ARMS STRETCHED HIGH overhead as the young researcher reached toward the sky, rolling up onto her tiptoes as her dark green lashes weighed over her eyes, sun-tanned skin soaking in the afternoon rays. The stout, egg-shaped body of a Chansey stretched at her side, little arms straining toward the sky as her round feet shifted up onto their toes as well, the little pokémon doing its best to emulate her trainer's posture.[break][break]
Waves lapping against the open expanse of the city's northern shore, sky blue and bright overhead, the trainer was at peace - the point of her hands dropping steadily as she slowly leaned herself forward, her body bowing down to touch her fingers to the sandy toes of her sandaled feet. Chanchan's eyes watched closely after the woman, her own body following suit to the best of its ability.The short stubs of her arms failed to reach her own feet, but the effort was there, little tail wagging gleefully as she smiled warmly down at the sight of the sand, pleased with her imitation.[break][break]
❝ Aaaand. Breathe. ❞
[break][break]Chanchan gave a blissful sigh, both the trainer and her pokémon's bodies straightening back up to turn their eyes out toward the sea.[break][break]
❝ Do you like it, Chanchan? ❞ called the woman's peaceful voice, serene gaze panning over the gloss of the sea as it shimmered under the sun.[break][break]
The Chansey gave a cheerful cry, the tiny nubs of her arms pressing themselves bashfully to her cheeks as she shifted her weight from one foot to the other, shy.[break][break]
❝ Me too, ❞ was the simple reply. ❝ Now. Let's try again. ❞[break][break]
The woman leaned to one side, dropping to a knee as she guided the strap of her dufflebag to rest over her shoulder, body lifting up from the sand to take a few steps toward the edge of the shoreline.[break][break]
Chansey gave a warbling cry, eyes screwing tightly closed as she buried her eyes behind the cover of her arms, her cheerful demeanor traded for one of childish fear as she refused to watch her trainer step into the water.[break][break]
❝ It's fun, ❞ Palm informed lightly, her steps slowing to a stop as she turned a bit in her place, eyes turning to watch her cowering companion. Chanchan didn't so much as shake her head in reply, supposing herself invisible with her eyes so tightly closed.[break][break]
❝ Um — ❞ the trainer hummed aloud, mulling over possible ways to proceed.

 Because the night is young, the line is out the door. Today was crazy but, tonight the city is ours! It was the afternoon, a time where Antreas could actually handle the heat. The temperature wasn't blazing hot, but it wasn't too cold either, so it created a perfect mixture for the young man to find a chance to head to the beach. It had been a while since Antreas had visited a beach, even if he had lived in Slateport prior to this, he felt a bit of content at knowing he could go to a place that had a familiar feel. With him he had decided to let his Starly, newly obtained, roam freely so they could perhaps bond a bit. From what he has picked up thus far, Teru was a bit naive and excitable, quick to act if he felt curious enough to investigate but he also had a strong learning aptitude. " Alright, remember, since bird's can't exactly swim well save for seabirds, try and avoid getting into the deeper- Teru...?" Crap! The Starly had bolted almost the instant he saw the waves lapping at the shore. With a bit of a sigh Antreas took a running start after the little bird. As soon as he hit the sand was when he became slow as the soft grains began to absorb his footfalls while the Starly began pulling ahead, closer and closer to the water. Worst part? Teru didn't care, he clearly was going for a dive. " Teru, wait!" Darnit, he was just a bit away from the water and Teru was near ready to take a head dive. With a bit of a frustrated grunt he thought fast, deciding to do one of his best options. In order to gain distance he suddenly leaped forward and up onto his hands, his body moving with the momentum as he curled over backwards. The moment his feet touched ground he vaulted himself in a flip, earning ground with the speed and distance it took. Feet touched water and that was his opportunity. Eyes quickly catching sight of the diving avian, he kept his momentum and forced a sprint into the shallow water, surging forward and suddenly taking a leap. Catching the bird in his hands as if he were taking a passed football, Antreas soon was in the water with a massive splash as his harms stuck straight up to keep Teru free of a soaking. Antreas hadn't exactly noticed the others nearby, having been far too focused on his silly little birdie. After the big splash he quickly shuffled to his feet and stood up, soaked to the bone as his shorts and t-shirt sagged heavily. " Teru, don't just rush in. You can't swim well, meaning you could have drowned." Antreas told the bird, not exactly a scolding but there was a hint of seriousness. As for Teru, he seemed a bit confused at first, but finally gave a defeated look. Well, hopefully he understood. MADE BY NOVA |

