[googlefont=Roboto Condensed] Sable had been having a tough time since arriving in the region expanding both her team and her business. It seemed as if ghost and dark types didn't quite want to come out and play with the exorcist and frankly, she wasn't too pleased about that. Having talked to some locals at the inn she had taken residence in they suggested Enju City. It seemed like a stretch to find the type she was looking for in the old city but she was willing to give it a shot. Zobiris had been all too happy to come see the town and they had spent the better part of the day sight seeing. The Bell Tower had been as awe inspiring as it was impressive but Sable had found herself leaving there empty handed. Their next stop had been the dance theater where the Sableye had jumped right into the show and had nearly gotten them kicked out. Now the pair roamed the streets as the night began to descend on the city. Streetlights flicked on, illuminating the streets in a somber glow. Sable found herself unsure of what to do now. The whole night lay ahead of her yet she wasn't sure where her foot steps would take her. For now she was content to simply stroll the streets as they began to empty, whistling an offbeat tune.

Roy Case had descended from Mt. Suribachi a few hours ago, and was currently looking around Enju for some decent food. He'd seen a lot of new things in his short time away from home, but none of that included a meal that compared to the dinners he and the Coldblood Crew had jacked back in Kogane. He smiled lazily thinking about a steak some chef almost had to throw out because a snotty customer had claimed it too well done for his tastes. All he had to chew on was the memory of that grub. Strolling around the dark city, he hoped to find something more filling before the big day.
Not many people seemed to enjoy the night life of Enju for whatever reason. Roy had heard the rumors here and there of ghost pokémon infesting the city, but Roy hadn't any encounters with such horror stories. "These wimps," Roy said to his newest partner, Arti, on his shoulder, "Give the crew back home three days and we'd have this town in our back pocket," he bragged to the trapinch. "You just wait, new guy, the boys back home will get a kick out of you," he expressed.
The young trainer was feeling particularly sure of himself, confident in what his team would be able to in the contest in Tanba. Looking about, the only other person he saw populating the city streets was a short, black-haired woman caught up in her own thoughts. Roy thus felt just confident enough to shout at the moon, "HEY! Any hungry ghosts wanna show me where I can get some food!" Some pokémon began yapping and barking and making all sorts of sounds in response, earning a laugh from the gangster, cut short by a sharp pain on his ear. Arti had a nasty tendency to gnaw down on the kid when he did something rambunctious like that. The ranger wasn't kidding about Arti keeping him in line.
"Easy! Easy!" Roy peeled him off his ear, rubbing the sore spot, and, for a moment, oblivious to any approaching creatures of the night.

[googlefont=Roboto Condensed] Sable would faintly register the sound of someone talking behind her among the thinning crowd. The voice was sure of themselves, over confident as they chatted to perhaps a friend or pokemon. Sable didn't quite care to listen any further as her eyes would lazily wander the street, hoping to find a ghost type hiding among the dark corner. Her intense concentration was broken as the man behind her would yell at the air, as if calling to ghost types. Despite her desire not to get involved with whatever the man was talking about she found herself turning on her heels and stopping in her tracks. "I wish there was some ghost types around here. I haven't seen once since coming to this region," Sable would said with a large toothy grin. "Zobiris and I would absolutely love to meet them, wouldn't we?"The Sable matched her trainer's grin, showing off the large dagger like gems that lined her mouth. <"That we would."> Came the disembodied voice of the ghost type. As if to answer the man's call two pokemon did seem to come out of the wood works but unfortunately were not ghost types. The Grimer and Rattata pair seemed to be traveling in a pack looking for perhaps a straggler to ambush. "Guess finding a ghost type will be put on hold." Sable said with a nonchalant shrug as she turned to face the intruders. "Hopefully you can handle that Rattata, yeah? Or maybe you'll be the one the hungry ghost type feed on." Sable said, already taking a defensive stance. Zobiris matched her trainer's stance awaiting her first command. "Power gem, knock that stinky blob back." Sable commanded, wincing as the noxious odor of the poison type hit her nose. Zobiris did as she was told, launching forward two gem like apparitions and hitting the Grimer square in the face. Grimer roared in anger, shooting out a thick cloud of poison gas. As luck would have it the gas cloud seemed to wisp by Zobiris as a slight wind carried it away. Sable would smile a strained smile, trying to keep her breathing to a minimum as the odor began to grow stronger. She wanted nothing more than to end this battle now. "Shadow claw." Sable said curtly through gritted teeth. Zobiris launched forward and sank her claws deep within the oozing purple flesh of the Grimer. Before Zobiris could retreat Grimer used mud slap, the attack dirtying the ghostly body of Zobiris. She groaned as she drifted back towards Sable, awaiting her next attack. "Shadow claw again, end this." Sable called out. Zobiris once again came forward and sank her attack within the body of the Grimer. She pulled back her hands, watching the trail of slime follow. Grimer wasn't quite done yet despite taking two hits square to the body. Once again he used poison gas but this time it hit Zobiris before she could avoid the cloud. Instantly she felt sick, shaky even. The poison would settle in her body, slowly stripping away her health with each movement. "Shit Zobiris, use shadow claw again." Sable said, already reaching for the antidote in her bag. This time the attack fainted the Grimer but not before he flashed a shit eating grin on his way to unconsciousness. Zobiris floated back towards Sable with a shuddering gait. Dropping to her knees she sprayed her pokemon down with her only antidote until the bottle was empty. Zobiris would feel the medical spray instantly sapping the toxins from her body and within moments she found herself feeling better. <"Thanks, sis."> The ghost type said with appreciation as she turned her head to look at the loud mouthed man that had run into previously, wondering how he fared with the Rattata.

