[googlefont=Roboto Condensed] He thought it'd be easy, but with how strong the Pokemon were in the wild for his Venipede, even the type advantage did not save him. Kyle found himself whistling in the middle of the route, trying to attract the attention of any Pokemon within the vicinity for his Venipede to actually try to fight. The small, red Bug-type remained by his feet, seemingly unfazed by the fact that his trainer was basically pitting him against wild Pokemon without his consent. They have been here for a while now, though as far as things went, they still haven't made any significant progress. With how difficult it was to train a weak Pokemon from the ground up, it was tempting to simply give up on the task and move on. That was, however, something that Kyle couldn't do if he would take into account the balance of his team. Electrike and Rhyhorn were there for the longest time, which meant that he simply needed to build around them, though the addition of two Poochyena, which he intended to keep fondly, did nothing to round up the composition. If anything, they simply accented the glaring defensive weakness of his Rhyhorn to Fighting-type. That was where his Venipede comes in. Boasting an effective resistance against Grass-type for his Rhyhorn, Fairy-type for both of his Poochyena, and the three Pokemon's shared weakness to Fighting, he supposed it was the much needed defensive pivot for his team. It felt great in theory to have acquired the Pokemon, despite not actually fussing about any competitive balance in his team before, though in practice, it was pretty much a chore to help it catch up to the others. This place may not have had the beautiful scenic views that the ranger had grown accustomed to in his travels, but it would have to do. It wasn't as if he specifically came here to take in sights or anything. Still it was always nice to have something nice to look at between battles against whatever wild pokemon called the area home. Though his team seemed as if they could care less. Tiny was walking at his trainer's side, ears as alert as ever as he kept his eyes open for potential threats. Meanwhile Curry rested lazily upon the poisonous pokemon's back, his chest rising and falling with his soft snores.
It was obvious that Tiny was irritated at having to carry the monkey around, but he didn't resist the orders of his trainer. In fact he was aware that this was all a part of his training. Only once the nidorino had gained full control and become perfectly patient would he be granted the pleasure of his full evolution. So he would tolerate the lazy monkey on his back, choosing to instead focus on his duty as a scout for his owner.
Frederick watched the pair with an amused smile, feeling both proud and entertained by the display. It was amazing to think that not too long ago Tiny was a fiery little nidoran that Fred had to keep a close eye on at all times. It was relaxing to be able to have enough faith in his pokemon to let them roam free without supervision. The large eared pokemon suddenly stopped in his tracks, head turning to look off into the distance. It was obvious from the lack of a growl that Tiny wasn't hearing a pokemon, but rather the familiar steps of a human. Another trainer perhaps? "Lead on Tiny. Let's see who it is this time."
It wasn't long before Frederick would be lead to Kyle and his Venipede. The ranger took a moment to look the pair over before raising a hand and offering a proper greeting. "You have the looks of a trainer about you, friend. How are you doing?" The young man may have recognized this voice, though it was likely difficult to place given the chaotic nature of that night. Whatever the case Frederick would great Kyle with a calm smile, his eyes slowly scanning the surrounding area for potential pokemon their conversation may have attracted.