Noelani simply blinked at the gesture, still considering her approach as the Chansey drew her arm back over her gaze, making herself 'invisible' once again.[break][break] Calm green eyes turned elsewhere as she shift her weight, head canting slightly as her lips settled into a faint pout. As much as she had hoped to enjoy a swim with the egg-toting pokémon, she didn't want to force her partner into doing anything she didn't want to. Breeze teasing the loose waves of dark green hair draped down over her back she bowed her head slightly, gazing down to her toes before turning toward the sea.[break][break] The sound of her feet against the grains of sand inspired Chanchan to drop her arm again, watching her trainer with interest as she made her way to the water. As the waves ebbed at the woman's feet the Chansey shrank away, hopping a few times in her place to turn herself around completely - setting her back to the ocean.[break][break] The researcher's gaze turned slightly at the call for someone to wait, both her eyes and those of her Chansey turning to watch as the trainer lept, flipped, and bound after his excited little bird, desperate to save it from the strength of the tide. Chansey's arms flailed out wildly as she hopped from one foot to the other, immediately concerned by the situation. Noelani, on the other hand, watched on passively.[break][break] A loud splash was the result of the chase, a sizable swell of seawater being forced up onto the land as it was displaced by Antreas' now soaked figure. As the water rolled away a pair of angry crustaceans were revealed, the pair unlocking their pincers from each other to turn their wrath on the man that had disturbed their battle of might.[break][break] The aspiring professor glanced toward the pokémon thoughtfully, watching as the particularly menacing Krabby gave an eager snap of its claws, the former hurrying around to angle its body sideways toward the trainer, ready to race in for the pinch.[break][break] ❝ Chanchan? ❞ she called lightly, the little pink nurse hurrying as fast as her little legs could carry to bring her to Noelani's side. ❝ Can you aim your egg bomb from here? ❞[break][break] Sucking in a deep breath, the Chansey plucked her egg from the safety of its pouch, holding it up high as she could with her little arms before throwing it full force toward the two - letting the egg plummet out of the sky to land square on the Krabby's head.[break][break] Chanchan used Egg Bomb![break]
Krabby was hit for Moderate damage! [break] Corphish skittered back a short ways fearful of the egg cracking down on the crab's stony crown. Both pokémon foamed their displeasure, bubbles spilling from their mouths as their feet shuffled quickly against the sand in a pair of angry tantrums.[break][break] ❝ Use rollout. ❞[break][break] Chanchan didn't have to be told twice, body rolling up into a ball before spinning madly against the sand, kicking up the fine white grains to spray through the air before suddenly launching forward, her body rushing to connect with Krabby. Seeing the pokémon head its way, the crab hurried to spit a flurry of bubbles, the stream flying steadily to collide with Chansey's body.[break][break] Chanchan used Rollout![break]

Chanchan was hit for Minor damage! [break] The bubbles popped against Chanchan's round form before it met to crash into the crab, the hit sending the smaller of the two skidding back through the sand. [break][break] ❝ Finish with double edge. ❞[break][break] Grains whipped sharply from the ground as Chanchan turned sharply against the beach, rolling to barrel her way in closer toward the angered Krabby. The crimson crustacean raised his pincers at the ready, preparing to catch the speedy Chansey before she could get off another blow. It didn't expect the pokémon to bounce up from the beach, Chanchan's rolled body uncurling itself to land her feet to the ground before kicking up from the sand to plow headlong into the startled Krabby's form.[break][break] Chanchan used double edge![break]