Roy Case was a bit insulted this strange girl didn't think he could even handle a small mouse pokémon. Rattatas were one of the few species that Roy could easily recognize and he was quick to size up the wild creature as nothing much. "Okay, Arti, let's see what you can actually do for me." The trapinch looked surprised to be called into battle, but he answered the call all the same. "Hopefully that ranger wasn't lying about your moves," he prayed, and the pokémon dropped to the city streets opposite the rattata.
Before Roy could think up a catchphrase for his partner, the rattata began a dash towards Arti, looking to Tackle the pokémon and be done with the fight. He was moving much quicker than Roy expected from the vermin that permeated Kogane. Thinking quick but not clearly, Roy made his first command to the trapinch, "Sand-Attack! On yourself!" Arti was confused by the order, but the loyal pokémon complied nonetheless, cracking his head against the ground, a cloud of sand was whipped up, and while Arti was blinded, so too was the rattata charging through and missing his prey. "Haha! Now, let me show you an all new trick!"
Vash the Ranger had been thorough in explaining Arti's moveset before their trade, and Roy had learned something new about a move he'd been using for a while already. "Feint Attack!" he shouted. Though Arti was still struggling to wipe the sand from his eyes, he complied, and a shadow of his form baited the rattata into fighting the wind, giving Arti a free shot that pushed his opponent back a ways. "Ha!" Roy looked around for someone to brag to and only found the girl wrapping up her own fight. "Bet you didn't know Feint Attack hardly ever misses, did you, girly?"
Cocky and arrogant, Roy returned his mind to the battle. He wasn't so much focused on strategy as he was on coming up with a name for the technique he'd come up with. He employed the trick twice more to earn some free shots at the exceedingly frustrated wild pokémon. Both fighters were all but blind, but Arti had already learned to trust his new trainer. Rattata seemed to catch the smell of his opponent, making a quick dash that Roy couldn't react to while he was lost in his imagination. Arti sustained a Quick Attack to his side, reeling from the blow.
Never did it cross Roy's mind to pull his partner out of the fight. The rattata paused to catch Arti's scent once more, but Roy was paying plenty of attention now. "Pyramid Trap, Arti!" Roy had finally come up with what he thought was a killer name for this killer technique, "Sand Attack and then Feint Attack!" The cloud of sand threw off the rattata's Tackle attempt, and Arti was finally able to land the Feint Attack that put him down for good, crumpling in exhaustion afterwards.
"Roy Case isn't afraid of any ghosts, hungry or not," the gangster bragged to the girl. Undermining his boasting, his stomach grumbled for supper. "Though if you know a good place to grab a bit, I wouldn't be against it," he said, grinning wide.
Rattata defeated!