[googlefont=Roboto Condensed] Kyle would raise a brow as he noticed a man approaching. A quick assessment made it seem like he was a decent person judging from appearance, though he knew that wasn't how it should work. "Oh. Hey." He raised his hand in response to the greeting, subconsciously following the lead of the older male. He wasn't expecting company on his trip to train his Venipede, but looking at the Pokemon he came with, Kyle came into conclusion that he must have been here for the same purpose. Both of the Pokemon with him, a Nidorino and a Monferno, both shared a type advantage against the Grass-types he has been encountering in this route. Although he had preferred working alone instead of getting one other person involved with the pain of raising his Venipede to a better state, it did have its perks. "Ah, yeah. I'm trying to train this guy over here." He'd peer over the Bug-type by his feet, though there probably was no point on emphasizing its presence when it was the only one who fit the bill. "I'm currently running into some problems though. You're a trainer too, right?" It was painfully obvious and shouldn't have warrant a question in itself, if he was to be honest. He wasn't sure how it happened, but Venipede still cannot win against any other wild Pokemon in a one-on-one battle despite the type advantage. At this point, Kyle doesn't even know if the Venipede was simply too weak at the moment or if it had just been too stubborn to even make an effort. Seeing the effect of its attacks, however, made Kyle more inclined to believe the former. "Can you help me get this thing stronger?"Both of the Pokemon with the guy seemed to be much more capable than his Pokemon anyways, and so there shouldn't be too much trouble if he does approve of it. The Pokemon he had been using to train with the Bug-type have exhausted themselves more than the Pokemon he has been trying to train, and so his resources have been scarce. Asking a complete stranger for a favor wasn't the most reliable way to make up for it, but it was worth a shot. "Ah, yeah. Let me show you how good this guy's offense is."Kyle searched for any Pokemon that seemed small enough to not be a threat, spotting a Budew and an Oddish sitting closely together, probably friends or something. They weren't big and scary, quite the opposite in fact, which would make his point more valid. "Go attack one of them. Just one. Don't aggro the other." If he was certain that the man would back him up, he'd have ordered it to attack both, but since there had been no certainties concerning the subject, he'd rather not at the moment. Instructions were firm and set for the Venipede, and yet, it did not seem to grasp the concept of control just yet. Opening its mouth, it sprayed and prayed multiple purple darts on both of the resting Grass-types. Poison Sting wasn't a particularly strong attack, but it should still have done a number on them. Still, it seemingly did less than what was necessary for it to be considered as good damage than chipping away at their health bars and only annoyed both the Oddish and the Budew at best, the two shrugging off the pain from the attack and going straight for the Venipede. "Well, shit."At least his Venipede was still spraying its Poison Sting at them, slowing their advances by just a bit. It probably won't be enough to finish one of them, since his Pokemon did not seem to know the concept of concentrating his attacks at just one target, but it should be easy pickings for anyone else. He started considering his options, running his hand on the holster containing his Pokeballs at his belt. Both of the Poochyenas were out of commission as of right now, while his Rhyhorn wouldn't definitely fare well against Grass-types. The option of getting his Electrike out was there, but would he rather deal with him than hope that the guy beside him has a heart to deal with both of the wild Pokemon? MADE BY NOVA

Frederick's eyes dropped to the venipede beside Kyle, brows raising slightly as he examined it. This pokemon was unfamiliar to him, but it was obviously some form of bug type. Considering the grass types that seemed to frequent the area it made sense to come here. When Kyle admitted he was running into some problems the ranger's eyes would shift back to him, yellow eyes locking on to other trainer's. "Problems?" The dark skinned man and his pokemon would slowly move closer, Tiny's eyes cautiously searching the surroundings while Curry seemed content to enjoy some rest. Fred chuckled softly at the young man's blunt request, the sudden question managing to catch him by surprise. Perhaps it was safe to assume that this one was a little new to the whole pokemon training thing. If that was the case then he might as well help the guy out and help him get off the right foot. "I see. Yes I think I should be able to help with that." Tiny's ears stiffened at the sound of a nearby pair of pokemon, his eyes locking on to the two grass types as they entered the vicinity. It seemed like they were content to mind their own