Krabby fainted! [break] After sailing a short ways into the air the crab fell to land on its back, pincer twitching as it rest against the beach, unconscious.[break][break] Chanchan shook out her fur as she got to her feet, her trainer's eyes turning from the battle to be sure Starly and his trainer were okay.[break][break] ❝ Did you get wet? ❞ she asked toward the stranger. As obvious as the answer was, the innocence of the question rang clear in her tone. [break][break]wild thread![break]

Antreas had shuffled his way back to the sand, but did so hastily when a pair of crustaceans has become rather agitated in being disturbed by his big splash. As a battle commenced between the woman's Chansey and the Krabby, it seemed like a good time to put Teru to the test. " Well, shall we?" Teru seemed to give a little eager ruffle of his feathers, and so Antreas released the bird. At least he was quick to recover from the whole ordeal. Deciding to lure the Corphish up further into the sand where it was dry he backed up more and gave the first command. " Let's go with Agility first!" Besides, the opponent can't win if they can't touch you after all. The little bird used the move, increasing his speed as the Corphish shot off a Bubble attack toward Teru. Though it was a bit faster than expected, ending up with Teru barely evading the attack. It was a close call, to say the least. Teru used Agility! Speed increased!
Corphish used Bubble! It missed!" Let's give it a Quick Attack, Teru." He told the little bird, who quickly complied. Darting forward, he was going for a head-on attack. Though upon closing the gap the Corphish suddenly unleashed a Bubble, blinding Teru as he suddenly collided violently and the two began tumbling back into the sand, a flurry of the beach being tossed into the air as they flailed. Teru used Quick Attack!

The two Pokemon collided! Moderate damage sustained by each!Teru struggled to get up, but he wasn't fast enough as the Corphish grabbed and held onto his tail feathers. In a frantic effort to escape Teru began to grapple at the crab's shell and face with his claws, scratching wildly. Though it didn't seem to work instead with the Starly hovering around wildly with the Corphish hanging off his tail, which gave Antreas an idea. " Climb, Teru! Climb as high as you can then use Aerial Ace." The Starly began to regain some of his composure at the young man's orders, suddenly grabbing the crab in his claws and at a bit of a weighted down pace he began climbing higher and higher. This clearly unnerved the crab, used to feeling the ground underneath it. Once they were about sixty feet in the air, now with a wildly flailing crab, Teru dropped the little devil and then began to also descend. As instructed, he unleashed an Aerial Ace. It was nothing impressive, but with the speed from taking a steep dive the collision with the Corphish was violent and it didn't end, the Corphish suddenly speeding downward like some lobster meteor. Crashing into the ground below, the Corphish staggered up, barely having been saved by the soft sand of the beach as it watched the bird angrily. Teru gained air with the Corphish!

Corphish hit the ground! Heavy damage sustained!" Finish this, Teru. One last Quick Attack, but attack from the back, circle him until he is dizzy." The Starly began to do as told, flying circles around the little lobster, lucky enough to lure it into spinning around in an attempt to follow the speedy bird. Although it became clear after a while he was certainly getting a bit dizzy from the movement, giving the opening Teru needed to attack. There was a quick collision as the lobster was sent skidding across the ground. Teru used Quick Attack!
Corphish sustained minor damage!
Corphish Fainted!Phew, that was finally over. Teru went to go check on Teru, who was a bit out of it, but nothing terrible. He picked up the Starly and put Teru on his shoulder, the bird settling down to take a bit of a rest. Words rang into Antreas's ears and he turned, seeing the woman had spoken to him. " Ah... Yes, although I'm alright." Antreas told her with a smile, giving a little hand motion to show he was a-okay! " Sorry about the disturbance... Hope it wasn't too bothersome..." He told the woman, giving a slight bow to apologize before righting himself. " I'm Antreas, and this is Teru." He introduced himself and his new companion. Also offering a hand if she was the short to shake like he had grown up knowing. Well, it was the gesture that could count, even if she wasn't the sort for physical contact anyway. MADE BY NOVA |

