[googlefont=Roboto Condensed] Lake of Rage. He hadn't visited this place for as long as he could remember. It had been his playground for the longest time outside of the internet. Childhood memories filled the place, and so it wasn't unthinkable that Kyle would go visit the place whenever he went back to his hometown. It had became rather infamous from rumors about a resident red Gyarados, although for the time he spent playing by the body of water, Kyle could safely assume that there was no such thing that fit the description. He'd toy with the idea though. Sitting on a rather obscure spot, a place quite a distance away from the main path, he'd set up a folding chair and a fishing rod, fixed in the ground in a rather professional manner as he fiddled with his game on his seat. It usually takes a while to get a bite and Kyle would rather maximize his time efficiently. It went against the idea of taking a trip to fish to calm himself down after the events in the tower, but then again, Kyle was more attached to his games than activities such as this. His Electrike had been out of his ball, accompanying his trainer as Kyle idly pressed buttons without much regard to the nature around him. Left to his own devices, his Electrike was free to do whatever it wanted, but without any other playmate out of their Pokeballs, the canine opted to stay within an earshot of his trainer. Whatever Kyle was going to catch, he supposed that taking it on would be the next best thing outside of running deep into the forests. Continuing on playing on its own, Electrike would then stop whatever he was doing as soon as it detected someone approaching, letting out a friendly bark as the figure approached them. MADE BY NOVA |

[attr="class","smdbody"] ash frequently visited such a location to conduct personal training that often involved herself and her team. there was an ample amount of space for her pokemon to give their limbs a good stretch here. and she even allowed them to wander aimlessly within a reasonable distance from herself, for they had been trained to respond to a whistle that would produce a pitched sound that her own hearing could barely detect. but they would heed its call quickly, as though its generated a considerable amount of noise.
'definitely worth the extra cash i spent on it.'
the girl had carefully secured the item around her neck, the whistle forged from durable metal presently secured 'round her neck with a nylon cord.
'kyle said he'd be around here today. haven't seen him, though.'
she had been resting near the lake's edge for roughly an hour now, taking in the shimmering surface of the water that prettily reflected the sun's light. warmth saturated the airs on such a day, and there were only a few clouds present within the sky to potentially hamper the great ball of fire's rays. ash had dressed appropriately to combat the hot weather, having donned a pair of comfortable shorts, a tank top, and her slightly worn tennis shoes.
"maybe i won't run into him today," she grumbled.
ash shrugged, not entirely bothered by this possibility. but she couldn't help but wonder about how he was progressing as a trainer, and why he would come to a place such as this one. it was likely to train, but she couldn't be sure.
'i'll find out eventually, either way.'
when she stood and brushed herself free of bits of grass and leaf, she would walk at her own pace, taking in her immediate surroundings as she did so. it was only then that she ran into kyle by chance, spotting him a good distance away before making her approach and raising her arm in greeting.