business, at least until the venipede unleashed it's attack on the two of them. It was a shame how the poisonous bug seemed unable to properly follow through with the trainer's orders. As Frederick looked at the two grass types he suspected that Curry would be able to handle himself in this situation. "I can help you. But I expect your pokemon to pull it's own weight." He glanced over to Curry and snapped his fingers, causing the lazy ape to suddenly sit up from his relaxed position. He quickly looked around the area, his attention soon falling on the two irritated grass pokemon. "Training starts now. Flamethrower."The ape grinned, his previous look of exhaustion immediately vanishing to be over taken with excitement for the upcoming battle. The monferno sprung off Tiny's back, moving nimbly to though the air to place himself between the venipede and the wild pokemon. Before they had a response the monferno released a flamethrower, opening his mouth wide to produce a broad stream of flames. The two pokemon were near enough to each other that the attack would hit both of them, though it lacked the punch it would have had if he focused on a single target. "The budew is weakened." Frederick turned to look at Alex, his expression and tone just as relaxed as they were before the battle started to unfold. "Finish it off while Curry here takes care of the oddish."The oddish locked eyes onto the monferno, eyes narrowing as it felt the foliage on top of it's head burning away. If only had the arms to run up and punch that dumb monkey in the face. Instead she would start to glow a faint green, causing roots to form on the ground beneath the flame tailed pokemon and wrap around it's legs. The roots would immediately mega drain, sucking the life from one pokemon and pulling it into the other. "You know what to do. Flamethrower."Despite the painful sensation of having the nutrients sucked out of his body, the monferno would maintain it's smile. His mouth would open wide as he looked down at himself, unleashing another flamethrower into the ground to burn away the roots surround his legs. Once they were charred enough to pull his legs free he would turn his head toward the oddish, the flames still continually spewing out of his mouth. In one smooth movement the burning monkey managed to free himself and deal the finishing blow to the small weed pokemon. The ranger nodded in approval toward his pokemon. "Good work, but stay on your guard. We're not through training yet." The monferno nodded quickly as he took his stance, one foot sliding back as he raised his hands up in front of him. His fingers were flexed as if ready to grapple rather than clenching into fists as his eyes moved to the budew. He had to be ready in case the Venipede wasn't up for the challenge. Part of him hoped he wasn't just so he could get another round in before more opponents showed up. lvl 22 Monferno (Static)Flamethrower | Taunt | Fury Swipes | Mach PunchCurry used Flamethrower on Oddish and Budew! [googlefont=Roboto Condensed] "Yeah, that's what I was hoping for as well," he'd nonchalantly chime in. Training the Venipede was pretty much equivalent to taming his Electrike outside of tiring itself out. For the most part, the idea he had been following for a while was weakening the opposing Pokemon with another one of his own before he'd let his Venipede swoop in and fight a weakened opponent. That method was working as far as he knows, but it takes a lot of time to even see significant results from the Bug-type, not to mention putting a strain on his innocent Poochyena as they were usually the ones who carry out majority of the grunt work. He'd rather not burden the stranger, but desperate times call for desperate measures. It had been a while since he last a competent Fire-type attack. The scattered flames were enough to hurt the Budew more than what his Venipede could accomplish on its own, doing a number on not only the Budew, but also to the Oddish. The injured Budew was left for the Venipede, with his Monferno going straight for the Oddish right after his last attack. "Oh, right," was the automatic response after Frederick had given him the cue. "It's already going after you. Go for Bug Bite."While the Flamethrower had already weakened it, their target was still up and ready to fight. Kyle could basically feel its rage from afar, with its expression seething with anger from ruining its day. He supposed that it was their fault from mercilessly assaulting them from their peace, but it was the necessary evil so that his Pokemon could rise to success. The Budew, too, had opted to use Mega Drain on the Venipede to try and regain back the health it lost from sustaining damage from the previous Flamethrower. His Pokemon simply trudged along the ground as it made its way to the Grass-type, shrugging off the attack before leaping forward, latching onto the Budew before digging its incisors at its leafy flesh. The small Bud Pokemon would then cry in pain before falling under the weight of the Bug-type, finally falling unconscious