The last few weeks had been very productive and filled with unexpected surprises. Spade met a lot of new people and participated in things he never thought he would. Ever since he began his Pokemon journey the time seemed to zoom straight by. He assumed it was because there was so much to do and so much going on that sometimes he forgot to pay attention to every present moment and take a breath to take it all in. Which is why he was revisiting Route 45... [break][break]
Route 45, a Route next to Fusube City was the location that he visited previously to get a look at the entrance to Victory Road. It was also a great location to find Fire-Type Pokemon, which was perfect for his current situation. Spade wanted to train his Froakie, and what better way than to pit it against Pokemon that were a type weakness. [break][break]
"Thank God I ate already... I feel like today is going to be a long day." He said to himself as he walked along the waters edge. That water that followed the path to the cave's entrance was also something he appreciated about this location. He couldn't wait to finally enter that cave and take on the challenges and pokemon that laid in wait for whoever was next. Spade was going to be the Champion, and after he successfully defended his title he will be dubbed the ChampChamp. Laughing about that idea, he realized he got too caught up in his thoughts and wandered a bit too far ahead. This is what he meant when he said that he didn't take the opportunity to smell the roses. Spade grabbed the PokeBall that housed his Froakie and released the frog onto the road below him. "If you want, you can take a dip in the water... Just make sure to come back the minute something decides it wants to fight us." He told the Pokemon. However, as Spade continued to walk forward, the Froakie decided to trail him instead of jumping into the water. The two of them kept on the path until something or someone was bumped into...

Here he was again route 45 trailing down the endless path at his side was no other than his first partner Aros, with Fai napping atop the massive steel pokemon. While again implied he'd returned from the route recently in reality the man had begun a training exercise on the route filled primarily with fire pokemon and as such had been camping out in the wilderness. Day one had been surprisingly fruitful in terms of training Nero and Fai both getting their fair share of fights in the former learning how to better deal with fire pokemon since it was currently a glaring weakness for his team barring Sen and Kreiss.
For the stint of this training exercise the researcher had even put his studies on hold completing the next two papers he'd have to turn in, in advance leaving the professors happy and giving the pokemon his full undivided attention. The trainer had just finished bathing in the river, (something he'd finally gotten comfortable with since beginning his journey) and was on the way to beginning today's work when a narrow eyed trainer happened to cross his path a froakie at his side.
Despite his disdain for random trainers challenging him to battles as they always did it at the most inopportune times the man would find the shoe on the other foot today looking for a challenge himself, that said Azad had more decency than forcing a battle on the unsuspecting trainer and so he'd at least give the man a way out and would respect a decline.
Sliding a hand through his hair the silver haired trainer would move onto the path from the bank simply nodding to the man his two pokemon behind him, "Good morni-" Before the man could even get out a greeting the bushes on the far side of the path would rustle loudly immediately pulling the emerald eyed trainer's attention to the wilderness. By the sound of it Azad guessed two pokemon would be making their appearance soon.
"You up for a quick challenge trainer?" Eyes would flit to the black-haired man a smirk plastered across his face.

Honestly the enemies that had appeared before the two trainers weren't too threatening, at least they weren't compared to the pokemon Azad had on hand. They were younger pokemon, but they seemed all to ready for battle. While Initially the trainer had been interested in taking on the monkey, recognizing the creature as a chimchar the sharp eyed newcomer seemed focused on the creature, and so Azad would instead focusing on the dog pokemon who was preparing itself for battle. "I'll take the one on the left." Eyes would flit from the man to his newest opponent the dog pokemon the fire type spitting an ember on the ground showcasing exactly how ready for battle the growlithe was.
If he'd met the growlithe a few weeks back the trainer would have no doubt opted to catch the fire type, but he was here strictly to train his team and while he had no qualms about adding another pokemon he was short on pokeballs and didn't feel like the growlithe was ready to commit to the training program Azad found himself and his team in. At the very least however the man could give the pokemon a battle and so without further ado the trainer pulled the pokeball containing his most trusted partner. "Aros, let's wrap this up quickly. It'll serve as a good test of the new counters to fire pokemon we've honed.
The Golem pokemon would sound off at the trainer's command it's heavy mettallic voice serving as an affirmative. The trainer allowed the fire type to take the first move launching a series of short flames at the steel type only for Azad to give his command. "Now, Psychic." The pokemon wasted no time expecting the command it's entire body gaining a blue aura as the embers flew towards the psychic pokemon. In seconds the embers would stop mid flight each flame now sharing that same aura before flying upwards the redirected attack crashing into the earthy stone completely snuffed.
With his technique working albeit on a pokemon far weaker than the Metang Azad would chose to wrap up his side of the albeit short battle having gained the info he needed. "Take it down in one shot, Zen Headbutt."
In seconds the steel type's body would fold in on itself becoming tighter before slamming into the fire type pokemon the psychic energies surrounding the steel type refusing to fade as it completed its technique. The growlithe didn't stand a chance quickly falling unconscious as the attack connected. With his battle finishing rather quickly he'd then turn to watch his new companion fight his own battle.