[googlefont=Roboto Condensed] "Huh?"The preemptive bark, alongside a voice calling for his name got Kyle to do the automatic response of pressing the certain buttons to pause the game and look up at whoever was distracting him from his game time. Looking up, an annoyed expression was quickly replaced by a more neutral one as soon as his eyes saw Ashley. He did tell him that he was going to meet her here, though it was mostly because he'd rather try his hand at fishing once again and simply just accomplish both stuff altogether. "You, uh, took your time, I guess."He didn't measure the time it took for her to find him, though he supposed that it was his fault for not mentioning where exactly he'd be waiting. None of it matters now anyways, since she was here in the end. He supposed he was about to ask about whether or not she'd join the upcoming contest, though the thought was quickly swept away when his fishing line finally got something biting. Good timing since he just got out of his gaming trance, he supposed. "Trike!"He'd call his Electrike, who had been playing on its lonesome in a patch of dirt behind him. The canine quickly trotted over to where his trainer was struggling to pull the line against the Pokemon on the water, eventually winning the game of strength as he planted his feet firmly on the ground and tossed his catch in the air. "Discharge."He had not yet seen the Goldeen's form when he had ordered his Electrike to attack it. It only seemed natural for Kyle to call for an Electric-type move against whichever Pokemon he managed to reel in from his fishing rod. Regardless, the Electric-type was quick to follow up the command, generating his electricity as he ran towards his trainer and his catch and then releasing the pent up energy from his body into the air, electrocuting the Goldfish Pokemon before it landed on the ground with a pathetic thud. "I don't want it." He'd take a glance at his sister, but knowing her, he supposed that she wouldn't have enough interest on the fish either. His eyes went back to the fainted Water-type, and then to his Pokemon. "I guess we'll just return it to the lake."The Electrike quickly grabbed the fainted Pokemon by its tail, cranking his neck and making a three-hundred sixty degree turn, whose momentum was aided by the Goldeen's weight, before releasing his grip, managing to throw the Pokemon in the middle of the lake. If the Water-type had been somewhat flat like a stone, Kyle was sure that his Electrike would be able to manage to get it to skip on the water's surface. A Buizel popped its head from where the Goldeen landed, rising up from the water and coming straight at them from the looks of its expression. "Do you want to deal with that?" he'd ask Ashley. ash blew upon her whistle, and would successfully attract the attention of her staraptor. he was in the midst of circling the sky high above the lake, the bird taking advantage of the gentle breeze that made flying all the more pleasant.
"courier!"
the girl waved her arms, managing to make herself easy to spot before gesturing toward the small and orange target. with all the noise she was generating, it was a surprise the buizel stuck around to eye the odd female as she moved, shouted, jumped about and stared at the sky.
"bui!"
it felt large talons encircle its slim frame as it was ruthlessly snatched from the waters and tossed onto the wet grass that bordered the lake's edge. it rolled and tumbled, and would blink rapidly in confusion as it struggled to stand and regain its bearings.
"good job, boy."
ash crooned in delight at her bird's aim and ability to pluck up the unsuspecting water-type. and he had even been gentle enough to deposit it upon the ground without harming it.
'sweet,' she thought.
"i'll let you handle this one, alright?"
the staraptor fixed his intense gaze upon the buizel, whom blinked owlishly up at the huge bird as he landed before it.
"close combat!"
a flurry of movement would follow the command, the bird utilizing his wings, legs and even his head to thoroughly batter the water-type into submission. it was a brutal move that would cause the buizel to black out repeatedly, the blunt force applied in rapid succession causing the creature to stumble back again and again as the staraptor continued his rapid assault.
"toss 'em."
once it was obvious that the buizel had been effectively knocked unconscious, ash would order the bird to return it to the lake. and as courier moved to obey the simple command, ash would look to her brother and properly address him.
"what have you been up to, anyway?" she asked, her voice surprisingly soft. "still stuck on your games?"
ash sat next to his folded chair, wrapping her arms 'round her bent knees to peer up at him. he and his electrike appeared to be in good shape, which was nice to see.