from not only the Monferno's flames, but also from his Venipede's finishing blow. Kyle would walk over to his Venipede, who still was attached to the Budew, and tried to pry it away from the knocked out Pokemon, being careful not to touch any of its parts that he deemed poisonous, as he turned to Frederick. "I should thank you for helping me with this." He wasn't sure if the stranger actually agreed to help train his Venipede or if he had accidentally forced him to do so by taking action even before he could respond properly. "I'm Kyle. I guess I owe you for this one."With one last tug, he finally managed to take it off the wildlife. He checked for any serious injury on the Budew from his Venipede's actions, though, thankfully, Kyle had not found any signs of his Pokemon actually trying to eat it. He already fed it before leaving anyways, and so it should have been expected to have done it regardless. Still, Kyle was ashamed to admit that he still does not know much about his Venipede's personality outside of being a major pain. Defeated Budew! MADE BY NOVA

Golden eyes watched silently as the trainer directed the venipede to attack the weakened budew, his lips curled into an amused smile. It was good to see that the pokemon was willing to put it's full effort in despite the severe gap in power between the two pokemon. And it seemed to be going well for it, as it was able to finish the fight even with the other pokemon still fighting back. Hopefully the rest of these battles would go just as smoothly. Frederick simply nodded as the young man expressed his gratitude, his gaze turning back to the fellow human. "You're welcome. Though in the future I suggest finding a spot pokemon more suitable to fight against. These may be grass pokemon, but this deep in you're bound to find pokemon that are significantly stronger than your friend here." He gestured toward the Venipede who just moments ago was furiously biting away at the unconscious budew. Not only was it lacking in experience, it seemed like it was still in need of a great deal more training as well. "Frederick Ferdinand. The pleasure is mine."Before the conversation could get much further Tiny would let out a low growl, signalling that a pokemon was approaching. "Stay on guard. There's more headed our way." Not long after the warning a head would emerge from the treeline, a tropious with narrowed eyes that carefully examined the trainers and their pokemon. The large flying pokemon let out a roar as he fully emerged from the trees, his fury clear enough that even the humans could discern it. "Looks like we've disturbed the would be protector of this place. Leave this one to me."Curry stood ready for battle, the sight of the much larger foe getting him even more excited than before. This should be much more interesting than that oddish before. "Use flamethrower and make an approach." The monferno charged forward, opening his mouth to release a flamethrower that aimed to engluf the majority of the long necked pokemon's body. The flames took, burning the creature and causing it to let out a cry of pain. As this happened a much smaller pokemon would make itself known, the small Cherubi bouncing off of the tropius's back as the flames scorched it's body. Frederick glanced at the small cherry pokemon for a moment before focusing back on the battle at hand. "You can finish that one."As the monferno grew closer the severely burned pokemon it would start to flap it's massive leafy wings, lifting it up off the ground and moving forward to meet it. But rather than stopping before it to strike would let itself fall, performing a body slam directly onto it's opponent. Curry grunted as he was crushed under the pokemon's weight, effectively pinned underneath it's much larger form. Despite this Frederick seemed to be perfectly calm, still maintaining his calm smile. "Flamethrower. Give it all you've got."There was silence at first, as if the pokemon had been totally defeated by the crushing attack. But a moment later the flying grass type would be crying in pain once more, the force of the flame under it's belly causing it to topple over to the side. Between the existing burns and the direct hit of the attack it was clearly down for the count. Frederick beckoned his injured pokemon over and kneeled down, grabbing a potion from his satchel. He gave the monferno a quick spray down to help with the wounds, his other hand moving to give him a soft pat on the head. "Very good my friend. [googlefont=Roboto Condensed] "Oh, that..."He knew of that fact that Frederick pointed out to him. Somewhere by the outskirts of town, or even by the main path would've been the best as only the adventurous, inexperienced wild Pokemon tend to travel near paths that trainers frequent. Regardless, the choice to come to this place was by choice. He had the Pokemon to protect him and his Venipede should push comes to shove after all, and besides, Venipede wasn't the only one he has in his possession that could deal with the Grass-types. "...Yeah, I'll keep that in mind."
