the things that you might like don't grow inside of me It was a strange feeling, being in another region. For as long as he'd been alive Hoenn had been all that Ryusuke had known. That wasn't to say that he hadn't been aware of the fact that the world was far larger than his little corner of it - the tropical island region wasn't small by any means but he'd long since caught onto the fact that it was only part of a greater whole. Impossible to miss, really, living in a city like Minamo. Trainers, tourists, people of all backgrounds and lifestyles were a common sight there and for at least half the year made up a significant portion of the city's overall population. The Indigo regions - Johto and Kanto - were of particular note not only because of the sheer number of visitors that seemed to make their way to Hoenn but also because of far more personal ties to the place where Ryusuke himself was concerned. And yet... now that he was finally there? It really didn't feel all that different. A bit cooler, perhaps, but beyond that Ryusuke would've been hard pressed to tell the difference between this place and Route 121. The only immediately notable difference were the plants - aside from that it honestly felt like Verdanturf could've been just around the corner. The fact that the city they'd just come from, Asagi, was remarkably similar to Kaina hadn't helped matters at all. "They". Ryusuke hadn't come to Johto alone. While his black clothing and red coat stood out in stark contrast to the lush plant life around the path he was walking on the same couldn't be said of his partner wandering along maybe five or six meters ahead of the blond. If nothing else Treecko looked to be just as at home here as he had during their childhood excursions onto Route 121 in the past, although Ryusuke still wasn't entirely sure whether or not that was a good thing. While the Wood Gecko was quite capable of taking care of himself he'd also gotten both of them into trouble just as often as not, and it remained to be seen if that was going to be the case here. Sure, Treecko had grown a bit more cautious after the accident that took Ryusuke's arm and leg but he'd never really lost his smug attitude, either. "Hey! Not too far ahead, right? We get lost out here it's not like we just meet up again at the house." Ryusuke called out, although his voice lacked any sort of reprimand or bite to it - rather, it was just statement of fact, and probably one that Treecko didn't need to be reminded of. Something made quite apparent by the Wood Gecko's body langauge as he paused to glance back before giving the rough equivalent of a shrug and resuming his chosen path. Not, however, without notably slowing his pace. Hefting his bag, Ryusuke forced himself to relax a bit. While he had no idea exactly how far it was to the next city, town, settlement, whatever it was, they were on a fairly well worn path. So long as they kept following that they'd eventually reach either a Pokemon Center or someone who could point them in the right direction... and it wasn't like Ryusuke was a stranger to sleeping outdoors.

Roy Case's second sojourn from Kogane was not going as swimmingly as the first. His trip to Kikyo hadn't yielded any results in solving the city's power issue, and he'd had trouble finding the right people to train against. It seemed trainers like Mirai, Zatka and Sable were harder to come by these days. The few trainers he had met were repulsed by whatever it was Roy was doing to them. The gangster could think of no other explanation than the world had gone a bit crazy while he convened with the Coldbloods back home.
They still weren't quite warm on the idea of him as interim leader. He'd have to bolster his team before making any bold moves for power. So his investigation transformed into another training trip. When he returned this time, however, there'd be no discussion over who their leader would be. Roy wasn't going to let the Featherweights walk all over Kogane when he could do something about the matter.
So, Roy hoped to visit Asagi and check out the city's gym. He'd only ever watched the battles between leaders and their challengers. But, if he wanted to train up his team, then a healthy beatdown against some League member seemed a proper way to go about it. Along the quaint route, he only caught sight of one other trainer, a ways off in the distance. Something small and green scampered in front of the trainer, probably his pokémon. But, in the late morning sunlight something seemed to glean on the boy's body. Roy figured he must have been wearing quite a bit of jewelry.
He supposed it would be quite unlucky for a country bumpkin to run into Roy Case, criminal mastermind himself out on these roads with no witnesses, and perhaps lose a necklace or a ring. A smile spread across Roy's face and he quickened his pace, oblivious to any oncoming threat from outside his eye line.