Despite Spade's assumption that he would be alone on the route, a trainer appeared and introduced himself asking Spade for a challenge. However, they didn't have much time for conversation as they were instead interrupted by an arrival of two fire type Pokemon. One of them caught his eye, and it was the Chimchar that stood there with a devious look on it's face. "No problem, I'll take this one." He said, looking at the Chimchar. [break][break]
Spade watched as the foreign trainer released a Metang that looked extremely strong. "Man, you yourself a great Pokemon there." Of course he doubted the trainer needed Spade's approval, but he rarely kept what he thought to himself so he blurted that out immediately upon seeing the steel type Pokemon. It was the first of it's kind that Spade had witnessed thus far on his travels. He heard that it also had Psychic powers, what an interesting Pokemon to come across. Despite the confidence in himself, he knew he couldn't compete with this man just yet.[break][break]
Spade's digits fumbled about around his belt as his eyes were still fixated on the Metang and the battle it was participating in. It made short work of the opposing Growlithe, so quick in fact Spade had yet to even begin his own battle. [break][break]
A PokeBall was finally drawn and out came Froakie, the Water Type frog. "Hey bro, we're here to capture that monkey. Do your best, but don't kill the poor thing. Go and use Water Pulse" He ordered his pal, his eyes finally back on the target at hand. Despite Spade's want for a quick battle, the monkey didn't seem like it would sit in place and be hit by Froakie's water pulse. Instead it dodged the attack and released an ember that Froakie too, dodged. [break][break]
"Froakie, close the distance and use smack down." He told him. Froakie soon after dodging the flames hopped towards the Chimchar at an impressive speed, reaching the Pokemon quite quickly and utilizing the move smack down to hit the poor monkey into the ground. The move did enough damage to stun the Chimchar, so Froakie knew what came next. He was a Pokemon that moved well on instinct, so before Spade even had a chance to say water pulse the Pokemon had already begun gathering the water in it's maw. "Water Pulse!" As if they were completely in sync, the water pulse went off as soon as Spade shouted the move, catching the Chimchar directly. [break][break]
"Okay Froakie, come back here now!" He told the frog as Spade fumbled about for a PokeBall. Throwing the ball at the Chimchar, a red light enveloped the PokeBall and encapsulated the fire type inside. He waited intently to see if the capture was a success or not.

"I wouldn't say yours is too bad either stranger. the silver haired trainer returning the compliment as he watched the trainer and his froakie take down the chimchar. While they had an obvious type advantage the battle was still entertaining and the two showed some better than decent unity as they fought, though it was apparent the two were still newer to the game, or at least newer than the researcher was himself.
A dull growl would grab the trainer's attention as Aros seemed a bit more fierce than usual. This training trip had been intense and while they'd both grown significantly over the past couple of days something odd had been happening with the steel type pokemon. A hand would graze the back of the scarlet eyed pokemon as it watched the battle between froakie and chimchar end.
"You alright buddy?" Another low growl signalling a need for another fight, another battle. There was no way he'd send the steel type out against this fledgling trainer, not while the metang was in this state at least. Thankfully a solution to the problem appeared quite quickly honestly. A slugma would show itself the fire type preparing itself for battle.
"Alright, let's take it down quick, get some of this extra energy out of you, yeah?" The metang would give an affirmative all the while the fire type would take the first move launching a full flame burst. "Use Psyc-" The trainer couldn't even get a full order off as the steel type dashed forward tanking the explosive fire type attack. "Aros!"
Shocked by the pokemon's recklessness the trainer would move forward from his position watching the flames and smoke consume his trusted golem. Slugma seemed rather satisfied with the direct hit cocky with what it thought was a win, but no one expected what came next.
When the smoke cleared the metang had begun to glow silver Azad's eyes widening the pokemon's recklessness and bountiful energy making sense now. "It's time." A grin grew on the trainer's face knowing his partner had finally reached its goal and together the two would move further.
Metang had evolved
Now a massive steel pokemon stood before them a massive X on the pokemon's face. "Let's wrap this up quick old friend, Hammer Arm!" At speeds faster than he'd ever seen the metang go the steel type was on top of the slugma almost instantly slamming one of it's massive hammer like arms down on the partial rock type knocking it out immediately creating a small crater with the pokemon in it.
Eyes marveled at the Metagross' power the trainer ran up to the pokemon himself uncharacteristically hugging the massive beast. "Now look what you've gone and done, old friend." It was by no stretch of the imagination to see a tear form in the trainer's eyes. Something the two had fought so hard for, for so long finally accomplished it was a beautiful thing and one that no amount of pride would stop the silver haired researcher from celebrating.