Kyle came here thinking that having his Venipede fight stronger opponents, albeit being weakened by his other Pokemon first, would get the Bug-type to grow faster. While that was how it worked in most video games that he has played, it certainly was not showing up based on the results in practice. He'd point out any countermeasures he had prepared for the worst, but decided against it should that lead to an argument. Frederick already seemed like a decent person, and he'd rather not have any discord with him at any point. His Venipede wasn't as receptive as his other Pokemon, he observed, as it didn't even seem to notice the Tropius closing in on them like the Nidorino. The wild Pokemon was big and large, although Kyle was certain that his Electrike could handle it. His hand instinctively reached out for his Electrike's Pokeball before stopping with Frederick's statement. Although small, it still packed quite a punch with its super effective moves against it. Then again, he wasn't sure if bringing it out was necessary if Frederick said he could handle it. He eased himself from tensing, somewhat calmed by the prowess that the Monferno was showing as it fought the Tropius. Despite how much attention the larger Pokemon brought to itself, Kyle forced himself to focus on the task at hand, which was to get his Venipede to a much more usable level. For that to happen though, they still needed to dispatch the Cherubi that had bounced off the Flying-type. At least the whole commotion had split it up from the Tropius, allowing him to have an easy time trying to get his Venipede to knock it out without any more intervention. "You heard what he said." Kyle wasn't sure if his Bug-types expression portrayed itself unimpressed and disinterested, or if it simply has that kind of face and it can't be helped. Nudging it closer to the injured Cherubi, who still was limping both from the burns it suffered as well as the fall, the Venipede would finally move forward towards the injured Grass-type. "Poison Sting."The simple command had brought the Centipede Pokemon to release a spray of purple needles from its mouth, pelting the hurt Grass-type with what harmless attacks it could muster against it. The Monferno already did a number on it though, and with its help, even the Cherubi found it difficult to stand up and prepare for its counterattack. Trying to stand up on its feet, its cheeks ballooned up as it spat seeds on the Bug-type. While it was harmless at first, the seeds were quick to grow and took no more than a moment to sprout its roots around the Venipede, gradually sapping its energy and transferring them to the Cherubi. The wild Pokemon, however, needed more energy to sustain itself than what was being drained from Kyle's Venipede, and as such, could not recover as quickly as it hoped for. "Finish it off. Bug Bite."With the Grass-type staggering on its feet, Kyle's Pokemon easily managed to latch on to the Cherubi. It cried, most probably from panic, as the insect's legs crawled over its lush body. The volume of its cry only increased when it sunk its mouth on it, the Cherubi finally falling onto its face to the ground. At least the Venipede did not continue latching onto its target this time like it did to the Budew. "That was, uh, surprising," he'd comment, turning just in time to see the Monferno defeating the Tropius. "I don't think it's a good idea to stay then. Protectors get their own lackeys or something to sic at us, right?" That's how it works on some games, and even if he discounted himself referencing them, it was still alright to assume that some of the wild life had some kind of ranking system regardless of how pointless that was. Still, he wasn't serious about all of it. Defeated Cherubi! MADE BY NOVA

You're free to do whatever you like, friend. But you can't blame me for the consequences.

The ranger stood upright once more once he finished applying the potion, stowing the empty bottle in his bag before looking over to the young man beside him. Surprising, was it? This young man really did give off an air of inexperience. The sight was enough to bring out a soft chuckle from the dark skinned man, his head shaking slowly before he turned to look over toward the tree line. "Not quite. It's more likely that after defeating the strongest among them the pokemon in the area will realize they are better off leaving us be."Tiny let out a low growl, turning to look in the opposite direction from where his trainer was facing. Frederick rose a brow as he turned around, quickly spotting a shroomish and carnivine that seemed like they were trying to sneak up on the pair of humans. "Though on some occasions there are those who seek to avenge them, or possibly come to take their place." Frederick looked down to Curry, nodding his head toward the not so sneaky pair. "Same as before. No need to get fancy."The monferno quickly spring into action, placing his hands on the nidorino between him and the action and vaulting over him to get closer to his opponents. By the time he was on the other side his flamethrower was ready to go, unleashing another wide burst of fire that would engulf both of their attackers in flames. "We'll get the carnivine. The shroomish should be easier for you to handle." As