the things that you might like don't grow inside of me This far out into the countryside and debatably within somewhat familiar territory it was all but impossible for either Treecko or Ryusuke to remain unaware of another trainer's presence. All the more so when they had nearly a full foot on you in terms of height. And, right off the bat, neither human nor Pokemon liked what was coming their way. Treecko was the first to come to an immediate stop as the new individual came into sight further along the path, and the Wood Gecko made no effort to hide the dislike from his face. It was an almost instinctive thing, not a feeling that the Pokemon could really explain but a sensation in his gut that he'd long since learned to trust as it usually meant avoiding a great deal of pain. Ryusuke, while just as quick on the uptake, made no outward sign of it by comparison... at least not until the other guy's face broke into a decidedly unpleasant smile and corrected his course to begin walking straight towards the shorter trainer. At that point the first thing Ryusuke did was immediately slow his own pace to buy himself a bit of time, an annoyed squint crossing over his face as he struggled to make out what detail he could from a distance. Was this guy a trainer? Probably, being this far out in the boonies. Friendly? That was entirely open for debate, and when given the choice Ryusuke would gladly trust Treecko's instincts over his own when it came to complete strangers. Better safe than sorry. Aside from the fact that the Wood Gecko seemed to take an immediate dislike to the guy, though, the blond wasn't getting much else from him. Very plain clothes, ones that hid his overall build well. His walk, though, never seemed to lose its balance - his center of mass was kept fairly constant, and that alone told Ryusuke a good deal that he didn't like. It'd been years since he'd been in any sort of physical fight or scuffle, and while muscle memory probably stuck Ryusuke had no immediate idea of how well the points anchoring his prosthetic limbs would hold up if tested. They could lift his own weight easily and quite a bit more than that in a controlled scenario, but this hardly qualified. Not like Treecko was going to be able to hold off multiple attackers on his own for long if the Wood Gecko's instincts were spot on. So..... what? "Treecko." Ryusuke said, voice low as he finally caught up to the Grass type and at which the Wood Gecko would jump up to catch the end of the blond's right sleeve, scrambling up to the trainer's shoulder but never taking his large yellow eyes off of the second human as he did so. "Can I help you? If it's directions you're looking for I can't really help you there." Ryusuke spoke again, voice raised loud enough for the other human to hear the second time around.

Roy Case didn't let up with his cheerful smile. "Directions? I believe I am right where I wanna be, friend," he extended a hand once he got as close as he could, "The name is Roy Case, I'm from Kogane."
The trainer's introduction was cut short from a pokémon falling from the sky. The strange violet pokémon looked like a scorpion with wings, and it soared about just a few feet overhead. Roy would need his own pretty bird for this encounter. "Skarmory, scrap!" The metal bird came forth in a flash of light, already beating her wings to stay aloft. Showing off his strength to the short stranger wouldn't hurt their first impressions, but Roy wouldn't want to intimidate the guy with one of his powerhouses. Skarmory struck the right balance.
The gligar swooped towards Roy's partner with a shining violet claw, streaking across the blue sky and bouncing off of Skarmory's beating wing. The attack landed alright, but it seemed to have hardly any effect on Skarmory. Maybe even this pokémon was too strong for this encounter. "Peck back!" Roy ordered, and his partner took advantage of her opponent's momentary confusion to drill her beak into the gligar. He fell to the ground and Skarmory knew to follow up before Roy made another order. She was a cheeky girl, often getting ahead of herself in fights. "Assurance! Keep it on the ground!"
Frightened and reactive, the gligar swung a wind over the route, carry a wave of dust that caught the skarmory in the face. However, even the Sand-Attack seemed terribly ineffective against Roy's partner. Roy had this experience once before, when Arti was fighting against electric types. His pokémon was in some sort of zone that made her completely invincible to enemy tactics. Roy wouldn't relinquish the moment. Skarmory's Assurance landed cleanly, further burying the gligar into the ground. Flying back into the air, he attempted another Poison Sting, but the move yielded no results, and defeat seemed to wash over the pokémon before Roy cemented it.