The Pokemon that Spade aimed for had been captured, and he walked over and collected the PokeBall and placed it onto his belt. Froakie was extremely excited, knowing he did a great job. Spade gave the frog a nice pat on the head and in response the Pokemon climbed onto Spade's body and rested itself on his head. "Well this is a first..." He said, signifying that the Froakie had gotten much comfortable with his trainer. [break][break]
Now that his action for the day had finish, he focused his eyes on the trainer beside him. The man looked much older than Spade, and also seemed to be battling for a bit longer than him as well. His Metang was quite evident of that. It was a beautiful Pokemon, and Spade couldn't help but observe him and his Pokemon in conjunction while they battled. [break][break]
Though, he noticed the Steel-Type to go off on it's own when it's eyes fixated on a nearby Slugma. That was odd, for a trainer like him to lose control of his Pokemon, even for a split second, seemed a bit awkward to the onlooker. But it was all explained seconds after by the marvelous transformation that the Pokemon underwent. Metang had evolved, into what however, Spade was unsure. He drew his PokeDex from his bag and learned that the newly formed Metang had transitioned to a Metagross, a Pseudo-Legendary as he was referred to in the PokeDex. The Pokemon sure looked Legendary from the space that Spade was looking from. [break][break]
"Incredible... I need to be better." He whispered to himself. Once Azad collected himself he turned to the onlooking trainer, asking him for a battle. Spade merely let out a laugh. "Now what kind of trainer would I be to let my Pokemon get completely destroyed by someone whose clearly farther along than I am. They would learn no lessons in a battle such as this. However, I do thank you, as my pal here has clearly had a fire lit underneath him from seeing what just happened." He said, referring to the Froakie that was leaning so far over Spade's head with eyes lit up that it almost fell off before catching himself. "Is he your favorite?" He asked, clearly referring to the Metagross.

| DO YOU REMEMBER? LOOK AT ME AND ALL THE THINGS WE SAID WE'D BE. WE BEAT THE HOUNDS, WE PUSHED THE ODDS. WE'D TAKE IT ALL - WE HAD THE CAUSE. WITH YEARS TO BURN AND YEARS TO TRASH, LIVIN' LIFE BASED ON FLASH. BUT SOMEHOW REACHING FOR THE STARS, I THINK WE WENT A BIT TOO FAR.
The final pokemon to appear over the course of this trip was none other than a Quilava, a pokemon the trainer had run into twice prior over the course of his battles in the mountains and once prior to his journey during the fall of the tower. Even now the fire type haunted the dark-skinned trainer the damage it cause over the course was wild and while Azad didn't directly blame the pokemon for it's actions there was a piece of him that held disdain for the fire type as inane as those feelings where. Slowly after having been presented more of the fire type he'd become more akin and that disdain lessened as he already knew his feelings were wrong, but further exposure to the pokemon never hurt.
That said Azad was still here to train and so He'd call out a worthwhile opponent, Metagross was more than ready to fight, but the pokemon after such a stressful evolution needed rest, and perhaps simply to show off the rest of his team to the onlooker Azad would call out another pokemon, one far less photogenic than the steel behemoth but was still powerful in his own right. Appearing from concentrated almost bleeding light was a Kabuto it's eyes focused on the Quilava ready for battle which in actuality wasn't that long. While the quilava had a decent offense Kabuto with it's double resistance to fire was able to shove off the majority of the fire pokemon's attacks always countering with a Mudshot or aqua Jet.
The variations of water and earth would fly the rock type continuously slamming into the fire type at every opportunity moving faster than the fire type could expect or predict from the typically scuttling stingray pokemon. With the last of its energy volcanic pokemon would attempt to launch a super powered flame wheel at its enemy only for the attack to be countered with a final mud shot fully subduing the enemy after minutes of battle. When the Quilava finally drops the trainer would return to his conversation with the trainer.
"I don't like calling favorites." He was avoiding the question, even though in his heart the man knew his answer was a resounding 'yes'. "Each of my allies has a place on my team their talents are all necessary for us to work as a cohesive unit....but Aro- Metagross was my first ally, and friend. So I suppose he does hold a special place in my heart. How about you stranger? do you have any favorites you care to share?"
He'd think back on the other half, of the narrowed eyed trainer's response, "A wise move, then we'll have to postpone our fight perhaps when that antsy partner of yours is ready."