[googlefont=Roboto Condensed] "What I've been up to?" he'd repeat, trying to buy time for him to think of a proper answer. It would be embarrassing to say that he's been concentrating on his Pokemon when they haven't been getting that much strong. The most he could say about his team's progress was that his Pokemon have been trying not to be weak at least. His Venipede came to mind, who has only been able to hold his own ground just lately. He suppose games was a stretch as well. As much as he prided himself about his accomplishments, with most of the consoles he has stuck to the home he hasn't been visiting as much with these past few weeks, the next best thing he had been doing was replaying on handheld games or the ones on his phone, which he hardly considers as games. "Maybe I should concentrate back to my games," he'd blurt out amid his musing, casting his line back to the lake once again. "Oh right, I've been meaning to ask..." He had not expected another bite as soon as he had the line back into the water, but apparently, it did. The struggle to pull it out of the water required less strain from him, to which Kyle easily managed to swing his shoulders and pull it out of the water. A Finneon showed itself, and with it following the traction of Kyle's pull, flew straight to his Electrike's position. Suddenly being out of the water shocked the Water-type, but it still managed to call out a move out of panic. Clouds darkened, and water started to pour from the sky. Before long, a light drizzle has formed within the area. With everything wet, he wasn't sure if having his Electrike use its Discharge would still be a good idea. "Wait, no!" Kyle had preemptively shouted at his Electrike, who was already charging up for his next attack. As soon as the Finneon was within its range, the canine released an immense amount of electricity from its body, frying the Finneon as it went. Kyle immediately dropped the fishing rod, not wanting the electricity to travel through the line, and simply gave a sigh of relief to find that the electricity has not reached them. Kyle shook his head at his Pokemon's performance, clicking his tongue as he watched it pick up the fainted Finneon by its tail and fling it back to the lake. He was wet, the hair he styles up every morning dropping down to a mess, and he figured his Electrike still hasn't improved much in terms of its temperament, but things will work out eventually in the end, he hoped. As soon as the Finneon's body dropped on the surface of the water with a plop, he turned back to Ashley. "Ah, yeah. What do you think of that contest thing that's been on the news lately?" ash was caught unawares by kyle's knowledge of the oncoming spectacle. he didn't appear to be the type to acquire a sudden interest in such a fanciful event without good reason. the brunette's own knowledge of coordination was pitiful in amount, but their mother had partook in the occasional contest in her youth.
'i never really asked why she stopped in the first place.'
the brunette cocked her head to the side, leveling her brother with a look that betrayed her suspicion.
"what?" she began. "are ya interested in watching it or something?"
and then ash would chuckle and move until she was situated upon her knees. she rested her callous hands upon the arm of kyle's folded chair, her grin broad and her eyes alight with what appeared to be amusement.
"or are ya going to par-ti-ci-pate?"
she purposefully popped the last 'p' as she spoke, her lips curling to reveal teeth.
"tell me you are. just make my day, kyle," she encouraged. "please do."
she was so entirely focused by her sibling that she failed to take notice to her quickly approaching medicham. rook had heeded the call of the whistle, and would only slow her approach when she realized that her mistress appeared to be out of harm's way.
"oh, rook! c'mere and say 'hi'!"
ash temporarily dropped the subject at hand in favor of beckoning her medicham closer. the fighter stepped closer, a welcoming smile upon her face as she greeted both kyle and his canine counterpart.
"so, did ya come here to train or something?"
she playfully poked at the older male's cheek.

the shellos escaped the girl's focus as it crawled its way out of the lake, its slimy form clinging onto the slick and grassy surface of the bank.
"hm?"
ash turned her head, alerted to the wild pokemon's presence once her medicham had secured the pokemon within her telekinetic grip.
"it's just a shellos, rook. get rid of it or something. i doubt it can do much of anything to us."
her medicham's fingers would flex as she administered a 'confusion', intent on discouraging the dual-type's return. it trembled violently as its grew befuddled, its expression becoming slack as it went limp.
"anyway," the girl said, focusing upon her sibling as rook disposed of the wild creature. "did that 'mon i give you evolve yet?"