Shoulders relaxed with relief, the assurance that he hadn't been harmed having easily washed away her concern.[break][break] Her gaze dropped to the offered hand, her brief smile falling to a meek purse of her lips as her hand reached around from its place at her back, fingers moving to grip at the shake offered. Her hold was firm and confident despite her laid back demeanor, her attention fixed more on the action than what the gesture itself conveyed.[break][break] ❝ I'm — ❞ she began, her gaze lifting to glance over the trainer's eyes before shifting toward the little bird resting against his shoulder. Her placid expression brightened a bit at the sight of the pokémon. ❝ I'm Professor Palm, ❞ she announced, gently withdrawing her hand.[break][break] ❝ And. This is my friend. Chanchan. ❞[break][break] Chanchan didn't have time to wave, the young Chansey too occupied with searching her empty pouch frantically for her egg to notice the pair's exchange. It took her a second to glance up to check over her beach, eyes widening at the sight of its white shape bobbing along the ocean waves, the tide having drawn it out to sea.[break][break] Noelani watched after the pokémon in wonder, the Chansey stretching her tiny arms forward as her lips parted in worried dismay, little feet hauling her to waddle as quickly as she could toward the ocean. In her hurry she didn't notice the shell of the resting Clamperl, her foot coming down to land right on its head in a rather rude awakening from its rest.[break][break] Clamperl popped open, hairless brows knotting tight over its tightly shut eyes, its face turning left and right quickly as if to search out the source of its interruption. The sudden lift of its shell ended up sending the poor Chansey sailing toward the water, arms and feet kicking about wildly before she landed in the shallows with a splash.[break][break] With a fearful cry Chanchan hopped up, sprinting toward the shore. Noelani's eyes, after following Chanchan's course of flight, turned her eyes toward the wild pokémon, watching it flip around to ready a jet of water for her companion.[break][break] ❝ Watch out for Clamperl, Chanchan! ❞ her hand rose to cup at her mouth, her voice carrying over the rush of the waves to alert the Chansey of the incoming attack.[break][break] Clamperl used Water Gun![break]
Chanchan was hit for minor damage! [break] The spout of water bounced right off the Chansey's pillowy body, the pokémon stopping in her tracks to stare wide-eyed toward Clamperl.[break][break] ❝ Double edge will do it, ❞ the scientist called gently, raising her hand in a still wave to draw the pokemon's attention.[break][break] Chanchan gave a firm bout of quick, sharp nods, lips bent in a frown as she pouted disapprovingly toward Clamperl. ❝ Close the distance. ❞[break][break] Tucking herself forward, the Chansey rolled forward through the sand, digging a narrow path through the sand as she wheeled toward Clamperl in a mock rollout. The water type clamped its shell shut tight as it noticed its opponent quickly gaining speed, racing to steel its shell with a fresh coating of protective armor. The inexperienced Clamperl showed itself too slow as Chansey popped open from her ball to hop into the air and bring her body falling toward the pokémon in a foolhardy tackle.[break][break] Chanchan used Double Edge![break]

