The pair had been scouring the route since late the previous evening. The sun had long since risen to drive off their usual cover of night, the twilight cool having given way to the warmth of a summer sun, the fresh scent of dew replaced with the sweetness of growing grass and the open faces of sun hungry flowers. Preoccupied, the grunt was too busy to notice, the black tint of her visor keeping the strength of the sun's rays from her eyes as she stared down at the collection of data displayed on her phone, steps of her leather boots following along after the busy nose of Sirius.[break][break]

The newly evolved Houndoom was hard at work in an ᴏᴅᴏʀ sʟᴇᴜᴛʜ, nose picking through the scents in the grass to decipher the nearest pokemon. Her muzzle twitched when a new scent found its way to her nostrils, leather nose picking up toward the sky to test the wind.[break][break]

Cutting through the grove of trees, Sirius' paws guided her to stalk through the grass, her lips drawing back irritably as her spaded tail rose with aggression behind her. Hunched toward the ground, fur bristled to threatening spikes, her form was near invisible in through the thickly grown blades, leaving the rustle of grass the only thing to reveal her presence.[break][break]

Ten broke the treeline just as her pokemon stepped out of the grass, the Houndoom's gaze piercing straight through the Totodile to stare intently toward the space behind it, decidedly ignorant of both the water type, and its trainer's presence. Sirius soldiered forward, a warning growl graveled in her throat. If she had to shoulder her way between the two to continue onward, she'd do so without an ounce of hesitation or regret.[break][break]

''Excuse us.''

[break][break]The trainer's voice was muffled by the protective material of the helmet disguising her face, the gear's visor still glued to the glow of her phone.

Hibiki's love would reveal to be one-sided as Sirius lashed her tail to one side violently at the sound of his voice, the spike of her hackles raised high even after achieving her victory. The red of her eyes read a thirst for battle, and the lips drawn back to expose the dangerous hooks of her teeth appeared to be at the ready to tear into her next opponent.[break][break]

The face of Ten's helmet turned toward the pair of birds as the young trainer nodded toward them, her gaze dropping to check the screen of her phone as her finger dragged itself slowly across its surface, flicking through data. There was only a brief paused before her finger sped sharply across the screen, her thumb blazing to tap to the displayed keyboard to quickly make record of her search.[break][break]

''Another feint.''[break][break]

The command sounded dull against the helmet's sturdy material, but the Houndoom's sharp ears had no trouble making it out. With Doduo occupied the murderous hound turned slowly to lock its spiteful stare to the young Pidgey, the little bird having hopped away in a flutter of wings to avoid the Doduo and Totodile's battle.[break][break]

Its head turned sharply at the sound of the dog's paws falling heavy to the ground, the spade-tailed fire type already racing to land its attack. Pidgey panicked, eyes opening wide as it hopped up from the ground, wings beating frantically to jolt it up into the air before the attack could hit - leaving Houndoom to come to a sudden halt in her attack, paws planting themselves where the Pidgey once stood.[break][break]

The distinct quiet as opposed to the blunt sound of contact brought Ten's gaze up from her phone, her eyes turning toward Sirius before lifting up to the young Pidgey quick enough to have put an impassible distance between itself and her pokémon.[break][break]

''Try inferno.''

Her words were casual as her hand dropped for one of the pokéballs clipped to the belt at her hip, Sirius' jaws parting at her master's command to send a pillar of swirling flame toward the bird hovering in the sky. The flying type hurried to dip down below the ɪɴғᴇʀɴᴏ, just barely brushing by their heat and singing the feathers of its wings in the process as the small red and white capsule in Ten's hand swelled larger, her fingers turning its center to face beside her as she released the Skarmory inside in a sudden burst of blinding white light.[break][break]

Pidgey darted in sharply toward the ground, ignoring the possible new opponent as it pulled its wings in toward its body to gain speed, shooting like a bullet through the air before drawing its wings wide to stop its descent near the ground. Sirius' teeth parted wide once again, the black smog gathered in her mouth lighting red hot with fire before being shot in another blazing column of flame, devouring the dust kicked up by Pidgey's hurried sᴀɴᴅ ᴀᴛᴛᴀᴄᴋ to swallow it in a flaming torrent of ɪɴғᴇʀɴᴏ.[break][break]

The blackened bird hit the ground before the flames could unravel themselves in the air, the tight pull of Sirius' tongue curling it back to her throat giving a deep, graveled tone to her growl as she glared down at the pokémon with scorn.[break][break]

''What type are you looking for?''[break][break]

The inquiry came with a curious quirk in her tone as she turned her attention back to her phone with Pidgey's defeat, the Skarmory now standing at her side turning his sharp metal beak toward Totodile. The armored bird sized the pokémon up briefly before locking eyes on its trainer, watching intently to gauge his actions as Ten holstered the steel type's pokeball back at her belt.