"Peck! Put it out of its misery, Skarmory!" The bird won her dogfight with a conclusive thrust of her beak, knocking the gligar unconscious. She laughed derisively at the fallen opponent, and the sound came out like sharp tin scraping against itself. Roy, if he saw the stranger fighting in his own battle, would ask, "You doing alright for yourself, buddy?"

the things that you might like don't grow inside of me Exactly what Ryusuke had been planning to do as the other trainer approached he wasn't entirely sure, but that wasn't to say the blond didn't remain on guard as they closed to within punching distance. At the very least, though, the shorter trainer was making an effort to keep it less than completely obvious - unlike the little green knot of muscle currently clinging to his shoulder the most his stance and expression betrayed was mild annoyance and distrust as the stranger replied back and extended a hand in greeting. A common enough courtesy, but at the same time it was one that reminded Ryusuke of how it'd come to be in the first place - the idea being that by extended a hand to be shook you were proving that there wasn't a weapon being held by it. That aside, though, there were other, more personal reasons the blond was initially hesitant to return the gesture. His hands were gloved for a reason since people had all sorts of reactions (not all of them friendly or comforting) to prosthetic limbs in the place of the original flesh and blood ones, and glove or not it was the kind of thing you noticed when you took hold of the limb in question. At the same time, though, pissing off someone who was likely to have more if not outright stronger Pokemon probably wasn't the best of ideas right now. "Ryusuke. Minamo, Hoenn." Ryusuke responded, gingerly reaching out with his right arm to take hold of the offered hand. There was no way to know how Roy would react to the texture beneath the glove, but the appearance of yet another newcomer - this one decidedly not human - rather abruptly interrupted the exchange of greetings between the two trainers. While the Pokemon itself wasn't exactly common within Hoenn as a region Ryusuke had encountered at least a couple of them in the last year, enough to immediately recall what it was and what it could do. Not that it was exactly hard - Gligar were rather distinct in appearance as well as typing, and what Ryusuke could remember of them told him that it was not a good match up for Treecko. That was assuming it was even there to fight in the first place, but the taller trainer didn't exactly leave it much choice as he pulled a ball out and immediately released his Skarmory upon the much smaller Pokemon. Well, if nothing else that action alone told Ryusuke a great deal about who he was dealing with. As the blond began to step back to allow a bit more room for the battle to continue, though, another sound behind him would cause the trainer to halt in his tracks, Treecko pivoting on his shoulder before jumping down and placing the Wood Gecko between his partner and the additional perceived threat. Turning around, Ryusuke was able to immediately spot the source as the purple rodent stood out in stark contrast to the vegetation around them, fur on end and gaze shifting between the Gligar, Skarmory and then the two humans. To say that it wasn't the best impression was something of an understatement, although the Rattata's focus on the Gligar seemed to imply that the two were together in some sense of the word - and seeing her friend attacked had put the rodent on edge. "Hey, hold on a se-"Despite it being an attempt to defuse the situation the act of speaking directly to the Rattata was evidently the wrong decision to make as the Pokemon lunged forward using Quick Attack, apparently aiming for one of Ryusuke's legs. "Apparently" being the operative word, however, as Treecko used the exact same move himself to intercept the Normal type halfway through the lunge with his own Quick Attack, foot planting itself on Rattata's head and the Wood Gecko's body weight serving both to halt her forward momentum and redirect it into a rather painful faceplant instead. The added bonus being that where the foot was made fighting back a difficult proposition at best - face to the ground and with the adhesive pads of Treecko's foot glued to her face the rodent wasn't exactly able to build momentum again or reach the Grass type. First rule Ryusuke had learned in the dojo as a kid, and evidently one that Treecko had picked up as well - if you controlled the opponent's head you generally controlled the rest of their actions as well. Granted, that didn't stop the Rattata from trying as the pinned Pokemon attempted to get up and throw Treecko off