Clamperl Fainted! [break] Chanchan's head whipped around to face toward Noelani as soon as she'd pushed herself to her feet, leaving Clamperl's body tucked into a small crater in the sand. The trainer simply pointed her hand toward the water, redirecting the pokémon's attention to her lost egg.[break][break] Chanchan immediately resumed her panic. Because the night is young, the line is out the door. Today was crazy but, tonight the city is ours! A smile came from Antreas at the returned greeting. " Pleasure to meet you both." He told them, giving a nod. He glanced around, seeing a bit of a ruckus as the Chansey seemed somewhat distraught, and he learned why soon. It turned out her egg was gone and so it made sense she'd end up in a bit of a panic over that. Though at some point, a small battle had ensued and the Chansey took home an easy win in the situation. Unfortunately, the egg was still out in the water and the Chansey didn't seem that keen on taking a swim. " Stay here, just for a bit." He told Teru, placing the Starly down onto the sand and heading for the water, beginning to trudge in further and further. Yikes, the egg was going out. To make it quicker, he dove in and began to swim, bee lining for the egg that bobbed in the water. Just a bit more and he was able to get it, awkwardly swimming back into shore with the goods in one arm. When he could touch the sand he did so, standing and shuffling through the water and back toward the Chansey. " Here you are." He said, presenting the egg with a smile. His hair was soaked, dripping with water and looking pretty heavy. Though it wasn't as if his clothes were any different, yet he didn't mind. It was nothing major when it came to lending somebody a hand. Nearby a little Shellder had been disturbed by the whole scenario, but had made its way back into the water, quickly taking a retreat deeper into the ocean to get away. Antreas didn't pay much heed, letting the little shellfish make its way home. Besides, today was a beach day, Antreas need to beat down everything that moved. There was a mother's cry of joy and relief as the object was presented to the Chansey, the bashful pokémon's already pink skin burning a rosy red at her cheeks as she turned her face away to hide her embarrassment, holding her egg to her body and shifting her weight from one foot to the other in a restless, happy dance.[break][break] The trainer leaned a short ways forward as she held out the fluffy hibiscus patterned towel toward the kindly stranger, having managed to ease it from the tightly packed bag by the time his hands were free. She didn't have any words for the man, but her offer was clear.[break][break] A pair of faces popped up from the rolling surface of the waves, their eyes set toward the dinner the man had robbed them of. Chanchan's egg.[break][break] The Spheal was quicker to act than its partner, its chubby body ducking back under the water as it hurried to race to the shore, shooting out of the ocean with an abrupt shift of his rudder-like tail, landing against the beach in a spray of sand. By the time Noelani glanced up to see the cause of the cloud of sand, Spheal was already shooting a harsh spray of water to bowl Chanchan over.[break][break] Spheal used water gun![break]
Chanchan was hit for minor damage! [break] Her thick body took the hit without allowing for much damage, but the careful angle of the clever Spheal sent Chanchan tumbling back, her egg flying from her grip to sail up into the air. The Chansey rolled clumsily on her back before managing to regain her balance, the egg falling from the sky to land in the sand behind her. She turned quickly to run forward and collect the precious item, but Spheal seemed to be in just as much a hurry, an angry bark escaping its throat before it tucked itself into a ball to roll quickly forward, hoping to outroll its opponent.[break][break] Spheal used defense curl![break]
Spheal's defense rose! [break] The pokémon was gaining speed much faster than the helpless Chansey would be able to waddle to her destination.[break][break] ❝ Get ready for rollout. ❞[break][break]Chanchan dropped immediately, her body curling forward as she steeled herself for the attack. Spheal rocketed right on by, the drop in the temperature surrounding body causing the Chansey to shiver.[break][break] Chanchan used defense curl![break]

Spheal was hit for moderate damage! [break] Chanchan blazed forward across the beach, her body smacking hard into the Spheal to send it flying off course. Her form turned in a sharp angle to follow after the pokémon as it tumbled across the sand, the Spheal unrolling quickly from its curl to try and spit another spout of water toward the Chansey racing toward it.[break][break] Chanchan used rollout![break]

