He’d left a message for the Breeder he’d agreed to help out when it came to searching for some ‘mons for the other to meet him at this location. He’d decided to stick somewhere close to the Ranch where Leon was working, so the other didn’t have to go too far from the place just in case some emergency came down—and waited for the other to show up. While waiting for the other to arrive, he spotted a rock and decided to take a rest, leaning on it and digging through his coat and fishing out a pipe. Now, this pipe was special to him in more ways than one—it was the last thing he’d owned that formerly belonged to his father, wherever the older man had decided to go off to. Sighing, he then dug around for a small pouch and found what he needed. Several minutes later, he’d lit the pipe and took a deep breath from it, before releasing the could in a slow, long sigh. He’d turned to the pipe not too long after his father had left; and while it was hard to use at first, he’d eventually gotten used to the thing. There were times he preferred this to the cigarettes that were much more commonplace—although getting the right kind of leaves for the pipe was a bit of a pain in the ass to get at times. Where is he? He thought, looking up and down the path. The ranch he works at shouldn’t be too far from here… he continued to himself as he took another deep breath and exhaled another cloud of smoke skywards. MADE BY ★MEULK |

Alright so maybe Lars had texted him longer than two hours ago, was it really his fault he’d gotten roped into work for two hours? He had tried had to send Lars a few texts but he’d been inside the building and they wouldn’t send. Stupid Leon hadn’t asked the trainer for his email just in case. No, instead, he was stuck trying to send the damn message in a metal building. It didn’t work. And the second he’d gotten service he’d been busy trying to get to Lars as quickly as possible to send him a message. Leon could smell his pipe before he even saw the trainer. A small smile formed, because he honestly enjoyed the way the pipe smelled…. oh, how strange that was for a guy who liked the smell of vanilla and cookies over smoke any day. But somehow, maybe the leaves used, it didn’t smell terrible. He supposed it was probably, most definitely, the leaves used. “ Do you get those leaves novelty,” Leon asked while making his way around the rock and peeking around Lars to see his face. Once he caught eye contact, he raised a pointed brow. “ Or… does a pipe really just smell better?” He’d heard rumors. As he made his way around in front of Lars, he was sure to put his hands on his hips. He might have looked like a dainty little girl, but that was Leon for you. Oh, aside from the fact that he was covered from head to toe in dirt. He didn’t smell, he just looked dirty. “I do,” he began the moment he heard the sound of the other male’s voice—although the moment he saw Leon, he couldn’t help but raise an eyebrow in curiosity. He then realized that something may have come up, which caused Leon’s delay pending his arrival—by the way the other was covered from head to toe in dirt. “Ranch busy at the moment?” he inquired, resisting the urge to grin. “Are you sure you don’t need an extra pair of—” he was about to say when two blurs cut him off—one barrel-rolling into their path; the other hot on its heels. “Wait. Hold that thought,” he continued, interrupting himself as the second blur unfurled itself into a Zangoose. Oh, these buggers… he thought to himself, eyebrows going up slightly. “I’ll take care of the Zangoose, you go for the other one!” he added a few moments later, quickly sending out his Marshtomp to face the other. Why didn’t he bring his Riolu along for this? He knew that Suijin was itching for a stomping and decided to give it to the Marshtomp. Once the Pokémon emerged from the flash of red light, he tilted his head at it. “Hey Sui, look. Something from home. Let’s drive it back as quickly as possible, hm?” he began, before the Marshtomp began to flex and charged forward, launching a Whirlpool attack and attempting to trap the Zangoose early. The Normal-type hadn’t even attempted to attack the other, instead choosing to Leer at the dual-type headed its way. While the vortex of water had connected and trapped the Zangoose, the Marshtomp was still taken by surprise at the hideous moue that the Normal-type had flung in its direction. “Sui, don’t get deterred by that! Catch it off-guard before it attacks!” he continued, as the Zangoose then showed its claws at the Marshtomp in a threatening manner. This caused Lars’ eyebrows to go up for a moment, before realizing that it had used Hone Claws—as the vortex of water grew in power and continued to trap the Normal-type within it. The Zangoose just waited patiently, not deterred by the Whirlpool surrounding it, and once the vortex of water had collapsed, it lunged forward in a