balance, tail lashing forward in an attempt to beat him off of her with Tail Whip. Not good - Rattata didn't hit particularly hard but Treecko as a species weren't built all that tough, either, and with lowered defenses the slightly faster Pokemon stood a decent chance of doing a fair amount of damage given the opportunity. Ryusuke hadn't exactly wanted this fight but it was beginning to boil down to being a matter of self defense with the Rattata apparently beyond reasoning with. If they were going to end this it needed to be quick. "Giga Drain!" Ryusuke called out. It was only two words, but it was all that needed to be said - Treecko was typically smart enough to battle on his own with minimal input while Ryusuke served as a second pair of eyes and ears watching his blind spots, but there were times when he needed to know certain things. In this case, not to hold back. The opening move had been a defensive one intended to impede rather than actually cause any degree of harm but allowing the Rattata to continue fighting back wasn't the smartest move. Still focused on the Pokemon in question, though, the order didn't go unheard as Treecko lurched forward to use the Normal type's face as a stepping point again, momentarily pinning her face to the ground as the Wood Gecko climbed atop her back and clung with all four limbs - and as he did so the Grass type would use Giga Drain. Not the weakest of Grass type moves by far, and the Rattata definitely felt her strength start to leave the moment the attack was used. Enough to cause the Pokemon to begin panicking, but by that point it was too late. Treecko was in a position that he couldn't be easily hit from, and even as Rattata began rolling and squirming to try and dislodge her attacker any damage that could've possibly been done was healed almost immediately by another use of Giga Drain sapping her strength. A third time was all it took to knock the rodent unconscious, the Rattata falling limp with Treecko now underneath her after the struggle. "You alright?" Ryusuke said after a few more seconds of stillness, to which the Wood Gecko's immediate reply was an arm raising straight up in the air, mimicking a thumbs up. Enough to tell Ryusuke that it was safe enough to approach as Treecko began shoving off the unconscious Pokemon, the blond crossing the short distance quickly enough to reach down with his right hand and simply pick up the Rattata in question. Dusting himself off as he stood up, the Wood Gecko's attention shifted almost immediately from Ryusuke to the other pair behind them, still locked in battle but seeming to near the end of it as the Gligar made mistake after mistake. If Treecko had been poorly matched against Gligar the same was just as true for Skarmory - it was impossible to be sure if she had Sturdy or Keen Eye for an ability but the ineffective Sand Attack seemed to imply the latter, and trying to use Poison Sting on a Steel type was an exercise in futility. Getting back up to his feet Ryusuke would make a point to gently place Rattata off to the side of the path, far enough into the brush that she was unlikely to be found until she was conscious again. "We're fine. I'm guessing she's new?" Ryusuke replied, trudging back out of the bushes as the other trainer called out to him - the blond's comment relating to the Skarmory in question as he nodded to the bird. They weren't uncommon to Hoenn or Johto, but Ryusuke had a bit of a leg up over most people when it came to evaluating them. His mother had all but specialized almost exclusively in Steel types, and while Skarmory hadn't been her primary means of getting around that wasn't to say she hadn't made heavy use of one, either. Peck, though, wasn't exactly one of their best moves, but by that same token Assurance wasn't one that they naturally learned on their own, either. "Why pick a fight, though? Can't be sure why the Gligar was here but it was hardly a threat with a Skarmory in your pocket. I don't think Treecko would've had to fight the Rattata at all if they'd just passed by." Ryusuke continued, his attention now on the second unconscious Pokemon that had been left rather unceremoniously in the dirt path.

Post by ROY CASE on Jun 28, 2018 2:18:47 GMT -5
Roy Case hadn't felt anything unusual under this Ryusuke's glove. He was just struck by what a firm grip he had. He was a bit baffled by the boy's question though. His brow furrowed into confusion while he pet down the steel exterior of Skarmory. He answered the easier query first. "She's a little green, but I think we've got some common interests," he admitted. The pokémon was clawing at the ground and craning her neck, struggling to get a good look at the small green pokémon adorning Ryusuke.