Spheal fainted! [break] As Spheal's body was sent flying into the air and soaring over the beach before it could even begin its water gun. Chanchan's rapid spinning cut another angle against the shore upon the Spheal's defeat, sand tearing up from under her quickly turning body to beeline directly for the egg still resting in the sand, eager to claim it back. She was so determined to reach her egg that she'd forgotten she'd need to slow down to get it, her body crashing for a direct hit against the object, sending it to fly just as the Spheal had.[break][break] The Chansey bounced up from the ground to pop open, her arms reaching toward the sky as if she'd somehow manage to catch the item. The egg was simply too far, leaving Chanchan to land face first in the sand.[break][break] Chanchan pushed herself from the beach, eyes falling closed as she was overwhelmed by her loss. She shifted to sit up on the ground, staring down at her empty pouch. There was a brief moment of sorrow before, in a sudden miracle, a new egg materialized in its place. The Chansey's frown turned upside down in an instant, her mouth forming into a happy smile as she clapped with glee.[break][break] ❝ It was very nice of you to help, ❞ the researcher piped up in a gentle voice, warm smile peeking slowly at the edges of the young woman's lips as she turned her eyes from Chanchan's battle to rest back on Antreas. Because the night is young, the line is out the door. Today was crazy but, tonight the city is ours! At the offer of a towel Antreas gave a grateful nod, accepting the offer and taking the towel. He mostly focused on his hair, trying to ruffle it a bit knowing it took forever to actually dry. He turned and watched the battle commence as the Chansey attempted to keep her egg safe from the Spheal that had attacked, but it didn't end up with the best results. Despite the Spheal going down, the egg was sent flying. Yet when a new one appeared out of nowhere and the Chansey seemed much happier, Antreas felt relieved for that. That was good. " Huh? Oh, welcome~" He said as he offered back the smile, his looking bright and cheery. Although it would seem the Spheal's defeat didn't go unnoticed when a Seel suddenly appeared to attempt helping its companion from the danger. Seeing Teru on the beach, he took the bird as an accomplice and thus decided Teru was fair game. Without warning, Teru was slammed with a Headbutt attack, causing the little bird to snap to and take flight. At noticing this, Antreas quickly called out to Teru. " Stay above, Teru, and use Agility." The little bird quickly increased speed with an Agility attack, beginning to fly around and keep an eye on the Seel, which had decided to use Growl, causing Teru's attack to become lowered a bit. " Alright, Aerial Ace!" At the call, Teru sped toward the Seel, slamming it with an Aerial Ace, causing it to reel back and give a few indignant barks. When Teru had closed to gap, the Seel had attempted another Headbutt, this time making a success and sending the Starly reeling a ways, barely recovering himself before after skidding across the sand. He was getting tired, meaning they had to finish the Seel soon here. " Agility, just one more time!" Antreas told Teru, who did as told and further boosted his speed. Seel decided to use Water Sport, attempting to soak the bird and take the ability to fly due to damp feathers, but Teru was too fast at this point to be hit with the water. " Another Aerial Ace." Teru did as told, this time with much more speed and force due to such, hit the Seel again directly. Both of them seemed rather tired now, so it would be the final move that decided it. " Alright, give it one last Aerial Ace!" The Starly nodded, and began to once again speed toward the Seel. In turn, Seel prepared for a Headbutt. The two Pokemon collided and it ended up with a tie, both the Seel and Teru now out cold in the sand. Antreas went over, picking the little Starly up and bundles him in his arms. He returned to the woman, offering her back the towel as well. " Thanks for that. Should make it easier to dry my hair." He mentioned with a light tone. Both Pokemon fainted!MADE BY NOVA |

AT THE SIGHT of the little bird falling unconscious Chanchan's jaw dropped, her happiness stolen away by the unfortunate turn of events. Noelani seemed less concerned by the team's accident, though her gaze did turn to check for any sign of serious harm to the once cheerful Teru.[break][break]
Chanchan bounced on her toes as the trainer stepped away to gather his fallen companion into his arms, plucking the egg from her pouch and holding it up toward him with an expression of worry as she begged her gift's acceptance. The nutritious egg might be just what Teru needed to perk up![break][break]
The hopeful scientist accepted the towel easily, working folding its large, pillowy mass into a neat square.[break][break]
❝ Would you like some help back to the pokémon center? ❞ the young woman questioned, hand gripping tight at the thickly folded towel as its opposite moved to ease open her already stuffed dufflebag. As she set the brightly colored fabric to lay inside the zipper, it was clear that it would be a fight to squeeze it back in. [break][break]
Hand pressed flat to the towel, the other gripping firm to the waterproofed canvas of her bag, she muscled the towel into place with all her might, gaze turned casually toward Antreas in her struggle. ❝ It's this way. ❞[break][break]
Her words, and her guidance along with them, proved unnecessary as she stepped forward, the city nestled alongside the island cliffs looming only a couple of steps south of the open stretch of beach.[break][break]
Her hand plunged suddenly into the depths of her bag as her efforts were met with success, Chanchan's eyes lighting up as she noted her trainer taking the lead. The round pokémon teetered after the woman, hopping and skipping to turn herself back around toward Antreas to offer an inviting wave, encouraging him to keep up. Her little brows puckered over her eyes with worry as she turned back toward the city suddenly, wobbling her way more quickly in the direction of the pokémon center. The Chansey didn't seem willing to wait for the leisurely steps of her trainer.
