'd respond before adjusting himself slightly the cool evening winds causing more than a few goosebumps to rise. The silence that followed this time wasn't exactly relaxed, but it wasn't uncomfortable either as the woman dealt with her own thoughts all the while Azad would look up once again helping Kreiss navigate the sky. He could begin to see the river tat trailed beside and into Union Cave in the distance, against the banks on the upper end of the river he could see the Ruins of Alph, a place he'd like to take her sometime in the future.
His own thoughts are interrupted when the blue-haired brunette speaks again her proposal interesting. "Alright, and to be fair I'll match your three with my own. You can ask me anything, and I'll try my best."
It wouldn't take him long to come up with his first question, "Why are you so obsessed with strength, What prompted you to become so strong, not only in battle, but as a person?" He'd give the woman a short explanation behind the question. In truth he wanted to know everything about the girl he'd fallen for and if that wasn't natural than he didn't know what natural was.