[googlefont=Roboto Condensed] Sable would watch and see the strange man finish his battle a minute after hers. Grinning at his boasting she couldn't help but feel this man was a lot of talk. Why else would he be bragging to a stranger about his prowess? It wasn't as if pokemon battles were uncommon on the streets and it had been just a Rattata after all. Still, Sable wasn't in the mood to rain on his parade and at his question of food brought to light her own hunger."As a matter of fact, slayer of rats, I do indeed think there is a quaint little cafe on the last block." Sable said with a mischievous grin, remembering faintly the restaurant she had passed on her stroll. She had stopped briefly and debated enter and the intoxicating aroma filled her nose of whatever they were serving. "I'll walk with you if you want?" Sable suggested, turning on her heels and making for the way they had come.Not even three steps on her new path to food did two more pokemon seem to come out of the woodwork, aggressively postured and clearly looking for a battle. Sable looked towards Roy with a frown. "Seems like they're targeting us? Almost like it's some sort of stupid gang..." Her voice trailed off as the Meowth approached her with a quick pace, unaware of Roy's affiliation with gangs.. "Guess food will have to wait, Zobiris use zen headbutt!"Zobiris was all too happy to battle the Meowth, her attack hitting him in the stomach and knocking the cat backwards. Winded as the Meowth was it was clear he wasn't done. With the Sableye so close Meowth used scratch and watched in astonishment as his claws passed through the body of Zobiris without causing harm."Ghost types are fun, no?" Sable teased the Meowth cruelly, her own wicked grin matching that of her pokemon's. "Shadow claw."
Still so close Zobiris used shadow claw, the attack painfully raking the body of the Meowth. The cat pokemon would squeal in pain and anger. Hoping against hope his attack would work Meowth sank his teeth into the arm of Zobiris, causing the Sableye to match the squeal of pain he had just uttered.The type disadvantage of the attack left Zobiris shaking in anger and pain as she stepped back. Both her and Sable's smiles faded and a cold look crossed her face. "Zobiris use shadow claw again. End this dumb cat." Sable commanded.Zobiris nodded, running her hand over the bite along her arm before launching herself forward. Again the attack hit the Meowth, the force of the impact fainting him with a heavy thud along the city streets.With her second battle finished Sable looked back at Roy with a grin, a stark contrast to the cruel way she had commanded Zobiris only moments before. "If I didn't know better it would seem these guys are part of some organized crime circuit or something. They seem intent on taking us down and if you weren't here... Hell, I don't think I'd be doing too well honestly. Nothing worse than a bunch of idiots making a gang to harass people just wanting to enjoy the night." Sable said, casting her gaze back towards the fainted Meowth as if scolding him.

Quaint and little weren't exactly what Roy had in mind, but cafe meant food and that overruled all other judgments in the teenager's head. "I'd be game for anything," he admitted, happily following along in her footsteps. However, when their path was interrupted by a bird and cat, and the girl mentioned 'gang' and 'stupid' in the same sentence, Roy could only nod his head along with the sentiment. He was happy to fight instead of attempting to explain himself.
Distracted by her comment, he thoughtfully ordered his trapinch into battle. "Arti, you again," he said with little expression. Nervous about going through another fight, he took position a few feet in front of Roy, but before the trainer could even think to make an attack, the pidgey swooped down and Tackled Arti, knocking him out from the fight. Roy snapped to attention, distraught by seeing his pokémon fainted. "Stupid, stupid," Roy muttered to himself, recalling Arti and throwing another pokémon into battle. He slapped himself upside the head, waking up from the daze and refocusing on the fight. "Rack! Ruin!"
The croagunk took position, and the pidgey dived in for another Tackle, eager to claim another victim, but Roy wasn't letting the diminutive wild pokémon get the jump on him this time. "Sucker Punch, Rack!" Before the pidgey could even think to alter her course, Roy's partner cut off the divebomb with a lightning fast punch, catching the pidgey off guard and putting her down onto the streets of Enju. "Nice work, man!" Roy tried to sound excited, but struggled to get some real passion out of his own voice. "Way to clean up, Rack," with that last compliment, he recalled his partner and pocketed the pokéball, waiting for the girl to finish her fight.
When she finally did, Roy was about to comment on the one sided matchup when she started talking about gangs again. This time, the words seemed to get under Roy's skin. "Maybe I should've introduced myself before," Roy finally said, "My name is Roy Case, from Kogane. I'm..." there is when he'd usually introduce his membership as a part of the Coldblood Crew, but he just couldn't manage it. The words didn't form, either from shame or anger. "I'm," he repeated, "gonna be in that contest tomorrow in Tanba." It wasn't a lie. But, it was certainly the first time Roy had concealed the truth about who he was.