"But, listen, tourist. If you don't wanna fight that's pechas by me. My protection fee is mighty competitive," he joked. The skarmory walked a step or so away to strafe around the treecko, her attitude was naturally antagonistic, and Roy figured he'd let it play out. "For the record, I don't pick fights," he stole this next lesson from an old Coldblood Crewmember, "I just win them." That crewmember hadn't lasted long, but the quote stuck like gum.
Another pair of pokémon were skirting the edge of the brush, clearly visible to Roy. "Skarmory, scrap!" His alliterative command took hold of his partner's attention, and the pretty bird took battle position in front of her trainer. "And I win fights to train, to get stronger. I'm on a mission to lead a District out of the Dark, tourist." His attention turned back towards his pokémon. "Dealer's choice, Skarmory! The horns or the tongue?"
Skarmory sprinted across the ground before taking off into the sky and diving back down, savagely Pecking the lickitung, who was originally oblivious to any threat at all. The tauros was enraged his companion had been attacked, and seemed ready to charge the two humans he expected to be culpable in the attack. The lickitung instead tried to protect himself, using Defense Curl to protect himself from whatever the skarmory would do next. "Use that new move! Metal Claw, Skarmory!" The bird got excited at that command, but was wary of her foe's defensive stance. She flew from perch to perch, continously moving about the pink pokémon before selecting her target and sinking her steel talons into his soft flesh.
The lickitung bravely broke from his Defense Curl to respond to the attack, swinging his long tongue across the skarmory's body. The attack landed, and Skarmory was thrown from her attacking position. Clearly, her moment of invincibility had ended with that last encounter. "Handling yourself alright over there?" he'd ask to Ryusuke, not paying very close attention to his activities. "Metal Claw again!" he commanded with glee, confident it would be the last attack of the fight. But, surprisingly, Skarmory seemed momentarily immobilized unable to respond at all. Her hesitation meant another Lick attack, which sent her to the earth again. "Cmon, pretty bird, how about Peck?!"
Breaking from the paralysis for a moment, Skarmory was just able to lunge forth and plunge her beak into the lickitung, defeating him and ending the battle inside of the forest. "Well that's why we need to train I suppose..." Roy would complain before recalling his partner. After Ryusuke finishes his encounter, Roy would move forward with his own questions. He'd mostly forgotten about the shiny stuff he'd stopped the boy for. "So now that you know I'm trying to play hero, why might you be out here, tourist?"

the things that you might like don't grow inside of me Ryusuke may have disliked most strangers by default - truthfully speaking he felt very little goodwill towards most when it really came down to it - but the words spoken by Roy did at least touch on some common ground as the blond glanced back to the Skarmory behind him. His mother had always advocated a..... unique way of not just training but living alongside Pokemon, and while Ryusuke understood that most didn't take as readily to it as he had after being practically raised alongside Treecko he had a hard time viewing most trainers in a positive light. Too many of them were focused on little more than winning, and the vast majority of them were frankly just talk until their own safety was on the line. "Always be willing to do what you ask of them". "Never have them fight if you're ready to run". While it was far too early to tell much of anything here, though, the common ground that Roy spoke of was a concept far more familiar to Ryusuke than he would readily to a stranger. The next words spoken, though, put something of a sour note on the initial exchange as what Ryusuke saw as little more than a display of machismo and chest puffing was injected into the conversation along with the appearance of another pair of wild Pokemon, albeit far more dangerous ones. In hindsight, stopping to converse on a path that was likely claimed by a few wild Pokemon as their territory might not have been the best idea. While Ryusuke was not at all familiar with the one that Roy decided to sic his Skarmory on the remaining Pokemon was one that Ryusuke knew quite well from his mother's years spent working at the Safari Zone, and it wasn't one he was particularly interested in fighting if it could be avoided. It wasn't the same situation that Treecko had faced with the Rattata a minute or two before - while they might have been similarly matched for combat experience and move strength, fact was that the Tauros was significantly bigger by comparison. Weight class meant a great deal when your goal was to stop something in its tracks, and while Treecko probably would be able to win a one on one fight Ryusuke wasn't all that fond of his odds if it came to