Quick Attack, catching the Marshtomp by surprise. “Careful on that!” he called out, hearing a surprised cry from the Marshtomp as the Zangoose’s attack connected on the dual-type. Without thinking, the dual-type then called forth a cascade of rocks, attempting to catch the Normal-type in a Rock Slide. Despite the rocks raining down around him, the Zangoose continued to attack through the avalanche, managing to get close and deliver a Scratch attack. “Don’t get intimidated by it! You’re just like your father, scared shitless the first time he saw a Zangoose! Do you want to go down in history like he did…” he added a few moments later, realizing something that he could use to his advantage right then and there. “Keep going!”The Marshtomp then slapped its fins together, before quickly launching a powerful blast of water, catching the Zangoose head-on in the face as it charged forward for another Quick Attack. The Hydro Pump attack had drenched the Normal-type from head to toe and had served to make the other only even angrier. Yikes. “Drive it back! Keep it away from here!” he went on a few moments later. The Marshtomp then seemingly clapped both its hand-fins together, before Lars understood what he was about to do—quickly bracing himself for the impact. “Might want to steady yourself over there, Leon!” he called out as the Marshtomp then let loose with a sudden Earthquake attack—the entire nearby area trembling and shaking due to the force of the attack. “Whoa!” he yelped, almost losing his balance as the Marshtomp then launched off another Hydro Pump attack, catching the already-surprised Zangoose off its guard even more. The second blast of water (accompanied by the shaking ground) then sent the Normal-type back down the path—but hell it wasn’t going down! It stood up one more time, before charging in a last-ditch attempt at a Quick Attack but was met with another Hydro Pump right in the face before falling down for real. “Huh. Persistent…” he muttered, fishing out a blank containment unit and tossing the Pokéball at the Zangoose, watching as it was swallowed up in a flash of red light and fell to the ground… MADE BY ★MEULK |

Hearing the rolling had Leon flashing back to the cave with a small ginger miss. He tossed the Pokéball holding Taft out into the air, watching as Taft came out perfectly far away from the rolling Phanpy. Taft on the other hand had a small panic attack because of the noise and immediately stiffened, moving closer to Leon before seeing that there was another battle going on. Oh, he shouldn’t have napped in the ball. But it was always so warm and comfortable... he couldn’t resist the urge! “ Awake now? Let’s catch him off guard with a swift!” Leon glanced back toward Lars, listening to the battle to be slightly aware of the other trainer’s movements just in case. Why? Because Marshtomps were destructive, that’s why. Taft watched as the Phanpy rolled around happily and then toward Leon. Um, excuse Taft while he suddenly enters protector mod. With a cry, he pounced forward and let out a barrage of Swiftly moving stars, watching as they hit the Phanpy ground on his rump, letting out a small toot of confusion through his nose. His brown eyes glanced over to what had hurt him, ears flopping as he looked at the Eevee. Immediately, he was up on all fours and taking on an offensive stance. His ears fanned out aggressively as he let out the cutest attempt at an intimidating trumpet while stomping his foot into the ground and pulling back some dirt. He even let out a Growl in his attempt at being ‘a tough guy.’ “ Show him your charm, Taft. Show him you’re not intimidated by that growl!” Taft’s fur bristled as he saw the Phanpy’s attempt at being intimidating. He blinked innocently at the Phanpy, using his big, beautiful, Baby-Doll Eyes to try and get the Phanpy not to attack him so harshly. Seemed to work. The Phanpy relaxed a bit, but shook it’s head and rolled into a ball toward the Eevee. The surprise of his sudden Roll Out caught Taft off guard and their bodies connect. The Phanpy rolled past the Eevee, turning to get at him. Leon clenched his fist as he watched the hit, looking at the Phanpy rolling around. “ Don’t let it catch him in it’s track! Get out of there, quick!” Taft took his trainer’s hint and used a Quick Attack to ram into the side of the Phanpy while he was moving. It was difficult to time, so he only grazed the back of the Phanpy. It was enough to knock him off his track though, causing the Phanpy to unroll and give a small trumpet as he got back up on his feet, slowly this time. “ One more time with that swift!” Taft did as his trainer said, shooting another Swift the elephant’s way. Once he was hit, he retreated into the grass. It was about that time Leon heard Lars tell him to brace himself, which had him moving over to Taft and picking him up off the ground and leaning on a rock to steady himself. He was able to catch the bottom half of the fight and honestly? He was amazed at the result. What a beautiful Zangoose. So much drive. If he had a Pokémon like that, he wouldn’t dread catching Pokémon for the ranch so much. Not that Taft wasn’t amazing, he was just inexperienced, and it seemed like the Zangoose was as experienced in battle as Lars’ Marshtomp was. words. 576 notes. +2 for taft / phanpy ran away to faint it's fine Lars Anderson |