if hearing that the monferno was to be her challenger the floating trap pokemon would send out a number of her dangling vines toward the chimp, aiming to hit him with a vine whip. The lashing vines repeatedly struck the monferno, the numerous angles of attack making the strikes difficult to predict. Carnivine let out an amused laugh as it toyed with her prey, her sweet smelling saliva dripping from her waiting mouth as she contemplated her meal. "Break through and get in close with a mach punch." With fists and teeth clenched the monferno would suddenly feel a surge of energy travel through his arms and legs. In the blink of an eye the fire pokemon had used mach punch ro rush forward and deliver a strong uppercut aimed straight at the leafy pokemon's large head. Carnivine recoiled from the attack, the force of the impact forcing her head back and causing her to waver slightly. It took a moment for her to regain her senses, but she wasn't through yet. Her vines moved to wrap around and tangle the Curry, not aiming to harm him but rather to hold him in place. She lurched forward with her mouth open wide, aiming to simply bite down and devour her opponent in a single bite. While he tried to struggle against the vines there was little he could do. Everything went dark as the upper half of the ape's body was seemingly consumed. Despite the sight Frederick simply nodded, as if everything was going according to plan. "Flamethrower." Suddenly a burst of fire would errupt from the sides of the carnivine's mouth as the flamethrower burned it's body from the inside out. The direct hit forced the creature to release it's prey, while the force caused it to topple back a short ways before landing on the ground, motionless. The ranger repeatedly clapped his hands together, which prompted the chimp to come walking back over. As disturbing as that whole event was the smell inside that creature's mouth was...surprisingly pleasant. In fact the monkey could hardly stop from sniffing himself, the carnivine's sweet saliva still stuck in his orange fur. "I doubt many more will think to challenge us after that, but we should get going regardless. Curry needs a bath."lvl 28 Monferno (Blaze)Flamethrower | Taunt | Fury Swipes | Mach PunchCurry used Flamethrower on Carnivine and Shroomish! It's super effective! Carnivine used Vine Whip! [googlefont=Roboto Condensed] "Ayy, you get to try it on your own this time," he'd jeer to his Venipede, who grunted in response. The Venipede was less than pleased to know that it would be fighting the Shroomish without any advantages given by any attack from the Monferno. Kyle supposed it was only fair to see how much the Bug-type has grown within the short period of training and test his Pokemon's increase in level against a wild Pokemon for a more realistic scenario. They still had the advantage with typing and whatnot over a Grass-type like Shroomish, but it should still validate whether there was an improvement or not. As soon as the Monferno moved in to take on the Carnivine, Kyle would quickly set his Venipede in action with a command. "Let it come. Poison Sting." He was sure that Shroomish were quite infamous for the powders they scatter, much like many other Grass-types. Although his Venipede did not need to worry about getting poisoned, any other status effects were still unwanted. He'd give the Centipede Pokemon some kind of handicap for a true test, but he figured that probably won't accomplish anything in the end. Purple needles were shot from the Venipede, each of them piercing the Shroomish's skin before breaking off as soon as another one comes into contact. The Grass-type wouldn't have none of it though, as it proceeded to charge straight at the source of pain with Tackle. It endured the attacks until it reached the Bug-type through pure grit, knocking it off of its tiny feet and eventually stopping its attack. "Bug Bite."His Venipede tried to move, and it was only then that Kyle had noticed that the Shroomish did indeed managed to scatter its spores. Paralysis managed to impede its movements enough for it to get another Tackle to the face from the Grass-type, though he did eventually manage to take control of his body and lunge for the Mushroom Pokemon as soon as it approached. Its mouth gripped tightly at its skin as the wild Pokemon did its best to shake off the Bug-type out of it. It had, fortunately in their case, a lack of appendages to manually pry off the Venipede. "Go for another Poison Sting."And with that, the Shroomishh would then embrace its fall. Kyle's Pokemon would then stab the Shroomish with point blank needles, mercilessly injecting venom on the Grass-type as it helplessly succumbed to the poison. Its legs eventually gave up from holding it and the Venipede's weight, dropping the Shroomish flat on the ground with a soft thump. Knowing that his Pokemon can at least take on fights on its own without relying on other Pokemon was comforting to say at least. The operation pertaining to making his Bug-type less useless than it was before could finally be considered a success. "Yeah, we made good progress on Venipede, I guess." Still wasn't as strong as his other Pokemon, but it was in a workable state now at least. Defeated Shroomish! MADE BY NOVA