preventing the Tauros from successfully charging him. If nothing else that thought seemed to be very much on the Pokemon's mind as the other Normal type was attacked, head lowering in a threat display and hooves stamping the ground. "Eeaasy, now." Ryusuke started, turning to face the bigger perceived threat and hands coming up in a calming gesture as the blond sidestepped, distancing himself from Roy and his Skarmory - at this point they'd dragged themselves into this mess, and if the Tauros wanted a target Ryusuke wasn't going to be it if he could help it. Treecko seemed equally leery about the idea of engaging the Tauros one on one, and unlike the last fight the Grass type had made no immediate move to jump down from Ryusuke's shoulder again. Annoyingly enough, it was also at that moment that Roy called over again. "Great." Ryusuke responded, voice practically dripping with sarcasm - in all likelihood it was the simple fact that he never once took his gaze off of the Tauros that prevented it from charging. While such a moment of weakness might have been a suitable trigger, though, the sight of the Skarmory suddenly being on the receiving end of a beating was plenty opportunity in his eyes, and a fight that could be won as the larger Pokemon suddenly bellowed and charged. "Damn!"While it wasn't the most eloquent of responses it felt like an apt one as Ryusuke lunged off of the side in a leaping dive towards the bushes, presumably decent cover that would at least obscure him from sight. As he did so Treecko would likewise do the same, leaping off of Ryusuke's shoulder and into the dense green undergrowth as the Tauros charged off the path and after them. It only only by sheer luck that his hooves narrowly missed Ryusuke, the teen freezing as he was nearly stepped on in the brief moment before the immediate physical danger passed. Nor did he make any attempt to stand up afterwards - the last thing Ryusuke wanted to do was offer the Pokemon another shot at his intended target, and as Ryusuke lay prone and still he could easily hear the Tauros come to a halt and continue stamping in place, clearly irritated by lack of a clear target. Turning around, the Pokemon was beginning to make his way back towards where he'd last seen the blond dive into the bushes when a small green mass shot out of the weeds and stuck fast to the bull's face, the Wood Gecko's legs spread angled across it and both hands slapping down on the larger Pokemon's open eyes. The force of the blow aside, it was enough to both blind and further enrage the wild Pokemon even before Treecko hit him with Giga Drain. Bellowing out again, Tauros had little options available to him beyond blind - literally - rage and panic as the rather sharp pain of something in both eyes caused him to rear back, barely keeping his balance as Treecko proceeded to do what he'd done with the last fight. Giga Drain, apparently, was the order of the day, and without hands or another way of easily reaching his face the Tauros wasn't able to do much in the way of dislodging the pest sapping his strength. It wasn't until the bull began to blindly run and struggle that Treecko finally released his hold on his larger opponent... just in time to avoid being crushed between Tauros's head and the nearby tree it slammed into, hard enough to crack the trunk and knock the bull out cold. Dropping back into the weeds, Treecko remained still for a moment as he listened for further movement from his most recent opponent, and it wasn't until another few seconds had passed that the Wood Gecko called out a familiar note that Ryusuke knew to take as the "all clear". "Too close." Ryusuke muttered, finally pushing himself up off the ground to emerge from the bushes and making his way over to where Treecko's voice had come from. Definitely a point to consider for the future. As good a fighter as Treecko might've been there were a number of things he simply could not do because of his size, and obtaining a larger Pokemon at some point might be a good idea. "'Hero' my ass." Ryusuke said again, albeit under his breath as Roy called out once again, apparently finished with the fight he'd started. All the same, however, the blond's displeasure was clearly written across his face as Treecko returned to his shoulder and Ryusuke himself looked back to Roy, the older trainer having approached them again. "Why does anyone become a trainer?" The blond said, wading through the bushes and back onto the path behind Roy. Probably not the smartest of retorts nor the polite route, but that was frankly none of Roy's business. Ryusuke didn't feel even remotely beholden to the guy - especially after this last encounter just now - nor did he feel like sharing private family or medical history. "Look, only reason I'm out here at all is because Asagi was the biggest port in Johto and the road goes to Enju. Nothing fancy, that's it." The blond continued, dusting himself off and taking a moment to figure out which direction he'd come from in the first place.