Thankfully the Zangoose didn’t struggle against the containment unit, and a ‘click’ noise echoed out before the rocking came to a stop. Now that the immediate threat had been taken care of, the Marshtomp then rolled the occupied Pokéball towards Lars, before beginning to flex and showoff his (non-existent) muscles. Resisting the urge to roll his eyes, he then picked up the now-occupied containment unit and began tossing it up and down. Looking over to where Leon was now handling the Phanpy, he then continued to puff away at his pipe. Taking another deep breath, he then slowly released a thin stream of smoke, before shaking it slightly to keep the embers hot. “Nicely done,” he began, nodding in the Eevee’s direction once it had driven its opponent back down the way. “But I take it’s not what you’re looking for?” he inquired curiously, digging up his phone and checking the list he had saved in the Notes area. His eyebrows going up slightly, he then looked up in time to see another opponent wandering towards where Leon was. “Uhh… you might want to take this next one,” he added, tilting his head in the direction of the innocent-looking Teddiursa, yawning before spotting the Eevee. “I don’t know if you’d consider that one, but yeah. You said you were looking for cute ‘mons, right?” he continued, returning his attention to his pipe while watching what would happen next with much interest. MADE BY ★MEULK |

Leon had just gotten over the thrill of the battle with Phanpy when he heard Eli’s comment. Huh, he supposed that meant he was doing pretty well with Taft as far as battling was concerned. For some reason, he was so paranoid he was doing the battles wrong. Or too slow. Or not well enough. Really, he just had some major confidence issues. No big deal. “ What?” Leon peeped the word out like a freakin’ Pidgey before looking over toward where he saw the cutest thing in the fucking world. The Teddiursa had just yawned before looking over at the Eevee and its trainer. Cute, the both of them. Most importantly? Trainers meant food. Right? Didn’t they? With a small twitch of his ears, the Teddiursa moved over toward the two, cautious of his movements while moving his little ears and twitching his tail cautiously. Taft immediately stood up straight on all fours when he heard the movements. His ears perked up as he watched the movements of the Teddiursa. Maybe if he didn’t move, the bear cub wouldn’t see him? Oh, he could dream. Once close enough, the Teddiursa moved his paw up slowly to the Eevee’s face. Leon furrowed his brows once he noticed the sheen. “ Taft-!” But his warning was too late. The Teddiursa not only gave Taft’s face a decent Scratch, but it’d also began laughing hysterically at the reaction the Eevee had. Taft bolted upright after the assault and glared at the Teddiursa. Immediately repaying the dumb cub’s attack with his jaws, giving the Teddiursa’s leg a firm Bite. After that, the Teddiursa yelped and his claws started to slash at the air, a barrage of Fury Swipes being let loose on the poor Eevee. When Taft let go and jumped back, the Teddiursa took a breath and let it loose gently. He pulled his right eyelid down with his paw and stuck out his tongue at the Eevee. “ Little dick.” Leon snorted before crossing his arms. “ Taft, get him quick while he’s being an ass.” Taft’s ears twitched and at his trainer’s command, he used the Teddiursa’s tomfoolery against him. He quickly closed in using a Quick Attack and as their bodies connected, he pounced on top of the Teddiursa to Bite his ear, pulling and tugging at the Teddiursa who immediately started to bombard the Eevee with Fury Swipes yet again. “ Distance yourself and attack him from there!” Leon called out among their... rather hilarious, but ridiculous display. His trainer’s words had Taft leaping back and letting out a Swift array of stars, shining and sparkling. Most importantly, hitting that Teddiursa right in the kisser. The poor thing landed on its stomach, rear in the air, with a grunt and its eyes ‘x’d out. Leon immediately threw a ball in the direction of the Teddiursa, smacking it right in the rear that was sticking up in the air in an attempt to catch it. “ What a little shit.” He mumbled in a laugh while watching the ball and bending down to pet Taft, who had come over by his trainer’s side to watch the ball’s movements. words. 518 notes. teddiursa catch attempt -1 pokeball Lars Anderson |