[googlefont=Roboto Condensed] "W-What?" He iterated, confused to how he was suddenly the one under questioning. "I'm the one asking you about the contest."For a while, he continued to concentrate on fixing his fishing rod back to the water after untangling the line that the Finneon had messed up upon reeling it in. With one swift flick, the line was cast back to the middle of the lake, waiting the next unfortunate Pokemon that would take in the bait. As soon as he was finished, he turned back to his sister with a disgruntled expression. "I-I'll think about it," he finally answered. Loosening up as she changed the subject, Kyle raised a brow after she had asked the question. "As you can see, I'm here to fish." A hand went to point at his entire setup, all to make his fishing trip comfortable. "Training can happen tomorrow or something." He'd be lying if he said that he had not been particular with raising his Pokemon as of late, though he certainly was lax on the prospect of getting his Pokemon on the top caliber of things. As soon as they were capable, that was fine with Kyle. "If you're really adamant for a battle, I guess we can have one."He didn't exactly hate battling as much as training his Pokemon. It wasn't like his Pokemon was too weak compared to a regular trainer's, but then again, knowing how his sister gets motivated over petty little things such as getting stronger, he'd assume that her Pokemon were much more trained than his. Losing was inevitable, but he suppose that was to be expected. "Just a one v one though, alright? Maybe set the battle up for later after dinner. My favorite series is showing its latest episode later and I don't want to miss it." Fishing was basically just him killing time until the show airs anyways. Kyle perked up when Ash checked up on the Pokemon she had traded to him, a smile appearing on his features as he started to talk about his Pokemon. "You mean Poochy One? Yeah, he's a handsome boy now." His expression quickly turned sour though, suddenly focusing his attention to the lake. "Wished I could stop him from evolving though. I basically have to wrestle him every time he gets too playful now."As if on cue, something on the other end of the line had started pulling, prompting Kyle to match the Pokemon's strength with his own. Drawing all his strength on one single instance to pull out the Pokemon, he managed to get the Carvanha out of the water, flying through the air before enveloping itself with water and charging straight at Kyle. "Electrike!" He managed to quickly duck out of the way, leaving the Water-type to face his Electrike at the end of his trajectory. Kyle did not even need to utter a single move to have his Pokemon launch his own attack on the fish. Electricity cackling in its fur, it released all the energy in one big explosion. In an instant, the Carvanha was done for, its rough skin charred black with Electrike's enthusiasm being unable to hold back from attacking it in a moderate manner. Kyle approached the Carvanha, who still was confirmed alive with the small movements of its gills. "Well, I don't want this either. Can you get this back to where we got it from?"Picking it up by its tail, Electrike had decided to just pull it across the ground instead of heaving it up in the air and tossing it straight to the lake. As soon as it was by the edge of the water, his Electrike had left its limp body where the tides could collect it back. Watching it rather solemnly, the canine did not expect it when a Seel came floundering to the shore, surprising the Electric-type and forcing a yip out of him. "Just come back here," he ordered his Electrike. He supposed his sister would want to battle it as Kyle started to tidy up the small spot he got and getting his things ready to carry back home. "'cause it's not a dog, right?"
'i think it's a seel. a decently-sized one, too.'
the water-type blinked blearily at the humans and the pokemon within their presence, its features soon betraying its alarm as it turned its head this way and that. the brunette's smile lessened slightly as it moved to flee, and she would quickly usher in her luxray to bring it's desperate attempt to an abrupt halt.
"knight, use 'thunderbolt' on it."
knight would release a powerful lance of energy after he processed the simple order, his eyes narrowing upon his target as he carefully aimed for the pudgy creature. it released a sharp cry as the elemental attack connected, electricity clinging onto its form immediately after.
'paralyzed,' ash thought, brows furrowing.
"seel can't really breathe underwater for long, can they?"
tossing it back could potentially kill it, its chances lowered due to the lingering effects of her cat's 'thunderbolt'. so she shrugged and retreated a step, leaving it where it lay in favor of observing her brother pack up.
"leaving so soon?" ash questioned. "back home?"
the girl checked the time, and took a moment to truly process the male's previous words. he had mentioned a 'one on one' which caused her to frown in disapproval.
"we have six 'mons," the girl said, gesturing toward her companions. "six. 'mons. what, are you afraid i'll stomp you in a match or something?"
ash eyed him, that suspicious little glimmer of her's resurfacing as she rested a hand upon the curve of her own hip.
"we'll make it a three on three or at least a two on two," she continued. "i'm already a lil miffed about you even suggesting a half-assed battle like that. but, whatever."
she shrugged, having quickly gotten over it.
"i'll be coming back home in two days. it'll give ya time to get ready, alright? we'll figure out what we wanna do between now and then. but for now i gotta go."
ash returned her companions to their respective capsules before securing the pokeballs upon the notches of her belt.
"i'm meeting someone a town over - so i'll see ya later, kyle."