Post by ROY CASE on Jun 29, 2018 23:05:06 GMT -5
Roy Case nodded at the explanation, pursing his lips. "I've been to Enju before. Not as many ghosts as you might think," he noted, contemplating for a moment. "Yes... I suppose I could head out that way." One of the other Coldblood Crew members talked about investigating other towns to inspect their power situations, and find out if they were similar to Kogane's. Asagi could wait. "I'd be more than happy to lead the charge!" Roy liked the way the guy fought. It reminded him of a gym leader from the generation past. He was quiet and no nonsense. He wanted to keep an eye on Ryusuke, make sure there'd be no lack of battling with him.
"Though I guess I would be curious as to why you're headed there. Between you and me, the mountain... Syracuse or whatever it's called is a little disappointing too."
Roy had already begun reversing his direction when more pokémon arrived to defend their territory. "Cripes, how lucky can one guy get?!" A small bear pokémon approached like a warrior, valiantly guarding her homestead. Roy was happy he'd get another fight. Ryusuke still seemed a little green to be much of a challenge. "Panchax, pummel!" Roy's resident prankster, his marshtomp appeared in a flash of light, separating the trainer from the wild pokémon. Roy's partner for the battle was immediately disappointed at the lack of water around them. Roy moved to change that. "Water Gun, Panchax! Your target is the bear!"
Panchax hesitated in acting on the command, instead goading the teddiursa into attacking. She did just that, savagely landing a series of Fury Swipes that scratched up Panchax before he backed away from the attack. "C'mon, boy! Hit him hard!" but Panchax mostly ignored the command, instead aiming his Water Gun at the earth beneath the teddiursa's feet, drenching the ground and turning it into a soggy, muddy mess beneath the pokémon's paws. She was slow to move as a result, but charged to attempt more Fury Swipes, but Panchax didn't seem to anxious to be caught by that attack again.
Roy's Marshtomp sidestepped his opponent, instead diving into the mud and playing about in the small swamp he'd created for himself. "You lazy joker!" Roy accused, "Don't be disrespectful!" he scolded. The Panchax was surprised by that sentiment, halting her play for a moment. "It's all well and good you're trying to enjoy herself, but she's defending her home! Can't you respect that, boy?" Panchax stood up from his mini marsh and put on a more serious expression, swayed by his trainer's commands. "Mud Shot!" Roy commanded and Panchax responded, using his newly created environment to blow the teddiursa away in a single move. When he got serious, it seemed Panchax packed some punch.
"That's the way, partner," the gangster complimented. "Let's hit it! To Enju!" he yelled, mostly now to Panchax, who cried in delight and walked alongside his trainer. Roy could only hope Ryusuke would be compliant with the arrangement.

the things that you might like don't grow inside of me That.... wasn't the conclusion Ryusuke was hoping the other guy would reach. The particular reasoning for that had nothing to do with the guy or the shorter trainer's impressions of him in the least, though. As a rule Ryusuke tended to prefer the company of Pokemon over people for a great many reasons, although the first and foremost was that they didn't tend to talk unless they needed to. He wasn't generally the type of person to start a conversation unless something something needed to be said, and the problem with most people was that they were more than happy to talk just for the sake of making noise, or at least so it seemed. "Wouldn't know anything about that, there weren't any plans for Enju itself nevermind after I got there." Ryusuke replied, mentally shrugging off the comment about the nearby mountain as he made his way back onto the path, Treecko once again on his shoulder. Admittedly one of the other reasons he needed some time alone with Treecko as they needed to figure out what they were even doing in the region. There'd been a few reasons for the pair to travel there but there was no real goal or objective, and not much thought had really been put into what would come next once they were actually there. If the last few minutes were any indication of the potential trip ahead it was highly unlikely either of them would get much chance for thought, especially as another pair of Pokemon arrived with the intent to investigate the sounds caused by the last few fights. While Ryusuke wasn't all that familiar with the first Pokemon and the one that Roy chose to take on with his Marshtomp, the second Pokemon was another story entirely. Small, pink and huddled up a short distance behind the first Normal type was a Whismur of all things, and quite possibly the last Pokemon that Ryusuke would've expected to encounter this far from home. As far as he was aware they were supposedly more or less exclusive to Hoenn as a natively occurring species, and more to the point they tended to favor caves and other dark places until they evolved and could defend themselves. What one was doing out in an open field like this Ryusuke hadn't a clue, but aside from being an outright unusual sight the fact that it was effectively a piece of home struck something of a chord in the blond. The other fights had been self defense and while Roy and his Marshtomp could handle the other Pokemon just fine... this was going to be a bit different. "Treecko, up for a capture instead?" Ryusuke said, eyes locked on the other Pokemon and a fact it seemed to only just then become aware of as it turned to look at him - and, reacting accordingly, turned again with the intent to run. Kicking off into a dash himself Ryusuke ran in a wide arc around the other battle as it was happening, closing enough distance to give Treecko a good head start as the Wood Gecko once again leapt from his shoulder. On hitting the ground, however, the Grass type would suddenly outspeed both the blond and his opponent as he surged forward in a blur of movement, Quick Attack instantly closing the gap as Treecko started the fight off dirty with a yank to Whismur's rear leg which caused it to faceplant in the middle of it's attempt to flee. Unlike the other Pokemon, Whismur was a known quantity, and frankly one that Treecko had plenty of experience fighting in the past. Enough that he knew to immediately leap back again as the air visibly distorted around the Whismur as it wailed in response, a use of either Echoed Voice or Uproar. Hard to tell, but there was a reason Treecko had done what he did - face first in the ground, the sound was muffled and had neither the range nor power it would've had in ideal conditions. The trick now was going to be to keep hitting her before she could recover and get another attack off. Dashing off towards his opponent again, Whismur nearly ended that chain as she suddenly pushed off from the ground and attempted to lunge at Treecko with Astonish. A move that would have worked had it not been for a last second use of Detect, the Wood Gecko's eyes carefully tracking his opponent as he neatly sidestepped the lunge and began moving past Whismur only for that motion to carry his fist into a simple punch aimed for the center of the Normal type's chest. No fancy or powerful moves, but a simple strike picked up from watching Ryusuke's own days at the dojo as a child. Lessons, however, that the Whismur in question could not have possibly benefited from. As the gut punch struck the Pokemon without warning the wind was suddenly knocked from her chest, and whatever counter the Normal type had been thinking of was replaced by a burning need to breath. Not even close to done with his opponent Treecko was ruthless in exploiting the opening, continuing to step forward with the arm that had been used to punch Whismur now pressing her back as the matching leg hooked behind his opponent's - the second move bearing an immediate result within the same second as the first as Whismur was suddenly thrown onto her back, worsening the breathing problem and stunning her in the process as Giga Drain was applied just in case she managed to recover. All in all the series of moves had taken a grand total of maybe two seconds from the point Detect had been used, and while Ryusuke had known what to expect he still had trouble following exactly what the Wood Gecko had done. "Right, that's enough!" Ryusuke called out, coming to a stop a handful of feet away and reaching into his bag. Treecko, glancing up at the sound, would quickly step back as the blond spoke and just in time for the thrown Pokeball to land on Whismur, snapping open and sucking the stunned Pokemon inside.
